Quaint restaurant in the middle of Nuremberg's old town. The furnishings of the house allow you to travel in time. Service and food are good. You can get good Franconian cuisine and good Franconian beer here. Even the Schlenkerla Rauchbier from Bamberg is available here. I definitely recommend making a reservation here, otherwise you won't be able to get a spot spontaneously.

Very rude front of house. We are not German and were refused service at 4:30pm because no reservation, yet a group of Germans were let in immediately after us and were told they could stay until dinner at a shared table (we heard them say they had no reservation)

We are on vacation in Nuremberg and we have tried to make reservations at the restaurant three times. When the man realizes that we are Spanish, he hangs up on us without giving us the opportunity to know if there is a table available another day. We also went in person and stood at the entrance and he saw us and did not attend to us. A shame because we really wanted to eat at this place.

This place was perfect. We ducked inside to get out of the rain and it was like stepping back in time. It is cozy and the food was delicious.

An establishment with all the German tradition, where you can taste the city's typical food. The staff was very attentive and pleasant and the food was delicious. If you want to feel the whole essence of Nuremberg, you must visit it.

One of my favorite restaurants when I come to Nuremberg! I can recommend especially the traditional Franconian "Schäufela" = pork roast with crust and bone from the shoulder.

Everything is just right here. For me it is a must for every tourist in Nuremberg. Absolutely recommended and above all worth seeing. Super great ambience, typical Franconian and super tasty dishes. Friendly and attentive staff. The building and the furnishings are simply amazing, it's nice that such places have been preserved in this modern world. In the evening you can only get to one of a few places with a reservation.

Excellent place, food and service, I loved its design and atmosphere.

Unfortunately no recommendation. The sauerbraten was very bad. The meat is tough, the dumpling is hard and the red cabbage is lukewarm to cold. The service was friendly.

A super cozy, rustic restaurant with history and the cult dish “Schäufele”. We were immediately fascinated by the elaborate furnishings and found a great spot in a booth (better reserve in the evening). The older male waitress seemed a bit annoyed and unfriendly, but then thawed out a bit over the course of her existence. The younger male waitress was super nice :) The food came incredibly quickly, which made us a little suspicious at first, but really impressed us with its delicious taste. We were really happy there, and the beer (black beer from Bamberg and Kellerbier) also tasted good. The oven made it pleasantly warm. A really great insider tip if you want to eat traditionally good food in Nuremberg.

Beautiful old building. Very cozy inside. I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. Our meal was excellent. It was served piping hot. Everyone loved what they ordered! Be sure and try the Pumpkin soup!

We had a great evening in the Trödelstuben, the name says it all. Very quaint and special, but really beautifully implemented. Delicious beer, good service and very tasty food.

Food was excellent!! Ate Schäufele and beef roulade. Unfortunately, we found the gentleman who served us to be unfriendly, even rude. Didn't really pay us a glance, very impersonal. He would answer questions as soon as he left, so that no one could understand the answer. Maybe he was just having a bad day... who knows. We sat outside as it was a sunny fall day, blankets would have been great. We found drinks to be a bit too expensive...

A German restaurant straight out of a picture book, wonderful Franconian ambience, super friendly and competent service and food with absolutely nothing to criticize. That's exactly how German cuisine works and should be. The rustic ambience and the location of the rooms in the heart of Nuremberg are the cherry on the cake. By the way, the prices are also completely reasonable. In my opinion, a really wonderful place if you love German food. Absolute recommendation!

When you book a table for a big party check if you have enough space and potentially could be extremely hot on the top floor. Good non alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, beer and even vegetarian sausages. Authentic atmosphere and nice interior

I was a guest in the Trödelstube today and for me personally I have to describe this restaurant as a pure tourist trap. The service was very courteous, but the food was borderline inedible. The Nuremberg grilled sausages were not freshly fried, but warmed up and therefore dark. I don't even want to start talking about the over-salted Schäufele and the discount potato salad. 80€ for two adults and one child. We were dissatisfied and left with uneaten plates. Very disappointing!

Really, really great place. Good Franconian. Very cozy. The price of the food is absolutely fine for being in the middle of the city, but the beer price is impressive at 5.30 euros. If you don't mind the narrow space, you should eat there.

Guests who want to eat should not be brought to mini table 11. Sitting very tight and with space for plates... You can't really enjoy the food. For dessert, hot raspberries with vanilla ice cream were really run of the mill. Whole raspberries and not pureed. We made reservations for 4 people and there were four of us

I think it's a good idea to describe this restaurant in one word, but it's not meant to be derogatory at all. The inside is small and charmingly furnished with lots of decorations without appearing overloaded. Here you can let your eyes wander and always discover something new. Although there isn't much time to look around, because the food comes to the table quickly and hot. I can definitely recommend the Schäufelche, super crispy crust and the meat falls juicy from the bones. We always stop here on our business trips. In summer you can sit outside with the best view of the old town. The staff is always friendly and delivers a great service, which rounds off the visit perfectly

If you are ever in Nuremberg you should definitely go here. It's a beautiful, rustic atmosphere, you feel really comfortable. The service is quick and very friendly. And the food is also very good. Can only be recommended.

Great food and service, in a super traditional place with incredible decor!

Typical restaurant located near the Pegnitz and the characteristic executioner's bridge. Small but very characteristic interior, reminiscent of a late 19th century tavern. The sausages, obviously from Nuremberg, are excellent, both stewed and grilled. The beers are good and the waiters attentive. To return and to recommend, absolutely upon reservation.

I am totally not satisfied and disappointed. Two stars and that's only because the interior inside was very authentic. The food was absolutely unappetizing, only the soup was edible and the beer was good. The portions are small, especially for that price, with a poor quality. The prices are ridiculously stupid. The sausages had a strange taste like a spoiled meat. Potato salad was like a nothing. The service was also bad, especially a waiter Dominico, he was rude to us. At first he didn't want to seat us, although there were plenty of seats. Then he kept rushing us so that we would eat faster. The only thing that we liked, it was interior. It's a pity that such a beautiful and authentic place can't provide good service and delicious food for such a high prices.

Food is okay. Two set meal with a nice soup and sausage platter. Main course of sausages but vinegar sausages are not my cup of tea. Grill pork shoulder is crunchy but a bit overcooked. The giant potato ball is weird which is like a sticky texture which I cant have more than two bites. Staffs are cool.

German through and through, in a positive way. You feel like you are in a maze when you enter, but the ambiance is fantastic. You are amazed. In that beautiful, cozy atmosphere you can enjoy (as I did) a crispy salad with a delicious Keller beer. Recommended!!

2024.09:4*: I had the “Landsknecht” leaf lettuce. The meat was perfect. The salad had a bit of a lack of dressing, which is why I ordered oil. Unfortunately it was absolutely tasteless, otherwise it would have been 5*. But I'll be back, the location is quaint ❤️

From the moment I saw the unassuming exterior of the restaurant, I almost missed it, but stepping inside was a delightful surprise. It felt like I had stepped into a time capsule, taking me back to a bygone era. The antique decor created a warm, historical ambiance that made the entire dining experience feel unique. The service was incredibly warm, making me feel as though I had returned home. As the evening breeze gently blew, I enjoyed a delicious meal paired with refreshing beer—it was the epitome of comfort. I have to say, this restaurant has now earned the top spot in my heart. Finding such a gem in an unfamiliar city added a wonderful memory to my trip, and it set a fantastic tone for my journey in Nuremberg.

Great food, great price-performance ratio

Well, then I would like to be fair and modify my review slightly at the request of the host (presumably the host). But I will not allow myself to be denied the right to freedom of expression! We had lunch there. My wife had the fitness salad and I had the Nuremberg salad (3 different versions) with sauerkraut, potato salad and horseradish, served together with bread. As is well known, taste can be debated and our taste was anything but. It may be that there are people who want to cut a salad themselves after it has been served, but we don't know anyone like that. In our opinion, quartering the tomatoes (normal tomatoes, normal size) is not enough. Likewise the leaf salads...whole, almost plate-sized leaves don't belong in there or on the plate. The argument that you are given cutlery so that you can cut it yourself (you should see what is being served) is not entirely plausible in our opinion. The salad should be “chopped” in the kitchen and not by the guest at the table! The knife is then welcome to collect the last remnants. We have NEVER been served a salad like this in various restaurants before. It didn't convince us in terms of taste either. It would be really interesting to know whether the finished bottle is used or homemade dressing is used. We strongly doubt the latter. I have to say it like that, but it's like that... in our company canteen the dressing is homemade and you can taste it. It tastes way better! In our opinion, this was by far the worst salad we have ever been served. The sausages are ok...if they are bought that way you have little influence. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high for Nuremberg sausages in Nuremberg. I don't want to complain about that. That's how we get them in the north too. The rest is so-so...Just not convincing and I do it better at home. What's the point of picked-up sachets of mustard on your plate? If you choose this variant instead of, for example, extra bowls, then please do so separately and not in the middle of the meal! We go out to eat to be surprised, to be pampered and to enjoy ourselves. That wasn't it at all! Absolute NOGO that the waiter sits outside with the guests smoking and talking loudly on the phone. I'm happy for him to smoke a cigarette, but I'm not interested in what's wrong with the cash register system and I want to be able to talk to my wife. Absolutely UNSUITABLE. It's a shame that this wasn't addressed at all in my first review! We were very disappointed and angry about the money we spent. The day before in Austria and the day later in Leipzig we had an excellent meal for almost the same money... it works!

Great authentic Franconian food at great prices right in the heart of old town Nuremberg.

The interior is beautiful! I had the Fränkischer Sauerbraten. It was good, the meat was maybe a slighty too salty and the Sauerkraut a slightly too sweet but I'm being difficult. The Schlenkerla Rauchbier, is simply the best beer I had in my life. The Fränkischer Sauerbrat seems to be the typical dish in many restaurant of the city. I haven't tried it in other restaurant, but I would recommand going here for the beautiful wooden interior and the smoked beer.

As one guest writes, it is incredibly tasty in many restaurants in wonderful Nuremberg and you can find beautiful rustic establishments in many places in this city. Part of the whole package in a restaurant, or let's put it more accurately, "restaurant", is the friendliness of the staff, starting with the greeting and when, like yesterday, that somewhat stocky, brash and probably annoyed waiter with fortissimo in his oh With such a powerful voice from the entrance bleating past all the guests about our last name, since we had just had the audacity to want to occupy the table that had been reserved in the afternoon and had already been assigned there, then you seriously ask yourself where you actually ended up. Of course, we didn't want to shout our name back in front of all the guests, just for the sake of style, so we handed the menu back in a friendly but negative manner so as not to upset this amazing waiter even further. As already mentioned, a lot of people in Nuremberg can cook and a lot of them can cook very well. In this case, however, manners and hospitality are simply in short supply, and people are happy to plunge into the variety of other good restaurants in the enjoyment of freedom of choice for everyone. We wish you a speedy recovery in your communication with your guests. Reading a little etiquette would be a useful compensation. Unfortunately, the boss's commentary is also simply rude in terms of style.

We were not at all satisfied... The meat was dry and tough, you could hardly chew it! The sauce too thick and tasteless. My husband's also very immune with some water-boiled onions... Maybe it's the first time in my life that I spit food on a napkin... The prices for this particular food were very high... 22.10 euros for nothing! I definitely don't recommend it...

Characteristic restaurant serving local dishes. Good soups and craft beers.

Restaurant located in the center of Nuremberg, in a characteristic spot near the river. The interior is very particular and in line with the traditions of the city. The waiters are efficient and kind. The first visit was particularly positive. The second one a little less because they made us wait longer and we oriented ourselves towards international and non-typical cuisine. In particular, the salmon was quite dry. The price/quality ratio is acceptable. I would absolutely go back, with an appropriate choice from the menu.

It was busy as hell when we arrived. We did not have a reservation. Somehow we were seated at one of the biggest the tables. Eventually we shared it with several others. We sat and tried to take in the surroundings. You need to see it to understand it. There is a comical twisted theme that is layered in. It's tight seating. People were packed in (except us with our giant round table). Our beers came quickly and not long after, our food. I was expecting mediocrity. It was perfect. The goulash had a fried minced onion topping that went great with the tender meat and knoddle. We watched our waiter serve over a sleeping dog, seriously, twice . We loved the food and the experience.. the prices were very fair for what is obviously a popular place. It's worth visiting for the novelty but it's equally worth visiting to enjoy the food.

The food is excellent. I had Schäufele with toilets. It was full and 35 degrees on the terrace. A real creamy sauce and the meat falls off the bone, it's so tender. The boss let me sit at his table because it was too crowded. Delicious beer, naturally cloudy. Price/performance ok. Catastrophe are the flies that have ruined the food in the huge swarm. There will then be around 30 flies sitting on the plate. That's how it is in summer on the river. So it's better to sit inside.

I read about this restaurant online beforehand. Then forget again. Today I ran at my Nbg. I happened to drive past it and took the opportunity to set up shop here. Thank God. A great culinary experience. The chanterelles with bread dumplings were great. The (young) service was very friendly and attentive. Clear recommendation.

You can do that, the food was good. I suspect that there are a lot of tourists here and the people of Nuremberg themselves come here less.
