They sell burgers for 24 euro, but don't know how to cook them. My burger was totally overcooked

I used to really enjoy going to this restaurant, but after my last visit I definitely won't be coming back. I ordered a burger that I didn't like at all. When I tried to point this out to the waiter, I was accused of having to say something straight away - when in fact I only waited for him for a maximum of 5-8 minutes to calmly clarify the problem. It wasn't about getting any kind of discount or proof, but rather about treating the customer with respect. Instead of understanding or a professional solution, I was accused of lying. After an unpleasant discussion, I was only offered a minimal discount on the fries, which I didn't even eat. A disappointing and unnecessarily stressful way of dealing with customers. It's a shame because I actually liked the restaurant.

So far we have only had our cappuccinis here several times. I can't say anything about the food. Service was very nice and cappuccino was very tasty with the extra...

Excellent food and if you're lucky, a table with a beautiful view over the city. Please don't be put off by the loud music and the sometimes somewhat rude staff.

If you want to wait 2 hours for 2 coffees and 1 apple juice and your order is forgotten and then you just leave... Then the cafe is exactly for you!!!

Whenever I go shopping in Mannheim, I eat in the roof garden and am very satisfied. The food and drinks (homemade lemonade) are very good, I have always enjoyed them. The service is noteworthy, everyone is very friendly, quick and there is a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere! Absolute recommendation 😊

We were in the restaurant for the first time. The food was super tasty, we had an antipasti plate, a burger and the spinach dumplings. Everything was exceptionally good, we were really excited! Our waiter was very friendly, attentive but not intrusive. We also found the design/ambience very pleasant. All in all, I recommend the restaurant without reservation! Great homemade drinks and the food was just great, fresh, homemade and a good portion, Will definitely come by more often. I'm thrilled 01/04/2024 We have been there several times now and I can say today was the last time I was there. We had a children's burger that was a mini bun with a small meatball and ketchup 🤣. My burger costs 16.80 euros and fries 5 euros extra. You couldn't taste the BBQ sauce and the meat was coarse, which is great but unfortunately it tastes like bratwurst. I've been there 4 to 5 times now and unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it to eat there anymore. The food is overpriced and not particularly tasty.

Not recommended. We had to wait a while in the entrance until we were shown to a table that had been vacant for a while. We were not served at the table several times and were told that each waitress had his own area. After 45 minutes of waiting and no service, we left the place.

First day back in my home country... Really looked forward to go out and enjoy local hospitality however was shocked about the welcome at Dachgarten and the general lack of interest and customer focus of the service staff. Not only were the person of contact not helpful but actually flat out rude. 2nd contact I was left standing at the bar, while 4 people were so occupied with themselves that noone noticed me or gave a minimum level of attention. The food was really good however this is just part of the experience... I am wondering what people from overseas think leaving a place like this...

Very nice location, whether for a business meeting or to start the evening in Mannheim. We made a reservation for the terrace incorrectly. There was no table available for the appointment. But it speaks for the service that they got the problem under control. We didn't even have to use a reserve table. Sitting on the terrace looks good and is very comfortable even at low temperatures. Drinks were exciting, such as “Quitte Bitte” or the “Moscow Mule”. The fact that there was no Pina Colada was a bit irritating, but the bartender quickly whipped up a replacement. We only had snacks, we can't judge real food.

Hatte Entenkeule bestellt. Unterirdisch schlecht! Keule war wohl auf dem Grill gemacht ! Keine knusprige Haut . Komplett ohne Würze. Soße geschmacksneutral nur mit Salz und Pfeffer halbwegs essbar. Knödel Fertigprodukt ohne Geschmack! Und das für 26,90 Euro! Also ich habe noch nie so schlecht gegessen! Nie wieder Dachgarten!

Das Interieur ist ähnlich wie im Faces sehr „aufgeräumt“. Geschmacksache. Vom Personal kann man dies leider nicht behaupten. Anfangs noch sehr freundlich, wird der „Chief“-Organisator ziemlich patzig als wir ihn darauf hinweisen, dass wir gerne noch etwas trinken möchten. Auch die 2 Stunden zuvor, mussten wir uns immer wieder bemerkbar machen, damit wir bedient wurden. Nachgefragt, ob wir noch etwas „möchten“, wurde nie. Dafür stand das Personal lieber im Bereich der Küche für einen Plausch zusammen. Ist auch schöner als auf der Dachterrasse.

Came across the location by chance. On the roof terrace you have a great overview of the city including the sunset. The ambience inside is also great, the service is friendly. The menu could be a little more varied, the tortilla with guacamole and cheese unfortunately tasted like it was fresh out of the bag/canned food. The spinach dumplings were very tasty.

The food may be good, the atmosphere is also very nice, but that's no use if no one comes to take the order, even though the restaurant wasn't full on Friday lunchtime. Too bad! Went again.

Ich war kürzlich am späten Nachmittag im Dachgarten, um die Location für eine mögliche Feier zu erkunden. Leider war mein Erlebnis enttäuschend. Wir bestellten u.a. eine Flasche Wasser, die uns für 5 Euro als Leitungswasser serviert wurde, was ich als unangemessen empfinde. Der Service war zudem unfreundlich. Nach etwa 25 Minuten wurden wir gefragt, ob wir nicht endlich bezahlen möchten, was uns das Gefühl gab, das Restaurant verlassen zu müssen, obwohl viele Tische frei waren. Anscheinend gingen dem Kellner die Folgebestellungen zu langsam . Hinzu kam ein Abrechnungsfehler, bei dem uns zu viel berechnet wurde. Insgesamt kann ich dieses Restaurant nicht empfehlen. So eine schlechte Erfahrung hatte ich noch nie zuvor.

Delicious food above the city rooftops at reasonable prices. At peak times you should bring some time

Rarely have I eaten so badly for so much money. The food is at best snack quality. The ambience is getting old and partly worn out. The service makes an effort, but with the staff shock, the restaurant cannot be managed properly.

I was there twice, the food was very tasty and the service was courteous and friendly each time. Not too crowded at lunchtime.

Everything is sweet and nice, but the roof garden seems too cold and impersonal. The interior could be much friendlier and more inviting = it has a cafeteria feel. The food is okay and fits well for a small hunger. The prices are a bit overpriced. The drinks are absolutely delicious and the selection is sufficient. The ambience is very nice. There were two of us there and we reserved a table at 5 p.m. We stood in the entrance area for a few minutes. Unfortunately, no one paid any attention to us, even though it was still very empty, we drew attention to ourselves and some employees walked around. When we took a seat it took about 15-20 minutes for the order to be taken and just as long for it to come to the table. The cocktails were very good, the pizza was good but a bit overpriced. Since we had a great time, we were there from 5 p.m. until closing time at 11 p.m. In the entire time we only had two drinks because no one came to serve us or ask if we needed anything. We were only able to order the second drink because we asked different waiters several times. It seemed as if no one felt responsible. We would have ordered a lot more if we had the chance. It got busier as the evening progressed, but not every table was occupied and there was enough staff there. Therefore I have no understanding of the service I experienced. I wouldn't come again.

I recently had the pleasure (or rather, the displeasure) of visiting the roof garden in Mannheim. Here are my detailed experiences: Reservation and arrival: I tried to reserve a table by phone in advance as we wanted to go there on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately, I was told that reservations are only accepted for groups of eight or more. To my surprise, when we arrived I saw that smaller tables had also been reserved and there was no space left on the terrace. This misunderstanding made me believe that I had simply been lied to on the phone. That was the first disappointing impression. Reception: When we arrived we asked the service staff for a free seat. We were simply told that we could sit where there were no reservation signs. This lack of service left us wandering around the restaurant disoriented. A small hint as to which areas we could usefully look into, or a concrete suggestion as to where we could sit down, would have been very helpful. Waiting times: After we finally found a table, we discovered that it was still covered with dirty dishes from the previous guest. It took about ten minutes before anyone even took our drink order. Another ten minutes passed before the table was cleared. Almost ten minutes later our drinks finally arrived. So in total we waited 20 minutes for a simple lemonade. The wait for our food was even more frustrating: after ordering, it took almost 50 minutes for our food to be served. Quality of the food: The dish we ordered, a “bowl,” consisted of lukewarm pulled pork and rice; the rest of the ingredients were cold. For the price of 19.90 euros, we expected a high-quality and freshly prepared dish. Instead we were given cold corn and beans that obviously came from a can, as well as tortilla chips from a bag. The value for money here was absolutely disappointing. Conclusion: Our visit to the roof garden in Mannheim was extremely disappointing. From the problematic reservation to the unfriendly reception and the long waiting times to the poor quality of the food - the entire evening was a disappointment. Given the numerous alternatives in the area, we won't give this place a second chance. Once and not again.

Great location with a view over Mannheim

We arrived and no one was around We cared. Not even the dirty dishes that were there before were put away.

We just had a drink. The service is A1. Very nice. The ambience is very nice. We'd love to come back.

The toilets have the most modern Dyson taps. But none of them work! Everything seems a bit unkempt.

Food was atrocious, burger patty tasted as if it was frozen before being warmed up. Good views though.

The menu is varied and there is something for everyone. I had chili sin carne. The size of the portion was something like a children's plate. The dish was far too expensive for that. The portion of fries with the burgers was also more generous. I have the impression that not only have the prices increased significantly, like everywhere else, but in the roof garden the portion sizes have been minimized. The homemade lemonade is quite good though.

The waitress didn't understand that we had recently sat down, even though she greeted us at the pass. We waited for her for a total of 30 minutes and during that time she served the two tables next to us. Despite eye contact, we were unfortunately not noticed or served.

The only good thing is the ambience - the view over the city. The food (Avocado Chili Fries for €16.50) was a complete mess, completely mushy and sticking together. You couldn't pick them up individually on the fork, but had to separate them from each other with a knife and fork. Guacamole was fatty with a high mayonnaise content. I complained about this, but this didn't result in an apology, a new dish or a price reduction. Conclusion: Never again!

My food was ok, my colleague's meat was bad. Unfortunately, the complaint was responded to unprofessionally. Our chairs had no cushions, just a wooden seat. Otherwise nice atmosphere!

Very nice restaurant. We got a spot on Friday evening without a reservation. The plants are super beautiful! Staff was also very nice. The only negative point was that the portion of spinach dumplings was quite small and I wasn't completely full.

It's now very loud and there's a lot of running around, which makes it seem hectic.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our visit. The menu has a great selection of various dishes, but the quality is unfortunately poor. The burger patty was far too dry, the bun was of poor quality, and the sauce neither tasted good nor harmonized. The fries, however, were very good. Overall, far too expensive for what is on offer. It's nice to sit outside on the roof terrace, the ambience inside is okay but nothing more. It's a shame, a lot could be done here.

Cozy and appealing atmosphere. Service a bit slow and sluggish. During our visit, cleaning the wine glasses from the event the day before was more important than the current guest. Espresso solid, but not a highlight. Cappuccino with or without latte art, depending on who makes it. One of the homemade lemonades on the menu was out. There was then a discussion among the cellars as to why a new one wasn't made... Non-alcoholic cocktail was extremely tasty. Rarely had a better drink. But for the price, a bit of decoration would have been included, especially if the homemade lemonade had a dried orange slice on it.

The roof garden is on the roof of a shopping center. You can see over half of the old town if you sit outside. The food was also delicious. The service is always courteous.

We actually go here often. But today the food was not to be enjoyed. Both dishes were very salty, even the truffle mayonnaise. One dish was forgotten so it came later. Now let's take a break from the roof garden.

Food was totally salty, both the Agnolotti Carciofi and the truffle mayo. I'm usually not that sensitive but you really couldn't eat it. Unfortunately, the waitress forgot to order 1 of 2 dishes, meaning only one dish arrived. The cocktails were way too sweet and you couldn't taste any spices in the food. And last but not least, we both had stomach pains after eating. In the end it was far too expensive. Unfortunately we don't go there anymore.

The furniture is old, which I don't think is a bad thing, but it's just not well maintained. A pity. I had expected more from this location.

Beautiful ambience above the rooftops of Mannheim. Sitting on the terrace is really nice. The drinks are largely delicious. Unfortunately the food is below average. If you want to sit nicely and have a drink, you're in good hands here. If you want to eat, it's better to go to another location beforehand.

One star for the food, which was good. One for the ambience. But unfortunately - with exceptions - the staff here is responsible for the overall poor rating. This was mainly due to the “shift manager” or whatever his name is. Went here as a group and there was therefore only a slimmed down menu to choose from. Special requests outside of this small selection were not possible, even if these “special requests” were part of the normal menu for other guests - a shame. But the way this was communicated to us was just very arrogant and really dampened our spirits.

You shouldn't go there on a spur of the moment decision. Nevertheless, we got a table with a view. Shortly after we had eaten we were told to change tables because we had eaten by now. The table was quickly reserved and two tempting ladies who had probably complained were moved. Well, it doesn't give a good impression of the procedure, especially since there was no mention of a reservation. The portion of the salad is the size of a good side salad for €22 It tasted good, but the price wasn't appropriate for 3 small chicken pieces. Unfortunately too expensive.

A chicken salad for 25€??? Towards the end of last year, the prices in the restaurant were increased and then again in January 2024.

A visit to the Engelhorn roof garden in Mannheim leaves mixed feelings. As part of a group of 14, I had high expectations for a social evening. The first disappointment quickly followed when we were barred from attending happy hour - apparently it would be unviable for the business. This reasoning was difficult to understand, especially since the restaurant was busy but not at full capacity. The compromises continued as we were presented with a reduced menu. With only six dishes to choose from, we felt limited without being given a plausible reason why. The service was mediocre at best. Our request for shots was dismissed with a link to the website, which reinforced the feeling of lack of hospitality. Although the food itself was fine, the overall impression fell far short of what one might expect at other establishments. All in all, this was a once in a lifetime visit. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the Engelhorn roof garden because the overall experience fell well short of expectations.

Nice restaurant with a good view of a small part of Mannheim's pedestrian zone. I've never seen Mannheim like this before. You can sit well in the restaurant, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The food looks good, the coffee tasted good. Will definitely come back.
