Ume no Hana in Hamburg

So how can you possibly make such good pho soup and still stay under the radar? This restaurant focuses on its strengths, and it excels at them. The pho soup is flavorful and fresh, the broth is rich and comforting. The noodle dishes are also impeccable. The only drawback is the lack of card payments, but that's no reason for me to give it a star less.

The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We really enjoyed it here. The only criticism I have is that you couldn't pay by card. Otherwise, everything was great.

We ordered Pho Bo, pork gyozas, edamame, and Goi Dau Basil (a salad), and an avocado and coconut dessert, along with a couple of homemade drinks, and everything was delicious! The place was quite quiet, and the only downside was that they only accept cash (the price was about €25 per person). We'll definitely be back!

Love this restaurant for its soups. Unfortunately, things didn't go as usual this Friday. - Waited outside for 25 minutes despite having a reservation. And then got a seat in the aisle instead of the reserved quiet corner. - About a 3cm long metal wire in the summer roll, and only received an apology "won't happen again." That's life-threatening. - The soup was fantastic, as usual. We tried not to let it spoil our evening. Somehow, I'm not sure if I want to come back...

I went to UME NO HANA with my family – and what can I say: it's my favorite ramen in Hamburg so far! We tried the ramen and pho bo – everything was excellently prepared, with great attention to detail and full of flavor. A big thank you to the chefs – we'd love to come back!

We passed by here and the restaurant was full, the outside area was very simple and unspectacular (but still cozy). First of all, the service was friendly and quick. The food and drinks came extremely quickly. It was super, super delicious! We'd gladly go back.

Cash only, but you can also pay with PayPal. I had the Chicken Gyoza and the Spicy Miso Ramen, it was really good and totally filling. Service was fast, but a bit clumsy, they got our order wrong twice but fixed it really quickly. The seats outside are alright, but definitely not for everyone, as they can get really uncomfortable really fast. Overall the food was delicious and I would highly recommend it, the service was friendly too. They have vegetarian options and German/English menu.

I don't recommend this restaurant. The staff is unfriendly and seems annoyed and bored. There's no bill, no receipt, and all payments are made in cash. A lot of it probably goes "by the tax authorities," in short, without paying taxes. They type something on their phones, and when I asked for my bill, the waiter simply walked away.

It was delicious, the interior has a special charm, and you can choose between Vietnamese and Asian dishes. The beef udon xao bao is highly recommended!

It's okay. The menu is varied. However, my ramen was pretty bland. And the recommended cocktail tasted like they forgot the alcohol. Unfortunately, payment is only possible with cash. And when paying, they only show a receipt on your phone. This business behavior, in particular, means we won't be coming back.

The food is quite okay. Our orders ranged from rather bland and overly greasy to delicious. There was a mix-up with one dish (although it wasn't clear which side served it), so we were suddenly served a meat dish that we hadn't ordered. We weren't offered any alternatives. With eight dishes ordered, plus appetizers and multiple drinks, I think it should be possible to accommodate the customer a little.

The spring rolls, summer rolls, ramen and curry were delicious and so filling!!

The name "Ume no hana" comes from Japanese and means "plum blossom." It was during this time that founders Thuy and Khanh traveled through their home countries of Vietnam and Japan, surrounded by the delicate blossoms that inspired their choice of name. Lots of flies, inattentive service, and completely tasteless food. The gyoza were obviously frozen, and the rest of the food was equally bland and unloving. We've rarely eaten anything so bad. Definitely not a recommendation – and certainly not a second visit.

I love the food and the atmosphere here, especially on summer nights it's very cozy. The only thing you have to remember is that you can only pay in cash. Very old-fashioned but not a big problem.

First, the positives: We got a table relatively quickly, and the food was served promptly. The menu offers a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The portion sizes of the main courses were perfectly fine. Unfortunately, there were also a few points of criticism: While the service was fast, it didn't seem particularly attentive. After paying, the dishes, already stacked by the staff, were simply left on the table – we would have preferred to take them away immediately. The noodle dishes and tofu were unfortunately very greasy, which significantly impairs the flavor. The vegetarian spring rolls were extremely small and disappointing considering the price. Furthermore, the homemade lemonades and iced teas were so sweet that we had to reorder water and ice cubes. Overall, a mixed impression – with room for improvement, especially in terms of service and the balance of the dishes.

Ein Konzert in der Große Freiheit 36 lockte mich nach Hamburg, eine Übernachtung hatte wir gebucht. Doch bevor es richtig losgeht, müssen wir uns noch ein wenig stärken. Das ist gar nicht so einfach denn meine Frau hat eine Glutenunverträglichkeit und meine Tochter isst nicht alles. Hier wurde sie im Vorfeld schon fündig, also liefen wir extra zu diesem Restaurant. Für die Mittagsmenüs waren wir etwas spät, doch auch die Standardpreise sind moderat. Dank der guten Kennzeichnungen in der Karte wurde meine Frau schnell fündig und bestellte wie ich COM CARI DO (leicht scharf). Wir mussten nicht lange warten und das Essen stand auf dem Tisch. Mit frischen Zutaten, gut abgeschmeckt und großzügigen Portionen waren wir nicht nur satt, sondern können das Essen nur empfehlen. Essen hätte 5 Punkte verdient, beim Ambiente ist noch Luft nach oben.

My gfs and my stomach have been hurting since we ate the ramen here. That has not happened once with countless ramens that we ate in Japan recently. On top of that when I gave the waiter 40€ to pay for ramen, he kept waiting and showing me the receipt. And when I said yes it is 33€ right, he says: Okay, but what about the tip? Our whole “service” exchange was “two ramen” and “thank you”, I am not sure why the staff would feel entitled to a tip. I would probably even leave 1-2€ on the table when leaving, but this was just really rude. I guess we are in the US?

The best Pho in town, with a super cozy open area, ideal for spring and summer. On cold days, don't forget to make a reservation, as everybody also wants to eat in Ume no Hana.

Hi! I of course didn't tried everything, but I had vegan nem (fruhlingsrollen) and they were really nice. It's really rare to find good once here in Germany. There is some other nice once in Hamburg, but again it's rare. During my last hollidays I did 5 Asian restaurant to get some and it was always industrial and not fresh. Here they are fresh, with good ingredients, nicely fried and taste nice. I could enjoy to javelin salad leaves and mit with, but honestly it's already great considering what we are used to here in Germany. Thanks!

Pay with cash only. I had a suuuper delicious dinner. Very simple and authentic, tasty and diverse vegan options, fast service and likable staff. I can recommend this place to anyone who likes asian food. Ps. don‘t forget the home made lemonade (my favourite: maracuya lemonade).

We went there for dinner and all ordered a different form of ramen. I had the spicy ramen and loved everything about it. I do think it should have been way spicier but the noodle texture, the vegetables, and the broth were exceptional. Hanoi Passion was all a very nice drink.

Overall, everything tasted good. A bit grubby, sticky tables and cutlery. But that's probably the style. I find it unhygienic. It would make me feel better if I could have seen the kitchen :) Man pays the same as other Vietnamese... So thanks but probably not again 🙏🏽

Wir waren hier zum Mittagstisch und saßen auf der Terrasse, sehr urbane Atmosphäre. Service war nett. Vorspeisen gut. Hauptgerichte ok. Leider wollten wir dann auf Toilette gehen. So etwas widerliches haben wir noch nie gesehen. Sauberkeit und Hygiene sind hier Fremdworte. Das war unser letzter Besuch hier.

Great restaurant, very tasty food, great selection! Attention: little chance on the weekend without a reservation. But: Reservations were quick and easy to make by email. The restaurant is decorated in Asian style. The service is very friendly. The food didn't take long to arrive. Sticky rice with mango and coconut milk is highly recommended as a dessert because it's so delicious! The drink selection is awesome! Real Vietnamese coffee (cold or hot) - that's exactly how we drank it in Vietnam. Overall excellent! We would love to come back!

Called in advance to reserve a table for two. The food was very good and there is an explicitly vegan menu (green pages) with a large selection. Gyoza, summer rolls, classic vegan ramen bowl were very tasty. Important: cash payment only, tips are expected… We would still recommend!

The food is awesome! The ingredients are super fresh and the quantities are generous. I had a crispy duck with lots of fresh vegetables and a coconut mango sauce. A dream and rarely eaten so perfectly seasoned. The restaurant may be small, but the service is super friendly with an authentic atmosphere. There is even a vegan menu with a lot of dishes!

Unfortunately, I have to say that I didn't like the Tantanmen at all. I have eaten ramen in many restaurants and often cooked it myself, so I have a lot of comparisons. The other food from my friends was okay but nothing more. I thought the prices were quite high for what you get. Ums no Hana is always popular because there are Vietnamese, Japanese and Thai dishes. There is a whole section on the menu for vegetarian and vegan dishes. All Pho dishes are very good! I can especially speak up for gluten-free options here! I find it a bit cramped inside but outside it is beautiful in summer and winter.

Delicious food, attentive service

Well, we actually like going here, the pho is really the best, it's all true, I never write a review but I hope the boss let us know that there was such a disgusting smell in the store today of dead mice, mice, piss, that's so unpleasant, everything goes away, you have to do something about it. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back for now, maybe something will change

The restaurant is extremely narrow and very loud. That's not comfortable. The Vietnamese dishes are ok, but I absolutely cannot recommend the Japanese cuisine here. The miso ramen had nothing to do with an authentic Japanese soup: watery, clear broth without miso flavor, far too few noodles, unseasoned, dry pork belly and vegetables and herbs that do not belong in Japanese cuisine.

I love the food here. It always tastes excellent and authentic. But the service really leaves a lot to be desired. The waiters always give you the feeling that they are not in the mood. It all seems very listless and unfortunately you don't really feel welcome. Best to order to take away. Then you can enjoy the delicious food without feeling bad. If the food wasn't so delicious, the store wouldn't be able to treat customers like this for long.

That's awesome people!! My curry udon tasted simply fabulous. Homemade noodles are very cool!! I was also very pleased that the vegetables were very fresh. The cocktails were also very tasty, refined with fresh berries. It was a bit uncomfortable to sit outside, you sit on the stools. Nevertheless, it was so delicious that we completely forgot about it :) The staff is very nice, the food and drinks are served super quickly despite the higher number of visitors. Reservation is highly recommended. Without a reservation, around 30 of us waited outside.

You have to make compromises with the restaurant itself, small, narrow, loud, moderately comfortable, the tables are glued. The transition from shabby chic to rancid is close. And only paying in cash is no longer appropriate.

Unfortunately only mediocre. Unfortunately, the vegan ramen was rather bland. Despite having a reservation, you had to wait for a table and the seats were so close together that you could hardly sit comfortably.

The food is ok. The ramen might not be the best we've had in HH, but it was good. The curry was very tasty, but the portion was far too small and there was hardly any meat. I would possibly come back again for a second chance. However, you also have to say that the ambience is really not that great and you sit very cramped next to the neighboring tables. By the way, you can only pay in cash or with PayPal!

Great place for your Asian cuisine needs ! I only had the time to test the Phõ, and it's quite good. Not exactly the recipe I'm used too (no meatballs or tripes) but it's still very good. The broth is not too fat, very savory and fresh, full of herbs (cilantro, thai basil, soy beans and lemongrass) and the beef is tasty. Served with lemon and some kind of vinegar garlic on the side; we really enjoyed it ! I'd like to test the ramen and some of the starters next time !
