Baki-Besa Restaurant RaB in Essen

Located directly on Lake Baldeney with a view of the lake. If you don't know where it is, you might not find it, as there's no advertising on the street and hardly any on the building itself. The signs on the lakeshore are easily missed, and from the outside, it looks like a club's restaurant. However, everyone is welcome. There's a staircase leading to the entrance from the lake and a stairlift at the back. Free parking is available right next to the building. On sunny days, a lovely terrace with a lake view beckons. There are additional daily specials, such as sauerbraten, soup, liver, etc. The regular menu includes mixed grills, schnitzel, kebabs, salads, cakes, waffles, and much more. The portions were generous, and leftovers can be packed up and taken home. We sat comfortably and warmly by the window after a walk, enjoying the beautiful lake view, despite the brisk wind. A few Christmas decorations add to the cozy atmosphere. The separate room can be rented for events.

We spontaneously decided to visit Lake Baldeney today to take advantage of the beautiful weather for a walk with our dog. Hungry, we stopped here... the schnitzels we ordered were the best we've had in a restaurant in a long time. Everything was excellent and freshly prepared; we could tell immediately. The service was very attentive. This is what good food should be like, and we felt very comfortable outside in the wonderful weather – thank you so much for everything! The menus are ordinary. They said we couldn't pay the bill because our credit card was not a German card. This is the first time we have encountered such a situation.

A fantastic restaurant in the RaB clubhouse. The food is fresh and delicious, great home-style cooking and Balkan cuisine. We celebrated our wedding there and were not disappointed! The hosts are truly welcoming and make every effort to ensure everyone's well-being. We love coming here in the evenings and enjoying the wonderful view of the lake. It's truly beautiful and relaxing. Delicious Stauder Pils on tap 👌 Schnitzel is delicious! Plenty of space on the outdoor terrace.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A summer party like in paradise! We celebrated our summer party with over 30 people in this wonderful restaurant – and what can we say: It was simply perfect! The terrace right on the lake is an absolute dream. In case of bad weather, a beautiful room was reserved for us – stylish, cozy, and prepared with great attention to detail. We even got to choose the music ourselves; the volume didn't matter – anything was possible. The team was 100% attuned to our needs and, on a hot summer day with 33 degrees Celsius, served us with incredible attention, professionalism, and warmth, in full service attire (long black trousers, white blouse). The food was a veritable firework: fish, steak, chicken, skewers, vegetarian delicacies, fries, rice, lovingly prepared grilled vegetable platters, countless homemade sauces, dips, breads, and much more. Every plate was a delight! And as if that weren't enough, there was dessert: all the ice cream flavors were homemade, fresh, creative, and simply delicious. The self-service drinks bar was not only practical, but also perfectly organized and spotlessly clean – just like the entire evening. No wish was left unfulfilled; each and every one of us felt completely at home and well looked after. Went there for a 10th-grade graduation party. Great location right on Lake Baldeney. But the food was blandly seasoned, not very varied, and the buffet was actually cleared away after two hours. A rip-off, unfortunately.

The terrace is beautifully furnished and modern. A large space is available for celebrations. The dining area at the bar has a modern, cozy feel. The pepper cream schnitzel (€18.90) was very tasty. The size of the schnitzel was very good. The homemade coleslaw (€4.90) didn't completely convince me. It was too coarse and undercooked for me (grade 3). For 0.80 cents of mayo, they at least got two sachets. I've also received only one sachet several times. My wife had the meat skewer with fries, rice, ajvar, raw onions (cancelled), and a side coleslaw (€19.90). Here, too, everything was to her satisfaction. The side coleslaw portion can be described as large. We agree on the taste. The service was excellent. Very friendly and courteous.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Baki-Besa Restaurant RaB and would like to share my experience. Overall I give it 3 stars. The location of the restaurant is simply perfect - the view of Lake Baldeney is breathtaking and definitely adds to the atmosphere. It's a nice place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Unfortunately, the food didn't taste as good as I had hoped. The flavors and preparation didn't convince me. Another point that affected my stay was the service. The phone rang loudly and frequently, which I personally found inappropriate and annoying. Unfortunately, it disrupted the cozy atmosphere and I would have liked a solution to be found here. In summary, Baki-Besa Restaurant RaB offers some positive aspects, particularly the location and view, but there is definitely room for improvement when it comes to food and service.

Very tasty food, right on the lake, friendly service, clean

One dinner each in January and February 2025. We were positively impressed by the quality and portion size. I had the world's best grilled dish I had ever eaten. 👍 This evening I had a salad for a change, which was also appealing. The potato in the salad can't help it because it is a variety with little taste. If, like me, you grow different old potato varieties in your garden at home, this is also very difficult for the modern potato. As a chef you can't help it. TOP restaurant with a very hard-working boss and a good atmosphere in the team. Keep it up!!️🙏👌

I first became aware of the restaurant through a friend and have walked past here many times... Very friendly and courteous service. We immediately felt at home here. The food was tasty, but for my taste it could have used a little more seasoning. My personal highlight was the view of the lake ♥ while eating

Selling a piece of strawberry cake - small and mushy - probably from the previous day for 6.20 euros is really audacious. Never again !!!

Well, let's start with the positive... The view is great... Now for the negative... The schnitzel had no taste, the bratwurst looked catastrophic, there was far too much fat in the processing, so even our children didn't like it. The roll was from at least the day before and was stored in a plastic bag, so it looked like rubber. The fries weren't crispy and they weren't hot either. Although there were enough waiters running around and the restaurant was empty, there was no time to clear the plates after the meal and ask the guests if everything was okay. We even went to the counter to pay. We cannot recommend this restaurant and will not stop there again. P.s. there was no storm at the time. Bright blue sky 😉

Magnificent views of Lake Baldeney included! Very friendly staff, the food was delicious and there was enough quantity at a reasonable price. A cup of coffee in a really small cup. Very tasty, but not worth it. Too bad! The cake was not made in-house (frozen goods). You don't have to have it either. Overall, however, 5 stars because the food, service and location score points. We'll be back!

Service super nice. The salads we ordered were not to our liking. The main ingredient is coleslaws. The chicken schnitzel was raw in the middle. But it was then quickly returned to the kitchen and fried. Nice terrace overlooking the lake. If I go there again, I'll try a main course. Until then I was a bit disappointed.
