We were absolutely impressed by both the service and the food. Highly recommended.

The food was really great, but unfortunately, we had to wait forever, so long that we weren't even hungry anymore. The staff weren't particularly friendly either and rolled their eyes when we asked when our food would be ready. After over an hour, we finally got our food, just as we were about to leave... Never worth a visit again.

The pizzas were really good – absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the surroundings were disappointing. The restaurant doesn't seem very welcoming, and small service issues don't leave a good impression: No bread with oil and balsamic vinegar to start with (only upon request and then for €2), a €3 surcharge because the sauce was supposed to be served separately with the children's plate, and we even had to pay extra for taking the uneaten children's meal home. It's a shame – in such a beautiful location, we expected more hospitality.

The bruschetta and spaghetti carbonara are highly recommended.

The four of us – two adults and two children – dined at the Trattoria Aurelia, directly across from the entrance, after a lovely day at the zoo. We were honestly surprised that a pizzeria so close to Zoo Station could offer such high quality. We would particularly like to highlight the service: The waiter, a young man with blond hair, truly impressed us. He was exceptionally courteous, polite, and attentive – something you rarely experience. The pizza was a real highlight: crispy, perfectly topped, and even the crust was so good that even our child said, "I've probably only had better in Italy." The fish dish from the menu – a perch fillet served with pasta and fresh salad – was also excellent. Finely seasoned, light yet filling, a real treat. All in all: great food, great service, and a very pleasant atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

I had to leave because they wouldn't serve me. They gave me the menu and didn't even look at me the whole time I was sitting. It seems like if you don't speak German here, you're no one to them. Turists, dont go here.

We were there on a Thursday during the summer holidays. Seating on the terrace was only available by reservation or if you liked the look on the grim waitress's face. So we sat inside. We were served by a very charming, attentive young man. It's a joy for me as a restaurateur that there are still new talents in our industry. Nice little menu. It's a shame there were no bread, dip, olives, or anything like that beforehand. We're used to it from Italian restaurants. Probably due to rising costs. My men had pizza and spaghetti carbonara. Both very tasty. I had lasagna royale, which didn't impress me. Sandy mushrooms, neutral flavor, burnt on top.

Unfortunately, you can't give 0 stars. We arrived with two strollers and the first thing the waitress told us was that she couldn't seat us where she'd planned, even though we'd said we were coming with two babies. Next, we asked about ingredients due to allergies, and were told we'd have to go somewhere else. No problem, we left and can recommend several other restaurants that were much friendlier and delivered top-quality food.

Delicious food, nice service, what more could you want

A small, charming trattoria, cozy inside and out. They even take great care of the little ones. From changing tables and booster seats to pens and coloring pages, everything has been thought of. They also thoughtfully reserved thick-walled glasses for drinks. The food was delicious and fresh.

We ate there after our visit to the zoo and were very satisfied.

I can't really understand the good reviews. At reception it was made clear straight away that special requests are not permitted; if you sit outside once you're cold you can't go back in. We just had to smile and bravely decided on the outside table. They've seen better days, but hey, the main thing is that the food tastes good, right? We quickly found something and ordered the Carbonara and Lasagne Al Forno. My partner didn't like the Carbonara at all as it was full of leftover ham rind. Not exactly tasty. The lasagne was served in a small dish and it wasn't even half full, neither in the height nor on the sides. It was also partly burnt. And that for over €16 a portion. As a chef I would seriously doubt my honor. As a precaution you don't ask the guest if everything is or was OK; you put two small mini candies on the payment without comment, once again as confirmation that only minimal goods are used here, please don't overdo it. 😂 Okay, then not. 🥲 Addendum: Of course, you can make a lot of people happy with good pizza and thus earn a lot of good reviews, and after the good reviews, we left and were still disappointed. That can happen, but you should still be open to criticism. The lasagna was an absolute joke for the price, no matter how much you talk about price increases. There are limits to what a customer can tolerate, and I'm happy to pay a little more for good food and service, but not for rip-offs. This becomes apparent when you consider that for €32, I would have essentially gotten a full bowl of lasagna, which would fill you up. I can do without the upselling of desserts. We certainly didn't tip that generously, nor did we have a pleasant interaction with your staff. They weren't at all interested in the satisfaction of our table or the other tables next to us, and we had to be called to pay. What would a complaint on the spot have achieved other than tired arguments? The host is well aware of what he's pushing on the customer. That's the worst part. But we wish you continued success with the concept. It'll all work out. 👌🏻

There were three of us, the food was okay, but we all thought it was extremely rude while one of us was still eating and the others' plates were being cleared away. Partially taken away from the Essede person. The ambience was ok, but unfortunately it was a bit loud, but that was more due to the many families who were in the restaurant at the time.

We went to the pizzeria in the afternoon (since it is open all day long) Service was friendly, quick and responded to requests. The pizzas were ok, not the big highlight. I also ordered garlic on my pizza, it was carelessly added to the topping in large pieces. The salad came without dressing (oil and vinegar were brought to the table) Although it is common in Italy, I personally would find a house-made dressing more advantageous or the choice of getting one.

We pre-ordered as a group - 6 starters and 14 main courses. The appetizers came fairly promptly. The first 6 main courses arrived 75 minutes after we entered the restaurant. My pizza was tasteless and watery. I say: No, thank you!

I went to this restaurant with a friend on Saturday. The food was good and the atmosphere was also pleasant. We are both students and were looking forward to a relaxing evening. The service was initially friendly, but unfortunately the mood changed completely when we paid. We both paid by card (€19.40 for me for a pizza and water) and didn't leave a tip. The waitress - I don't know whether it was a normal employee or perhaps the boss, probably more of an employee - then reacted very unprofessionally: She thanked me ironically with the words "Thank you very much, we live on tips" and later added that soon there would probably only be self-service restaurants. I found that completely inappropriate. In Germany, tipping is voluntary and a sign of special satisfaction, not a mandatory part of payment - unlike in the USA. Especially since the minimum wage was only increased a few months ago. As students without a steady income, we simply cannot afford to tip extra everywhere, especially since the prices in this restaurant are already higher than in many others. Comments like this, which actually put guests under pressure, are not acceptable to me at all. It's a shame, because the food and the ambience are otherwise highly recommended.

The pizza was delicious and the service was very friendly! All in all, highly recommended and we will be back! I deducted a small star because the carpaccio was fridge-cold and the bread was unfortunately only so-so. But that's complaining at a high level.

Very friendly service. We got a table right away, albeit only for two hours. We both ate a pizza. It wasn't bad, but there weren't many toppings and a very wide crust. Two pizzas and a Coke cost €35. One table down was a dog bed with a large dog. That didn't bother us, as we love dogs. The bed, however, should be washed. The smell of it wasn't so pleasant while eating.

A superb experience for the palate. And everything else is just perfect. A very cozy atmosphere, and the staff finds just the right balance between coming to the table at the right time without being too intrusive. My only minor personal complaint is that I would have liked some subtle (Italian) music in the background.

We had a pleasant stay at Trattoria Aurelia and would happily recommend the restaurant. Located somewhat hidden on the Parthe opposite the zoo, it offers a quiet atmosphere, very tasty food and good wine, etc. Ordering a table online is uncomplicated, reliable and particularly recommended at peak times. You can take a seat both on the terrace and, of course, inside. We were served in a friendly manner, but repeatedly* had to wait a relatively long time for a reaction from the service staff... and we don't mean the preparation time of the dishes - they were freshly prepared, which is something we are happy to accept. Otherwise: gladly again.

The staff is super nice and polite. People regularly ask whether everything is okay or whether they can have something to drink. A table was also specially prepared for my parents for their wedding day, which is not done in every restaurant. The restaurant looks beautiful and it also looks incredibly good on the terrace/balcony. The dishes were all really tasty, just a little too much if you eat a starter, main course and dessert. But that is the least of the problems. I just felt bad that I didn't finish it even though it was so delicious. Price performance is also very good, you pay around €40-50 per person, which is completely okay for what you get (ambience, selection, staff, good food). The menu offers a nice selection and the little story about the restaurant on the first page is also a nice touch and good if you have to wait a few minutes longer. All in all 4.9/5 stars and we will definitely come more often.

We came here after visiting the zoo and it was really delicious! There was a seasonal menu with asparagus and also German strawberries for dessert! 🍓 I had pasta and my friend had pizza, which was Neapolitan style! Unfortunately, both were so fantastic that I couldn't photograph them! The service was very friendly and quick! We had a seat outside, but there is also a very loving and cozy atmosphere inside! We'd love to come back! ☺️

We were looking for a restaurant after a long, tiring but beautiful day at the Leipzig Zoo. Ordered a table quickly online 2 hours before your visit. As requested, we sat outside with a view of the zoo. The food was delicious and so was the drink. The service was quite busy, but was always nice and courteous. We can only recommend it.

Spontaneously had a wonderful meal just before the kitchen closed in the evening after the half marathon. Very professional service. Spaghetti perfectly al dente, served in a bowl, which always scores points for me. Solid cutlery, just the way I love it. Pizza Quattro Fromaggi rich and delicious, my partner's verdict. Limoncello Sprizz fine, tea service nice. House grappa is great, espresso too. Romantic atmosphere. House dog a dear. Toilets beyond reproach. Prices are okay considering the quality. Very satisfied.

We can't comment on the food as unfortunately it didn't happen, but we can comment on the service. We had made a reservation online and then it was explained to us in a very unfriendly manner that we had seen the reservation but that it was supposedly gone - incl. the insinuation that we canceled (which we simply didn't as it was a special occasion). Apart from the fact that the whole thing was repeated over and over again, it was not very solution-oriented and simply unfriendly. We then left. It's a shame...we moved in around the corner and would have been happy to have a new regular Italian. However, the lady was far from Italian hospitality.

The food is good, unfortunately the service leaves more than to be desired. Receptionist: you should really think about your position again. I think to the boss: how on earth can you put everything in one container when you ask to take food with you and then charge €1 for packaging? Some are simply “fat” and probably no longer need it. But the market will have a regulating effect there too. We will definitely not visit this restaurant again.
