ALTES STIFTSHAUS in Essen

Wir haben(Achtung!!!) 2,5 STD. auf unser Essen gewartet!!! UNFASSBAR! Und das Restaurant war draußen gut besucht, aber Innen leer. Da es ein besonderer Abend sein sollte, konnte man sich nicht auf ein Gehen einigen. Wären wir zu zweit gewesen, hätten wir das Lokal nach spätestens 1 Std. verlassen. Eine ENTSCHULDIGUNG gab es erst am ENDE in Form einer Nachspeisenplatte😳 Das Essen war für alle Anwesenden so lala gut, mehr aber auch nicht. Mir ist es im Übrigen Rätsel, das eine frisch gegrillte Dorade(filettiert) 3 Seiten hat!!🤔

Juli 2026: ***** Wir haben es wieder getan und wurden nicht enttäuscht! Wir haben bei Jürgen im "Alten Stiftshaus" gestern einen wunderbaren Abend verlebt. Mit unserer 20-köpfigen Familie haben wir auf der Terrasse einen runden Geburtstag gefeiert. Es war ein Fest! Jürgen hat uns eine Tafel aus Tischen im hinteren Teil hergerichtet, sodass wir hoffentlich die anderen Gäste nicht störten, aber auch selber unsere Ruhe hatten. Das Team hat uns mit einem hauseigenen spritzig erfrischendem Aperitif empfangen und mit einer Auswahl an kalten italienischen Vorspeisen verwöhnt. Die Hauptgerichte, ob Fleisch, Fisch, Pasta oder Beilagen waren frisch zubereitet und ließen uns glauben wir waren wirklich an der italienischen Riviera. Das es bei gleichzeitiger Bewirtung von 20 Personen auch mal zu kleinen Wartezeiten kam, konnten wir getrost verzeihen. Und es gab ja auch noch andere Gäste im Lokal. Es war so lecker! Keiner hat Grund zur Beschwerde. Fleisch, Fisch, Pasta und Beilagen waren ein Gedicht. Blieb was übrig, war es der Menge geschuldet, nicht dem guten Geschmack. Danach saßen wir noch im geselliger Runde und genossen den Abend, den Wein, die Espressi und Cappuccinos (ist das so korrekt?) und natürlich die ein oder andere Nachspeise. Und so wunderte es uns fast nicht mehr, das nach 5 Stunden, wir nur noch die letzten Gäste waren. Gracie mille an das tolle Team vom Stiftshaus! Ein Abend der noch lange in Erinnerung bleibt! Bereue es seit heute, als gebürtiger Essener noch nie im Stiftshaus gewesen zu sein. War heute mit kleinem Familienkreis dort Essen. Kleine Geburtstagsnachfeier. Wir kamen uns von der ersten Sekunde an freundschaftlich willkommen. Empfangen wohl vom Chef Jürgen, wurden wir an unseren Tisch gleitet und bis zum Ende hervorragend bedient. Angebote des Tages wurden gekonnt offeriert. Die Antipasti für 5 Personen war binnen 10 Minuten serviert. Alle Hauptgerichte wurden gemeinsam serviert. Alle waren sehr zufrieden. Pizza, Pasta, Carne. Alles top. Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal dort, kommen aber garantiert erneut vorbei. Grazie di cuore a tutto il team. Ciao!

Alles prima …wir haben die leckere Lasagne und die Gnocchi mit Pistazienpesto gegessen ….mein Wunsch mit extra Lachs war kein Problem.Es hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt.Zum Essen ein sehr leckeres Naturradler und danach leckeren Latte Macchiato auf der ruhigen Terasse genossen. Toller Abend mit gutem Service .🫶

Das Essen war sehr gut und wir kommen mit Sicherheit wieder. Vor allem die Kellner waren zuvorkommend und freundlich, kann ich nur weiter empfehlen. Vertrau Brudi 😎

Altes Stiftshaus: Es hat nach wie vor seinen Flair, das Ambiente ist göttlich. Sympathische und freundliche Bedienungen, kleinere Fehler werden dem Gast auf Kosten des Hauses umgehend versùsst. Alles in allem, hohe Qualität, schneller Service, handwerklich vortrefflich. Vorbildliches Restaurant! Tiramisu: Es besteht die Pflicht, dies zu probieren.

Sehr angenehmes italienisches Restaurant. Angenehmes Ambiente. Im Sommer kann man draußen essen. Preisspanne ist erheblich. Nudelgerichte und Pizza erschwinglich. Aber bei Fisch und Fleisch kann man auch ordentlich Geld ausgeben. Der nette Inhaber ist meistens im Restaurant und für alle realistischen Wünsche offen.

Wir kommen immer gerne zum Abendessen her. Mit Hausherrn Jürgen hat das Stiftshaus den perfekten Gastgeber gefunden, der es schafft, dass sich jede wohlfühlen kann und sich willkommen fühlt! Hier kannst du nicht nur sein wie du bist, hier sollst du auch so sein, wie du bist. Dazu gutes, liebevoll bereitetes Essen, a(sogar auch vegan), den besten Grappa der Welt und ein absolut uriges Ambiente. Wie gut, das alte Stiftshaus, Jürgen und sein Team in der direkten Nachbarschaft zu haben! Der Höhepunkt unserer Erlebnisse hier war, dass wir im Mai 25 hier unsere silberne Hochzeit feiern konnten! So ein gelungenes Fest! Alle haben sich so wohlgefühlt, haben gut gegessen, getrunken und getanzt! Am liebsten würde ich das ab jetzt jedes Jahr machen! Danke Jürgen und Team von ganzem Herzen! ♥️

Es gibt doch noch gute Nachrichten. Gestern durften wir das Restaurant „Altes Stiftshaus“ kennenlernen und sind begeistert. Eine entspannte Atmosphäre seitens des Gastwirtes, die Begrüßung so als wenn man sich bereits kennt. Das Essen einfach lecker, auf Wünsche wurde ganz sympathisch eingegangen. Wir waren zu zweit an einem Wochentag bei Gino im „Alten Stiftshaus“. Er wurde mir von einer Freundin wärmstens empfohlen. Leider kann ich diese Empfehlung nicht teilen. Das Vitello Tonnato für 15 € war erbärmlich in Menge und Geschmack. Meine Vorspeise, die Weinbergschnecken in Sahnesauce waren frei von Gusto und schwammen nur in Sahne. Unsere beiden Hauptspeisen waren beide viel zu fettig, fade und kein bischen abgeschmeckt. Für jede Hausfrau, die auch nur ein wenig kochen gelernt hat, war das Essen unterdurchschnittlich, ebenso der recht teure Wein. Wir haben 100 € dagelassen und kommen nicht wieder. Aber die anderen Damen, die hier Bewertungen hinterlassen, sind alle sehr angetan.

Seit kurzem gibt es eine vegane Auswahl und wir haben direkt einen Besuch abgestattet! Mein Mann hatte Kalbskotelett und ich die vegane Pizza - beide sind satt und super glücklich raus gegangen 💜 nächste mal wird die vegane Panna Cotta probiert 🥄

The atmosphere is relaxed and genuine. Old walls, beautiful details, and rooms that don't feel prim and proper, but rather full of character. You can sense the history here, without it feeling old-fashioned. Everything feels harmonious and pleasantly manageable. The way people interact with each other is also very pleasant. Friendly, attentive, and uncomplicated. Arrangements are made smoothly; you feel well taken care of and not like you're part of a tightly scheduled program. This creates a relaxed atmosphere for everyone involved. The Alte Stiftshaus is a venue for people who appreciate a personal touch. Not too big, not too pretentious, but warm, authentic, and full of charm. A place where you quickly feel at home.

Last Saturday, we celebrated a milestone birthday in grand style at the Alte Stiftshaus, and it was simply wonderful. Even the preliminary discussions, for which Jürgen Landsmann dedicated a great deal of time, were very constructive, productive, and harmonious. On the day of the celebration, Jürgen and Janine beautifully decorated the room, creating a "wow" effect for everyone who arrived. The service throughout the evening was very friendly, prompt, and reliable—simply perfect. The buffet-style food was absolutely delicious; everyone loved it. The atmosphere was fantastic, and everyone felt very comfortable. The evening will remain unforgettable for us. Many, many thanks to Jürgen and his entire team.

We celebrated our birthday party last week at the old monastery, and we are so happy and delighted with the wonderful evening. The restaurant was incredibly beautifully decorated with balloons and table decorations, creating a truly festive atmosphere. The buffet food was fantastic, the service was incredibly attentive and friendly, and absolutely nothing was left to be desired. The atmosphere was wonderful, and we celebrated and danced until late into the night. It was a dream, and we thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for making it such a marvelous celebration!

The Alte Stiftshaus has quickly become our regular restaurant. The food is consistently excellent: appetizer platters, pizza, pasta dishes, meat, fish—we were always full and happy (the cassata!!). It's always worth following the daily specials. The people are friendly and accommodating, they clearly enjoy having guests, and above all: the warmth is genuine, not businesslike!

Once and never again... The four of us recently visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening. We received a friendly welcome and placed our orders. First, drinks, appetizers, and then the main courses. The staff was initially very helpful and attentive. We were always served drinks, and there were no complaints about the appetizers. For our main courses, we chose: - Straccetti di Filetto di Manzo (Salad with Fillet Strips) - Bistecca al Tartufo (Grilled Rump Steak in Truffle Sauce) - Pizza Jürgen (Bolognese with Peppers) - Calamari alla griglia (Grilled Squid) ... When the food arrived, we were extremely disappointed. The fillet strips in the salad resembled a shoe sole—tough, old, and dry. The squid had never seen a grill and was, unfortunately, inedible. The rump steak was swimming in a "truffle soup" instead of the sauce described. We alerted the staff to the problems. They apologized, stating that, for example, the grill wasn't working, so the squid was being cooked in a pan. The other inconveniences were ignored, as they were only part of the service and no one in charge was on site. No concessions or compensation from the staff were considered, so we paid our €180 bill for a disappointing, yet educational evening. Conclusion: ONCE AND NEVER AGAIN...

Unfortunately, the dishes have nothing to do with Italian cuisine. The food was not prepared and served as described on the menu. Inquiries and complaints were not addressed appropriately. Super nice reception, there was a Prosecco from the house for the wedding anniversary. Thank you for your attention! I ordered very good veal medallions with lemon sauce and rosemary potatoes/vegetables. My husband ordered rump steak with salad instead of vegetables. Unfortunately, there was only the salad as a side dish, no rosemary potatoes - so we had probably misinterpreted the sentence "... side dishes are served with main courses". Both meat and all side dishes were very well cooked/seasoned. The tiramisu was really a dream - highly recommended! We will definitely come back.

We celebrated our civil wedding with family in the Old Stiftshaus. We are more than satisfied! From the first contact, through planning to implementation, everything went smoothly. They took the time to plan everything and even gave tips on where to get beautiful flowers or a photo box, for example. We were allowed to bring our own flowers and decorations, which were set up or beautifully prepared for us. The owner and his lovely wife are such friendly and positive people. We felt very comfortable. We are also very satisfied with the food and the service. The food was outstanding! Everything was timed and all needs and wishes were taken into account. The little guests also had fun and were allowed to move around freely and simply be children. Great atmosphere, wonderful people. Thank you for this beautiful day!

It doesn't really look Italian inside. Partially clear view of the kitchen, which is not designed for this. There were also some things that didn't go well with the food. Veal medallions in citric acid. Everything floats on the plate and you don't want to sink the separately served side dishes there. Too bad. It was a very nice stay in the Old Stiftshaus with very nice and attentive staff. The food always tastes freshly prepared and delicious. We have been there several times and have never been disappointed, in groups large and small. Always happy to come back. The Limoncello Summer-fresh was really a good additional recommendation 👍. You can also sit comfortably in the garden, thanks to Jürgen Landsmann and see you soon.

We were in the Old Stiftshaus on a Friday and were greeted by the owner with a handshake. Special offers were suggested to us and the menu was brought to us. After selecting and ordering, it didn't take long for our food to be brought out. Everything was very tasty, for example the rump steak was cooked to perfection and the other dishes were also excellent. Service was super nice, very nice atmosphere. Another visit very, very happy again.

Unfortunately a failure! Carpaccio: Beef fillet, flattened parmesan (plate upon plate) not even a hint of anything green like arugula, but the entire edge of the plate is covered in fingerprints. The first plate was returned, the next one looked just as sad, this time with a lemon stone on the edge. A great comment from the waitress when we said he was welcome to take the two half lemons with him. Groaning audibly and shaking his head, he went back into the kitchen. After we asked the owner to take the carpaccio off the bill, which he did, he recommended that we go to another restaurant next time. We'll be happy to do that then. For the sake of good order, it should be mentioned: the steak was ok, no questions were asked about the desired cooking level, pepper and salt were only asked for. Fridays 5 p.m.: guest room and terrace, no guests except us - that speaks for itself.

Meine Mutter hat im Alten Stiftshaus mit 14 Gästen ihren 75. Geburtstag gefeiert. Für die Kinder gab es Pizza und für alle anderen gehobene italienische Küche. Wir waren rundum begeistert! Das Ambiente, die vorzüglichen, auf den Punkt zubereiteten exquisiten Speisen und der freundliche und sympathische Service haben dafür gesorgt, dass unsere Stimmung den ganzen Abend über wirklich allerbestens war. Wir wurden nach dem Essen auch nicht - wie es in anderen Lokalen leider häufiger vorkommt - „hinausgekehrt“ um die Tische frei zu machen, sondern konnten ganz entspannt den schönen Abend ausklingen lassen. Vielen Dank, dieser Geburtstag unserer Mutter im Alten Stiftshaus wird uns allen in schönster Erinnerung bleiben. Top-Empfehlung, wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Wir haben dort unsere Weihnachtsfeier gehabt und waren alles in allem zufrieden. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Auch wenn's mal voller ist. Das Essen ist völlig ok. Sehr guter Standard. Die Speisekarte ist überschaubar was aber auch Vorteile hat. Weniger ist mehr. Und insofern verirrt man sich auch nicht über zu viele Seiten mit unübersichtlich angeordneten Speisen. Die Preise sind moderat. Für 3 Personen haben wir insgesamt knapp 180€ bezahlt. In den wärmeren Zeiten kann man auch gut den Biergarten nutzen. Aber besser nicht während der Rush Hour. Das Restaurant liegt unmittelbar an einer Hauptverkehrsstraße. Also besser warten bis sich der Verkehr beruhigt hat. Aber dennoch vergebe ich gerne 4 Sterne. Das Gesamtpaket ist wirklich sehr gut.
