Unfortunately, our visit left a very disappointing impression. From arrival to departure, the service seemed disorganized and overwhelmed. Clear procedures were evidently lacking, which significantly impacted the entire evening. The food was also underwhelming. The overall quality was rather average, and some dishes were served lukewarm. Our orders arrived with considerable delays, sometimes only after we inquired several times. Reordering additional items proved difficult, as the waitstaff was frequently unreachable. We spent an unusually long time waiting, without the situation noticeably improving. It seemed that the restaurant is currently struggling with staffing or organizational issues. We are particularly critical of their handling of feedback: negative comments and critical reviews appear to be deleted instead of being addressed constructively. In our view, a transparent approach to criticism is essential for a professional restaurant – this practice leaves a very poor impression. It's a shame, as we had expected much more. We will not be returning to Toms on the Rocks. Food: 2/5 Service: 1/5 Atmosphere: 2/5

We recently ate at this burger restaurant 🍔 in the heart of Ratingen using a coupon book and unfortunately, we were disappointed. Although the location at the end of the pedestrian zone is very nice 🌳 and the service was friendly 😊, there were a few shortcomings. 😮‍💨 First of all, we ordered our food 🥘 via QR code on the website, which can be quite overwhelming for older people 🧓👵. The restaurant clearly targets a younger demographic, but it would be nice if older guests were better supported and a printed menu was also available. There were four of us, and we had to wait 45 minutes for our food ⏳. When it finally arrived, our steak 🥩 was lukewarm, even though we had ordered it well-done. The others ordered burgers 🍔 and chicken 🍗 skewers, which were okay, but nothing special. ... After the meal, the waitress walked past our table at least eight times without clearing away the empty plates 🍽️, even though we were all finished. It seemed like both the service and the kitchen were overwhelmed 😫. Overall, it was a disappointing experience 😏, and unfortunately, we can't say we'll be returning. It's a shame, because our expectations were higher.

We were there today, and the service wasn't great. There were constantly different people serving us, we didn't have salad dressing, and our food sat under the pass for ages, so it wasn't really warm. We could see it because we were sitting near the kitchen. They should be a bit bolder with the salt and pepper. It was also quite cold inside, and the restrooms were freezing. I had really hoped for more, especially since I'd seen it at my local restaurant, and I wanted to spend our wedding anniversary there. It's a shame; it definitely has more potential.

Unfortunately, a huge disappointment. From the moment we arrived until we left, the service seemed very disorganized and overwhelmed. The processes appeared poorly coordinated. The food was generally mediocre and sometimes not even properly heated. Orders arrived with a significant delay and often only after repeated requests. Ordering additional items was difficult, as the staff was frequently unreachable. Overall, we had to wait a very long time. We got the impression that the restaurant is currently not optimally staffed or organized. A shame, but we definitely won't be returning to Toms on the Rocks.

Absolutely terrible! We made a reservation for almost 10 people to ensure everything ran smoothly. The service was completely unprofessional! We waited almost 1.5 hours for our food, which arrived all at once, but that's precisely the problem! Every dish was cold, and the meat was barely edible. When we asked for improvement, as we still wanted to give the food a chance, the waiter threw the meat in the microwave! Seriously?! The salad dressing was sour (we were worried it had gone bad), so we told the waiter. He dipped his fingers into the salad and tasted the dressing: "It tastes okay, just a little salty," and then left the salad and walked away. The waiter brought the same person the wrong dish three times, spoke almost no German, was extremely rude, and just complained. Many of our dishes were missing sauces, which we pointed out, but we never received them. The portions were also child-sized, and the prices were ridiculously high. At the end, when we tried to pay despite everything, he tried to charge us full price for everything, even though most of us hadn't even eaten 20%! (He even tried to charge us for the sauces we never received.) In the end, he just told us to leave and that was that, no apology or anything. The toilet is awful. The way there is down a staircase that looks like it was built for Minions; you bump your head on it 20 times and can't even walk properly. The toilets are in an old-fashioned style, which is all well and good, but who builds a urinal 5 meters long and then in such a way that it doesn't even drain properly, but everything just stays in there and stinks to high heaven? I don't usually write reviews, but this is the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant, seriously.

We went to Toms for dinner. The service could be better; there was no menu offered. You have to read it yourself using a QR code. Happy hour is advertised until 6:00 PM, but it's only mentioned in passing that only jumbo drinks are included, which is a bit unfortunate. The food was good, hot, and tasty. The music is loud, but you can still have a conversation. The atmosphere is just okay.

Good evening, we had a reservation. The response: Actually, there's nothing available now. Eventually, a table was found. The server is new? No problem, we understand. The server spills a large amount of wheat beer all over my mother and several of our jackets. Okay, these things happen. No problem. Two drinks are brought, drinks for the other guests only arrive 15 minutes later after we ask. But: we don't want to be annoyed, we just want to have a nice evening. After 90 minutes, we finally get our main courses. Unfortunately, only three for four guests. After a few minutes, we politely inquire and only receive a curt: "Well, what is it?" in response. That was the end of the evening. No one asked what had happened to our wet clothes, no one apologized for the poor service. We have rarely seen such unmotivated and rude service staff. Absolutely not recommended! P.S. The food was okay. Unfortunately, there was no toilet paper in the restroom. And it's best not to look too closely at the seat cushions (stained and with holes).

We were there today with ten people. Unfortunately, we had to wait up to two hours for our food, sometimes even having to order multiple times. We had to order drinks ourselves after asking. The staff was completely overwhelmed, even though the place was already quite empty. Then we were served water three times, when we had only ordered it once. Other drinks were never brought to our table. On top of that, the ordering system is terrible. It's best to use the app or online, or go through the waitstaff. However, the Wi-Fi doesn't work. An absolute disaster. Some of the beers were also lukewarm. The burgers were only cooked through and therefore bone dry. Sorry. I haven't been here for years. Now I know why.

Nice eatery/bar. I liked the interior. One of the few places in Germany where only payment by card is accepted, which at least shows they don’t keep their revenue off the books. The food was a bit overpriced for Germany and I wouldn’t have expected it to have been prepared by Turkish people, but that actually doesn’t have to be a bad thing at all. What I missed in there was some actual rock music. It was there playing softly in the background, sure, but you can’t call your bar the “finest rock ‘n’ roll bar” and only have music playing that softly. The server was probably a nice guy, but didn’t seem happy to have to serve a customer. I’ll give him another chance to prove he’s a decent guy some other time, because I’ll definitely come back.

My partner and I visited this location because of the TV show "Mein Lokal, dein Lokal" (My Restaurant, Your Restaurant). The reality differed significantly from the show. The restaurant is set up in a rustic style, like an American bar. The first thing we noticed was the rather loud hard rock music. However, we could still have a conversation. The food was very good. The cocktails were mostly ice with very little drink. Perhaps they should reconsider that. I don't think we'll be visiting this place again.

We went to Tom on the Rocks on Sunday evening, and the place was busy. A really nice rocker café with a cozy outdoor area and a matching, rustic, dark interior – exactly what you'd want. The food was excellent! We had the beef rib platter three times – the ribs themselves were super tender and really tasty. Only the other cuts of meat on the platter (for about €32.90) could have been a little bit bigger. But otherwise, everything was perfect: good beer, good music, friendly service, and an all-around great atmosphere. Even the hot wings were delicious. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be back.

Service was poor. Some orders were incorrect and were not corrected even after being asked about them - "I'll bring it right away" - but nothing happened. Even orders that didn't make it to the table were charged. After asking for these to be removed from the bill, the rude reply was that it wasn't that easy and that the "small amount" could be paid with PayPal if necessary. In our opinion, this was more a matter of principle. The food itself was okay. The burgers, however, were so-so, as all of them had a very intense tomato sauce on them, which in our opinion had no place there. The burgers actually just tasted of this very tomatoey, almost sour sauce. Unfortunately, the visit was very unsatisfactory overall.

I ordered a burger without a pickle, and the pickle was still on the burger. The service was incompetent and slow. The focus on drinks is also lacking. Empty glasses remain empty until you say something. Complaining about a sauce being placed incorrectly on the board didn't really help, as the "correct" sauce never arrived. Ultimately, I'm annoyed that I went there.

I've actually tried all the dishes (but I'm sticking to my regular dish these days, as it's always perfect). Even during the coronavirus pandemic, the place is unbeatable. Although the bar isn't open at the moment, and of course you can only sit down, no matter. Plus, the staff are just nice, friendly, and charming. Unfortunately, it was really disappointing. We really like going to Toms. We love the music, the food, and the location. But unfortunately, we were very disappointed on Sunday (June 29, 2025). We arrived with our toddler around 5:30 p.m. A few tables were occupied outside. Of course, the heat made it empty inside. In the beer garden, maybe four tables were occupied. We were escorted outside. Forty minutes later, a customer finally came and asked for drinks. It was almost 30 degrees Celsius that day. We immediately ordered the meal we had already chosen because we were hungry and didn't want to waste any more time. We still wanted an appetizer, which at €19.50 isn't exactly cheap, and we wanted to eat it beforehand. Everything was taken. After our drinks finally arrived after another 15 minutes, they didn't reach our table, but rather an occupied table with three people whose glasses were still full. It can happen, but it was annoying. After we drew attention to ourselves, the drinks finally arrived in the heat. The appetizer didn't arrive more than an hour after ordering. My husband's empty glass was simply taken away without comment. There was no question about whether we wanted a new drink. After a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes, we got up, hungry and with a whining child, and paid for our drinks. The beer garden itself, of course, was getting busier, and the service staff were visibly overwhelmed, if you ever saw them. We simply wished someone had spoken to the guests. A simple "unfortunately, everything is taking much longer today because we're understaffed" would have been enough. But being ignored is simply not good manners. As already mentioned, we love the food and are happy to pay the necessary money for it, but this service was—sorry—a solid 6!

Very friendly service, and quick for a large group. The food was very good overall, and I heard nothing but positive things from my colleagues. My Texas skewer was unintentionally well-done, but the quality seemed high. Unfortunately, the heat in the garden behind the restaurant was almost unbearable. The plastic roof did the rest. If the problem could be resolved, I would fully recommend the ambiance (assuming you like the music), because even inside, I didn't notice any of the advertised air conditioning. The food and drink selection was very extensive.

I'd say it's both good and bad. The service was excellent, the burgers and drinks were very good, the nachos were okay. We sat outside because it was too warm and loud inside, but there were a terrible number of insects on the table outside, probably from the surrounding trees. And Ratingen's pedestrian zone isn't exactly a pretty sight either, with streets on both sides, so it's noisy, but that's not Tom's fault. Still, since the food was really good, we'd go back, but probably not when it's this hot.

We stumbled upon this bar/restaurant by chance, and we won't stop by just once. We live 25 minutes away and wanted to bring some food for ourselves and our children. The first impression from the outside was good – a cozy, quaint, covered, and pleasantly lit outdoor area. Then there was a quaint, rocking atmosphere inside. The staff was super friendly. We ordered and enjoyed a nice cold, draft Heineken. The food was fast, and the music was very pleasant. After a 25-minute drive home, the food was still warm and very tasty. It was well packaged in cardboard boxes. My husband and son had burgers and loved them. My daughter had tacos con pollo – also great. I had a bowl with chicken and sauces – very tasty. Everything was very appealing, very tasty, and we enjoyed it very much. We will definitely come back!

The burger was really delicious and well prepared, the curly fries were perfectly crispy. The service was also excellent. Everyone was very friendly, attentive and accommodating.

I recently had the opportunity to visit a bar and I have to say it was a really pleasant evening. The food was home-style and delicious – perfect for anyone who likes classic, hearty dishes. The prices are ok, which makes the whole thing even more attractive. The selection of drinks was varied, I particularly liked the cocktails and shots - freshly prepared and tasted great. The music was pleasant and created a relaxed atmosphere so that people could have a good conversation.

We ordered food using the new online function for a specific delivery time (6 p.m.). Unfortunately, the dishes weren't ready until 6:15 p.m., which is certainly not as bad. Unfortunately, payment is only made upon collection when the food is already at the front - there is certainly still potential for optimization here. Unfortunately, they tried to rip us off: we were charged around €78 online, but then we paid €89 on site, which we then complained about accordingly. After a bit of back and forth, we were told that the prices had been adjusted and that this had not yet been adjusted online. Afterwards there was no one in the restaurant who could make a decision, so the boss was called first - the phone call then lasted another few minutes until we were asked whether a voucher was OK - which we said yes. In total, the process took almost 15 minutes, so some of the food was cold when we got home. Overall, the two waiters seemed overwhelmed by any situation (with around 6-8 tables occupied). A no-go for us and after a few other difficulties with previous reservations that didn't work out (despite reservation confirmation), I will now think twice about eating there. The food and ambience are actually great, but good service is at least as relevant. The only drawback with the meal: the coleslaw used to be very good, but unfortunately it now tastes like nothing and is rather mushy.

Sorry but the waitress can't mix cocktails terribly. You can't say more (waiting time at least 30 minutes 💀). Ambience great but as already mentioned skills insufficient. After asking whether you could prepare a new cocktail, the answer came: “All right, I’ll go have a quick smoke and then I’ll do that.” Not recommended, there are much better alternatives in Ratingen, such as the Irish Pub.

If you just want a drink, this is the place for you (not the rhubarb spritzer and you should expect glasses) The staff walks around the store haphazardly, despite a reservation, they were looking for a table where there wasn't enough space to eat. The order was only taken after 30 minutes, even though people drew attention to themselves. The food arrived after a long wait (40 minutes), even though the store was not full. There wasn't any cutlery available at the time and when we got it, it was dirty and there weren't enough forks for three people. The taste of the food was far below the usual standard, nothing special and the burgers did not correspond to the description (different vegetables and sauces than stated). Unfortunately, hygiene/cleanliness is different because, among other things, the toilet is not clean/broken and there is a hodgepodge of chewing gum under the tables. Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio is no longer right here.

We were there on Saturday. We didn't have a reservation and they very kindly gave us a table. The waiters were friendly and helpful. When we arrived the place was not very full, that's why I don't understand such a delay in service. The big drawback was the enormous wait. It took an hour and a quarter to serve us three hamburgers with fries, we had to wait with a 7-year-old girl.

The drinks are always less full than the calibration line assumes. The drinks and food are available for collection for a very long time and are warm or cold... In my opinion, the waiters don't have a system at work. No fixed areas, but walking around the store seemingly aimlessly and working on what they see. It's a shame that the quality and service are falling even though the prices are rising.

Eating and drinking at Tom's with 12 boys on December 7th, 2024. The service was totally subpar, food waited 1 ½ hours. Some of the boys were able to eat while others had to wait another 20 minutes. The food we ordered was completely forgotten. Despite complaining to no less than three waiters who discussed it, they decided to put it in the cash register and hand it out in the kitchen. Someone in the restaurant was happy, but nothing arrived at our table. In the end it was about the payment. There was no collective bill, everyone paid their own and yet there were food and drinks open in the till that didn't belong to any of us. Yes, unfortunately some items are booked twice when you order from a waiter, the second one only brings you half the price. On If you ask if something is still missing, the second person simply pipes it in again. Definitely not a model staff and all 12 of us left the store in a bad mood. Was the last visit to Tom's. Oh well... Ratingen is small, so bad performance gets around. Too bad

Disaster. Service two young guys, no blame but you can't put something like that in the store alone. I was noticed but skillfully ignored, so I went to the bar myself and ordered my food and two drinks straight away because I knew that I wouldn't be asked on my own. The store was dead, the other few tables were also eloquently ignored, whether to request further drinks or pay. Food wait forever. Ribs cold and tasteless. Never worth 18 euros in my life. Payment only by card, which doesn't bother me, but take the tip query out until your staff is capable, trained and trained. I come from the industry and have seen several hygiene violations with my own eyes. It's also extremely cold in the shed, you're almost forced to keep your jacket on. Unfortunately, Ratingen has little to offer in terms of culinary delights, but you can sometimes simply save yourself the trouble here. If even the simplest cuisine is “screwed up”…then cheers meal. Everyone who rates the shop well has no culinary horizons. POINT

We were there with 12 people and were given the dart room we wanted upon request. The shop was packed and the service team told us to order large drinks immediately after greeting us, otherwise we might have to wait longer 😳. We then ordered food, chaotically and the same way the food came, even after 1 1/4 hours spread over half an hour, everyone got their food one by one. However, we were still missing an appetizer. The staff made a big deal out of it, other employees kept coming to discuss things, it was about an appetizer worth €7.80, but the team made a big deal of it, discussing it with us endlessly without even a hint of insight. It remains to be noted, nice shop, delicious food when there is nothing going on and you are not a guest with more than 4 people! It goes without saying that the final bill was incomprehensible to us, paid and quickly gone and not back again so quickly! A few customers less - but the operators don't seem to care, everyone is probably doing too well after all🙄 There are better alternatives in Ratingen!

What happened to the rock pub? There's bad chart music playing here and even worse... Modern Talking! Was really intimidating. Then we just drank our drink and quickly went somewhere else. Gin and tonic was moderately tasty. Cocktails wrong and very watered down. Service took a long time and took a long time. At least the service staff were all friendly. Let's not go there anymore if it stays like this.

I'm really surprised where so many good reviews come from. We were absolutely disappointed. We had a table at 6 p.m. and waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for our food (4x burgers with fries). We had to ask several times because even people who came after us and ordered later received their food before us. Apparently the oven was broken and it would therefore take longer than usual - strange that other tables received their food... After the wait there were cold fries and a burger soaked in sauce. Absolutely overwhelmed staff and ability to handle such situations. We definitely won't come again and I can't recommend this store with the best will in the world.

Today I was in Ratingen taking photos of dishes at Toms on the Rocks. A cool interior creates a special atmosphere. The kitchen team rocks the preparation of food wonderfully. Friendly service and very tasty food. Finally I tried the spare ribs, great! Well cooked, the meat falls off the bone, very tasty. A very clear recommendation!

Von aussen eher unscheinbar aber dafür innen richtig schön, weitläufig, super Musikauswahl. Die Kellner waren alle sehr aufmerksam und unterhaltsam. Das Essen war frisch und sehr lecker; gut gewürzt. Die Getränke sind dem Preis entsprechend gut. Die Happy Hour sollte man nutzen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

It is a place we always go to and enjoy. However, yesterday we went and ordered our drinks. While we were waiting for our drinks, loud construction noises started coming from inside. When I asked what these noises were and if they would continue, they told me that there are renovations going on inside and the noise would continue. So we decided to leave and got up. Meantime, the waitress came with an apple juice that we had ordered. We said, "Let's pay for it if we have to, but we don't want to sit here with this noise." At that point, the other person standing at the bar started aggressively saying, "You have to pay for it, you ordered it, we brought it..." We told him that the problem was not caused by us, that we did not want construction noise in an environment where we would sit calmly, eat and chat, that we got up because of this, and that we would pay if they still wanted the apple juice they brought, no problem. "Of course you will pay, the problem is not with us, we are doing renovations, if you are uncomfortable, you can sit outside", he responded with an rude style. We paid for the apple juice we did not drink and left. I would recommend that you write that there are renovations inside somewhere at the entrance or at least indicate it before we sit down. (The stars I gave for food and Atmospher are about our previous experiences.)
