Unperfekthaus in Essen

Truly imperfect and unfriendly. Anyone wanting to leave has to pay the entrance fee again afterwards.

On Thursday, November 6th, 2025, I visited the Unperfekhaus in Essen for the very first time. It's a truly magnificent and unique place. There's something new to discover in every nook and cranny; I was constantly amazed. I paid €7 at the entrance, which is more than fair, as drinks are not included. I should probably list what's missing, which is a real treat for any artist's heart 😅 I had a fantastic photoshoot there; it was incredibly fun. All in all, simply wonderful. Imperfectly perfect!

What a stupid new concept. We decided against visiting because of it. You're really not doing yourselves any favors with this.

The buffet has become even more delicious; you can tell that much of it is homemade instead of store-bought. Great vegetarian selection! The option to order a portion is great! That way you don't have to pay for the entire buffet. The flat rate drinks for just €7 is amazing. Spend the whole day here, work, study, or even stay overnight. Every city needs an Unperfekthaus!

Service at the counter could be friendlier.

We were just a little late for lunch. It's a cozy place with lots to do. There was a group playing board games and another group crocheting and knitting. Very pleasant.

We stayed in Essen for one night and felt very comfortable at the Unperfekt Hotel. The room was well-equipped. The breakfast offered something for every taste. If we come to Essen again, it will only be at the Unperfekt Hotel.

I ate at Unperfekthaus and really enjoyed the mix of art and gastronomy. I particularly enjoyed the buffet – the small vegetarian dishes and homemade cake were delicious. The coffee was also surprisingly good. Overall, a relaxed place where you'll want to stay longer 🤍

A wonderful place where you can enjoy excellent food and drinks, and relax, entertain yourself, and be inspired in the rest of the house! For €25.50, admission to the house, hot and cold drinks are all inclusive. (Self-service on every floor) And breakfast and hot meals at the buffet are all inclusive!

A truly perfect experience at the Unperfekthaus! Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting the Unperfekthaus, located in the former Franciscan monastery, and our stay couldn't have been better. It was a special experience that exceeded all our expectations. Admission including a flat rate coffee and soft drink was €7, and for an additional €18.50 you can help yourself to the buffets all day or a single plate for €7.50. The tour of the house, which we received from the owner, Reinhard Wiesemann, was particularly noteworthy. His passion for this unique concept was palpable in every second and made the tour an unforgettable experience. It's impressive to see how this place can combine so much creativity and freedom. Each of the seven floors, each room, has its own story and charm – a true playground for the senses. The visit to the upper floor, where we were able to attend a band rehearsal, is particularly noteworthy. The view from the roof terrace over Essen's city center is unusual. You can chill there in dry weather. Or, in the basement, admire and/or purchase the "Kellerrepublik" (Cellar Republic) with its Skull Tower and other art objects. The culinary offerings at the buffet were also simply fantastic! The selection was extensive, and everything tasted delicious. It was the perfect end to a thoroughly successful day. The Unperfekthaus is not just a place, but an inspiration. It is living proof that great things happen when you give people the freedom to develop. We highly recommend a visit to anyone in Essen. We will definitely be back!

There are studios, exhibitions, and little surprises waiting to be discovered throughout the building. 🎶🎨 Each floor feels a bit like its own little world, filled with ideas and projects from artists and creatives. The concept is particularly cool: The entrance fee includes drinks like coffee, soft drinks, or tea ☕🥤 – a super fair deal! I really enjoy being here, the atmosphere, the positive people, the ambiance, the offers, the food...just relaxing. I like to immerse myself in this imperfect time for a few hours. Thank you for the towels.

A wonderful place! You can enjoy excellent food and watch the artists and musicians. And for €7 admission, non-alcoholic drinks are included. Friendly staff and a great place to work and just be.

Entrance fee is 7 euros with a drink package, and for another 7 euros you get a good plate of food. What more could you want? Simply top-notch.

An absolutely disappointing visit – and definitely my first and last at this restaurant. One scene at the buffet was particularly distressing: I was there with my young daughter and her friends to celebrate her birthday. It was our first visit to the restaurant, and while we were aware that only one plate per person was allowed, we assumed it was okay to place a small bowl of rice pudding on my plate and one on my daughter's. Instead of calmly and kindly informing us of a possible violation of the rules, an employee reacted extremely loudly, aggressively, and in a completely inappropriate tone. We were refused a return of the two small bowls; instead, we had to pay the full price for two additional portions – even though everything was on the single plate. The behavior was very unpleasant for me and a very distressing experience for my young daughter, who had been looking forward to a wonderful birthday party with her friends – especially since the scene was played out loudly in front of her friends and all the other guests. In addition, the food was of poor quality, in some cases barely edible, and in some cases undercooked – which, in my opinion, poses a potential hygiene risk. The way guests were treated seems completely inappropriate and very unprofessional to me; the food was disappointing, and in my opinion, there is cause for concern from a hygiene perspective. I personally cannot recommend a visit to this restaurant at all and will definitely not return.

During our travels along the Route of Industrial Heritage, the Unperfekthaus in Essen was always a very special highlight for me and my family. It was a magical place – a creative oasis in the middle of the city that invited you to linger. Whether for a good coffee, a piece of homemade cake, or a delicious meal: the Unperfekthaus was above all a place of openness, encounters, and warmth. The atmosphere was friendly, the staff interested and always open for stimulating conversation. However, we were disappointed on our last visit in June 2025. As soon as we entered, we were asked whether we wanted to participate in the buffet or go upstairs. When we explained that we were simply stopping by for a coffee, we were politely but firmly refused entry. We understand that concepts evolve – yet we regret the loss of this special openness that so many visitors appreciated. While the new buffet concept certainly has its merits, I deeply regret the loss of the open, inviting structure – precisely what once made the Unperfekthaus so special. It was a place open to everyone, without pressure to consume or fear of the threshold. I will cherish the memories of this special atmosphere – and hope that perhaps one day this unique spirit will return. In the past, I would have given it 5 stars without hesitation – today, unfortunately, only 3, because the open concept has fundamentally changed.

The Unperfekthaus in Essen is centrally located in Essen's city center! Events and guided tours are offered, and the Unperfekthaus Essen supports entrepreneurs and artists in many creative ways! There is also a restaurant, event and seminar rooms, and hotels!

The Unperfekthaus is unique and unconventional. A space for creatives and deeply inspiring for guests. It was my home base from 2006 to 2018, my workplace as an artist, a place of inspiration, a stage, a place for exchange, and a space for freedom. Every visit is worthwhile!

Apparently, short-term guests are no longer welcome recently. In all seriousness, you can't even order a simple cappuccino without paying the flat rate for the entire hotel. Impossible. Otherwise, I'd recommend it: an alternative cultural center, right next to Berliner Platz and the university. It offers excellent espresso, a pleasant place to sit in the morning and evening, and a pleasant staff. A portfolio of rooms for seminars and private parties, with an attached hotel.

The ambiance actually deserves 10 stars. So many cool details and corners for relaxing, working, and creative exchange. The drinks package ensures your thirst is always quenched, and the buffet is varied and plentiful. The hotel is beautifully furnished and, thanks to its size, very quiet. I'll definitely be back.

Wow 30€ for 2 people for an inedible breakfast. Don't forget an egg today, Rolls not fully baked, cheese sausage, liver sausage nearing the end of its shelf life and buffet selection, some gas stations have more... Oh yes, very cleverly, tipping in advance is not a bad idea. Not again…

It was the worst thing I've eaten. Or rather not eaten. People don't eat breakfast. Disaster.

I really enjoy being here and love the concept. But 9 euros for a large fries with mayo and ketchup - maybe you'll think again. 🤔

Perfect place for work and meetings.

A very creative place, from the lively ground floor to the sunlit roof terrace and with, among other things, a life 3D printer and a wide range of board games, as well as e.g. B. a frequently used massage chair. different flat rates at low prices. perfect place. We don't know the shared hotel. It's definitely worth a trip. They recently did a great renovation, modern with huge, breathing rooms

We have already tried the breakfast buffet and the lunch buffet so far and were very surprised at how delicious everything was, great if you want to get out of your comfort foot and at the same time want to discover something new, from bottom to top everything is just great to admire. The artists are very talented and you are simply fascinated at every stand. Since the first time, it has really been our first port of call if you want to eat something quickly in your free time, but also just to chat and have a drink, simply brilliant <3

Not a "normal" restaurant - more of a special place for creative and freelance people who are looking for a space in a central location for new projects and mutual exchange. I cannot rule out particular risks and side effects. A space for encounters with art, music, technology and creative people. Anyone who has been there will see the world with different eyes.

Fantastic location, fantastic service and fantastic staff. Particularly Michael who went above and beyond to give us an AMAZING experience. The concept is really interesting and we just fell in love with the place. Great vibes!

Normally everything would have been great, unfortunately today we were “overlooked” in the seminar room, even though the staff knew full well that we were there because the gentleman had checked again. Were then thrown out in a very unsympathetic and slightly passive aggressive way. Although card payment is possible, we were forced to pay in cash. The cash register was still clearly open. Very disappointing after so many fun visits to have to experience something like that (intrusive), especially when you couldn't even talk to them and were always ignored.

We didn't like it, we won't come back!

Unfortunately, the service staff are very unfriendly, arrogant and unprofessional. The buffet is inedible and overly expensive. The concept changes every few weeks and is totally half-baked. Unfortunately, the house no longer resembles a creative, feel-good place where people like to meet. Very unfortunate.

I would prefer to give no star at all. Rarely seen such an unprofessional shop. The blonde, very corpulent lady at the counter/service is so rude and insulting. How can you hire someone like that? The food / buffet is the worst and most disgusting that I have ever eaten. Just €2 frozen vegetables warmed up briefly, tasteless white rice, some tasteless meat that was kept warm for days. There was nothing edible and that for almost €20! The house itself / the upper area is not worth it. I don't understand why they charge €9 for it, a few seminar rooms, few students studying there, it looks like a youth center, very run down, no trace of art and creativity.

A unique place for creatives with endless possibilities

We were there today for Christmas breakfast, €14 for the buffet and €9 for entry and drinks flat rate, so a total of €23. The breakfast was more than poor. No fruit (except for 2 uncut apples on the bread shelf), no yogurt, no dips. The employees were reserved and even unfriendly. I asked for ham and it took the chef 10 minutes to open the package and put it on the buffet cart. There was hardly any activity, so it wasn't because of all the work. The vegetarian/vegan colleagues especially didn't get their money's worth. The only positive thing about the buffet was the homemade bread, which was very good. The coffee from the machine was just bitter. The atmosphere is nice and you could walk through the house, but overall it wasn't worth it for me. I thought about going with the family, but it's a waste of money.

We wanted to visit the house for about an hour and take a few photos, but the entrance fee of €9 was unfortunately a bit high for such a short stay. An alternative for shorter visits would be desirable. Otherwise, we really liked the house - some areas are really nice and original, but others, as the name suggests, are "imperfect". However, at times it seemed neglected rather than deliberately imperfect, which is a bit of a shame. Overall, an interesting place with potential for exciting photos!

The house is highly recommended for everyone who is looking for a safe space for creative and social activities. The pricing policy is absolutely fair, the food is great and the house is varied enough to invite you to linger in good company.

The Unperfect House is wonderful. I've been here for years and feel very comfortable. Everyone is welcome in the house and the opportunity to make nice and constructive contacts is always possible. The house has existed for 20 years to support creative people and artists. It is very easy to find contacts and exchange ideas. I can also confirm that the house is very LGBT friendly and offers many workshops and opportunities in this regard. The staff and guests are very friendly and open-minded. The house is a safe place without microaggressions, discrimination, mysogenic views, everyday sexism, anti-refugee views or racism. As a bisexual man and member of the LGBT culture/scene, a former refugee who came to Germany, I feel very comfortable here and can consider the Unperfekthaus as my second home. I invite you all to experience the house with all the interesting people and opportunities. Welcome :)

Ein tolles kreatives Haus mit viel Charme und Patina! Hier kann man mit großen Gruppen ungezwungen arbeiten und essen. Das Catering am Mittag war durchaus ok, die veganen Kuchen am Nachmittag dann aber Weltklasse! Die große Dachterrasse bietet Ruhe und Entspannung mitten in der City.

The restaurant itself is really great - the food, the prices, the ambience and the entire team is super friendly. I actually wanted to give 5 stars because everything was really good. Unfortunately, there is one serious negative point: A blonde employee with glasses and a gray hoodie was extremely rude to us. She showed clear impatience while we were trying to place our order and threatened my pregnant friend to keep quiet or she would throw us out of the restaurant (sometimes seemed racist). This completely ruined our mood. After finishing work, the atmosphere immediately relaxed. I don't understand why someone like that would work in such a nice restaurant.

The house advertises itself as being LGBT-friendly, but microaggressions and discrimination from guests are the order of the day here. I have also been able to experience several discussions in which mysogenic views were openly represented and went far beyond everyday sexism. I have also noticed several times here that openly anti-refugee views were expressed. I discussed many of the events with management and felt heard and taken seriously. However, no visible consequences were drawn that would make my stay there easier. I really like the concept of the house, especially the artistic aspect, which is why I don't want to give up my subscription too quickly. Unfortunately, I still don't feel comfortable here anymore and I won't make the mistake again of inviting other of my friends who are (obviously visible) minorities to this house.

Really a great place for a variety of purposes. Be it to linger or to work. And if it's too loud downstairs, you can find a quiet place to work on one of the upper floors. The coffee is very tasty and the brunch is not bad either! Highly Recommended!

I've been there several times, was able to work well there and also ate delicious food. Unfortunately, yesterday I had a disappointing experience: Due to illness, I can currently only eat bland foods and unfortunately none of the food they offer. That's why I asked if I could still sit with my colleagues and eat the snack I brought with me. Unfortunately I was met with zero understanding, the answer was simply no. I could have been offered to prepare something else, but that wasn't the case either. I understand that you don't normally unpack your own food in a restaurant, but in this case it was justified. There may also be someone who is hardly allowed to eat anything due to extreme allergies. I expected more understanding from a house that describes itself as “hospitable” on its website.

The best place to work on your projects, meet up with friends and meet new people.

So this house is just great. There really is something for everyone. No matter whether you want to take part in groups, events, or work there in peace. Or you just want to take a look at the whole thing, there really is something for everyone. Admission is more than justified. Drinks such as cola etc. and various coffee creations are free and can be found on every floor. Roof terraces and balconies also invite you to linger outside. The imperfect hotel can also only be recommended. And for larger groups, the shared apartment in the imperfect house is perfect. Go there and just immerse yourself. I will now visit this place regularly.

Surprise in Essen, best cappuccino together with Mister Espresso, very good cuisine, varied with a daily menu, great ambience with an attached cultural center. Many events, working rooms, suitable for all age groups, including large and small seminars or celebrations. Nice roof terrace. Versatile breakfast, vegetarian and vegan are possible anyway, but so are many other things. Sometimes signs and miracles do happen, here two of our favorites in Essen are only 100 meters apart. Connected hotel, also had very good experiences. If you want to accommodate guests from Tokyo, New York or Paris, then here, among others.

I haven't been there yet. But according to the information I received from those who went, it is a place where you can spend your day with different artistic workshops. It is both a restaurant and a suitable place where you can socialize. I will be there all day on January 23 for the art event. There will be live presentations. I am looking forward to it.

Leuk restaurant in een prachtig gebouw met een hele filosofie vlak bij het winkelgebied van Essen. De bestelling moet je aan de bar doorgeven, en het bestelde een paar meter verderop bij de keuken ook zelf weer ophalen. Kan charmanter als er verder toch weinig mensen zijn. Het eten is lekker en verantwoord, ik heb genoten van de gehaktballetjes. Het interieur lijkt een bijeengeraapt nonchalant ratjetoe te moeten uitstralen, maar is zorgvuldig gestileerd, als een soort La Place in een outletcentrum.....

The additionally ordered muesli bowl consisted mainly of sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Oatmeal and the granola described in the menu were only available in homeopathic doses (if at all). As I said, overall a very disappointing experience.

Wonderful atmosphere! Delicious chocolate milk, coffee and latte macchiato in combination with changing art on the wall. In short, a wonderful location for something to eat or drink.

I like specially the wall pictures, on the wall. Looks very pleasant. The unisex toilet is something I noticed for the first time. Meeting rooms are quiet.

Nettes Ambiente für Inspirationen und zum Arbeiten. Vor Corona hatte es mir aber deutlich besser gefallen, da es mehrere kleine Räume gab in denen mehr los war.

Addendum Sun November 19, 2023 I really liked the brunch buffet. Great selection and well thought out. 👍👌🥐 Today I was able to watch the Genesis show group training. I also look around a bit here. A visit here is definitely worth it. Great dishes, snacks and buffet. The individual rooms offer space for many different activities.

Great coffee flat (cheaper for students) for studying and meeting friends, although not 100% quiet, but that is made up for by several rooms. I can't rate the food because I only enjoyed the coffee here.

Ein tolles Erlebnis hier gewesen zu sein. Mir gefällt die Offenheit und Gemeinschaft der Gäste. Es ist wie eine große Familie. Hierhin komme ich gerne. Das gemeinsame Musizieren ist jedes Mal ein tolles Erlebnis.

Eines der besten Sachen, die Essen zu bieten hat.

Essen war sehr gut und das Personal war sehr freundlich. Das Ambiente ist im ersten Augenblick irgendwie verstörend, aber umso mehr man sich das Gebäude und das Konzept anschaut ist es umso nicer. Essen an der Theke bestellen und abholen ist wahrscheinlich nicht etwas für jedermann aber funktioniert natürlich.

Diese Rezension bezieht sich rein auf das Buffet. Das Haus und das Konzept finde ich klasse. Das Buffet war sowas von lieblos zusammengestellt und unterste Schublade. Eine Zumutung für die Gäste dieses Hauses. Sehr schade.

Ich bin seit 10 Jahren hier als Künstler aktiv. Das Haus hat einige Wandlungen durchgemacht. Doch im Kern bleibt es ein Treffpunkt für alle, die in irgendeiner Form aktiv sein wollen. Hier gibts Stammtische, Workshops und Konzerte. Auch spontan kann man einfach hinkommen, die Massagesessel und/oder die Getränkeflatrate genießen, mit uns Künstler*innen quatschen oder sich selbst Materialien zum Arbeiten mitbringen.

Ein sehr schönes Ambiente 👍 Perfekter Kaffee, super nette Bedienung und angenehm ruhige Atmosphäre ✔️

Preis Leistung Verhältnis für ein Brunch Buffet war schlecht. Getränke sind nicht enthalten! Aber sehr cooles Ambiente

Einfach mal was anderes und hier unterstützt man gerne. Die Idee mitten in der Stadt ein kreatives Künstler Haus zu schaffen in einem offenen und ungezwungenen Ambiente, fanden wir toll. Auf mehreren Etagen kann man hier Künstlern über die Schulter schauen und ebenso ihre Werke begutachten. Wenn man länger verweilen möchte, zahlt man 9€ pro Person Eintritt, darin ist auch eine Getränke Flat (Kaffee, Wasser….) inklusive. Es gibt Dachterrasse, Tischtennis, Massagestühle und im Erdgeschoss ein Café. Die Atmosphäre ist herzlich und gepflegt. Studenten (Eintritt 5€) können die Räume nutzen, um sich auf Klausuren oder Präsentationen vorzubereiten. Auch eine Bühne steht bereit.

Unperfekt - beschreibt es eigentlich schon am besten. Das Ambiente ist einzigartig, lässig, künstlerisch. Echt cool. Die Zimmer sind etwas altbacken aber echt groß, die Bäder sind super modern, aber nicht richtig gepflegt. Die Dusche ist stark verkalkt, in den "frischen" Handtüchern befinden sich noch Haare vom Vorgänger, das ganze Zimmer mit uralt Teppichboden. Toilettendeckel ist beheizt - coole Sache. Die Herrentoilette unten im Eingang ist allerdings mehr als ekelhaft, man pinkelt einfach in eine Rinne, der halbe Raum steht voller Pisse - ultra ekelhaft. Bedienung am Esstisch gibt es nicht, man räumt sein Besteck/Geschirr auch selbst vom Tisch. Das Buffet ist oft sehr einseitig und knapp gehalten - dennoch das Nötigste da. Leider kein Rührei etc. Säfte habe ich leider nicht entdeckt - nur extreme Süßgetränke und Kaffeeautomaten. Frühstück gibt es leider auch erst ab 09:00 Uhr. Am Kaffeeautomaten war die Kaffeesahne leider auch schon echt lange abgelaufen und davon lagen tatsächlich auch noch viele "Kapseln" in der Schüssel. Auf den Zimmern gibt es keine Wasserflaschen, auch sehr schade. WLAN ist top. Alles in einem kann man hier gut ein paar Tage verbringen für die Durchreise, Seminare etc. aber für 4-5 Sterne ist noch echt Luft nach oben. Ich würde auf jeden Fall nochmal kommen.

Heerlijk dakterras, aardige mensen en een goede sfeer. Prima biertjes voor een eerlijke prijs en de 9€ forfait ticket is meer dan redelijk.

Die Möglichkeit, unbegrenzt Getränke zu genießen, war für uns Studierende eine fantastische Option und wir sind sehr zufrieden mit diesem Angebot. Eigentlich eine super Location, wo ich gerne auch mal etwas mehr Zeit verbringe. Allerdings hat das Haus viel von seinem früheren Charme verloren, seit man mehr auf Co-working setzt. Die (neue) Volle-Freiheit wo man für 69 € Essen, trinken, Alkohol bekommt, lohnt sich quasi, nur wenn den kompletten Tag da verbringt. Und leider sind die Cocktails nicht so besonders. Caipirinha viel zu sauer, ein Cocktail mit Juice im Namen schmeckte extrem künstlich. Und allgemein viel Eis und wenig Alkohol im Cocktail. Da würde ich mir lieber die (alte) Volle-Freiheit für 40 € zurückwünschen, wo man zwar Essen und Softdrinks bekommt, aber sonst nur Bier und Wein.

Ein wundersames Haus, nicht perfekt, aber alternativlos, gutes Essen, internationale und Self-Bedienung, bunt, dunkel, freundlich, überraschend! Unbedingt besuchen und einkehren!

Wir hatten einen schlechten Tag mit semi-motivierten Leuten im Personal erwischt. Plätze zum Arbeiten sind vorhanden. Zum Abend hin wurde es voller, eine Gruppe Engländer hat die ganze untere Etage belegt und war ziemlich laut. Das ruhige Arbeiten war ab dem Zeitpunkt vorbei. Brettspiele sind genügend vorhanden. Auch die Auswahl an Kaffee-Spezialitäten sowie Softdrinks hat vollkommen ausgereicht für den 2-stündigen Besuch.

Danke schön für das herzliche Willkommen von 3 Kindern diese Woche die einfach einen Ort gesucht haben um nicht draußen in der Kälte essen zu müssen. Sie haben sie so herzlich eingeladen dass es jetzt zu den besten Erinnerungen gehört von dieser Campwoche in der Jugendherberge.

Also ich finde solche Orte sollte es mehr geben. Ein Ort zum gemeinsamen Treffen, ob Lernen, gemeinsam tüfteln, spielen oder Kreativ werden. Nettes Personal und Selbstbedienung an den Getränkeautomaten. Alles beruht auf Respekt, Vertrauen und Gemeinschaftssinn. 😊👍🏻 Preise finde ich fair.

Schöne Grüße an den herzlichsten und freundlichsten Barkeeper (02.03.2023). Der uns freundlich begrüßt hat. Selbst die Bedienung war top. Er weiß wie man eine Bar repräsentiert. Nach Absprache mit dem Barkeeper ,wollte ich meiner besten Freundin ne Überraschung machen. Ich habe eine kleine Torte mitgebracht und Kerzen. Ich wollte dort nicht mein eigenes mitgebrachtes verzehren, sondern einfach nur ihr diese Überraschung machen. Plötzlich sprang eine Mitarbeiterin des Hauses, was recht forsch ,und unfreundlich war, die uns recht angemeckert hat warum wir Kerzen und Kuchen selbst mitgebracht haben. Wir haben uns stets entschuldigt. Natürlich haben wir auch dort bestellt.und dem Barkeeper Trinkgeld da gelassen, weil er so herzlich war. Nach dem wir uns das von der Mitarbeiterin angehört haben das es nicht normal sei das man selbst gebrachtes Essen in einem Restaurant verzehren darf , sind wir aufgestanden haben bezahlt und das local verlasen. Der Barkeeper hat sich für die unfreundliche Mitarbeiterin entschuldigt. Und hat uns eingeladen wieder in den Laden zu kommen. Was wir recht herzlich aufgenommen haben. Beim 2 Male als wir das. Lokal betreten haben hat uns selbst der Chef herzlich aufgenommen und der Barkeeper war erneut , froh das er uns wieder gesehen hat. Wir wollten ihm das Gefühl vermitteln das wir nicht wegen ihm aufgestanden sind, sondern wegen diese unfreundliche Dame.Wenn ich einen kleinen Tipp dem Chef geben darf. Lass sie niemals diese Dame allein im Lokal ,denn sie repräsentiert ihr Konzept total gemein und frech. Leider kenne ich den Namen vom Barkeeper(mit den Locken ) nicht aber du bist klasse. Mein bester du hast uns als Stammkunde gewonnen.

Ist zwar schon 7 Jahre her, aber ich erinnere mich immer noch gerne an das großartige Barcamp, das wir damals im wundervollen Unperfekthaus veranstaltet hatten. Inspirierendes Haus.

Die Reservierungsanfrage wurde rasch beantwortet. Sehr freundliches Personal, hilfsbereit und höflich. Das Restaurant bzw. das UPH ist ein Muss bei einem Besuch in Essen. Es treffen alle möglichen Menschen aufeinander. Kunst und Kultur ist zu finden; Kreativität, Atmosphäre und und und.. Um es mit dem Zitat eines Freundes abzurunden „Das UPH ist unperfekt perfekt!“

Mega nettes Personal, faire Preise und es schmeckt alles was ich bis jetzt schon probiert habe. Auch die Einrichtung ist echt cool und hinter jeder Ecke findet man neue Sachen zu sehen. Empfehlenswert, wenn man mal in Essen ist. :)

Wir waren gestern das erste Mal nach dem Umbau im UPH (vor Covid regelmäßig, auch abends zum Essen). Nichtalkoholische Getränkeflat für 9 Euro ist immer noch unschlagbar günstig. Die neuen Räumlichkeiten sind erst einmal verwirrend, wenn man das alte UPH kennt, aber zum Glück hat sich nicht alles verändert, so sind zum Beispiel die Malereien im Treppenhaus hinten weiterhin da. :-) Wir können auch nicht bestätigen, dass die Mitarbeiter unfreundlich sind, wir hatten gestern zwei ausgesprochen nette Herren. Kleine Kritikpunkte - die angebotenen Schokoriegel, die man neben den Getränken findet, sind alle von Nestle, das würde ich bei einem Haus mit diesem Konzept anders machen (insbesondere, da man bei den Getränken ja auch auf Coke und Pepsi verzichtet). Bei den Gesellschaftsspielen, die man auch in einem der Räume verfügbar hat, fehlen leider teilweise schon Sachen. Aber andererseits kann man diese kostenfrei nutzen. Insgesamt aber weiterhin einfach ein tolles Konzept, und wir kommen auf jeden Fall jetzt wieder öfter.

Das Unperfekthaus in Essen ist ein spannendes alternatives Kunst-, Kultur- und Lebensraumprojekt in der Essener Innenstadt. Das Konzept dahinter hat sich gerade frisch erneuert, die Haltung bleibt aber sehr vergleichbar: Einen Freiraum schlagen für Kunst und Kultur, damit verbunden eben auch für Innovation. Dass dabei auch ein Co-Working-Space entstanden ist, lange bevor das Wort bekannt war, ist ein toller Nebeneffekt zum Beispiel für Studierende, die nicht in der Uni arbeiten und lernen wollen. Die Räume des UPH sind vielschichtig, mit begehbaren Ateliers und Werkstätten, die zum Austausch mit den anwesenden Künstler*innen einladen. Auch Theatergruppen und andere Performancekünste finden hier Raum und Arbeitsflächen, wenn sie sich günstig als Schaffende einmieten. Einen Sternabzug gibt es lediglich, weil die Bezahlmodelle für Veranstaltungen nicht immer im Sinne von Gästen oder auch Veranstaltenten sind. So wurde gerade zum Beispiel für Bands ein "Pay to play"-System eingerichtet, was Konzerte eher verhindert als fördert und nicht zeitgemäß ist. Aber wie ich das UPH über die Jahre kennenlernen durfte, wird es da sicher auch schon ein lösungsorientiertes Nachdenken über die Kritik geben und bald neue Experimente und Ideen. Trotzdem eine uneingeschränkte Empfehlung für Gäste und Tourist*innen in Essen. Auch viele Einheimische kennen das Haus nicht, was immer noch überraschend und schade ist.
