Vapiano in München

Dishes worse than in the canteen. They just didn't taste like anything. The Bolognese looked as if the “cook” had briefly mixed the pureed tomatoes with fried minced meat and used it for lasagna, for example. The pinsa had such a bland taste. In my opinion, the concept with order/payment cards was not successful. And then ordering like in the fast food chains made me feel like I was sitting in a McDonald's branch. Conclusion: Dishes have no character, hence the grade 6 (failed). The service is like that of fast food chains, grade 6. The ambience was ok but nothing special, hence the grade 4 (sufficient). Overall, a clear grade 6 and a “never again” recommendation.

After many years we landed here again and were shocked at what had become of the once trendy VAPIANO. Not only is the quality subpar, the prices are at the highest level. There is also the canteen noise, waiters singing Spanish and unfriendly staff when clearing up. But hey, for the fancy Pinsa, now there are some “scissors” ✂️ to cut? 🤣 We haven't had one yet either. In addition, the pizza didn't even deserve the title and the spaghetti was penguins and not bolognaise either, the carrot and tomato sugo with a bit of minced meat and much too sweet... When I complained about the poor quality at the exit with the words: "That used to be very cool and tasty here," the cashier told us: "Yes, it's been going downhill here for years." Aha. 🫩 If your own employees say that, you don't have to be surprised... But apparently you have already noticed that your own end is approaching. Otherwise there wouldn't be grave candles on the tables everywhere. 😂 It's a shame about the store. That used to be really great, but now it's no longer usable. Unfortunately.

We came here on mid day 1st of may. It was rather empty. The portions were generous and food was delicious.

The food was tasty, there is no service at Vapiano, the location was okay. I just thought it was stupid that there were almost only stools for seating, so no backrest. Good price for downtown Munich.

We recently had lunch at Vapiano in the Fünf Höfe and were unfortunately only moderately satisfied. We were particularly struck by the drink situation when it came to water. The only bottled still water on offer was San Pellegrino. Given the long transport route, we find this problematic for sustainability reasons and would have liked a more regional alternative. When we asked, we were given tap water, but it was only served in small 0.2 liter glasses. Especially if you consciously want to avoid imported bottled water, we found this small portion size to be inconvenient and not particularly hospitable. We ordered a Pinsa. Although this was basically okay, we unfortunately found it to be rather bland and unexciting in terms of taste. Overall, the visit did not convince us.

If you want to eat pasta quickly and at a moderate price, this is the place to go. The pizzas could be better prepared. The atmosphere is casual and lively.

It's a shame that the old concept was abandoned, it was a real unique selling point. So for me, Vapiano is just one of many resturant chains. My experience with the food was less positive and was well below my expectations. There wasn't much going on that evening so there can be no excuses. My wife and I have decided to avoid the Vapiano in the future.

We went there as a family. A very nice restaurant. Service left a lot to be desired. The food was okay. We had pasta with pesto and a soufflé and turf salad. Our table was piled high with dirty dishes. They weren't picked up until the end. We reordered something and received it without cutlery. The cash register was unmanned downstairs. Instead, there was a lady behind the bar who also served as the cashier. I then wanted to order an espresso, which unfortunately wasn't possible, but I would have to go upstairs. Then I asked if the coffee machine was broken. No, the manager had ordered it that way. Why are you standing behind the bar and not at the cash register? The manager had ordered it that way! I ended up drinking the espresso somewhere else. A half-full restaurant with overwhelmed staff. We won't go there again. There are better restaurants in Munich. Additional comment after receiving a very impersonal response from the owner: You call the espresso issue a misunderstanding, I call it a lack of knowledge in the restaurant industry. A second-story restaurant operates in one of Munich's best locations. On the upper floor, there's a kitchen and tables for food and drinks. On the ground floor, there's a very nice bar and a separate cash register, which wasn't in use on that particular day. It's understandable that, due to staffing shortages, the cash register and bar are operated simultaneously. But the idea of ​​someone standing behind a bar with a great coffee machine sending customers back to the upper floor, where the food is usually prepared, is highly questionable to me. I assume that as a "professional" in the restaurant industry, I don't have to explain the profitability of the space to you, but fundamentally, it ultimately costs revenue when you treat customers like that. The concept with the fresh pasta is great and the food is good, but so is the service and the feeling of visiting a restaurant. Your standard response could practically apply to many complaints. Or what do you mean by a misunderstanding when ordering a coffee at a staffed bar? I was in Munich in 2017, 2022, and now 2025. There used to be a few more Vapianos, but they kept closing. If you don't move with the times, you'll be left behind... As I said, a half-full restaurant at lunchtime on a Monday doesn't bode well for the future. We wish you continued success, and we'll try again next time we're in Munich, hoping you'll still be there.

I've been here very often. The pasta used to be better. It varies depending on the cook, but in my opinion it's very annoying when you get a different amount of pasta every time, even though it's the same dish. I was informed that these were weighed, but there are always different amounts of pasta or meat in them... Waiters and cooks were partly friendly. Tables on the terrace are often dirty...

I was often at Vapiano before the bankruptcy, so I was curious to see what it was like now. Conclusion, not bad, but a little of the Vapiano charm has been lost. Too bad. Reason: Previously, the pasta dishes were only cooked with fresh pasta and you stood directly in front of the cook. You exchanged information directly about all the ingredients and had an individual dish. Of course, you used to have to wait a long time, but it was something special that only existed there. Now that's the past. Vapiano is now a normal Italian restaurant, but expensive and my spagetti carbonara was normal. Not what it used to be. Mini mista salad was very tasty. Cappuccino perfect. The gummy bears at the exit were no longer available either. The overall package, we had pizza, pasta, wine, specials, dessert with coffee was way too expensive for the average. My recommendation if you're hungry, OK, the special is gone! Go somewhere else! This is probably also the reason why Vapiano no longer appears everywhere like a weed. Given average, no wonder.

There’s not much good to say unfortunately. Staff at the front desk was nice and helpful, everyone else surprisingly ill-mannered - I’m sure they have their reasons but yea. The restaurant itself is quite dark and the air stuffy. The food tastes ok, not bad not good - pasta was overcooked and quite salty. Both my girlfriend and me had an upset stomach after, not sure what happened there. For all of that it’s simply not worth the price when you find far yummier, real Italian food at a better rate and with charm all around.

Delicious food in a nice atmosphere at fair prices. Nothing to complain about. Definitely recommended for lunch or in the evening.

We had an unexpected stopover in Munich and came to the centre. Vapiano is a restaurant we frequent at home and this location did not disappoint. Good portion sizes and fresh ingredients. Appreciated there being an English menu as it made ordering so much easier. Small issue of the restaurant being upstairs so not fully disabled friendly, that one of our party struggled with the stairs. Overall we had a great evening.

The food is good. The service messed up the order. We also went for gluten free pizza but every time I have come here they didn't have anymore. Hopefully they improve soon and refill their stock.

The ambience is actually quite sophisticated and invites you to linger. The service when ordering was very quick and friendly, the food was served after a reasonable waiting time and met my expectations.

The server with short purple hair was so rude. She yelled at all the customers she served. When I asked her to alter my food due to allergies she had a go at me. Had no form of customer service and didn’t look like she wanted to be there. Even though the place was quiet we waited over a hour for our food. When we went to pay and the lady asked how our food and experience was and we raised our concerns about the server she proceeded to roll her eyes at us and talk german to us even though she knew that we only spoke English. Very disappointed and will not be returning to this place at all.

The atmosphere there is always really nice, it's noticeable and inviting. Unfortunately the food (Carbonara & Pinsa) was actually just bad. Greasy, microwaveable and somehow we didn't feel good afterwards. In addition, the service was somehow lifeless, long waiting time and short vocabulary. So it's strange and unfortunately a lot has changed for the worse compared to before. Is there a saving in personnel and quality here? You notice it clearly.

My Vapiano experience varies depending on the cook. I was impressed by the Vapiano in Munich - in terms of ambience, it is the most beautiful Vapiano I have visited so far. We were there on two different days and the food was very good on both days. Especially on the second day, the dish we had chosen the day before was even better. This shows that the quality depends heavily on the chef, but in general I can really recommend the Vapiano in Munich.

I haven't been here for years. I probably should have read the reviews beforehand... I just ate spaghetti aglio e olio: the pasta (spaghetti??) is far too thin and completely overcooked, and the parmesan is sticky. There is hardly any oil. The garlic alone saved the taste a little... I won't be coming back anytime soon.

It’s my second time and I regretted it more than the first time I was there which was at lunch. It’s a big eatery with a relatively small kitchen so service was extremely slow and quite chaotic inside. Second and will be last time was at 3PM. Lasagna I ordered took 25 minutes to arrive, was salty, and lacked the burnt mozzarella flavor. Adding salt to injury is their one-cashier-at-entrance procedure, which means more waiting. Avoid this place, especially if you’re in a rush.

As a happy pre pandemic customer, I went back to Vapiano this week. I was surprised to see that the food quality had strongly deteriorated compared to what I used to get there a few years ago. On top of that the prices went up. With such an increase in prices I would have expected that the food quality would have at least kept up to a decent standard, which wasn't the case. On top of that they explicitly ask you for a tip upon paying, when it should be up to the discretion of the customer to leave a tip or not. A lack of professionalism. My last time visiting a Vapiano. Please avoid this place at any cost, there are better restaurants in town.

I've been to many Vapiono branches. But there was little variety here. Pizza was very bad. It was small and thick. The worst caesar salad dressing I've ever had was here.

The choice of food becomes less and less towards the evening, especially when it comes to soups, and the pizzas don't taste good or are far too floury and have a far too large edge (no fluffy edge). What bothered me the most was that you don't have an overview of what is being booked on the card you get at the beginning. I ended up paying more for the wrong pizza and a drink. After I complained, it was rudely pointed out that I should have said this earlier, but that's not possible because at the end you hand over the card and only get the bill after you've paid, or you only know what you paid for after you've paid. I wouldn't recommend a visit because of the unnecessary payment system and the unfriendly staff.

October 2023 I had never tried any VAPIANO before but I really enjoyed the experience, there is a good variety of dishes, we chose a table, decided what we wanted to eat and went to the counter to order, a funny concept, after a while the food was served, good portions and great flavor . The space is quite pleasant. I will certainly return to a VAPIANO when the opportunity arises

The first time we ate in Vapiano, the service was friendly and we ate pizza. Unfortunately, the departure took an unfortunate turn when the cashier asked us to show the chip card when we went out, which was partly understandable after reading the house rules, but instead of politely explaining the rules regarding chip cards, we were unnecessarily humiliated; my relative had to do this before get back the chip card that an employee from the food distribution withheld. We never have to put up with the humiliation again, otherwise the Italian restaurants would be much better compared to Vapiano! We never imagined our dinners in Vapiano like this! This happened on December 15th, 2024 at around 9:05 p.m.!

If you get there before 12 p.m., you can quickly place your order, it will be kindly brought to the table and you can enjoy your lunch. In any case, my César salad was very tasty.

Quality of the food is absolutely below average, pasta as always unfortunately very dry because they don't use enough liquid for the sauces, and the pasta then quickly absorbs the liquid, and then when you want to eat the paste, which by the way is far from normal dente, then the noodles will tear very quickly. Actually you have something like a dumpling of pasta on your plate that sticks together. Conclusion: I hope a really good restaurant will come here at some point, preferably something like Italian fast food, but Vapiano is really the very last thing

Although it’s a good place, the service and waiting time for food at this place is terrible . Staff are not very accommodating as well . Massively disappointed . Worst branch of Vapiano I’ve been so far. I don’t recommend this to anyone .

The place has a fantastic ambiance and decor, but there are several issues worth mentioning. • Ordering takes an extremely long time, as the staff responsible for taking orders also handles drink preparation, causing delays and long waits. • During peak hours, while there are empty tables, they are often left uncleaned until you repeatedly ask the staff to take care of it. • Food delivery times are also longer than expected. After visiting this location at least five times, I can say the food quality ranges from average to above average, but the overall experience could definitely be improved.

My pizza came lukewarm, the sauce was a perfectly simple canned tomato sauce. The mushrooms on my pizza were raw and simply placed on top of the cheese, the only good thing about the pizza was the arugula.
