Previously, you could watch the food being prepared, which, while a bit inconvenient, was still fun. It created a social atmosphere. Now everything has become very impersonal. It's completely self-service. However, the prices are at restaurant level or even higher. The food tastes good, of course, so that's all well and good, kudos for that. But overall, nothing about the new Vapiano concept really works; it feels haphazardly thrown together instead of cohesive. If you can stoically focus solely on the food, you'll be happy here, but everyone else desperately needs more attention from the owner.

The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was okay. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. The carbonara was incredibly bland, practically inedible. The drinks, however, were great! The coffee was also very tasty. Overall, it was a huge waste of money, as the prices are outrageous for such poor quality.

The breakfast offer for €8.50 is extremely good, the seating is great and warm, it's clean, and the music is good. I don't know of a better place to wait at Berlin Central Station.

The waitstaff made snide remarks about customers' eating habits and were rude when asked questions. The order was simply wrong, with the explanation that they were out of pasta. The other dish contained mushrooms that shouldn't even have been in it.

The location is actually fantastic, right next to the main train station on the upper floor. Unfortunately, the selection is rather limited and the staff are often overwhelmed. It could be a much better experience.

I didn't check any reviews beforehand, and it was a complete disappointment; the spaghetti... now I probably have an Italian's knife to my back - it wasn't spaghetti at all, mushy on the outside like it had been boiled three times, but more than al dente on the inside, really strange. The doppio wasn't bitter, but rather thin.

We worked for quite a while before the food arrived. It was also very crowded. Otherwise, everything was fine.

Chicken Alfredo pasta was overcooked, with maybe 4 pieces of chicken in it. Tables weren't clean. Bathroom was more disgusting than the public one.

This was our first Vapiano visit in five years, and it will be our last. Sorry, but it was a complete disaster: the pinsa was tasteless and, most importantly, cold; the Bolognese, lacking any meat, could almost have been offered to a vegan, and the staff was incredibly rude. How are you supposed to know where to find the drinks you ordered and paid for at the terminal on your first visit? When you politely ask at the counter, the drinks are just tossed over without a word – and no, it wasn't busy; the customer simply interrupted their conversation. The price-performance ratio is completely off; they're obviously cutting corners on the (more expensive) ingredients, which is also reflected in other reviews and observations. The two stars are only for the dining area, which is reasonably sized for a train station, but we can always go to the DB Lounge next door for that...

We have been to Vapiano in the UK and had a good experience. Thought this one in Berlin train station would be good too. We were WRONG. Pasta poorly done - the carbonara was the driest ever. We were shocked that 5 euros was added automatically as a service tip into the overall check at the kiosk. t was not an option - we only saw it when we looked at the receipt. How is it a service tip because we had to look for a table ourselves, get our own drinks from the bar counter, our pastas from the kitchen counter, cutlery from the side table top? We will NEVER come back to this again.

After waiting for 40 minutes, we had to cancel our order because otherwise we would have missed our train…

They say a good place reveals its character not on the plate, but the moment you arrive. Where hunger meets hope, you long for a small sign of humanity, a feeling of being seen before you've even ordered. Perhaps that's why my visit to Vapiano at Berlin's main train station surprised me more than it should have, and not in a good way. I understand modern systems, I understand efficiency, and I understand that cash is seen as outdated in some concepts. But a restaurant in the heart of an international transportation hub that doesn't accept any cash at all seems less modern and more out of touch with reality. It's not hard to imagine the situations: • Travelers arriving from abroad whose cards aren't activated or are simply blocked. • People whose cell phone battery is dead, so mobile payment doesn't work. • Teenagers who have received cash from their parents but don't have a card. • Older guests who feel insecure with card-only concepts or simply don't trust digital payments. All these people then stand there (hungry, stressed, in the noise of the train station) and suddenly realize they're not allowed to be customers, even though they want to be. It's a moment that makes you feel unnecessarily small. And that's something a restaurant shouldn't have to create. The food? Typical Vapiano solid, nothing groundbreaking, but warm, fresh, and functional. However, the flavor seems less intense when the previous experience casts a shadow. I firmly believe that gastronomy is more than a product; it's an invitation. But an invitation that can't be accepted without a card is, at its core, incomplete. My conclusion: Vapiano at Berlin Central Station appears modern but forgets the human element. And all it would take is a single decision: Bring back cash – not for nostalgia's sake, but for the sake of dignity.

Do not order from there under any circumstances!!! Hello Vapiano Team Berlin HBF, we already noticed your lack of care when we picked up our order. We only realized how little you care about your customers when we wanted to eat at home. We usually like going to Vapiano, but what we experienced with you today was the worst and the absolute worst. Could you please tell me which of the two dishes (see photo) has the crema pomodoro? Attached are photos of our order and what we received.

Had a coffee. It was quite good. The music was awful, but otherwise it was quiet, bright, and nice with the wooden tables. Ordered via mobile phone...

Worst pasta with shrimp I have ever eaten. The price is also outrageous for this kiosk-quality food.

You really shouldn't look too closely at the counter, it's so dirty and dusty. The food isn't good either. The cappuccino was almost cold. And the service was nonexistent.

Great hospitality. I lost my train and I needed to spend 5 hours somewhere. They noticed my situation, put me somewhere comfortable to sit and charge my phone and were very polite and eager to offer me anything. Made these hours much much better. And the food is very taste with big portions.

Ordering from the machine is an incredibly cumbersome process. The milky coffee was terribly bitter and sour. The panini was very thin but otherwise okay. No cutlery or napkins were provided, but they still demanded a tip when ordering. Neither the machine nor the person who slid the food over the counter gave me a receipt. Never again!

Ugh, where do I even begin... As a visitor, the whole process is quite complicated, and nothing is explained to you. You get a card at the entrance, which you then use to order at a bar. You're given a vibrating device that vibrates when your food is ready. However, I was already given a hard time at the bar when I didn't know whether I was supposed to order food there or how the whole process worked. The man looked at me and pointed to the card (I already had what I wanted). Then he snatched the card out of my hand and placed it on a sensor without any explanation. (So, you order here, and then you pay at the exit using the card details). Although I was already a bit annoyed, everything had gone relatively smoothly up to that point. When my food was ready (and the device vibrated), I was a bit confused because, as I said, no one had explained where I was supposed to pick it up. So I wandered around a bit, but without success. Finally, I went to the bar and asked, whereupon I was met with such aggressive rudeness that I was told, "Oh yeah, you have to walk! Work, huh?" Someone else then pointed me in the right direction, and I finally got my pasta. The food was cold, the cheese wasn't melted, and the overall quality was poor. I also found the cook's hair in my food. Never again for €12. The pizzas are acceptable, but the pasta is definitely not recommended. The two stars are really only for the nice location.

Atmosphere is good but the taste is very bad pasta not boiled enough

The overall quality of the food at Vapiano has declined significantly. For example, the pasta with mushrooms consists mainly of pasta, a few thin slices of mushroom, and a watery cream sauce—at best, it's very poor cafeteria quality. Charging €18.25 for a small bottle of water is outrageous. At least the seating is pleasant... You get your own food and drinks. There won't be a next time.

Absolutely ridiculous… A man buys himself some takeaway food (breakfast). Then the lady shoves the paninis into my hand and says, "Careful!! They're hot!" I asked for a bag… "No! They don't have any!" Ridiculous… Never again!

I had a crema coffee for €3.50. Then I politely asked for more milk. Apparently, there was too much. The waitress was unfriendly and asked me to speak in a full sentence. I did! I'd rather go somewhere else next time.

Basically self service, you have to do everything yourself: ordering, getting drinks, taking food to table (and when paying you’re still asked if you want to tip bruh). Also €80 for 4 people is crazy

I had penne carbonara, and unfortunately, it was bad. The bacon barely tasted through, I felt like the egg had been forgotten, and the pasta had a rather mushy texture. It really wasn't worth €14.50. What a shame. I used to love your carbonara, but this one was unfortunately not up to par, even though the staff was very friendly.

Very bad service and impolite staff. I tried to talk to staff and they asked me angrily what i wanted, i felt bad when i saw the angry face and high tone voice but i tried to ignore it considering they might be talking like this with everyone. Then white tourists arrived, i was shocked to see that suddenly they were treated so cheerfully. I hated the discrimination, so i asked them where to pay, and they replied "cant you see i am working?" they made me wait just to point in a direction. My whole trip was destroyed by their rude behaviour and discrimination. I wholeheartedly hope that they run outta money and the restaurant gets shut down. If you do not look rich enough or white enough, kindly avoid this place for your own sake as they will not see you as human

When paying at the machine, the terminal displays information about the tip amount (as I understand it) only in German. Unable to understand how, under the pressure of the queue, I could avoid paying a tip, which is nothing more than a tribute to self-service, so I chose the 1 euro option when purchasing tea. The overall impression was dismal; I wouldn't recommend it.

Unfortunately, my visit to Vapiano at Berlin Central Station was anything but positive. Without any warning or question, a €1 tip was automatically deducted from my bill – that shouldn't happen in any restaurant. Furthermore, the staff was noticeably unmotivated. I politely asked them twice for our table to be cleaned. The employee simply wiped everything from the table onto the floor with an old, yellow rag – hardly anything more needs to be said. We were only planning on making a quick stop, but after this impression, a return visit is out of the question for me. Whether this behavior was due to excessive work pressure or a lack of motivation is hard to say – in any case, there was a clear lack of professionalism and service awareness.

I know prices have gone up everywhere. But there still has to be enough, if not for a big appetite, then for a little one. I got "Aglio e Olio." I paid extra for very painful "Gnocchi" and "Shrimp." The shrimp were (OK), but dude. I'm not paying €15 for nothing. The plate had nothing in it. It was really awfully small. ... So only if you want to show "OMG I HAVE A LOT OF MONEY AND I WANT TO THROW MY MONEY IN THE AIR," then feel free to go. Otherwise, Absolutely No way.

Delicious food and quite filling! Very friendly and accommodating staff. Clean restaurant. Overall, a very satisfying dinnner!

Limited choice. Sandwiches consist of bread and tomato, along with half a slice of hamburger and a few slices of cheese. Shame. Out of sheer desperation, they removed the top of the bread so you could still taste the filling.

The food has declined; the taste ranged from okay to good, but the prices are too high. The "restaurant" is bright and welcoming, but the dining areas need to be improved on cleanliness. Waiting times were OK, but it wasn't that busy. The system is complicated. First, you order and pay at the terminal, then verify your pager, use it to go to the bar to get a drink and dessert/cake, then find a seat and wait for your food. You have to get your head around it. The terrace looked nice, but couldn't be used due to the temperature. There are restrooms, but I can't comment on their cleanliness. Fully accessible.

When the kitchen assistant stuffs the Parmesan cheese into the bag with their fingers (the order was for takeaway pasta), it's simply disgusting (and should be thrown away immediately) - small portion of pasta, poor value for money, and a long wait.

Pleasant service staff, food was very tasty

I ate here twice during my stay in Berlin. Everything went perfectly and was always delicious. You order your food at a self-service counter, receive a pager—as you would expect from Vapiano—and then pick up your ordered drink at the bar. Both the staff at the bar and in the rest of the restaurant were very friendly and accommodating. You don't even notice that you're in the train station. You don't notice the noise and hustle and bustle of the station during your stay. If I'm ever in Berlin again, I'd be happy to come back.

We ordered takeout. 2 Caesar salads with extra chicken, 1 pasta pomodoro with extra burrata and crema di fragola. I was handed the bag with the statement: "Everything's included!" The dessert was missing, and the Caesar salad was a joke: the bowl was 1/3 full and exactly six pieces of chicken. Would it have only been 3 pieces if we hadn't ordered the extra chicken? All in all, a huge disappointment! Never again for us!

It was my first time this specific Vapiano and we had a really disappointing experience. We waited 75min for our food. When we came to pick up the pasta, it was already cold and sticky. Paying 15€ and experiencing this, is crazy. Poor staff was completely overwhelmed, people were super angry. An uninviting ambience in total. Unfortunately I wouldn't come back or recommend.

I don't think I've ever had such bad pasta. The noodles were stuck together and mushy. The flavor was bland. I'm surprised they were able to serve it at all. The pasta I've had at branches in other countries has been good, so perhaps it's the chef's fault. I'm disappointed.

Bad experience because waiting times are far too long and new processes are a disaster

Vapiano, never go there. Greasy food and lies about the contents of the dishes. Terrible service: dirty and cluttered tables (I finally cleared them myself), 40 minutes before receiving drinks and another 10 before receiving glasses (which I had to go and get), disrespectful and completely disorganized staff. 2 hour wait for two spaghetti and a salad swimming in sauce. Poor staff members, overwhelmed and at the end of their tether. I can say that I have never experienced worse.

Unfortunately, no one is allowed in one hour before closing time.

This afternoon we had a "pasta firecracker" before taking the train back from Berlin to Amsterdam, and we really enjoyed it. The staff was helpful, and the place looks fresh!

Honestly, this was the worst carbonara I’ve ever tried. It didn’t look or taste like carbonara at all. I barely ate two spoonfuls and had to toss the rest — total waste of money.

What happened to Vapiano? Once one of my absolute favorite restaurants, it has now become one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food is bland, tasteless, and completely uninspired – far from the delicious meals I used to enjoy here. The quality has gone downhill dramatically: ingredients feel cheap, flavors are missing, and even the overall atmosphere is no longer inviting. It’s truly disappointing to see such a popular brand lose its charm and standards. Unfortunately, Vapiano is now on my blacklist. I cannot recommend it to anyone anymore.

The food is good, the drinks are very expensive. The whole place is dirty, the tables are only wiped carelessly (just pick up a lamp, it's funny). And you can do the freestyle swim in the restrooms.

During my stopover at Berlin Central Station, I visited Vapiano. I opted for a panini and a hot drink. The price of €8.50 for both is more than reasonable for the location. The panini was also delicious. However, food and drinks must be picked up by yourself after a pager signal. Vapiano is fine for short stays. However, for longer stays, I find the seating less than ideal. On the positive side, the restrooms were very clean and there's enough room for a suitcase, so it doesn't have to sit alone at the table.

Before the train we decided to go for a snack. We ordered pasta and beer. The order was ready within 10-15 minutes. The pasta, as in all the Vapianos, is great. There are places outside. I give it a big 5 stars.

Unfortunately, the quality at Vapiano has deteriorated. Orders must be placed independently via a terminal (similar to fast-food chains) – the team is somewhat overwhelmed with coordinating and preparing everything (I'm speaking for the bar here). Unfortunately, personal contact and staffing are increasingly being cut back.

I ordered the lasagna. After 40 minutes, it was tasteless.

Vapiano used to be really good – creamy carbonara, a large pasta selection including parpadelle, all very tasty. Now, after years, I've been back: – Selection significantly reduced (still OK) – Carbonara watery, egg apparently forgotten – No more bread – Barely any Parmesan cheese – ridiculously little I actually like the ordering system and the speed. But unfortunately, the taste is only a 3.5 – and that's exactly how the rating should be.

A bit disappointing. The food is unfortunately not what it used to be. We had the pesto pasta twice and there was hardly any pesto on it? The pinza wasn't cooked all the way through. The salmon carbonara was okay. The chicken Alfredo pasta only had two pieces of chicken and just a couple of mushrooms. And the taste was just mediocre. Then there's the bad service. There are what feels like 1000 ways to order food and the whole system is just so confusing. A few dishes were brought to us and others we had to pick up ourselves even though the same ordering method was used exactly and we even asked specifically if the food would be brought to the table. At some point the waiter came after we had waited ages and half the food was already there and said that our food was inside for us to pick up (already cold). It's a real shame because the terrace is really nice, especially when you have to kill some time at the train station.

The food was quite tasty, however very expensive compared to the amount of protein in the dish. My wife had a chicken pasta that barely had any chicken in it. I had a carbonara that barely had any pork or onions. Both dishes were over €16. I used to love Vapiano's, but this is far from the past experience I used to have. Edit: Their response completely ignored the price / portion ratio concern of my review. They suggested I should spend more money.

Vapiano – Between the Magic of Memories and the Gray of Reality Vapiano was once a favorite place for me, especially in Mexico. I went there often, not just for the pasta and pizza, but for the little pleasures: the gummy bears at the end, like a sweet little farewell. A small gesture that always brought a smile to my face, like a silent promise of kindness and childhood memories. Today, it feels different. The pizza was disappointing: a thick, heavy dough, barely seasoned, somehow foreign. Even the chili oil, which used to add a hint of fire, remained mild this time. I missed the spiciness in the food, as well as in the overall experience. And I miss the basil that used to be a staple on every table. Without that fresh greenery, the place lacks some heart. Vapiano without fresh basil on the tables is no longer Vapiano for me. The ambiance was also flawed. A woman spilled her drink, and the water landed under our table. Without a word, she simply walked away as if nothing had happened. This small gesture of looking away left a strange impression, as if something had changed in the way we interacted with each other. No employee can be blamed for this, but it did affect the atmosphere. The restroom situation was unfortunately chaotic: long waits, a lack of cleanliness. I decided to just leave. And yet: A small ray of hope remained. Despite the rain, the colorful summer salad, along with a vibrant drink, brought a bit of warmth and color to the moment. Maybe it wasn't what I had hoped for, but it was a friendly drop in the gray glass. I hope that one day Vapiano will once again become the place that lets small gestures be big and that doesn't forget the spice of life.

The noodles were terrible. They were lukewarm to begin with, then they reheated them and added even more oil. They were swimming in oil and tasteless. This was my last visit to this chain!

Spaghetti bolognese is always good

Very nice and beautiful restaurant. The food was good, and they also serve gluten-free pizza, which tastes great. We ordered pizza to go. You order on a screen and then receive a device with a number. When it vibrates, you can pick up your food.

Tasty as always, service is pretty fast. Overcrowded because of location

Such a stark difference from the early years. The place has a cafeteria feel. What used to be a pizza place is now overpriced, square, and smaller. It was OK and probably freshly made, but there's no reason to go there anymore. There's no service anymore; you're greeted by a machine, like at Maces, that immediately asks for a tip. The waitress rushes to your empty pineapple board before you've even finished the last bite. But the mess stays there until you ask for a rag. So, no! Going to Vapiano is nothing special anymore.

There's something about the experience that changed. I think the self-ordering machines do away with a lot of the experience that I used to enjoy about Vapiano. Food is still great. Atmosphere is non-existent. Call me cheap if you want, but I don't agree with being prompted to leave a tip at a self-service restaurant, where I order from a screen.

Much too expensive and not very tasty

Vapiano's used to be so good, but now the prices keep going up and the quality massively down. 17€ for a simple chicken alfredo is a bit outrageous. My dishes have been consistently bad. Today's chicken alfredo was watery and tasteless. Another time I ordered bolognese and the spaghetti were all glued together with a very thin beef ragu. Bonus points: the terrace is nice and the staff are friendly. No one bats an eyelid when you sit here for a while. I have used this Vapiano a couple of times as a base but the food really is bad to the point it's inedible. Same with the other branches at Potsdamer Platz or Alex. It's a shame that Vaps has gone down so much in Germany in other countries e.g. UK or Finland the dishes are great and there is also some variety and special dishes. The menu in Germany is bland and really boring.

Vapiano steadily declined throughout the years. What was a very good concept is barely any better than fast food now. The tomatoes used are very acidic so all the tomato sauce dishes were not good at all as well as oversalted. Asked for carbonara without parsley, of course it came with a bunch of parsley. The bread which came with the soup was also stale (even though it mentioned it would come with croutons. The Lasagna was acidic and oversalted All of this for 34€? I’d rather go to McDonalds. Oh and the cherry on top? They self-service displays ask for a tip. At a place where it’s self service and no human gets your order!

Unfortunately, I have to say that the restrooms were a disaster. (Not cleaned.)

I was there today at 12:00, and it wasn't that busy. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The food took a little longer. I ate the oily pasta like they had there (arrabiata fusilli). I was hungry and wanted to leave soon on the ICE train. A Coke plus pasta (extra handful) cost over 15 euros, way too expensive. Terrible! Anyone who likes good food should really avoid it. This is the third or fourth time I've had a bad meal at Vapiano, whether it's Berlin, Dresden, or Frankfurt... take your time and go to a real Italian restaurant. Or, if you're in a hurry, go to a really low-class McDonald's ;-) I was there at lunchtime in June 2025, and it's gotten even worse. The ordering process was confusing! I thought, OK, try again, no, I give up, I'll go to a real Italian restaurant. Please give up and close. Every Italian is happy about that!

The old decor and lighting were cozy and much better! The new decor doesn't look good at all—the store feels cold and uninviting. No wonder there are hardly any customers anymore; it used to be always full!

Vapiano pleased with its cleanliness and comfort. Honestly, I wanted to wash myself off after the train station, so beautiful and so smelly, with a bunch of homeless people and drug addicts. The food is super tasty, as in all Vapianos, the staff is very attentive and courteous. No queues, although we were there on Saturday evening. I'm taking off one star only because of the train station

A lot has improved since my last visit, they now have self-service kiosks where you can put your order and sit down. Overall very good experience now, prices are a bit higher than 5 years ago, but that's everywhere since the inflation has gone up.

I don't understand the many negative reviews here. This is my second time at Vapiano in Berlin Central Station, and I've been very satisfied both times. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious, and not overly expensive. I also can't vouch for the long wait times. I'll definitely stop by again on my next business trip to Berlin.

The food is great! The pizza and pasta were both very good. However, I found the prices a bit high. You order at an electronic counter. The rest of the food was packed for us. It's actually quite good for a relatively quiet way to pass the time at the train station.

A random guy tried to rob a woman, and I had to intervene, and he started a fight. The chefs helped me detain the guy until the police arrived. Everything else was a solid 10/10.

With pleasure, here's a detailed version. A real little highlight! The Illy Café offers perfect Italian coffee while standing – just like in Rome. The tiramisu was surprisingly good, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. The service was friendly, attentive, and prompt despite the hustle and bustle. Ideal for a quick but stylish coffee stop. A clear 5 stars!

We ordered two dishes for a late lunch. The dishes were full of mushrooms, which my partner would have preferred less of. We didn’t really have a service experience, as we ordered through machines, which was a shame — there were very few staff members, and that affected our overall experience. Nice spot to spend an hour while waiting for the train, relaxing music, clean kitchen, lot of space. Good smell in toilets. Waitress look not tired, smiling. Took risotto mushroom, tasted much better than in some restaurants. Prices are moderate, paid less than EUR 15.

Tasty but not filling. I paid for extra chicken, but it still got so little chicken. 4 mini pieces. I paid €15 in total and don't think the "service" or portion is good.

Hope you are enjoying the 100 € tip you "got" from the 4 boys eating at your place tonight. One thing is to forget a bag, another is takling advantage of it.

It's a real shame! It was a really good place for a long time, with direct service at the counter and the chance to watch the food being cooked – really nice. Now it's just an overpriced chain restaurant with overwhelmed and correspondingly unfriendly staff. It's no longer worth the name.
