At Klaus, the guest is still king. Starting with the friendly two-generation service, to the light-filled tables overlooking the always lively forecourt. Here, the chef still cooks himself and enchants his guests with the finest fish creations, as well as hearty home-style dishes. His salmon pans are an absolute delight. The schnitzels come with a variety of sauce combinations, guaranteed to fill you up. We look forward to our next visit to our favorite spot by the sea. What does the Franconian say? Thank you.

It was my first time there. The service from the owner was magical. She put a lot of heart and soul into it. The pizza was amazing. One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. The prices are absolutely reasonable, NOT a tourist rip-off. Reservations aren't possible; you have to get there early to get a seat; by 6 p.m. the place was packed. But no matter, we'll be back next year. Absolutely!!! Update 06/25/25: However, you have to make a reservation now because, unfortunately, they're extremely short on staff. The food was once again truly delicious and arrived quickly, even though the place is operating with minimal staff. The photos speak for themselves.

We've been going to Kellenhusen for a few years now, and a visit to Utspann is simply a must. The owners and staff are super friendly, and our dog is always welcome, too; it's a real treat. We ate there in June 2025. We booked a table and that was a good thing. Many potential guests had to be turned away because there were no seats left or they had reserved. The food was delicious and, well, affordable for a beach promenade restaurant. The owners were friendly and quick. I would eat there again because it's the only place serving schnitzel there. Please note: only certain opening hours! Lunch from 12-3 p.m., dinner from 5-9 p.m. Closed on Thursdays. Opening hours vary depending on the time of year. Since the restaurant is on the beach promenade, you CANNOT drive right up to it. But I think I saw a parking lot about 100 meters away.

The two of us went to dinner at Utspann just before closing time. We ordered a currywurst with fries and a fried fish with fries. The currywurst was more like a bratwurst and accordingly thin, something I'd never experienced before. The sauce was very tasty, though. The fried fish was okay, but it only came with a ready-made remoulade that tasted strongly of preservatives. At €15 per dish, you would definitely have expected more fries and some greens on your plate. It was okay, but we won't be coming back.

Utspann has become an absolute must-visit for us in Kellenhusen – and for good reason. Anyone who appreciates honest, lovingly prepared food, a warm atmosphere, and genuine, personal service will feel completely at home here. The restaurant is cozy, lovingly decorated, and exudes a warm serenity. It's not a fancy, "fake" restaurant, but a place with character – down-to-earth, open, and friendly. Just the thing after a day at the beach or for a relaxing evening with friends or family. The food? Great. We had several different schnitzel variations – the meat perfectly cooked, the breading golden and crispy. We particularly want to highlight the sauces: all homemade, perfectly balanced in flavor, and definitely not your average dish. You can taste the passion that goes into cooking here. The portion sizes were also just right – you'll be more than full without feeling overindulged. A special highlight is the team on site. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely enjoy what they do. You feel like you're not just a guest, but a welcome guest – as if you were visiting friends. The service is attentive but never intrusive, warm and yet wonderfully relaxed. A real plus for dog owners too: Our four-legged friend was not just tolerated, but received a truly warm welcome. You can tell that everyone is welcome here – even those with paws. A quick tip: Be sure to reserve a table in advance. The Utspann is very popular – which is no surprise given the quality and atmosphere. If you arrive spontaneously, you'll be lucky without a reservation. Conclusion: If you're on holiday in Kellenhusen, you shouldn't miss this restaurant. Honest food, a friendly team, a relaxed atmosphere – the Utspann is a place where you feel at home. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

The service is exceptionally friendly and attentive, and the kitchen team knows exactly what they are doing. The food is simply great: large portions - you'll really feel full here! The prices are absolutely fair, and everything is freshly prepared and made with love - you can taste it! What was particularly nice was that our dog was not only welcome, but loved right away. I went for dinner here with my sister and her husband after we unfortunately accompanied our brother and brother-in-law to their final rest in the Baltic Sea that day. We felt very comfortable in this restaurant. The menu offered a lot of variety but wasn't too big. The nice woman who served us was very friendly. My sister and I decided on fish. My sister for salmon and I for cod fillet from the Baltic Sea with mustard sauce, salad and potatoes. It was absolutely delicious! My sister also thought her dish was very good and my brother-in-law, who chose a schnitzel with crab, was also very satisfied. The only negative point for me was that there were no good wines from Germany.

We vacationed in Utspann at least once a year and were always satisfied. We now live near Kellenhusen. Today I was there with my daughter. The food (fish baked in tomato sauce with cheese, bread and salad and fried fish with fries) was really tasty and very plentiful. We'll be back. The extremely delicious fish sandwiches are a must in summer.

We ate there spontaneously this evening. Even though it's already the end of October, the menu is still very diverse and there should actually be something for everyone...in my opinion. My friend and I were more than enthusiastic about the food (pepper schnitzel and turkey Bolognese pan), very tasty, tender schnitzel with a great pepper sauce, which was just right in terms of quantity. My pan dish was very, very tasty (the empty pan speaks for itself😉). Don't forget the two small salads first, I've rarely had such a delicious yoghurt dressing. We would love to come back...

Unfortunately we weren't satisfied. The matjes was ok but we wanted the fried fish with fried potatoes instead of fries. An extra €2.50 was charged for that and there were 5 slices of potatoes on the plate. The surcharge is incomprehensible. We also wanted the children's meal with fried potatoes instead of fries. Same game. The fish figures didn't taste like fish at all and were overly expensive at €8 + €2.50 for 5 potato slices. It's a shame, we can't recommend the restaurant.

We were here last year and “had” to go back to find out whether the fish sandwiches were actually that good. We were not disappointed, but confirmed. Here you get the best fish sandwiches. Super tasty.

This restaurant = a total failure! There was only 1 "stripped down" menu - German dishes available. There were only a few dishes to choose from - so you can't really be successful as a restauranteur and it has nothing to do with real skill. I can even manage schnitzel variations + currywurst. Fries were hard + inedible. Instead of the shandy I ordered, I got a cola. After I politely complained about this (I had definitely ordered 1 shandy), the waitress came back with a grumpy face and the shandy was carelessly slammed onto my table, so that the glass almost broke + without any apology! We also had to wait forever to pay. And at the end the waitress became really cheeky and insulting because she also expected a tip for such a miserable service, which of course didn't come for the reasons mentioned. Zero service + zero friendliness, not rewarded! The icing on the cake was that even the landlord/cook gave us rude comments. This restaurant would first have to learn what it means to deal with guests in a professional and friendly manner. The VERY LAST! The waitress/service worker should be fired straight away, his behavior was anti-social - he insulted him and insulted him several times! She doesn't speak German properly either, which is unfortunate, lol! One can only hope that this restaurant will be completely staffed with NEW staff - so it's a NoGo! The manners that prevail here are “lowest level” and you don’t need them on vacation and generally not in everyday life! The primitive statement from the owner, written in extremely bad German, says it all - he simply didn't understand the basic requirements of running a restaurant.

First of all: The location is very central and invites you to make a spontaneous visit. Unfortunately, we were quickly disappointed. It took a long time until we even got the menu. The service person then informed us that only German cuisine was available, but not Italian dishes. This meant that it felt like 70% of the menu was missing from the selection. Since we didn't like the other dishes, we just wanted to order drinks. We could tell from the service staff's reaction that this was not desired. We then voluntarily vacated the place and decided on another restaurant. We cannot rate the food accordingly; the rating refers purely to the service and the organization of the processes.

Excellent restaurant with the best location in Kellenhusen. Despite the heat and the high volume of customers, the staff was always extremely friendly and attentive. The most important thing: both the food in the restaurant and the food at the "street sales" (the schnitzel rolls are legendary!!!) are excellent and the portions and the price/performance ratio are absolutely right. Clear recommendation and always worth a (repeated) visit! :)

Considering it's practically right on the beach, the prices are reasonable. We took 3x fish sandwiches or kibbeling "to go". What was immediately noticeable the first time and the reason for subsequent visits was that they don't skimp on fish there. The smoked salmon really overflows. Taste is also great. If we visit Kellenhusen again, we will definitely get something there again.

The schnitzel was fresh, not frozen. Spaghetti very soft with Bolognese, which tasted too much like pureed tomatoes for my taste. The whole meal was also very poorly seasoned. Still got full. Lambrusco was very tasty and the service was also great! Prices moderate.

We ate there on June 5th, 2024, the beer was nice and cold, unfortunately the spaghetti Bolognese and the salmon noodles were nothing special in terms of taste, with the Bolognese sauce you should take an example from the promenade buffet, unfortunately there was a smell due to the out-of-house sales of burnt fat into the covered anteroom

Luckily when we visited the restaurant it wasn't crowded. The service was very friendly. We had a ham mushroom pizza and a Quattro Stagione. The pizzas were very tasty, the dough was thin and fluffy at the same time. Unfortunately, the Quattro Stagioni was very sparingly topped, there were only 4 strips of pepper on the pizza and the mushrooms were saved. What really bothered me was the noise, as the "kiosk" with the fish sandwich sales and attached kitchen is right next to the covered outdoor area. The sliding glass door to the kitchen was never closed, so that both the kitchen smells e.g. B. from frying and the constant knocking of schnitzel can be heard throughout the restaurant. If it hadn't been for that, it would have been a nice visit.

I was looking forward to tagliatelle with salmon in a tomato/cream sauce. Tagliatelle was served drowned in a tomato/cream sauce with smoked salmon shreds. I think, no I know, that this dish is not difficult to prepare and that it could be served more appetizingly and with freshly fried salmon.

Delicious, but comparatively very expensive fish sandwiches. Still, large portions that somewhat justify the price. A little too little remoulade for my taste (but a matter of taste or an oversight). I ordered several fish sandwiches. The fish was partially placed on the bun with bare hands. Didn't look appetizing. Hygiene doesn't seem to be particularly important here. The taste of the fish was still good.

We chose food from the weekly menu and were very satisfied. The swordfish was excellent. I think it's great that there is a choice of German-Italian dishes. Will definitely go again 😀 Service friendly and attentive.

Unsere Freunde wollten mit uns ins utspan, nach Lesen der Bewertungen wollte ich fast nicht hin. Zum Glück sind wir dann doch mit, denn das Essen übertraf die Erwartung (wie gesagt, nach lesen). Das Essen war richtig gut, ich hatte Rumpsteak und das war auf dem Punkt Medium! Mein Mann hatte eine Pizza und die war auch richtig knusprig und gut. Alles in allem kann man das Restaurant durchaus besuchen und wir kommen sicher mal wieder. Positiv anzumerken ist auch, dass der Chef selbst nachgefragt hat, ob alles in Ordnung ist. Dies passiert auch nicht in vielen Restaurants. Danke, war ein schöner Abend!
