I really can't fault this restaurant. Location: Great. Food: authentic, good portion and really tasty. Service: nice and courteous, food and drinks were always there quickly. Decoration and ambience are awesome, it's narrow and medieval, very beautiful. I was here for the first time in 2019, and now again in 2025. It was great then, it didn't disappoint me this time. Awesome. Always happy again!

We ate here twice today because it tasted so good. At lunchtime we discovered the restaurant by chance and sat down for a small meal. Since we liked the ambience, the staff were very friendly and the food was really perfect, we ordered straight away for the evening. Even though there was more going on in the evening, the food was again very tasty and you didn't have to wait long. We are really so happy with the restaurant. We would definitely come back if we were in Nuremberg again and would like to thank you very much for the service and the delicious food.

Great ambience, prompt service, really quaint economy - if you can still say that! 😜 The Scheufele is great, unfortunately there is a star deduction for the deer goulash, the spaetzle wasn't quite successful. I'll be back! 👍

Recommended by our travel agent, it is a German food restaurant with an old house decoration and full of German scenes and many knick-knacks. The food and service were very good, highlighting the potato soup and sausages. Important to reserve in advance.

Very rustic restaurant with Bavarian specialties. The food was very tasty and the waitresses were very nice. The restaurant is very comfortably furnished but sometimes quite cramped.

We saw on Maps that it had very good comments and that it was a place to eat typical food, so around 11 in the morning while we were walking around the city we stopped by to make a reservation at 2:00 p.m. and without a problem. We ordered a plate of knuckle, another of sirloin and a plate with different typical sausages to try them all. Everything to share between two. We also tried a smoked beer that we really liked. In total, three dishes and two beers for 68 euros. We were going to order the apple strudel, but we were already bursting at the seams, so we had to abort the mission, much to our regret. In fact, two plates are enough.

Super great ambience, but unfortunately service isn't made for the job. The food wasn't great but it wasn't inedible. For the prices I really would have expected a little more “wow”.

The only real attraction at this restaurant. The food is tasty but not outstanding in taste. It doesn't have to be! It matches the great interior and feel of the restaurant. Therefore “only” 3 stars for the food. The only thing that didn't quite suit us was the service. The service at the table was good, but the reception was extremely unfriendly. In a restaurant like this with an above-average rating, you would expect a warmer reception. You have the feeling of being “waved through” as a guest of the house. It's a shame, that's why only three stars. Still recommended because of the interior and ambience.

I’m glad it’s open on Christmas Day. I tried goose meat, which is a must-eat on Christmas Day in Germany. Oh my God! How can the goose breast be so tender and delicious!! The raspberry jam and ice cream for dessert is also so delicious. ! Not too sweet, not too sour, and warm, so happy! I am very happy to eat it on Christmas Day, everything becomes happy😋😋

Stopping at the junk shops is an experience across the board. Food, beer, ambience...everything fantastic.

Even though we hadn't reserved a table, they could have responded with friendliness. Instead, I was asked directly and in an arrogant tone if I could read. In fact, there was a sign outside the restaurant that said, “We have no vacancies.” I just wanted to ask if something might become available later. When I pointed out that one could answer differently, I was told that one had a lot of work to do. But apparently they had enough time to respond to my “1-star” review. It's a shame, a friendlier approach would have changed a lot.

Food was great, 5 stars, the only negative point was that the hot chocolate was only lukewarm. I'd love to come back.

Very narrow, rustic restaurant. Friendly service. It goes over several floors with steep stairs that can become a real challenge as your blood alcohol level increases. Not barrier-free. Not suitable for larger groups of 20 or more people. Toilets in the basement can also be reached via steep stairs. Reservation makes sense.

Reserved for 8 adults, 8 adults and a child came! No place to eat. We should throw our side dish into the sauce. I then sat down at another table, exasperated. This was nicely noted by the service. No solution was offered. This restaurant is a tourist trap. Pity for my money. Never this store again!

A very welcoming place, it has a menu with various types of dishes, where grilled meat is the main dish; I really liked the apple strudel served with vanilla ice cream, good variety of beers. Fast service and friendly staff, as well as an excellent location in the center.

This restaurant is a must. See also the Trapadvisor reviews. It is advisable to reserve a table in advance by telephone. This is not a problem for tourists because the restaurant team speaks English. My wife eats vegetarian and has found enough choice. As a meat eater, I got my money's worth anyway. There are also various local and delicious beers. Thanks to the team who were able to reserve a table for us by phone within a short time. The atmosphere is nice and rustic. We would definitely come again.

We were there on July 24 with 10 people and everything was fine. (5 stars) ...... Yesterday I called at 11 a.m. and wanted to make a reservation again for 10 people. A very customer-oriented gentleman just said: “not today” and hung up. We then made a reservation at the Hexenhäusl and spent €450 there. The junk shop no longer needs to welcome guests. With so much friendliness they won't see us anymore. ....... Update after answer: The antisocial behavior confirms that the customer (guest) is worthless. Now this arrogant guy's business is still going well. But a nice restaurant isn't everything. I prefer to go where the guest is welcomed. If you are looking for a place where guests are welcome and don't want to be offended by a negative review, don't go here!!!

We were here for a quick meal on Friday afternoon. We ordered 2 Schäufele, once solo and once as part of the menu with Nuremberg Rossbratwurst as a starter and ice cream with hot raspberries as a dessert. The food and the 2 drinks (Radler and Spezi) were quickly at the table and tasted good. The service was also very friendly and the atmosphere is rustic and cozy. In the end we paid €60.40, which is absolutely ok. You can definitely do it!

A really great restaurant with extremely friendly service. Although the next guests were already waiting outside the door, we didn't have the feeling to be “kicked out”. Gladly again every time. Thank you for the nice and delicious evening.

I highly recommend coming here if you like bottled beer, as there is no draft beer here. If you like tasteless food that is expensive. If you like it when, in the middle of dessert, they tell you that time is up and ask you to vacate the table, and then, without permission, add a tip to your bill and demand you pay for it.

Everything has its price, everything is good

Quaint restaurant in the middle of Nuremberg's old town. The furnishings of the house allow you to travel in time. Service and food are good. You can get good Franconian cuisine and good Franconian beer here. Even the Schlenkerla Rauchbier from Bamberg is available here. I definitely recommend making a reservation here, otherwise you won't be able to get a spot spontaneously.

Very rude front of house. We are not German and were refused service at 4:30pm because no reservation, yet a group of Germans were let in immediately after us and were told they could stay until dinner at a shared table (we heard them say they had no reservation)

We are on vacation in Nuremberg and we have tried to make reservations at the restaurant three times. When the man realizes that we are Spanish, he hangs up on us without giving us the opportunity to know if there is a table available another day. We also went in person and stood at the entrance and he saw us and did not attend to us. A shame because we really wanted to eat at this place.

This place was perfect. We ducked inside to get out of the rain and it was like stepping back in time. It is cozy and the food was delicious.

An establishment with all the German tradition, where you can taste the city's typical food. The staff was very attentive and pleasant and the food was delicious. If you want to feel the whole essence of Nuremberg, you must visit it.

One of my favorite restaurants when I come to Nuremberg! I can recommend especially the traditional Franconian "Schäufela" = pork roast with crust and bone from the shoulder.

Everything is just right here. For me it is a must for every tourist in Nuremberg. Absolutely recommended and above all worth seeing. Super great ambience, typical Franconian and super tasty dishes. Friendly and attentive staff. The building and the furnishings are simply amazing, it's nice that such places have been preserved in this modern world. In the evening you can only get to one of a few places with a reservation.

Unfortunately no recommendation. The sauerbraten was very bad. The meat is tough, the dumpling is hard and the red cabbage is lukewarm to cold. The service was friendly.

A super cozy, rustic restaurant with history and the cult dish “Schäufele”. We were immediately fascinated by the elaborate furnishings and found a great spot in a booth (better reserve in the evening). The older male waitress seemed a bit annoyed and unfriendly, but then thawed out a bit over the course of her existence. The younger male waitress was super nice :) The food came incredibly quickly, which made us a little suspicious at first, but really impressed us with its delicious taste. We were really happy there, and the beer (black beer from Bamberg and Kellerbier) also tasted good. The oven made it pleasantly warm. A really great insider tip if you want to eat traditionally good food in Nuremberg.

Beautiful old building. Very cozy inside. I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. Our meal was excellent. It was served piping hot. Everyone loved what they ordered! Be sure and try the Pumpkin soup!

Food was excellent!! Ate Schäufele and beef roulade. Unfortunately, we found the gentleman who served us to be unfriendly, even rude. Didn't really pay us a glance, very impersonal. He would answer questions as soon as he left, so that no one could understand the answer. Maybe he was just having a bad day... who knows. We sat outside as it was a sunny fall day, blankets would have been great. We found drinks to be a bit too expensive...

A German restaurant straight out of a picture book, wonderful Franconian ambience, super friendly and competent service and food with absolutely nothing to criticize. That's exactly how German cuisine works and should be. The rustic ambience and the location of the rooms in the heart of Nuremberg are the cherry on the cake. By the way, the prices are also completely reasonable. In my opinion, a really wonderful place if you love German food. Absolute recommendation!

I was a guest in the Trödelstube today and for me personally I have to describe this restaurant as a pure tourist trap. The service was very courteous, but the food was borderline inedible. The Nuremberg grilled sausages were not freshly fried, but warmed up and therefore dark. I don't even want to start talking about the over-salted Schäufele and the discount potato salad. 80€ for two adults and one child. We were dissatisfied and left with uneaten plates. Very disappointing!

Really, really great place. Good Franconian. Very cozy. The price of the food is absolutely fine for being in the middle of the city, but the beer price is impressive at 5.30 euros. If you don't mind the narrow space, you should eat there.
