TYO TYO Sushi Restaurant Hamburg in Hamburg

We ordered eight pieces of sushi (chicken), a small portion of salmon with rice, a small portion of salad, and a Coke. The food tasted okay, but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the price: €72 for this small selection is simply too expensive. The portions were small, the quality wasn't exceptional, and overall, the value for money was not at all good. Conclusion: The food was average, but far too expensive for what you get. Not recommended if you value fair prices.

Food quality is good but even too many flavors which are covering the fish taste. Service a bit slow but ok.

Good sushi and a nice location, BUT it was sometimes overpriced, and above all, the male waitresses lacked respect and decency. A tip of €21 plus a €60 plate charge for 8 people (actually only €48, because it was €6 per person, so another €12 extra in tip) was apparently too little?! No thanks, no goodbye, but instead the stupid comment to my guests as they left: "only €21 for the evening." A real shame, and unfortunately a reason not to come back!

The food and atmosphere were good. However, our drinks didn't arrive for 35 minutes. It shouldn't have happened. I can understand that for the food, but waiting more than half an hour for the drinks isn't good. We were all thirsty.

So what can I say? If you want to experience sushi in a completely different way, this is the place for you! It's amazing how the people in charge of the kitchen handle various exquisite ingredients and how they create so many different flavors... Ask for advice on the wine! Here, too, top quality meets reasonable prices - but the service and quality on the plate, and especially in the glass, are absolutely justified! My tip: Surf & Turf Sushi Roll with the Pinot Gris from the Manz winery (Rheinhessen)... a dream!! Have fun trying it...

Incredibly elegant and delicious restaurant! The sushi is incredibly delicious, and there's a wide selection. The value for money is just right. The "main courses," unfortunately, aren't quite as good. We also had the Szechuan chicken, which we wanted to share. For the hefty price, it was really just a small snack. The dessert platter for two was also more suited to a single person: a thin slice of cake, a mirror of mango puree, a scoop of ice cream, and a small dollop of berry puree (?). There wasn't much to share. If you only come for sushi, you're definitely in good hands here – for everything else, it's more like small portions, big prices. But I think that's standard for fine dining.

For me, there's only Tyo Tyo for good sushi and good quality. The atmosphere is perfect, the chef is very attentive, and everything is made with love. I can only recommend it.

We ate at Tyo Tyo today for my boyfriend's birthday. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed overall. The food tasted good and was also visually appealing – no question about it. However, I didn't think the value for money was right. We ordered a few things and were told the quantity was sufficient for hungry guests. Nevertheless, despite a bill of around €160, we both went home rather hungry. In my opinion, that simply shouldn't happen in this price range. Unfortunately, there are hardly any filling snacks that you could order as an addition. I know you can't expect it – but in a higher-priced restaurant, I would have appreciated a small birthday present. It would have been a nice gesture and would have made the visit more personal. All in all, it wasn't a convincing experience for me, and I probably wouldn't go there again – there are simply alternatives where the overall experience is more harmonious.

First-class sushi in a cool atmosphere. Check out the menu beforehand – 90% of the dishes here are "effect sushi," a fusion of cuisines from all over the world. That's not what everyone is looking for. So, if you're looking for classics, this is probably the wrong place. However, if you're keen on new creations and ideas and are happy to pay a little more for them, Tyo Tyo is highly recommended!

Very poor service and a snotty boss! The online said they were open until 11:00 PM. So I called at 8:30 PM and reserved a table for two at 9:30 PM, specifically asking for the name of the employee, "Julia." When I got there, they told me the kitchen closes at 9:30 PM. I was very disappointed. I tried to explain my problem and that I had reserved a table. Suddenly, a woman came over and said she was the boss. We explained our problem, and she told us we were lying. That she was standing next to Julia when Julia supposedly told us on the phone that the kitchen closes at 9:30 PM, which wasn't true! Suddenly, the boss got loud and asked if we didn't "get it." We should please leave the place immediately. We had never experienced anything like this before. The poor employees, having to deal with such a "boss."

Sushi for special occasions! The food at Tyo Tyo is definitely worth the high price. The appetizers were truly incomparably delicious, and the sushi appealed to all taste buds. Highly recommended! The cocktails were comparatively more expensive with lots of ice, but they were still very tasty creations. The service was extremely friendly and the ambiance was definitely upscale, which makes the whole experience very special. While it's not an everyday meal, it's definitely worth a visit!

Tyo Tyo is one of my favorite restaurants. The sushi selection is fantastic, and there are plenty of vegetarian rolls that aren't exclusively made with cucumber and avocado. The ambiance is great, and the service has always been impeccable and attentive. The only thing I have to complain about are the drink prices. They are quite high.

A very cozy restaurant with great sushi and fantastic non-alcoholic cocktails. Before we get to the food: Big praise for the staff. Super professional and super friendly, even when a potential guest arrived who, somewhat aggressively, expressed his "experience in the business and his problem with the kitchen's opening hours." The sushi creations are very successful in my opinion. Classic basics with creative extensions, but still very good sushi. The price/performance ratio was perfect for me. The dessert selection was extremely well-chosen (try the chocolate cake), but I found it too small for the price. The menu was just a bit too overloaded for me.

There were three of us at Tyo Tyo Sushi. We ordered water but didn't get any, yet we were charged for two bottles (large and small). When we asked, the waitress said the bottle had been opened, so we had to pay. That's not true—we didn't get any water at all. The bill was also about €15 too high. We only noticed this after a careful inspection. Very unfriendly and unfair service. Please be sure to check the bill before paying.

First of all! It was the best sushi for me! Really great service! And a lovely atmosphere! Waiting times were announced. BUT, and even though we complained and there was no response other than... people, I'll continue... every other guest should know, the high prices for the incredibly delicious cocktails are absolutely unjustified, because more than half of each glass is ice! And that's an absolute disgrace! Next time we'll simply skip the cocktails, because we'll be happy to come back! I think the photos speak for themselves.

The restaurant is stylishly decorated. My order was forgotten, and I had to wait almost an hour for a sushi platter for two. That was a real shame and somewhat spoiled the experience. Nevertheless, the ambiance is great, and if the service were a bit more attentive, it could be a truly great restaurant.

We spontaneously decided to celebrate my sister's birthday here and were very pleasantly surprised. The food is incredibly delicious, the ingredients are fresh, and everything is beautifully presented. The ambiance is also impressive, with its beautiful decor and view of the canal. I really liked the fact that the sliding windows facing the canal can be opened if it gets too stuffy, for example. The waiters also always made every effort to ensure the best possible experience. I would definitely come back!

The food is a 10 out of 10!!! The table outside by the water wasn't exactly clean. Cobwebs on the chair and a fly on the napkin weren't so nice.

Tyo Tyo's culinary offerings were truly impressive, especially the tuna tataki, which was a highlight: tender, lightly smoked, with a lovely sesame aroma. The truffle tuna was also intense, but not overly so. The tuna maki were well-rolled and fresh, perhaps with a tad too much rice for my taste, but still within reason. We paired them with a Pinot Gris, which was at a good temperature and went surprisingly well with the sushi. The only downside: It was quite loud, with the agua constantly playing in the background, and there was a lot of conversation in a small space. If you prefer a quieter setting, you might want to avoid rush hour. Service was friendly and quick, and prices were a bit high, but justified for the quality. We would definitely come back, but next time we'll make a reservation a little later in the evening.

The ambiance is modern and cozy, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or as a couple. The value for money is good; you're happy to pay a little more for the quality. If you want to enjoy good sushi in Hamburg, TYO TYO Sushi is the place to be. I'll definitely be back.

The two of us ate three different sushi dishes: Green Shiso, Tempura Golden Crunch, and Cashew Glow. All three dishes were delicious! Our food was beautifully presented by the remarkably polite staff, so we had a great time overall. Another contributing factor to this wonderful experience was that we (by chance) were seated in the same seat we had sat in five years ago 😊 10/10 again and again ❤️

This "in-restaurant" is quite good in terms of food, but there are some definite "catches and eyes." The sushi was very good and belongs to the upper echelon, if not the top tier. What is completely unacceptable, however, is that you are informed right from the start that you only have two hours at your table. If that isn't enough, you can always sit at the bar (which is, however, completely overrun with waiting guests). However, if the appetizer takes 45 minutes, it's more than a tight squeeze! And then, after two hours, you are actually asked if you want to pay. IF I SPEND 100 EUR PER PERSON IN A RESTAURANT, THAT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE IN MY VIEW, which the really nice waitress confirmed! I should also mention that the restrooms were very dirty! Sorry, but that's completely unacceptable, even if the food was good. When I complained to the restaurant manager (?), I only received the completely unnecessary response that it was because of Friday... No, no, no! Completely overrated restaurant.

We each ordered four menus, each with fish and meat. Fabulous and balanced. We sat on the terrace right by the water. Only the drinks could have come quicker. The price isn't for every day.

The sushi was incredibly creative and delicious. Fresh, and the combinations tasted incredibly good. The rice had the perfect consistency and was rolled thinly. The real, freshly grated wasabi was delicious and definitely worth trying.

Spicy Edamame was way too salty, so unfortunately it was inedible. Everything else was great!

Not worth the money I ordered sushi at this restaurant but was disappointed. The prices are very high compared to the quality. The truffle sushi had no truffle flavor at all, and the cashews were moist instead of crunchy. The fish wasn't of particularly good quality. The alcoholic drinks barely tasted of alcohol, but were still very expensive. The server served us water and took the bottle away even though it was still a quarter full—without asking. The ambiance was really nice and pleasant, but unfortunately, that alone isn't enough. I wouldn't go back because of the prices and the quality of the food.

More show than substance. The food is okay, but nothing special. The overpriced price is concealed with all sorts of gimmicks like chip decorations and sauces on the sushi and dry ice vapor. All good and pretty for Instagram and the like, but good sushi (that also tastes like sushi) definitely comes in a different form. The same basically applies to the cocktails. Pretty to look at, too expensive, too few/small, and taste-wise, mediocre at best.

Great sushi restaurant in Hamburg! The quality and taste of the vegetarian sushi absolutely won me over and delighted me. We received a very friendly welcome and a quick tour of the restaurant, then we were allowed to choose which area we wanted to sit in. Drinks and food arrived relatively quickly. The dessert (chocolate matcha cake) is also highly recommended! The restaurant itself has a beautiful location right on the water, and the interior is very nice. Of course, everything is a bit on the expensive side, but you get what you expect, and it's of a high quality! We'll be back ;)

The service is somewhat inconsistent: we've had some extremely positive experiences, but we've also had moments where it lacked friendliness or attentiveness. Nevertheless, we've always had a good time there and will definitely return.

The location is truly Instagrammable... as are all the dishes that come out of the kitchen. Nice in taste, composition, and quality! However, we apparently encountered a waiter who was extremely unmotivated and annoyed that evening, and who treated us with disinterest and arrogance, both in his choice of words and his comments on our food choices, as well as in his gestures and facial expressions. We were somewhat stunned. We were frankly glad for him when we finished our food, paid, and left the beautiful restaurant. The waiter couldn't possibly have been a professional in the restaurant industry (we both have a gastronomic background and can judge that with a clear conscience, I think.) All he was missing was a "roll of the eyes" in our direction. We laughed heartily about it later, but due to the fact that we weren't treated like that by the hidden camera for fun, we agreed that there are far too many good sushi places in Hamburg and the surrounding area for us to return to that place of discomfort.

Meine Frau und ich gehen so oft wie möglich in verschiedene Restaurants, haben schon viele mit asiatisch Fusion Essen aber der Tyo Tyo ist immer auf ein andere Level. Es ist ein Lokal wo einfach alles stimmt, von der nette Empfang bis zu der schönen Räumlichkeiten, der nette Kellner der uns schon kennt und weiss welche Wein wir trinken und mit welche Rythmus die Speise serviert werden sollen, es passt alles perfekt. Ach , und vergessen wir hier nicht die Speisen, alles immer sehr frisch, toll zubereitet, grossartig. Ich glaube wir waren schon ca 10 Mal ins Tyo Tyo und ich freue mich auf die nächste Besuch.

This is the fourth time I've been there and I haven't regretted it once. The location is beautiful and is right on the water, which is particularly nice in summer. The food is excellent and the service is top notch. Of course the price is in the higher segment, but quality has its price.

We had visitors and wanted to try out TYO TYO in the hope of convincing our guests of good sushi. Our expectations were far exceeded. Starting with the friendly reception, which was very accommodating. Top food, fast service, competent waiter/waitress

Playing around with the smoke is unnecessary, the sushi is extremely good and doesn't really need any "show effects". The team is very accommodating, friendly, relaxed and funny. And above all: the sushi combinations are not trying, as long as they are really exciting and original. Priced at the upper end of mid-range, but that feels fair.

Honestly, my favorite Japanese spot in Hamburg! Some might argue for the pricier places, but in my opinion, Tyo Tyo strikes the perfect balance—delicious food at a reasonable price.
