Gilles. France. 3 people. 9/11. A restaurant, a decor, and typically German cuisine. The food is simple, good, and hearty. And I'd never heard of smoked beer...not bad at all. A lovely and enjoyable experience, go for it!

A very quaint little Franconian restaurant. The food was very good. The service was friendly. But… the owner conducts all his office work at the next table, talking loudly on his cell phone. The office is in the small, quaint pub. You can hear every conversation, which is very disruptive to a pleasant meal. It's unacceptable. Guests are asked not to use their phones. Something is wrong here, and it ruins the atmosphere and style.

Visited in the Fall on a work trip but planning to take the family when we visit during the Winter to see the Christmas Market.

Quaint, would love to come back

We enjoyed a delicious meal with the family. Many special requests were fulfilled. (The youngest child had potatoes with gravy, and dessert was brought immediately for another child.) We were very satisfied.

The worst place ever, a disgrace for Nuremberg. We do not recommend it. The smell of sweat from the owner was unbearable, and his poor service was even worse.

A beautiful, quaint, and very cozy restaurant with home-style dishes. Everything was delicious. This was our third time here, even though we live far away, but it's definitely worth the trip. Reservations are recommended, as the junk shop is very busy and doesn't have a lot of seating. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back.

Based on the excellent reviews and promises, we were excited... We were there in the afternoon, and it was moderately busy. Most of the tables were occupied, but the open ones were only available for a limited time due to reservations. No problem, you can usually manage quite relaxed. The dining room isn't very large, comfortably furnished, and quaint. Unfortunately, after we were seated, no one else came. The other two tables also switched to self-service, drawing attention to themselves and, in turn, to us. After a good half hour, food and drinks could be ordered. After another half hour, the main course arrived; the appetizer was forgotten – and we didn't want it anymore. We also canceled dessert. I don't want to be "fed away" at a gallop after an eternity, a whole hour! of being forgotten and waiting. For comparison, two guests were also sitting in the front section who arrived after us and received their food before we ordered! The food itself is Nuremberg standard, no better or worse than anywhere else in the city. There's also a modest selection of beer, though unfortunately, there's no red beer on the menu.

Very friendly staff. Even though we didn't have a reservation, they asked us if it would be okay to share a table with others. The restaurant is very quaint and small, but incredibly cozy. The food was also delicious!

The food was good and offered interesting flavors. However, we found it wasn't prepared in a traditional way. Despite the good quality of the food, we found the value for money to be rather high. The prices seemed a bit high compared to the portions and the preparation. One of the restaurant's plus points is its rustic decor. The charm of the ambiance definitely makes a visit worthwhile. The cozy atmosphere invites you to sit back and enjoy your meal. Overall, we can say that, despite the above points, it was an interesting experience that is definitely worth a visit.

Super cheese spaetzle and even vegan

This would have been our second time there this year. Last time it was great. This time we had a reservation for 5:30 p.m., but our appointment was listed for 2:30 p.m., and although they asked for a phone number, they didn't call. We still got a table. The Schäudele (pork sausage) was very good, as were the appetizers. Unfortunately, my Sauerbraten wasn't. The two small slices were OK, but the larger slice was absolutely tough. Apparently, they know this, because when I told the waitress, she reacted very calmly. No apology or offer of a replacement. My girlfriend's dessert: a steamed dumpling, completely collapsed. Apparently, it had been sitting out for a while. That kind of thing shouldn't be served. After complaining, a new one came out, which was fine. But why serve something like that beforehand? When a friend then jokingly asked for a schnapps on the house, the response was simply a smile. Complaints management should still be practiced. What a shame. And then you have to take care of the cobwebs on the ceiling and the decorations...quaint, basically good food, just not today, unfortunately.

From the telephone reservation to settling the bill, everything was quick and seamless. The staff is very friendly, personable, and helpful. Guests' requests are always taken into account. The food was served promptly and tasted excellent. The ambiance is rustic and cozy. It's worth mentioning that the menu is available online. This also caters to various languages. Based on the many positive reviews, we reserved a table before our trip to Nuremberg, and everything went perfectly. The restaurant is very comfortably furnished, just like a real living room, with tiled stoves and cozy seating areas. We had a fairly small table for three, which was a bit tight, but manageable. The food was perfect and delicious. The staff was attentive and super friendly; we would definitely go back.

The two of us visited Nuremberg as tourists. The Trödelstuben (a junk shop) had been recommended to us. When we arrived to reserve a table, we were fobbed off right at the door. The exact words were: "No room for you." And without us being able to respond, the door was slammed in our faces. So, one star is too many. A minus five would be more appropriate.

Very solid little restaurant, the wine was great, the food was good, very traditional and with a homemade feel, service was extremely friendly and welcoming, albeit slightly on the slow side. The atmosphere is where this place truly shines, this place is old in the best possible wat, it's absolutely stunning and unlike anything I've ever encountered, it doesn't feel like a tourist trap at all and it's a place you must visit just to see it for yourself.

A lovely restaurant. The bell at the entrance is a bit odd, but understandable given the size of the interior. The waiter, Michael, and his "ironic" sense of humor took some getting used to, but it seems to be his style. The food was impressive, as was the atmosphere.

During our visit to Nuremberg, we had a delicious dinner at Trödelstuben. The restaurant has a warm, cozy atmosphere with a typical Franconian feel: wooden tables, a homely decor, and friendly service that immediately made us feel welcome. The menu offers a nice mix of traditional German dishes and seasonal specialties. The portions are generous and the flavors authentic – just as you'd hope for in this region. We sampled, among other things, the Schäufele (a regional classic) and a schnitzel that was perfectly crispy. A well-drafted local beer complemented the evening, completing the experience. The service was friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. Everything was served at a leisurely pace, allowing us to truly enjoy the food and the atmosphere. In short: Trödelstuben is an absolute must-visit if you're in Nuremberg and want to experience local cuisine in a homely setting. We'll definitely be back!

I'm a native of Nuremberg (43 years old) and love this corner of the flea market. The "door" there, however, is abysmally bad, and I've never experienced anything like it. You ring the bell at the entrance, then, like in a bad movie, a waiter pops out the door. You ask for a seat (in this case, two people at 8:00 PM). The waiter disappears and pops back out 10 seconds later ("No, not today"). Like being at a disco when I was 17. Never again...

Beautiful place, small and welcoming. We enjoyed an excellent beer and a good meal. A well-deserved 5 stars. The staff were also courteous in explaining the dishes. I recommend booking.

I had a fantastic experience here my first night in Nuremberg with my friends. Despite my very broken German and my friends not knowing any German, it was still really easy to get seated and order what we liked. The staff were very friendly and personable, the food was fantastic, and the atmosphere really brought this to the next level. If you're in Nuremberg and you want an authentic German meal in a cute environment, here's an excellent choice.

It was a fantastic Sunday afternoon with you today, September 14, 2025. A completely friendly team (despite the house filling up, and later relatively full) in what was probably the most quaint restaurant I've ever been to made it a fantastic experience. You get a wonderful medieval feel of an inn and sensationally delicious food at extremely fair prices! Thank you for that! If I were from Nuremberg... I'd probably be a regular. My pork loin was a dream, the dark beer from Scheyern was wonderful, and the dumpling was a hit. My companion also enjoyed the soup and salad. The whole thing calls for a quick repeat with more empty mugs after a feast. Thank you for the culinary delight, keep up the good work!

We're from Austria and ate here today. Since we're often in Nuremberg, we'd love to come back; everything was excellent!

I can highly recommend the junk shops, especially if you're visiting with out-of-town guests. You get a good sense of Franconian hospitality. Just try it for yourself.

Quaint dining room in Nuremberg's old town. For €29, you could get potato soup (very good), three kinds of "Barbossa" bratwurst (also good for tasting), and a hot apple strudel with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. For a tall man like me (>1.9m), the tables were too narrow, so I had to do quite a bit of a split to sit with my legs wide apart, which spoiled the experience. The waitresses were prompt and friendly.

I ended up there by chance today, and despite it being quite hectic, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The drinks and food were impeccable and arrived very quickly. I'll definitely come back here next time I'm in Nuremberg.

Apart from the unfriendly service that was sent to us (the young, tall, muscular blond guy) who told me he only had two arms when there was a mistake in the order, thinking we didn't understand German and then pretended to ignore us and left us waiting without clearing away... the rest was ok. Typical meal, but the starters were served at the same time as the main course. Disappointed with the welcome and the service. The setting is original and nice, despite our reservation we were seated outside. Sometimes there are days when it would be better to stay at home 🙄😄.

We were there last night. It was a great restaurant with great waiters. All three waiters were attentive and friendly. The food was very tasty, a little low in salt, but you can add it yourself. :-)

A very quaint restaurant at the flea market. The Barbarossa plate offers a nice overview of the various Nuremberg bratwurst varieties. The service is friendly and fast; we'd be happy to return.

One of our favorite things about Bavaria is the roasted pork with crackling(crispy skin). We usually order schweinshaxe or krustenbraten but on our stop here we tried the schäufele. Its a chunk or pork shoulder roasted with the skin on. It was AMAZING. Its very rare to get the meat very tender, and the skin crispy while still light and easy to chew. Usually its one of the other at best. This was exceptionally good. The crackling often becomes a bit tough or hard to cut into but this was so light, almost flaky. Ridiculously good. We had it near the start of our trip and we're still talking about it 12 meals later in Munich. We also shared a plate of obatzda cheese spread and I had a cup of fränkische Kartoffelsuppe. A potato soup with pieces of Nuremberger sausage in it. A soup like your Bavarian grandmother would make for sure. As far as the restaurant goes, I would say that the interior is a bit small but the outside is fine with a decent view if weather is good. Far more outdoor seating I think. The interior is actually very cute inside with a ton of rustic decor.

We went because of the good reviews they had received, but the waiter was rude and grumpy, 2 menus for 4 people, flat draft beer, the food came quickly, but the entire plate was smeared with sauce, something also came on the table when the food was served, disappointing meal and beer.

The location and ambiance are absolutely beautiful. The food was excellent. We got a nice table for three relatively quickly, even though we didn't have a reservation. The service staff were very friendly and prompt.

Stopped in at Trödelstuben on a recommendation, and I’m glad I did. The place has a wonderful historic feel, friendly staff, and a great location right in the heart of Nuremberg’s old town. I made the mistake of ordering coffee—too weak for my taste after spending time in Italy—but that’s on me. This is clearly a beer place, and the beer goes with everything here. The apple strudel was marvelous—can’t say I’ve tried every strudel in Nuremberg, but this one made me very happy. Worth the visit if you’re in town.

Call early and make a reservation!! They do have indoor seating, but it's very close quarters and HOT!! I don't think there is AC. You can sit outside, but I loathe cigarette smoke and it's *everywhere.* I ordered the turkey steak, roast vegetables, and baked potato. The potato was wrapped in foil so it was more of a steam potato. It was topped with creme fraiche, dill, and chives and good lord it was delicious. I'm not sure if I can eat another potato if not prepared tgis way!! The turkey wasn't cut properly so it was a tad chewy; but, it was still tasty. Very nice serving, I couldn't eat it all. My husband ate pork over spaetzel with creamy mushroom sauce. It was absolutely delicious!! Everything really came together with a lovely umami taste from the mushroom. The side salad had coleslaw with caraway seeds, wgich is my favorite addition to pep up boring coleslaw dressing. The dark beer he ordered was perfect with his meal. I would absolutely go back!

Update 2025: Generally OK. Unfortunately, there's no more meat on the granite countertop. It was a shame, but it was a nice idea. Update 2023: Post blocked, another attempt. Update 2022: Only 3 points: Still perfect, except they brought a rump steak and not a fillet steak, and charged for a fillet steak. Even after pointing it out with a photo, the chef didn't correct it. Unfortunately, mistakes are human, but stubbornness shouldn't be so pronounced in a restaurant. 2021, August: The beef roulade was unfortunately out, but we ate the Argentinian filet, served on hot granite. Very tasty! Highly recommended.

Nice restaurant, but the service is unfortunately quite unfriendly. You don't feel welcome (at least as a guest on the terrace). Drinks are served relatively warm – and there are no ice cubes at 32 degrees, which makes the Coke even warmer. 🥴A shame.

We discovered the Trödelstuben for the first time. The food was very good – homemade, fresh, and prepared with lots of love. The Schäufele (pork shoulder) in particular was super tender and perfectly seasoned, but the vegetarian option at the table was also very popular. The atmosphere is quaint, cozy, and you immediately notice that the restaurant is run with heart. The service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm – you don't experience that everywhere. I will definitely be back. Absolutely recommended for anyone who wants to eat good, authentic food in Nuremberg!
