Sushi Lô in Hamburg

I was a long-time friend of this house. I recently sent a reservation request asking if I could come with friends late after one of my concerts at 10:30 p.m. I didn't get an answer, so I asked at my next lunch. The reservation was even already entered in the book! After the concert, we arrived at the restaurant at almost exactly 10:35 p.m., hungry and in a party mood (it was one of the friends' birthdays). When we asked, the waitress told us twice that unfortunately they wanted to call it a day. I insisted that I had a reservation - to no avail. The entire staff was still there, they all stood there snotty. When we were hungry we had to look for another restaurant that was still open at that time. That's not how you treat old friends. I will avoid the restaurant until further notice. Sure, the food is good, but there are other good sushi restaurants in town.

Basically a nice sushi restaurant. We've been here several times. But the impression is that it has subsided within the last 2 years. Overall, the sushi is tasty, but it was also better. This refers to the amount of fish contained and the freshness. Even though the place was only half full, we had to wait 35 minutes for our first meal. (Measured after order placement) It seemed a bit as if something had been forgotten about us in the last corner where we were sitting.

The first time we were there, we waited over an hour for our food, and at first our food was served at the table next to us, so it was complete chaos. Once and never again!

By far the best sushi shop in all of Hamburg and the surrounding area. We were suggested the store about 2 months ago and have been there weekly ever since. The quality of the sushi and tempura shrimp are great! The homemade spicy mayo and the lemonades are fresh and taste good. The service is very friendly and very attentive. We always enjoy coming back. Definitely a heartfelt recommendation.

If you want to eat inexpensive and delicious sushi you should definitely go to Sushi Lô! There are several Sushi Lô locations to choose from within Hamburg. We visited the restaurant on Rothenbaumchaussee with a group of friends. Everyone has put together their favorite dishes from the extensive menu. Mostly sushi rolls were ordered. The majority of sushi rolls consist of 5 or 8 pieces, which cost between €5-10. Roughly speaking, you pay around €12 for a roll of 10, which is great value for money. The food was super tasty and we were served by nice service. The shops are full on weekends, so you should make a reservation as a precaution. We're still happy to come by!

Good sushi at a good price-performance ratio

Great food, very tasty and friendly team. Will pick up food here again. There's no need for the overpriced "high-priced" TV chef next door. The sushi here is absolutely up to the mark in terms of quality and is a joy to eat. The service is also outstanding.

I am no sushi fan. I have been trying to get myself to eat it and accept raw fish, however many places fail to get me to love it! Then comes this restaurant, and oh lord, now I understand why people love it. The fish doesn’t smell, I love the different varieties and I love the sauces. Worth the visit.

The food tastes good so far. However, what I would like to mention here and warn others is that it has happened several times that I was not given enough change when picking up take-away food (sometimes €2 and sometimes €1). It's happened too regularly now for me to say it's accidental. Especially since it was always to my detriment and they don't accept card payments on site. That's very strange!

The aquarium could be cleaned again. Sushi very tasty. Service good.

Unfortunately I had a very bad experience. Previously it was definitely tasty and better. Ordered 2 chicken dishes and the food came to the table within 5 minutes and unfortunately it was clear why it happened so quickly. The meat had probably already been fried three times. It was old, dry and tough. Inedible. Offering something like that is actually an impertinence. The service took ages to arrive, so I tried it and it was confirmed that it was inedible. After we finally reached the service, they were very accommodating and I didn't have to pay for the food because it was then returned. Unfortunately very disappointing.

Really good sushi shop. The platters are super tasty and decent portions. The waiters are friendly, quick and in a good mood. If you're looking for good sushi for a normal budget, this is the place for you.

I have been a customer of this restaurant for many years. Personally, I find the sushi here to be the best quality and the best presentation compared to the other 2 Sushi Lo Restaurants. However, the hot food and the service attitude was a disaster, especially the female staff at the counter. They asked us to withdraw cash to pay while the sign said payment by card 20 euros. I really don’t like withdrawing cash when it’s raining heavily. I can understand the recent negative comments. So 5 stars for the food, 2 stars for the service!

**ATTENTION RIP-OFF**, this store! The sushi was okay, I've eaten better, but I couldn't complain about the prices... BUT BE CAREFUL when paying. For several years now, restaurateurs have been required to use a cash register to avoid tax evasion - so be sure to insist on your receipt. First of all, the lady at the checkout used her calculator to calculate a total of €48, which was incorrect on both sides. After I asked for a receipt, a completely different amount came out (see photo). Sorry, but this is the last time the store will see me. The atmosphere was nice, but the staff was completely overwhelmed. The food was served carelessly, and while you were still eating and taking a short break, they wanted to clear away the plates and sushi. The teapot is a rip-off - it's served cold and only half full!

Delicious sushi and a great selection, but unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for our food. It was very well attended and take away customers also came. This really takes patience. That's why you should order an appetizer. Unfortunately, the service was a bit thin, so you really had to be late to at least have drinks. But we would always come back.

Miso soup, gyoza, udon seitan tofu mix were really good, Scallop Tower was like out of this world, sooooo good 😋😋😋, the coconut flavor in the curry chai was a bit too strong and the crème brulee was also better. We really liked the service and the homemade drinks, some of the chairs were a bit worn and only 2 out of 4 of the desserts were available. So 4 out of 5 stars, but still a strong recommendation!

Peanut dishes are amazing, very good food and the taste can't be beat. The sushi was exceptionally good and the crunchy rolls were really crispy. Everything was fresh and crunchy and the homemade iced teas are also recommended.

Very good, but the waiter is listless

We have been to this restaurant 4 times now. Every time we visited we noticed the very listless staff. Nobody wants to do their job and the customer feels that, no greeting, no thank you or let alone a smile. The first three times everything was great with the food. Yesterday it started again with the listless waiter. My friend wanted a certain sushi roll but without avocado she said it wouldn't work. OK, so no fresh sushi? She ordered another roll with salmon, it was clear that it was no longer fresh and in contrast to the visit a few months ago it was also quite dark, more like tuna. Everything else was great for me, except for the unusual, very wobbly meat in my soup. Today we are both sitting in bed with stomach cramps and nausea.

The food was very tasty and lovingly prepared! Technically top value for money! The restaurant furnishings could be changed to make it look more comfortable and modern. Otherwise we are very satisfied. :)

Homemade drinks are delicious, but warm beer and food are an absolute no-go. Rice dishes with duck and beef rump are not recommended. Sushi tasted ok, but very small, “economical” portions. Definitely no longer a favorite sushi location like it used to be. A pity.

So I have been (or have been) a customer for about 4-5 years. Today was my last visit! Compared to back then, the prices have remained the same, which is positive. However, the size of the rolls has halved. Furthermore, the taste was a disaster. Especially rice with duck. Should have been a peanut coconut sauce, it was more like milk. Too bad. I definitely won't be coming back.

Unfortunately very dry maki sushi & generally very small sushi rolls. Also inflexible & bored staff. Too bad, not a great experience. :(

We ordered different sushi rolls and my favorite was the Tàm An Roll. However, the mochi ice cream disappointed us as it only consisted of three scoops of vanilla ice cream and a small cut mochi. But overall a good experience.

I went to this sushi shop today and was unfortunately very disappointed. The store is incredibly dirty, the toilet in particular was absolutely disgusting. The aquarium and the armchairs were also in terrible condition - the armchairs are so old and worn that they have holes in them and are not comfortable at all. The staff was extremely loud and rude, and also very inattentive. The food didn't taste good at all and looked like it had been prepared carelessly. My tip: go somewhere else. I definitely won't be coming back.

The place is really nice! We were there cause we were visiting the botanic garden and it’s not far by public transportation. The sushi is extremely good and the waiters were also very nice. They speak English quite good, which for us was necessary cause we’re not German speakers and you can also pay by card. The prices are also reasonable to be sushi and by far cheaper than in many other places.

I used to really like Sushi Lo, but the quality has deteriorated extremely. Ordered yesterday with a friend and initially I let the Pils go back because it was stale. Then the food came and Bento 11 was missing the butterfish. When I asked where it was, the waitress replied that it wasn't there anymore, it hadn't been there for a year, which means the menu urgently needs to be updated; it's included in several menus, for example. Overall, the service was overwhelmed, the tables and cards were sticky and the sushi was ok... Lots of fried food with sauce, but if you go for sushi for the fish, this is the wrong place.

Unfortunately our visit to this sushi shop was a disaster. The meal took over 30 minutes and in the end we only got four small rolls that tasted old. The whole place smelled burning and actually that was our food. The flambéed items were all burned. I definitely didn't feel good after eating. The service was also horrible. Absolutely not recommended!

The food is solid. But what I find really annoying is that they don't want to accept card payments at lunchtime. We had a bill > 30 EUR and were supposed to pay it in cash, even though there was a card machine there. They argue this with card fees, but we would have covered even those. Sorry, that's completely out of date and leaves a bad aftertaste. Why does a restaurant want everything in cash....?

My favorite sushi restaurant. Here every role tastes individual. You get the impression that the ingredients are perfectly balanced so that each piece is a taste explosion in your mouth. The food comes relatively quickly. The drinks are good too. Overall, very creative sushi compositions and I look forward to being here every time. Ambiance relaxed.

Friendly and nice service, the food tastes good

The store is great, I've been here many times. The employees are always very friendly and polite. The sushi is very tasty and fresh, great value for money. Loading is also cozy. I always enjoy coming back and recommend it to everyone, be it eating in the restaurant or ordering take-away, both are great.

Terrible, poor service, poor price/performance

Great food, fresh sushi for a fair price. Exhausting: Every time there is a discussion that we should only pay in cash. In 2024 you are behind the times here and as a customer I feel like I'm being ripped off when there's a sign on the door every week that says "the card machine is broken today" - when I go in, a guest pays with a card in front of me and the next guest pays it denied? Has an aftertaste. Still always delicious.

Very tasty and varied sushi, but there is also a lot for someone who doesn't like sushi. Just take a look at the menu online. Very nice staff and you can sit outside when the weather is good. Personally, I don't like it that much inside because it's a bit dark there, but you can't call it uncomfortable. A matter of taste!

Sushi Lo in Hamburg exceeded my expectations. I was impressed by the fresh ingredients. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was inviting. I look forward to coming back soon and trying more dishes. An absolute recommendation for all sushi lovers in Hamburg!

Solid sushi restaurant. The staff is friendly but not particularly accommodating. We ordered a table for three and, despite many free tables that had not been reserved, we were seated at a table for two with an extra chair. A second table was only brought in upon request. The aquariums don't seem particularly well maintained. The sauce was forgotten with the Spicy Edamame. Everything didn't seem particularly coordinated. Everything tasted good and the quality was good too.

It was my first time there and I was disappointed, the conditions were totally lackluster even when ordering, my companion wanted Sprite and got Coke, at least mine was right, we had to wait over 30 minutes for the food, which is unacceptable, it also became careless because the table was set. Sushi lo was once my favorite shop. The last few times the kimchi didn't taste good anymore and was completely different. Much oilier, less red spice and just doesn't taste good anymore. Kimchi was very tasty here. Unfortunately not for months. The sushi is also not that fresh anymore and is really small. Unfortunately I won't be coming again for the time being.

Had expected more, as the branch at the Schanze was quite good. However, we wouldn't go here again.

The sushi tastes very good and the selection is great too. Unfortunately, the portions are getting smaller and smaller, despite price adjustments. The salmon pizza was always so great, now unfortunately only 15 grams of salmon for €8.50. Maybe the portions will change again in the future

Gewoon lekker! Wel lang wachten, bijna een uur!

Wir haben uns mehr vorgestellt, wenn man die Bewertungen liest. Das soll aber nichts schlechtes heißen, aber wir haben viele Sushi 🍣 Restaurants schon ausprobiert und besser empfunden.

Überfüllt. Auf den reservierten Tisch 20 Minuten gewartet. Überfordertes personal. Das Sushi allerdings sehr lecker.

Das Essen ist sehr lecker und qualitativ gut. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Sushis, die vegetarischen sind sehr lecker gewesen, auch die anderen Gerichte sind lecker. Wir kommen wieder!

Sehr leckere Ramen komme gerne wieder

Tienen variedad de platos y unos mejores que otros. Las gyozas no son muy buenas, pero el sushi es muy bueno. Es para mi gusto un poco caro, así que la comida debería ser inigualable. Ambiente normal, bien pero nada del otro mundo al igual que el servicio.

Bin da öfter zum Mittagessen und nehme mir immer vegetarische Tofu. Ich finde es echt lecker. Und es lohnt sich, da man sich auch satt fühlt. Zum Mittag ist es etwas überfüllt. Von daher dauert es etwa 20 Min, bis man seine Bestellung kriegt. Aber es lohn sich auf jeden Fall.

Essen vorzüglich Personal ist evtl unterbesetzt... Ambiente ist schön...manchmal allerdings recht laut

Waren hier auf einem Feiertag, in der Mittagszeit zu Besuch. Die Location ist eher dunkel gehalten. Viel Platz gibt es nicht. Wenn es voll ist, sitzt man dicht an dicht. Draußen gibt es eine kleine Veranda. Freie Platzwahl ist stark eingegrenzt. Wir haben einen Tisch zugewiesen bekommen, und durften keinen anderen wählen. Vielleicht alle reserviert? Teilte man uns nicht mit. Die Karte übersichtlich und üppig. Das Essen war super. 👍🏻 Sehr lecker. Haben gebackene Lachs Sushi bestellt, Hühnchen in Erdnussauce und ein Nudelgericht. Das Essen kam zügig und die Bedienung war nett. Das WC habe ich nicht aufgesucht. Bewerte ich sonst immer gerne mit. Wir saßen direkt am Aquarium. Das war etwas trostlos und das Essen wirkte durch das kalte Licht nicht appetitlich, allerdings kann ich hier nochmal betonen, dass es wirklich sehr lecker war. Parken kann hier sicher schwierig werden, wenn man mit dem Auto anreist. Wir hatten aber Glück. Klare Empfehlung wegen dem leckerem Essen. Beim Platz versucht man sicherlich das beste aus der Situation zu machen. Licht und Ambiente ist Geschmackssache, meins war es nicht.

Sushi Lô am Rothenbaum ist echt entspannt. Im Vergleich zu Go By Steffen Henssler ist es hier nicht so schick, aber das macht nichts. Die Preise sind viel angenehmer und das Sushi schmeckt gut. Die Atmosphäre ist locker und gemütlich. Es ist nicht so gehoben wie bei Go, aber das finde ich gut. Man kann hier einfach gut Sushi essen, ohne viel Geld auszugeben. Das Essen könnte vielleicht ein bisschen besser sein, aber für den Preis ist es wirklich okay. Ich finde, Sushi Lô ist ein super Ort, um ohne Stress leckeres Sushi zu genießen.

Leider zur Mittagszeit häufig sehr voll. Was allerdings für das gute Essen spricht. Es gibt verschiedene Sushi-Menüs aber auch warme asiatische Gerichte, die ebenfalls nur zu empfehlen sind. Gemüse wird immer frisches verwendet. Allein deshalb schon super lecker.

Tolles Sushi, sehr authentisch und schnell bei der Bestellung. Wir können alles auf der Karte empfehlen.

The wantan soup was not to my expectation, ingredients wise, but it was surprisingly delicious. The various sushis were all heavenly. I would have ordered more if my tummy had room enough. Thanks for a lovely meal.
