Vapiano in Mannheim

When you come to this restaurant and there's no beer on tap, early in the evening... The highlight was the mouse that ran around the pizza oven.

We ordered online for 15 people and when we arrived nothing was ready and we had to order again despite the order confirmation and wait half an hour. no discount

Typical Vapiano atmosphere, fresh food as expected, but very few staff, which led to long queues.

We ate at Vapiano Mannheim with several people and were unfortunately disappointed overall. The employees all seemed unmotivated and not interested in the matter at hand. My friend had a salad that was tasty, but the four of us ordered different pasta variations - none of which were particularly convincing. The taste was simply not satisfactory. In addition, in our opinion the price-performance ratio is not at all right. The prices are definitely too high for the quality offered. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the Vapiano Mannheim.

It wasn't so great there now. Long wait, food was okay but not good. For the price I would have expected more in terms of taste. I've been there once and it will be the last time for me.

Been here for ages because I used to enjoy the Insalata Mista. What can I say? It's brutally cold, you have to eat in a jacket. The lettuce was wilted and tasted like Aldi ready-made salad. Way too much dressing. The pasta dish was good. We won't come back. Everything has its time somehow. I'm still freezing...

Unfriendly staff, poorly seasoned food, broken toilet.

Risotto was ok. But I don't understand the concept. Waiting in line for a long time to order, waiting for the food to be prepared. Eating together is difficult because everything is done differently.

Ich gebe zu, dass ich schon ewig nicht mehr bei Vapiano war. Durch die Insolvenz und weil eine andere Kette eben auch Service am Platz anbietet. Es war nicht so einfach, die Bestellung loszuwerden. Mit Hilfe eines weiteren Mitarbeiters war es dann möglich. Man merkt, dass an allen Ecken sprachlich ausgebildetes Personal fehlt. Aber ohne sie, würden wir vermutlich nichts zu essen bekommen und auch das Geschirr am Tisch liegenbleiben. Wir hatten kleine Pinsa bestellt. Ich fand den Teig nicht so aufregend und irgendwie auch viel zu dick. Die Tomatensauce schmeckte auch eher wie Tomatenmark pur. Irgendetwas fehlte bei meiner Pinsa. Leider sitzt man sehr tief oder sehr ungemütlich (ohne Lehne). Oben ist es sehr dunkel.

Carbonara was shit, chefs were unfriendly and seating was way too dark

Ordered spaghetti Bolognese and a pinsa with ham. After about 15 minutes, “Big Mama” came and said that there was no more ham. The lady was very unfriendly!

I looked through the reviews here: most of them are complete nonsense, and talk about things that you already know from the start as soon as you enter Vapiano (even the operation, how to handle the cards). I was there last night and ate the best pinsa, with rocket, mushrooms, tomatoes, everything fresh. Congratulations on the young man at the oven, we ordered 3 Pinsa and all 3 were cooked really well! Small recommendations: I would probably have reduced the prices overall by €1-1.5, generally speaking. The toilet had soap on the floor, probably something broke? Everything else is ok! I will 110% visit the restaurant again!

The Pizza Firenze looked good, but unfortunately it had a strange taste, you almost had one

If you like it, you can also buy a jar of pesto and eat it with pasta. Prices absolutely not justified. The noodles float in the oil. Bolognese has nothing to do with Bolognese and could actually be declared vegetarian. Older little lady also very unfriendly.

We were there with friends. My “Nice” salad was super delicious! The water (0.25l), on the other hand, cost me around €5, which is unfortunately no longer a rarity anymore... However, the staff seemed a bit bored and one of my friends was a bit rude. Nevertheless, I would come here again. Nice atmosphere in the evening :) but you shouldn't sit on the high chairs by the door in winter. The constant opening of the door makes you feel cold.

Disappointing. We know that it is more of a self-service fast food restaurant. But the employees behind the counter, visibly overworked and unfriendly, unmotivated. Errors in serving/ordering food. Lasagna was supposedly out of stock, but the next customer got one. You just didn't feel like it. The gentlemen at the coffee bar stand out positively. Here people were accommodating, quick and friendly. All in all, the food was not of outstanding quality, little, but at high prices. Therefore not recommended. It's better to go to a real Italian restaurant, there's one opposite in the Fressgasse.

I'm not sure how you get the pasta to be overcooked but hard in the middle at the same time, but Vapiano makes it possible. Unfortunately really inedible and I really wouldn't recommend it.

The whole system is totally cumbersome. Everything has to be ordered from somewhere else. After we first got drinks we were then asked for drinks every time we ordered food?? The pizza came upon request. One of them had already eaten when the pizza was finally ready. Just thick dough, hardly any toppings. She lay on the stomach for another 2 days and caused a lot of discomfort. The food is very expensive. To top it off, some employees didn't speak German. Questions were answered in English. Overall, the worst restaurant experience in a long time.

When you enter the restaurant you are immediately given cards without being told what they are for. Only when you take a seat at the table and then ask do you find out that this is a self-service restaurant. The food looks great, but the noodles are not cooked properly and unfortunately the food tastes like nothing. Not even the parmesan has any taste. Had a coupon “2 pasta dishes for the price of one” that was valid until March 2025. Was there in November 2024 and the employee simply didn't want to accept it. In my opinion, very disgraceful. My pasta didn't taste any better than if I had cooked it myself.

Pinza frozen dough (not fresh)... Poor ingredients (Mozzarella, tomato sauce...) they even use parsley instead of basilico.

Good food and fresh. If you order something via the website you will also receive a confirmation email, but whether anyone has actually read the order is more of a game of chance. When you call to order over the phone so that the order actually arrives you are sent to the website. Could run better.

The worst pasta I've ever eaten.

Food was okay - not seasoned enough for us. Pepper, salt, oil and vinegar are available on the tables for seasoning. Atmosphere very loud, although I'm really not that sensitive. It used to be more comfortable and had more character.

Very Chill Atmosphere, the foodservice can be slow, but it has to do with the card system that is here.

Vapiano – Used to be a pleasure, unfortunately not anymore When I was young, Vapiano was my absolute favorite place to spend lunch breaks with friends. The freshly prepared pasta dishes and pizzas were always a highlight and I looked forward to it every time. Back then it was always delicious. Unfortunately, on my last visit I discovered that the food was no longer of the same standard as it used to be. Unfortunately, the pasta was disappointing in taste and no longer as fresh and aromatic as I was used to. The pizza wasn't really convincing either. It's a shame that the quality of the food has changed so much because Vapiano used to always be a safe choice for me. I hope that things will improve again, because the fond memories of previous visits remain.

Well, vapiano: loud, chaotic, the pizza was good, the pasta dish was more Asian than Italian.

I am very disappointed with my visit. In contrast to before, a run-down atmosphere, too few employees (had to wait about 10 minutes for the wine to be served with the finished, cold food) and the food poorly prepared. That was it then.

In my opinion, this self-service philosophy does not fit into a city center. The restaurant is well furnished, but the prices don't quite fit. Lasagna was so-so, nothing earth-shattering.

We had something to eat here during the week around 9 p.m. We were greeted warmly at reception, as always. The chef who prepared our food was also very polite and nice. Our noodles were also very tasty 😋

The Vapiano Mannheim is “old school”, meaning you order directly from the chef and can then watch it being prepared. The staff is friendly and also fulfills special requests without any discussions. It's fun to come here. The card is Vapiano, there are no nasty surprises here. You know what you're getting. Big plus point: The noodles here are also really cooked. Cleanliness is guaranteed, apart from minor deficiencies in the toilet facilities. But the guests also have a part to play here. The ingredients are fresh and of good quality. The restaurant is comfortably furnished and is located right in the center of Mannheim. We would be happy to come back.

The total destruction of Italian food culture. Has anyone from this restaurant ever eaten real spaghetti carbonara? I strongly recommend checking it out, the Vapiano Carbonara was one of the worst I've eaten so far. Really, folks, really poor performance.

Food Mediocre Pizza not fresh but warmed up, employees (the two big male employees quit them) gossip about customers and laugh at them, will not visit this shop again otherwise I risk ending up in jail because of the employees there

The food for the money is not enough. Carbonara tastes like matcha mash. Because you have to wait for the food, you can't sit. But served quickly.

Unfortunately, the Vapiano in Mannheim is no longer what it used to be. Ordered 2 pasta dishes and a small salad. I've never had such hard noodles served in a restaurant. We had one dish go straight back - inedible and at a really steep price. The side salad didn't taste fresh either. It's a shame, I never leave food out, but the salad was anything but tasty. We actually wanted to have dessert too, but we saved that. All together with 2 small drinks for over 40€. For what we received, it was almost a disgrace. Regarding the service: you actually expect that you will at least be wished “bon appetit” when the food is served. You could also perhaps ask when paying whether you liked it, let alone at least say “bye” after you have paid. So when it comes to friendliness, there is still a lot of catching up to do here. Dear Vapiano team: we are your guests!!! We want to feel that way too. But that's not how you treat guests. My conclusion: there is no reason for me to visit the Vapiano again if, above all, the quality is not improved. I would like to remind you again: there used to be the best pizzas in Mannheim here... today we are miles away from that. But there are no pizzas anymore anyway...

Well, whoever likes it. Had the Chicken BBQ Pinsa. A disaster in terms of taste and definitely too expensive at €15.90. Sorry, but a frozen pizza has more flavor, is bigger and costs less than a third. Coca Cola Zero 0.33 for €4.20 ??????. I would expect it in a gourmet restaurant but not in a corner restaurant with a canteen feel. Ambience, well. I think the constant street noise right on the main road says it all.

It's already closed here in Koblenz, and I think many others will follow. We stayed at the Dorint Hotel next door over the weekend. Unfortunately I was persuaded to go to Vapiano. Mistake! The food was ok, average. But the prices are exorbitant because it is self-service without any service. 15€ for a handful of spaghetti with mushrooms and sauce. 15€ for some salad with two tablespoons of tuna. 0.2 liters of Orangina €4.20. Then go to a real Italian restaurant in a beautiful atmosphere and friendly service. Edit to Vapiano's answer: What is supposed to be so high-quality about a plain salad that it justifies €15? Especially since we are talking about self-service without any service! The sauce for my wife's spaghetti consisted of about three mushrooms, a little cream, a little oil and a mini portion of parmesan. Cost also €15. And!!!!! Baguette is no longer available with the dishes voluntarily, but only upon explicit request!!!!

But then we were told that it was like a self-service restaurant and were given 2 cards on which the food should be written down for payment. Now the plate/portion looked really tasty. But now this... The noodles were so overcooked that it was torture to eat them, especially since they also stuck together as if they were glued together. If the sauce hadn't been so good, you would never have been able to eat it and then you would have had to pay almost €15 for it. At least the homemade/bought iced tea was good. When we went to pay we were of course asked how it tasted. To that I just said GO, there are better ones. His expression said it all and luckily I just said GO. If we had looked at the reviews beforehand, we would have preferred to avoid the restaurant. We also wondered why the restaurant was so empty, now we know why. Well, there is no service here. Self-service, even if you want a drink. Is the concept and ok. Asparagus salad, in season, was absolutely terrible. The dressing tasted okay. The star asparagus on or in the salad was estimated to be a maximum of 50 to 70 grams, cut into thin slices and so not even visible at first. For 18.xx euros, I found it to be extortionate for that little bit of goods with no service and no quality. Some of the salad was weak and limp. You couldn't eat the microasparagus because of its very bitter taste. The second dish was a stone slab with an equally minimal amount of support. Not edible because it is very, very hard. Terrible experience. A complaint at the exit when paying was apparently heard, but only answered with the invoice amount 43 euros. It's a shame that such a once-excellent restaurant has become so bad. I can't make a recommendation. Of course, it's everyone's own choice, some people might like it. This review is honest and will probably once again be classified as harmful by the operator and will then have to be deleted. As an operator, I would rather work on the possibility of improvement and perhaps do something about quaslification.

Food is made fresh and you get it yourself. It is cleared away by the staff. Everyone is very attentive and helpful. The food tastes great, the prices are normally not too expensive but the quality is top. You shouldn't be afraid to go in. It's self-explanatory once you're inside.

Central located address. The food is a selection of your pasta with the sauce and salads plus desserts . You can select what you want . The food is almost like a pasta fast food, but enough for a quick meal. Place is nicely laid out with internal and outdoor seats.

The hype is over, Vapiano used to be cool 10 years ago. It's a shame it hasn't developed further. Was there again yesterday after years, the food was so-so, but quite expensive, and now it's enough for the next few years.

My experience at Vapiano Mannheim was disappointing. Compared to the quality standards in Vienna, where I like to go, Vapiano Mannheim couldn't keep up. The staff was unfriendly and the lady with the rainbow colored hair who did the pinsa literally glared at us and was rude. Plus it was cold inside, we even had to keep our jackets on while we ate. The food was edible, but overall it was a shame that such a good concept wasn't implemented well.

The food here is far too expensive for what you get, unfortunately it tastes okay and there was even a hair in one plate.

Yesterday, Saturday, March 9th, around 11:00 p.m. we were there, the food was great, but unfortunately the little Tunisian man who works in the catering industry (pasta area) was totally arrogant and unfriendly to us, exactly as if he didn't feel like working , exactly as if he doesn't care about customer satisfaction. I just think it's a shame for the owner to have such employees because they could lose a lot of customers. So you quickly lose your appetite!
