Trattoria La Famiglia in Essen

5 stars because more is not possible. There are few restaurants where you receive an attentive and friendly welcome, so it's all the more pleasing when you experience something like this at La Famiglia. We went there on a Saturday evening as a group of three for dinner during a short stay at Movie Park. We were greeted warmly and asked to choose a table. Our 4-year-old daughter insisted on sitting at the bench, which was clearly too big – no problem for the hosts. We ordered two pizzas and one pasta. Since there was no children's menu, we asked if it was possible to get a smaller portion for our daughter. Absolutely no problem, whether pizza or pasta, we can get any dish in a smaller size – great :-) The welcome from the kitchen was surprising but all the more delicious – pizza rolls with homemade aioli, at least as delicious as the rest. To finish off, there was even "Kinder Limoncello" (Fanta in a shot glass with ice). A small gesture with a great effect. I'm happy to spend my money here, but unfortunately, due to the distance, it won't be that often. Other restaurants are welcome to take a seat here and relearn what hospitality means.

The food was fantastic and the service was super friendly. We happened upon this place by chance, but if we're ever in Essen again, we'll definitely come back. Highly recommended! :)

Not only is the food truly delicious, plentiful, and beautifully presented, but the family that runs this restaurant is also incredibly hospitable. Since I was here for work, it felt like coming home. Great atmosphere, delicious food, and pleasant conversations. The service is also really good, friendly, and attentive. The overall package is just right here, and anyone who finds something to complain about here is complaining at a very high level. I'm sure we'll see each other again - and if not at your restaurant, then in Weyhe :)

I don't often give reviews. But I have to write something here. It is a really nice, lovingly run family restaurant. Mama cooks with heart and you can taste it. This was our second time there and as I said, the food is great. The service is great, a real person. Go here it is recommended. You can say....eating like a family....TOP can only be recommended!!!!

A real gem! The restaurant is run with a lot of heart and passion by a wonderful family who welcomes their guests with great warmth. You immediately feel welcome here! The lasagne in particular is a dream – homemade, perfectly seasoned and incredibly tasty. But the other dishes are also delicious and prepared with a lot of love. Because of further professional development, I spent three nights in Essen and always had dinner at Trattoria La Famiglia. It was delicious every time and the staff was super friendly. If I'm in Essen again, I'd be happy to come back.

Was seated in a nice spot without a reservation despite the busy period. Wine was good and the tagliatelle with tomato cream sauce and shrimp was also good. Price performance was right and I would go there again.

Delicious Italian food. The prices are in the middle segment, fair and appropriate for the quality of the food. Stauder on tap and free rolls with spread and limonchello as a nightcap served with the meal. The waitress was very friendly and always there immediately when you were thinking about ordering something. Great, we ate there for the 7th time and everyone was completely satisfied. The atmosphere is ok, could be nicer and more comfortable. Standard seats and no proper separation from the adjacent tables.

Spontaneously looked for a restaurant and discovered this small, cozy restaurant. The atmosphere was very appealing and the service was extremely friendly! We had bruschetta, pizza tonno and spaghetti with prawns. Everything was extremely tasty and the prices were also reasonable. Highly recommended! 👍

It's a small restaurant, but the staff is really friendly. Pasta is delicious. There are a lot of them. Margherita pizza is a bit salty for Korean tastes. I felt the same way when I traveled to the US or other European countries, so I don't think it's a problem with this restaurant. The prices were not expensive compared to other German restaurants. In particular, it is kindness that prompted me to write this article. Two people ordered three menus. The dining table for two was small and a bit inconvenient, but they allowed me to use another table even though it was busy. And we accidentally left our bags behind, but even in the rain, they came running and handed us our bags. Thank you so much.

We went there spontaneously for dinner. 2 adults and a 7 year old. My son was allowed to place his own order very lovingly and special requests were also implemented accordingly. The food came promptly and was extremely tasty. Large portions and really tasty. Loving treatment and no complaints.

We were a group in the next room, which was very loud - no acoustic elements. Unfortunately there was no gluten-free pasta. But the seafood salad and capaccio were good. Very friendly family service.

Waiting time for the food was ok. The rump steak was quite well done, but the menu was good overall. The kitchen was closed at 10 p.m. and so no dessert was possible after dinner. It's a shame, it could have been said.

The two of us were in Essen for a sporting event and wanted to have an Italian lunch near the main train station. We discovered Trattoria La Famiglia right on a busy main road. Since we didn't want to sit outside in the small outdoor area right on the sidewalk and street, we took a seat in the restaurant. The restaurant offers only a few seats compared to other restaurants, but this has a certain charm, which is further enhanced by the very attentive service and the furnishings with attention to detail (e.g. a real red rose in the vase on every table). The menu offers everything you would expect in an Italian restaurant (fish, pizza, pasta, starters, sweets). We chose the tortellini with ham and cream sauce with ham, tomato penne with chicken and bruschetta as a starter, a bottle of St. Pellegrino and an iced tea. We were really pleasantly and positively surprised at the prices. The starter was 6.50 euros and our main courses were 10-12 euros, and that's in today's times. The food was served fresh and warm and tasted really delicious. The quality of the food used was okay and in keeping with the price. The restaurant doesn't promise "upscale" Italian cuisine, but rather honest, tasty and good food. The sauce on the tortellini was a bit over-seasoned, but that only spoiled the overall impression. Nevertheless, we deducted a star here. There was also a deduction for the location of the outdoor spaces. In total we only paid just under 40 euros, which is a great price for the food and the feeling of being welcomed as a guest. The great service, the price-performance ratio and the great atmosphere should therefore justify a five star rating despite the small deductions in the categories mentioned. We really liked it, try it, you won't be disappointed. For us, Trattoria La Famiglia is a little insider tip, as we wouldn't have been able to find our way here from outside/the street side. We would definitely have missed something nice.

We went here coz its the closest restaurant, its one of those restaurants that you come in once and never come back. We had a tuna salad which is bland basically had balsamic vinegar and then things thrown tad SALAD, pasta was well cooked but the flavor is not there, pizza was nice but soo „watery“, felt like just everything was thrown together and tada! PIZZA, pizza bread was good actually. Server was really nice. Ice tea is store bought icef tea anf poor into a glass.

We stayed overnight at the nearby Ghotel and decided to stop at this trattoria on a whim. A perfect decision!!!🤗 Service was a dream, the service was alone, super fast and always a warm smile on her face! The food (we had pasta and salad) was super tasty. The dishes were on the table in no time. Many a fast food restaurant can learn a lesson from this! If we lived in Essen, this would be our favorite restaurant. Since we often commute to the Ruhr area, we will come back. Also because of the tiramisu.😉

A hopeless place. I ordered gnocchi in tomato sauce with mozzarella and basil, which had nothing to do with Italian food. The tomato sauce was some kind of puree with cream, and the basil was chopped parsley and one basil leaf. I definitely do not recommend it. There were no guests except us. Instead of cleaning the lamps, the staff sat outside under an umbrella. Only the pizza with arugula and Parma ham was ok.

There were two of us there and we each had cannelloni spinaci, i.e. two tube pasta filled with spinach and gratinated with cheese. There were no table settings, so no pizza rolls or anything like that. The cheese was used very sparingly, the spinach was seasoned but overall very bland, the cream sauce simply lacked spice and cheese. The cannelloni cost 14 euros per serving, which is very sporty for such a very simple dish. Not even my companion, who usually leaves a lot left over, was full. Luckily we had a coupon from the voucher book, which made it a little more bearable. But the service was very friendly and did a good job. The price of the drinks (in our case a bottle of ST. Pellegrino 0.7l) at 5.50 euros is very fair by today's standards.

Every year for the last three years there has been great (palate) delight at Trattoria La Famiglia! We come as a larger group (10-15 people) as part of our trade fair and other events. The host family is simply honest, open, friendly and accommodating. Everyone will find something on the menu and special requests are always fulfilled. Plus a good price-performance ratio. We simply feel comfortable and would love to come back! Thanks to the great team!!!

The shop is really cute, the man with the white shirt and the lady who work in service were very friendly. Unfortunately, though The pizza was a complete disaster, it was so wobbly in the middle that it fell off on its own. We ate them anyway because we were so hungry and had come from a long trip, and the store was just before closing time, so we didn't say anything. Normally a pizza has to be slightly crispy, but unfortunately it was as if the base of the pizza hadn't been baked.

The trattoria is a small, cozy restaurant. The service is pleasantly quick and very friendly. The pizza and especially the panna cotta are among the best I've had recently. The prices are very fair considering the quality offered.

Really great Valentine's Day dinner. The wine was wonderful and the service was great. We had the seafood and prawn special of the day and the spinach and ricotta ravioli. The portions were huge and really good value. Would recommend it 100%!
