A beautiful and cozy shop in the old town of Nuremberg. Beautiful decor, kind staff and relatively cheap for what we got. There is an issue with the water (generally in Germany from what I understand) but the overall picture was very satisfactory. If nothing else they have nice beers!We also met a compatriot greek waitress!HELLAS

Yes. We should ALL be wary of any restaurant that is in the center of a touristy area in a touristy town and has all the hallmarks of a historic place that caters to tourists -- often FOOD is the last item to get attention -- -- but seriously -- this is the best Franconian meal I've had in Bavaria. I went there twice in 4 days. I might go back again before we leave. AND it's in a genuinely historic restaurant, the servers were excellent, patient and attentive, and it's one of the coolest atmospheres in Nuremberg. They even have the smoked dark beer from Bamberg that's not super common to find, and pairs perfectly with the rich pork shoulder and meaty goulash stew. It literally has it all. Make a reservation, it's extremely tight quarters and often shared tables -- but friendliness, cozy atmosphere and surprisingly great food make it all a superb experience. Two thumbs up!

A lovely little Franconian wine and beer tavern with delicious food. Lovingly decorated with all sorts of curiosities. Very attentive and friendly staff. We were completely satisfied.

A beautiful, charming half-timbered house. The interior is simply stunning. However, it's not suitable for wheelchair users (too narrow). The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food and wine are delicious. We'll be back.

The food was delicious and well prepared, however we found a piece of rubber in the soup. The plate was replaced, I think it was an unfortunate moment. Otherwise, traditional environment and atmospheric decoration.

I don't quite understand the reason for the bad reviews. The food was very good, perhaps the best during our stay in the city. The atmosphere was pleasant and the waiters very polite. You simply have to make a reservation to guarantee a table; this is standard practice in most places around the world. We called a little earlier that same day and had our table reserved for lunch. Everything worked perfectly!

We were incredibly lucky to get a table without a reservation, thank you so much!! We really wanted to go here, as it's one of the most beautiful and delicious of the traditional restaurants in Germany. From the Sebaldus wheat beer to the best Nuremberg sausages, and the succulent pork tenderloin and pork shoulder, it was a delight. Highly recommended.

Have eaten there 3 times in the past 3 years. Great waiters and the best food in Nuremberg. Well worth the train ride from Munich. Make reservations if possible.

Incredible Franconian food, excellent service and wonderful museum-like interior decoration. It feels like a 16th century tavern inside.

One of the most remarkable shops you can visit in Nuremberg. Large portions, value for money. The only negative is the ventilation. We left and smelled of oil and frying pan.

We came here during Christmas, the restaurant was very crowded and we had to wait a bit. The Christmas menu was fantastic, and so were the other dishes. The portions were quite large and very delicious.

Very important It's best to reserve before holidays We were there on December 23, 2025 at 6:30 pm 3 adults We received a very friendly welcome and were given the menu very quickly and had plenty of time to choose. It was quite busy, but we could still have a good conversation. The food arrived at our table beautifully presented and tasted absolutely delicious. We were all satisfied and unanimously agreed that we would come back when we are in Nuremberg.

We reserved the entire restaurant for St. Thomas' Day and it was fantastic: excellent Franconian food (although I had to translate for our out-of-town guests what "Saure Zipfel," "6 auf Kraut," "Schäufala," and "Rauchbier" meant), attentive and friendly service (a rarity these days), good value for money, and a cozy, rustic atmosphere. Highly recommended, but not on the afternoon of the fourth Sunday of Advent: because we've already booked again for next year!

Well, what can I say? Anyone who's ever been to Nuremberg simply has to visit the Trödelstuben; it's practically a must. Really delicious food, tradition still plays a big role here, delicious food, delicious drinks, great service, courteous, nice, friendly, always perfect. Reservations are essential. We enjoyed a good meal here in a cozy atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive, though the portions were sometimes a bit small and, in our opinion, overpriced. This is likely due to the central location. Overall, we felt very comfortable.

The restaurant is very small, and I understand the staff's frustration if you don't have a reservation and there simply isn't a table. After a short wait, however, we were able to enjoy our meal. It was wonderful, thank you so much.

I don't want to waste much time on this review. From beginning to end, we were treated as if we were mentally challenged. Simply rude and not at all the manner of a proper innkeeper. We skipped the meal after experiencing this kind of behavior. The beer was good and served quickly.

Had a nice night here. This place is busy and jam-packed with tourists. The sign with 5 different languages for the bathrooms is helpful, but indicative. The fare was good; traditional Franconian food. The multilingual staff provided a functional, but somewhat jaded service. The restaurant was really snug and cosy with very amusing, traditional German decor. Picture the German equivalent of an Irish pub but with old German stuff instead of Irish stuff. It’s either quaint or kitsch, depending on your viewpoint. Good options for food and drink, but our least favourite of the three nights we’ve spent here so far.

Trödelstuben was first recommended to me by a local I met at my hotel, and then again by my guide during the Old Town walking tour – so I knew I had to try it. If I understood correctly, the building dates back to the 1890s. Inside, it feels like a cozy old house made up of small rooms. There are also miniature room decorations hanging from the ceilings and sitting on the shelves, which gives the place a very distinctive character. Despite the very full, almost crowded décor, it feels warm and inviting rather than overwhelming. I recommend trying the Wurst prepared in three different ways. I liked all the Franconian wines I tasted, but the one from Würzburg was especially delicious. And of course, no meal is complete without Apfelstrudel. Personally, I would have enjoyed it with a bit more cinnamon – but I won’t dare criticise a recipe that’s probably over 100 years old. 😊 Definitely worth a visit.

A very cosy little place with amazing food and friendly service.

Maybe all Germans are just that unfriendly, I don't know, but the older man at the entrance is incredibly rude. We told him we wanted to eat, he asked if we had a reservation, we said no, and then he rudely told us to look at the sign at the entrance indicating they didn't have any tables. Of course we'd seen it, but it didn't say anything about them not having TABLES. It literally said "no vacancies." Are we looking for jobs? At the very least, if they're going to be this incompetent, they should translate the signs properly.

What a shame – the ambiance would have been a 10 out of 10, the food was superb, the service perfect – in my opinion, the coziest restaurant in Nuremberg!!!!

Of all the places we ate during our stay in Nuremberg, Trodelstuben was the one i enjoyed less, mostly because of the waiter's rude way to behave. The place though is very beautiful and traditional, but the food was a bit bland, nothing special.

We had dinner there; the place was very cozy, the staff very friendly, and the food was excellent. The menu was in Spanish, which made it easy to decide what to order. I recommend it.

After a guided tour of medieval Nuremberg, we stopped here for lunch. The place is very quaint and authentically decorated. Unfortunately, it's quite cramped, but that also creates a cozy atmosphere. The goulash was really delicious, it just could have been warmer. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

The atmosphere is traditionally decorated, almost like a medieval tavern. The staff speak English and are very polite. The cuisine is excellent, featuring traditional Bavarian/Franco dishes.

A very quaint little Franconian restaurant. The food was very good. The service was friendly. But… the owner conducts all his office work at the next table, talking loudly on his cell phone. The office is in the small, quaint pub. You can hear every conversation, which is very disruptive to a pleasant meal. It's unacceptable. Guests are asked not to use their phones. Something is wrong here, and it ruins the atmosphere and style.

A beautiful, quaint, and very cozy restaurant with home-style dishes. Everything was delicious. This was our third time here, even though we live far away, but it's definitely worth the trip. Reservations are recommended, as the junk shop is very busy and doesn't have a lot of seating. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back.

Based on the excellent reviews and promises, we were excited... We were there in the afternoon, and it was moderately busy. Most of the tables were occupied, but the open ones were only available for a limited time due to reservations. No problem, you can usually manage quite relaxed. The dining room isn't very large, comfortably furnished, and quaint. Unfortunately, after we were seated, no one else came. The other two tables also switched to self-service, drawing attention to themselves and, in turn, to us. After a good half hour, food and drinks could be ordered. After another half hour, the main course arrived; the appetizer was forgotten – and we didn't want it anymore. We also canceled dessert. I don't want to be "fed away" at a gallop after an eternity, a whole hour! of being forgotten and waiting. For comparison, two guests were also sitting in the front section who arrived after us and received their food before we ordered! The food itself is Nuremberg standard, no better or worse than anywhere else in the city. There's also a modest selection of beer, though unfortunately, there's no red beer on the menu.

The cozy atmosphere invites you to sit back and enjoy your meal. Overall, we can say that, despite the above points, it was an interesting experience that is definitely worth a visit.

This would have been our second time there this year. Last time it was great. This time we had a reservation for 5:30 p.m., but our appointment was listed for 2:30 p.m., and although they asked for a phone number, they didn't call. We still got a table. The Schäudele (pork sausage) was very good, as were the appetizers. Unfortunately, my Sauerbraten wasn't. The two small slices were OK, but the larger slice was absolutely tough. Apparently, they know this, because when I told the waitress, she reacted very calmly. No apology or offer of a replacement. My girlfriend's dessert: a steamed dumpling, completely collapsed. Apparently, it had been sitting out for a while. That kind of thing shouldn't be served. After complaining, a new one came out, which was fine. But why serve something like that beforehand? When a friend then jokingly asked for a schnapps on the house, the response was simply a smile. Complaints management should still be practiced. What a shame. And then you have to take care of the cobwebs on the ceiling and the decorations...quaint, basically good food, just not today, unfortunately.

Based on the many positive reviews, we reserved a table before our trip to Nuremberg, and everything went perfectly. The restaurant is very comfortably furnished, just like a real living room, with tiled stoves and cozy seating areas. We had a fairly small table for three, which was a bit tight, but manageable. The food was perfect and delicious. The staff was attentive and super friendly; we would definitely go back.
