The service was good, very attentive. Unfortunately, the food was not good. The schnitzel couldn't be called a schnitzel; it was more breading than schnitzel, and very dry. I've never eaten such a bad schnitzel.

It's a shame, there was so much more potential. The brewery boasts a pleasant atmosphere, characterized by a successful combination of traditional brewery ambiance and tasteful modern touches. This makes the dining room both cozy and exciting. We visited in winter, but if the outdoor seating area on the market square can also be used in summer, this will undoubtedly be a place to enjoy a meal in a unique setting with a special flair that should add valuable charm to the establishment. From arrival to departure, the service was attentive and friendly, although, as described below, the service lacked a certain polish. As one would expect in a brewery, the drinks menu features a selection of interesting beers. It is characterized by a still pleasantly manageable variety of brands and types. A daily specials menu also highlights beer specialties, about which the staff are well-versed. The menu is typical of a brewery pub and is dominated by hearty dishes, though those who prefer lighter or plant-based options will also find something to their liking. While the pork knuckle lived up to all expectations during our visit, the classic "Schnitzel Wiener Art," which is usually hard to mess up, proved to be a disappointment. Served with delicious brewery fries, a sour cream sauce, and lingonberries, it should have been a tasty meal to accompany a uniquely brewed beer. Unfortunately, no chef in the kitchen had bothered to pound, season, and bread any piece of meat. It appeared that convenience food had been heated up, which explains the thickness and shape, the breading, the bland taste, and the dryness of the dish. That alone costs it at least one star in the rating. I shared this observation and experience with the staff, whose response was professional and appropriate: "I'll pass it on." Unfortunately, that was the end of it. When we went to pay, another employee came and presented the bill. He was also very polite, but again offered no feedback regarding the issue we had raised. Regardless of the response, ignoring and leaving a guest's concern unanswered is unacceptable in the restaurant and hospitality industry. It's a shame; this costs at least another star. Ultimately, the Bürgerhaus in Ratingen is an exciting and original restaurant with great potential, but unfortunately, it has some glaring weaknesses in key areas.

Friendly service, but it was quite loud and the schnitzel was nothing special. Very crispy, more breading than meat, which wasn't of high quality. The restrooms were decent. In short: I don't need to go back.

Unfortunately, the salad was brown. No one reacted to this when I pointed it out. With the Kaiserschmarrn, I was offered lumps of powdered sugar. We won't be coming back.

Amazing experience at Burgerhaus Ratingen! The food was excellent—authentic German cuisine with very tasty flavors and generous portions. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and satisfying. It was our first night in Ratingen, and this restaurant gave us a great start to our visit. Special thanks to our waiter, who kindly translated the menu for us and helped us choose our meals. His recommendations were spot on and made the experience even better. Friendly service, great food, and a warm atmosphere—highly recommended!

This was our first time at the Bürgerhaus Ratingen, and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was consistently delicious, freshly prepared, and generously portioned. What we particularly appreciated was the honest, straightforward cuisine that simply tasted great. The beer was perfectly poured and tasted fantastic. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. A solid restaurant with good food and excellent beer. We'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately, the service staff is unfriendly to children. A real shame.

We had carrot vegetables and kale with smoked sausage from the lunch menu - very tasty & large portions.

Today was our first time at the Bürgerhaus. We had a reservation for four people and a dog. The water bowl for our dog was already waiting for us – fantastic! The service was incredibly friendly and quick, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. We'll definitely be back! So, the Bürgerhaus has now become our regular restaurant. We've been there so many times, including last night, and we've never been disappointed. The food was absolutely superb again, and the service, as always, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The owner can be proud of such wonderful people! We always love coming back – thumbs up!!!

The staff initially embarrasses customers by accusing them of not greeting them upon entry; the food is nothing special, presumably pre-cooked and reheated; the staff is inattentive and incompetent; and lengthy arguments with customers ensue. Definitely not recommended.

We were very disappointed by the so-called service, who stood at the counter playing on their phones. They also told us at 9:00 PM that they no longer had hot food. After referring us to the restaurant's website, which clearly states "Kitchen open until 9:30 PM," we were given reheated food. All in all, a terrible experience; I would not recommend this restaurant.

I really enjoy going to the Bürgerhaus (community center). The service is always friendly and courteous. We were always very impressed with the food. Unfortunately, that's changed: our herring today was oily, the boiled potatoes had too much fat for my taste, and they were also a bit overcooked. We weren't particularly happy with our currywurst and the Wirtshaussalat on our last visit either. We really want to come back, but we're already a bit hesitant. Please, please cook as deliciously as you used to!

Rating for Wiener Schnitzel Original and Wiener Schnitzel Style. The Wiener Schnitzel Style was very thin, more breading than meat, the breading pressed down, no ripples, and no buttery taste. It looked like it had been thrown from the discount store freezer into the deep fryer. I've had much better food there before. 2 stars this time. I've since eaten Wiener Schnitzel Style here again and noticed the following: The schnitzel tasted decent, but I've never experienced a situation where the breading couldn't be removed from the meat, even with a knife, as if it were fused to the meat. That's not Wiener style. Therefore, again, a maximum of two stars. I won't eat it in the future, but will order the original Wiener Schnitzel. Wiener Veal Schnitzel Style: It's not original, if only because of the lack of decoration. That's okay. The meat tasted good, significantly thicker than expected. The breading had a few bubbles and was drizzled with butter. The schnitzel tasted good and was tender. The meat was frayed. If you remove the breading, you can see a tight, uniform pattern of punctures. This naturally makes any meat tender, but the juices ooze out. And that's how it was. Still, 4 stars. Service was very friendly and attentive. 5 stars.

We visited the Bürgerhaus twice on Saturday evenings. We thoroughly enjoyed it. A great terrace right in the middle of the market square, attentive and friendly service, and delicious food with excellent value for money. For dessert, I had the Kaiserschmarrn, served with plums AND fresh strawberries – delicious. Keep up the good work!

A cozy spot on the market square. The food is excellent and the beer selection is fantastic. Actually, the best selection I've seen in Ratingen. You can tell the staff are friendly with each other. No matter how busy it is, there's always time for a chat with the guests. You're always warmly welcomed (as if you've known each other for years). A place with a lot of heart.

What a wonderful evening. Perfect food, wonderful ambiance, and first-class service. Friendly, witty, and cheerful staff leave you feeling good and satisfied. When the food is perfect, what more could you ask for? The white wine could have been a bit colder, but that was really secondary. I highly recommend it.

Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Even though I explicitly stated that I wanted to take my food to go and asked for it to be wrapped, they didn't do it. I didn't receive an apology for this either. It's a real shame.

Unfortunately, it wasn't as usual. We had to wait 40 minutes for our food because the waitress forgot to call the kitchen! Then the food arrived, and the potatoes were burnt and inedible! The ashtray wasn't emptied either. It's a shame we won't be coming here again!

Went there today with the family, and as always, the service was friendly and competent. For lunch, we had a delicious Leberkäse burger with fries, croutons with salad, and a salad plate with fried chicken. We had nothing to complain about; the price/performance ratio was still good, and of course, we also had a delicious Ratuga Altbier.

Whether it's music or comedy, a cozy meal, or simply a beer in the evening, it's all possible here. In summer, you can sit comfortably on the historic market square and enjoy the weather.

The first time in Ratingen and in the community center - what luck. Great location in the city center, beautiful building, great ambience…. Super rustic and cozy, especially when it gets fuller and livelier. Had the wild mushroom ragout with Brussels sprouts, napkin dumplings and separately the Atlbier bratwurst from the starter menu - simply delicious. The kitchen knows what it's doing! Delicious Ratuga Altbier on tap. Service was quick and extremely nice and friendly😀.

The service was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately there is hardly any music or atmosphere for Christmas. The food was very tasty, but the goose and schnitzel were a bit dry. All in all, however, recommended.

“Accidental find” and still got three seats at the counter despite “FullHouse”. Super friendly staff and really good cuisine. Currywurst as a starter? IT WAS... and it was super tasty. But also the kale with Kassler and Mettwurst. Yes and the delicious beer, absolutely excellent. Anyone who doesn't stop here has definitely missed something.

Recommended for friends of very hearty German cuisine who like to eat salty and pickled food and also like a sweet and sour salad. The short menu has seasonal dishes, including game and cabbage. There is a local beer that I didn't try.

The food is good, but unfortunately that's where it ends. The “boss” of the restaurant is very unprofessional and this is also reflected in the waitress. The prices are okay. Unfortunately, just good food is not enough. Too bad we won't come back. But fortunately there are many other good restaurants in Ratingen.

Delicious, exclusive beer from our own brewery, solid, high-quality food in a historic town house from the late Middle Ages in the heart of the city - what more could you want? Beer garden on the market square and: Ratingen's old town is always worth a visit! My advice; Hratuga cellar beer. The Altbier currywurst is also recommended.

Very pleasant location in the middle of Ratingen. The staff is very friendly and the prices are humane. The food is really tasty and the portions are sufficient. The beer garden is well attended and also well placed. I would love to come here again. Side note: They don't like to move the parasols on their own (which is understandable) - here's our apology for this!😉

On Thursday evening, at Fortuna's relegation game, you will be pampered and you will have to order and pay for your beer downstairs because it is not available upstairs. The food came, you asked for the mayo, you were fussed over again, now the waiter had to run up and down again just for the mayo and pushed the mayo into the hand of a stranger who brought it up....btw the mayo looked really rancid from....Yesterday evening, you're sitting on the stairs outside because there's no table available, you're not being served, you're supposed to go in and order at the counter, you're being accosted at the counter, again, if you're sitting outside you should wait until they do The waitress comes and it's your turn.... is that still possible???....

Schnitzel Wiener Art: Fleisch war gut, gut paniert und gebraten, Kartoffelsalat zu wenig Salz und Pfeffer,zu senflastig, zu sauer. Kartoffeln zu ungleichmäßig, teils viel zu grob geschnitten. Caesar Salat hatte leider sehr wenig mit seinem Namen zu tun. Service war freundlich.
