This restaurant is an absolute must. It's truly an experience. It's the first time you truly understand what "dark" means! The food was simply amazing; you actually perceive the taste completely differently. I'm thrilled, and you wonder if I've finished eating, how much time has passed, what am I eating? But I think the concept of having blind or nearly blind people working there is the best. The way the waiters are organized is incredible, and their orientation is amazing. And especially how they handle the noise that prevails there at times. I think this concept and the world you immerse yourself in there is an absolute must-experience for everyone, and I can only recommend it to everyone. Everyone there is so lovely. Thank you for an unforgettable, very enjoyable, and fun evening with you. We'll see you again.

When you go to a dark restaurant, it's difficult to talk about ambience. Because at the front of the reception room is an old pub. You are warmly welcomed and feel comfortable. The service is super nice and funny. The food is tasty, but nothing special. The really unique thing about it is that you guess wrong about what you ate. We were surprised. That was a really great experience.

Run-down, dirty corner bar (in the pub in front of it, which is basically the waiting room, and in the toilets you could see the poor condition of the place, and in the dark dining room we could feel the balled-up napkins of previous guests on our table), unfriendly staff in the anteroom, an unbelievable noise level in the restaurant, nasty food (started shockingly: completely soggy crispbread with a nasty herb curd as a "greeting". the kitchen") ... We couldn't finish any of the dishes and avoided dessert. The owner of the restaurant didn't want to hear our criticism and said it was the first time he had heard it. It must be up to us then. I'm really not a fussy person, but I've never been so disgusted in a restaurant. Especially in a dark restaurant you need trust in the staff, in the kitchen and in hygiene. In addition, given the really high prices, I expect a significantly higher standard at all levels.

It's worth an experience. Nice staff typically Ruhrpott. Food and drinks came quickly, and the conditions are always up for a joke.

It was an amazing experience. Had dinner there with three couples on Saturday evening. Food high quality and very tasty. We were with you for the third time today. It was another great experience. The food was delicious. We had 1x veggie and 1x fish. Our waiter Pedro was a super nice and funny guy. We will come back a fourth time. He said a sentence that will stay with me forever. He said that many people always say things like: If only you could see the beautiful blue sky. He said that colors are just words for him and since he has been blind since birth, there is nothing he misses. That really touched us. He also said that for him there is no visually beautiful or ugly, but that he can only judge by character. Absolutely defining sentence that shows how superficial some sighted people are. Respect. It was just great.

Had dinner in the dark for the first time today, but not for the last time. The service is absolutely great, the whole service from reception to farewell is amazing. We were given a voucher for Dinner in the Dark and were very excited to see what awaited us here. The parking situation is really not good and not suitable for new drivers. The roads are extremely narrow and you have to be really careful not to damage other cars if you have a big car. The staff at reception was super nice, asked which menu we would like and whether we had any allergies/intolerances, since you can't see what you're eating. It's very unusual to come into such a pitch-dark area at first and probably a little scary for some people. You will be taken to your table by the staff and then left to your own devices, except for bringing you food. If you have any questions or something similar, you can simply call the waiter. We had the vegan 3-course menu and it was super delicious! The dessert wasn't my cup of tea, but my husband was happy about two desserts 🤌🏼 We recommend it to everyone as it is a very interesting experience.

We were welcomed so nicely. And then the waiter Yunos was assigned to us. He was our absolute highlight, it was so funny and he was so friendly. I gave my mom a visit to the Finster for her birthday. It was easy to get there by subway and after a few hundred meters walk from the stop you had already reached the dark place. We were welcomed very friendly and shown straight to our table. We both had the poultry menu and had a lot of fun guessing what was on the fork (or not ;) You are always faced with small new challenges such as the question: "How am I supposed to get the water from the bottle into my glass?" Or “Did I put the napkin to my left or right earlier?” A great experience made even better by the excellent service! I can definitely recommend the Finster!

It's dark, you really can't see anything. I would have thought that you might still be able to see outlines, but no, it's really pitch black. Eddie guided us through the evening, a very great waiter with a lot of humor and fun at work. The food was very tasty. It's truly an experience to eat when you can't see anything. The solution to what it was will be given afterwards in a short follow-up conversation. A lovely evening, ideally as a group. Then you can guess together even more what is in front of you. I was given a visit to the restaurant for my birthday and was very satisfied. It is a very interesting and alternative experience. The waiters are super nice and you felt very comfortable despite the extreme darkness! It's really so dark that you can't see anything. The food was also great, but there were whole peppercorns in the food, which I personally don't like. Still super high quality and a great visit

You absolutely have to try this! From the reception to the service, everything was impeccable. The ambience was dark. Very dark. But it had a certain flair and was truly surprisingly beautiful. Above all, simply interacting with the senses... We each had a 4-course menu (Italian & fish), which was relatively simple and offered nothing "extraordinary" – but the dishes were WELL prepared. Kudos again to everyone there; it definitely won't be our last visit. Highly recommended!

Wir haben gestern einen Gutschein zum "Dinner in the dark" eingelöst! Was für ein Erlebnis 🪄 Es war großartig. Der Sinn des Sehens komplett weg, aber die restlichen Sinne werden aktiviert und der Geschmackssinn bekommt eine völlig andere Bedeutung. IRRE ! Das blinde bzw stark sehbehinderte Personal war der Knaller: ein toller Service, humorvoll und es wurde eine seitenverkehrte Unsicherheit der "Sehenden" so kompetent von den Mitarbeitern vermittelt, dass ich mich sehr wohl gefühlt habe. Hast Du schon mal im völlig dunklen gegessen, Dir etwas eingeschüttet und warst auf Deinen Tastsinn angewiesen, um Teller, Glas und Besteck zu händeln ? Ich bin beeindruckt, wie das unsere gehandicapten Mitmenschen bewältigen. Also mega Respekt, Wertschätzung und Hochachtung ❣️ Ich empfehle das Restaurant "Finster" !!!

We received vouchers as gifts from our children. Table reservation went great. The reception/entrance area is already darkened accordingly. You were warmly welcomed, in the next step you hand over your personal belongings, i.e. especially anything that can generate light such as mobile devices, smartwatches, etc. After selecting the dish/menu, you will be led to your table by a blind waiter/waitress a la polonaise. It's really dark in the dining room! You can't see anything, absolutely nothing! We then ordered drinks. Afterwards we started with the starter, you have to say the crew had the timing well under control from course to course, The meat was great in terms of taste and consistency. The drawback here is that the food was only slightly warm, not hot. Unfortunately for us, our question about what was on the plate was consistently ignored. Duration of stay from entry to departure 1 hour 45 minutes.

Yesterday we were in the dark with friends. An exciting and great experience to eat in complete darkness. We were welcomed very friendly and relaxed. All items, including bags and watches, are left at the cloakroom to ensure that all guests have a unique experience and that no (not even the smallest) source of light disturbs them. The selection consists of various menus in advance. There is something for everyone. I had the game menu…super tasty. Our waiter was super friendly, laid back, fun…thank you for the experience.

We were there for the first time today and it was absolutely amazing. When our waiter Mahmmoud led us into the dining room, we initially had an uneasy feeling because we were really in the pitch dark and couldn't even see our own hands in front of our eyes. But with his friendly and funny manner he immediately took away our fears. We had the beef, game and Mediterranean menu with three courses and a “fixed” starter. All three courses were delicious, the meat was tender and high quality. We all enjoyed it very much. The price was more than reasonable, three courses for around €55 per person plus drinks. And the experience is basically free (because everywhere else you pay the same or even more for three courses). Really highly recommended, we will definitely come back again! Thanks!

Today we visited Finster Dinner. The name says it all! You really can't see anything! Our waitress July (if you remember her name correctly) was outstanding! Something so friendly and accommodating and funny at the same time!! I would stop by again and again. Food, service and reception were top. Simply to recommend. What's a bit annoying is that it's very loud when eating in a dark, probably bare room when all the tables are occupied. Acoustic panels or sound absorbers would be helpful here. That was unpleasantly tiring. Otherwise it would have been perfect.

A wonderful, exciting experience. Great service, incredibly nice and funny waiters. That took away a lot of uncertainty for me! The food tasted delicious, but unfortunately it didn't suit my personal taste as it was rather special (but I'm also a difficult eater 😂). The birthday surprise was somehow incoherent and I wouldn't book it again. Parking on site was difficult. Unfortunately, the room seemed very small to me, it was loud and stuffy. It was really a unique experience, the waiters and staff were super laid back. I had the fish menu there, which was really super delicious. You only find out later what you ate, which makes it even more exciting. My friend had the beef menu and really enjoyed it too. The price-performance ratio is really great!

There were five of us there. The service and our service staff were great. The food we were served was good; But when we later "clarified" what we ate, it turned out that none of us had a complete main course: either meat was missing, there was no sauce, one or two side dishes were missing, etc. This shouldn't happen with a price of an average of €50 per menu.

STORE POISONES ITS CUSTOMERS!!! ABSOLUTE RUDE!!! About the story: -Online table reserved for 2 people -Clearly stated that there is a STRONG allergy to any kind of nuts -What was in the dessert all of a sudden... NUTS -accordingly, my companion had a strong allergic reaction -The ONLY one who helped us in this situation was the waiter Pedro -The rest of the employees were hardly interested and were simply overwhelmed -I had the list shown on site, it was clearly listed with the severe nut allergy, but no one noticed it -Afterwards, after several questions, we were finally able to speak to the boss on the phone, who also blamed us for the whole thing and also wanted the normal price at the beginning -Finally agreed to 30% of the price after a long discussion so that my companion could finally receive medical treatment and not have to wait any longer. -CONCLUSION: Absolute impudence from employees and boss, they didn't even ask how my companion was doing. Totally unfriendly! The only one who helped was the waiter Pedro, who was also visibly affected and was the ONLY one who helped us. Thanks Pedro. I will never eat in this store again and legal action will be taken if necessary.

It was my first time in a dark restaurant (01/27/25). You really have to say, it's a different kind of experience. You can hear the noises and the people sitting there too. The meal consisted of a 3-course menu. I ordered the poultry menu. I won't go into it in more detail because you can get a "picture" of it yourself :D. In terms of taste, it was also a new experience, as your head sometimes imagines different things. You also notice at first how difficult it is to eat when you can't see anything. But it tasted incredibly good and we had a lot of fun. Yunus was our waiter and you could generally see how the service staff thrive on their job. You could tell that in every second and you felt very, very well looked after. The dark restaurant Finster is worth every cent. Absolutely recommended! PS: Arriving early definitely makes sense. The parking situation on site is quite difficult.

Absolutely amazing experience. Yes, the portions are a bit small, but sufficient. The quality of the food is really good. Our waiter, Pedro, super funny and nice! We also had a nice conversation with him at the end. It's really exciting in the dark to gradually notice how big the room is, where people are sitting, etc. I can recommend it to absolutely everyone, we're also thinking about going again to try the other dishes. We did pretty well at guessing the dishes!

The quality of the food was excellent, we had the 4-course “beef” menu. Unfortunately the quantity was very manageable, so neither of us were satisfactorily full. But, as we found out later when paying, you can ask for a second helping. I wanted to spend a deeply relaxed evening with my husband, as I usually enter a state of being "very present" without the visual sense. Above all, it would have been nice to be able to concentrate on the tactile senses as well as the senses of taste and smell. Unfortunately, the other guests didn't want to have this experience because the auditory sense took over excessively in the dining room: everyone was talking so loudly that my ears almost burst. It seemed as if all the loud and loud talking was supposed to help overcome the uncertainty of not being able to see anything anymore. This is the typical inability to self-reflection and mindfulness, which I find sad in today's society. The loudest of all was the blind waiter Pedro - he spoke very friendly from the start, but very loudly. Even when there were initially only four guests in the room. When my husband let out a very clear and long-lasting “Psssst!” to make the others aware of their noise level, which was successful for a short time, he was immediately admonished by Pedro. Only he, as a waiter, was allowed to ensure peace and quiet, but he didn't comply. All in all, I can only recommend the restaurant to those who want to have a loud conversation in the dark. We won't go here again.

Eating in the dark was definitely a very good experience. We had dinner there with the family yesterday. My little daughter, 10 years old, wasn't afraid there thanks to the lovely waitress, Jolie. We were there yesterday, had the visit as a gift and came especially from the Rhineland. It was a really great experience! The staff and especially our waiter were terrific and the atmosphere in complete darkness was great! It was sometimes very funny, a bit strange at the beginning but still very nice. The food was also very, very good and it was a great experience, how you perceive the food and your surroundings in such a different way! We had the beef menu which is absolutely recommended. A big thank you also to our wonderful waiter Junus (or Yunus), who took great care of us and guided us through the evening with his relaxed and funny manner. Thank you to the whole team and respect especially to the waiters, what they do there and in their everyday lives is admirable! You become very aware of that there!

This was my second time visiting the Finster restaurant. There are around 5 years between visits and I can only recommend it. The employees are in a great mood and friendly. MEGA! Great experience completely in the dark. Very good and high quality food, we had the beef 4 course menu, and incredibly nice staff. From the reception to the bar to the waiter (thanks Pedro) everyone was very, very nice and friendly atmosphere during the visit from start to finish.

Really a special experience. The staff is very friendly, the food tastes good too, the dessert was the best. Beforehand, we also asked again about intolerances and allergies. However, I have to deduct one point because the portions are very small. The only other thing that bothered me was that it got very crowded afterwards, at least that's how it seemed to me given the volume, and you had to wait quite a long time between courses. Even after the last walk, it took quite a long time until we were led out of the room. Afterwards there was a breakdown of what you ate. But other than that it was really good.

Eating dark was an exciting and great experience. Unfortunately, points are deducted for the price-performance ratio and the setting. The 3-course menu included a very small starter soup, a tasty main course and an unusual dessert. It should be noted that the quantity of the main course was not exaggerated, which is good on the one hand, but not if you don't feel full throughout the evening. The room where we ate was extremely loud due to the conversations of other guests. Soundproof walls or something similar could perhaps have helped. So I often couldn't understand the person I was talking to. The service is extremely friendly and humorous. Overall it was a nice evening, I'm glad I had the experience. However, once is enough for me here.

It was a super great (taste) experience. Of course it takes some getting used to, but that's what's so appealing about it. We had the incredibly nice and personable waiter Pedro. A very empathetic person who takes away your excitement with light-hearted jokes and makes your stay in the "dark" pleasant and eventful. A great and impressive evening. We have never experienced anything so great. If you let yourself get involved in the darkness, you will have a great evening. Great food served at a top level, charming, funny and incredibly friendly. Top in all areas. 3 or 4 courses are served, each one better than the other. Vegan, vegetarian, meat, fish, there is something for everyone. Allergies etc. are checked in advance and you can rely on them even in the dark. Cell phones, bags, jackets, etc. will be handed in beforehand and stored safely. Digital detox at its best. Enjoy with all your senses. Unfortunately there are no photos of the food ;-). Was a great experience with good food. Beforehand, we could hardly imagine what dinner would be like in complete darkness. The waiter Eddi accompanied us throughout the evening and gave us a lovely evening

It was a completely extraordinary experience to eat in the dark and thanks to our nice waiter Eddi, the initial tension quickly disappeared. Everything was explained very well, we asked about any allergies or intolerances at the beginning and the food was really tasty.

So great you don't worry about how it would be like you can't see it anymore. Great experience. The food was simply great, although some forks failed. Our service Machmut is simply great, like the whole team

The food was more than enough and varied. I had the game menu. Eddy was lovely and rounded off the unique evening perfectly. We will be happy to be guests again.

Dinner in the dark restaurant was an incredible experience. Our waiter Eddie was super nice and explained everything to us well. With his open manner, he took away any tension in such an unusual situation. The dishes were exceptionally tasty. I had the vegetarian menu, my friend had the game menu. We were both more than satisfied. At the beginning you were also explicitly asked whether there was anything you didn't like. We really enjoyed it and the experience was very interesting. We definitely want to come again! :)

A great experience, highly recommended. Daring to eat without your sense of sight is something very special. All other senses are sharpened and are open to THE taste experience! The food was formidable, our waiter Eddie was great and we will definitely be back!

Ville score even though I've never seen the dining room, but I was able to experience it. It is and remains an experience even if, like us, you have eaten there several times. The best service for visually impaired or blind people. Really great. The cuisine is very varied and of very good quality. We'd love to come back. I'll add photos of the inside later.
