I had a very disappointing experience about two months ago at Tokyo Restaurant with three friends. After ordering several sushi plates, drinks, a bottle of wine, and some water, it was time to pay the bill. I had calculated the total to be around €180, but the waitress told us it was €220 — a big difference. One of my friends, annoyed, asked for the itemized receipt. To our surprise, the bill included items we never ordered: an extra sushi plate, a carpaccio, and two glasses of rosé wine. When we pointed this out, there was no proper apology — the waitress disappeared into the kitchen, and another staff member tried to avoid explaining the mistake. They did refund the extra amount, but the experience left a very bad impression. I even asked for the tip I had given them back. Very disappointing service — they will definitely not see us again.

I'm actually a huge fan of Tokio and have been eating there regularly for at least 20 years. Today, however, I was very disappointed because the portion was extremely small compared to the last few times. When I asked about it, they justified it by referring to the base price of the product, which isn't stated on the menu. After my "complaint," the friendliness vanished. I found that very unfortunate.

I have to say, I'm extremely disappointed. We ordered sushi for a birthday party today for over €110. Honestly, it was beyond embarrassing...the sushi portions weren't prepared properly at all, and the cuts were poor. Almost everything fell apart. It looked as if my 12-year-old daughter had made the sushi herself. Absolutely ridiculous for the quantity and price. Never again. The taste wasn't exactly a culinary highlight either.

The serving dish had stains. There was a fly in the soy sauce. The quality of the sushi has also declined considerably. When you go to a restaurant in this price range, you can expect appropriate service. Unfortunately, it's just more show than substance...

I would advise anyone with allergies not to visit the restaurant! There were significant gaps and errors in the menu's labeling. Reading the menu regarding allergens, I became a bit skeptical. The majority of the sushi options are labeled as containing gluten/wheat, but not all of them. If it's the vinegar in the rice, then it must all be... So I decided to stick to the appetizers instead. Here, I ordered two dishes that weren't labeled as containing gluten/wheat. When the dishes arrived, I was confused by the appearance, as they looked very much like dough made from wheat flour, rather than rice flour or something similar. Upon asking, this suspicion was confirmed. The waiter seemed rather annoyed that I couldn't eat the dish. At least I wasn't charged for it in the end, but there wasn't a single word or sign of apology. So I left the restaurant hungry. My husband's meal was mediocre, but nothing special. Everything wasn't particularly nicely presented and the spring rolls looked more like they came from the frozen food section of the local supermarket.

First time eating here (Q5) and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly service, nice and cozy atmosphere, and delicious sushi. There is a huge selection of standard sushi rolls and combinations, with lunch menus that combine rolls, nigiri, spicy vs. non-spicy, different kinds of fish, etc. If you ask me, there were too many options! There are different dons and sashimi options too. Anyway, it was an all-around good time.

Not recommended!!! We waited 2 hours for our food, we were the first to sit in the restaurant and everyone else was allowed to order first and eaten first. I asked the staff about it several times and they were still rude and didn't even apologize. I'll never eat there again!!!!!!

It's been the best sushi restaurant I've known for years. And I've actually tried quite a few, including abroad. The ingredients are not only fresh, but of good quality, which is not cheap. The atmosphere is inviting, with a rather unspectacular terrace in the backyard in summer. For me it was a complete pleasure and my absolute recommendation.

It's a shame, the sushi shop used to be really good. The new location is nice, the sushi has always been very good for decades, but what use is it when - to put it bluntly - the prices have now doubled, the portions have halved and the service has been zero.

An evening at the Tokio restaurant in Mannheim Yesterday evening we visited the Tokio restaurant in Quadrat Q4 in Mannheim and had a really nice evening. The food was of excellent quality and offered an impressive taste experience. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly atmosphere of the house, which immediately invites you to linger. The service was not only attentive, but also extremely courteous and contributed significantly to our well-being. We felt well looked after and that helped make our visit a successful experience. Overall, we can only recommend the Tokio restaurant and are already looking forward to our next visit!

We found this restaurant spontaneously because we wanted to have sushi for lunch near our hotel and it was a real stroke of luck. The lunch menu was incredibly tasty and comparatively very cheap. We thought it was so good that we made a reservation for dinner, which was really good. If you want to eat delicious sushi in Mannheim, you should definitely come here.

Der Sushikoch hinter der Theke , hat mich mit einer freundlichem Geste gebeten, als ich ihm sagte das ich alleine bin , Platz zu nehmen an der Sushi Theke ! Ich habe 20 - 30.Minuten gewartet das eine Bedienung kommt und wenigstens schon Mal ein Getränk aufnimmt ! Fehlanzeige es kam keiner ! Ich musste mir selber eine Karte vom Tisch holen ! Die Preise sind für mich persönlich übertrieben teuer ! Egal ob Sushi ,Sashimi, Rolls etc.., die überteuerten Preise sind nicht gerechtfertigt! Da keiner von den Bedienung mehr kam , gut es war 20:30 oder 20:45 Uhr als ich die Sushi Bar betrat , bin ich wieder aufgestanden und gegangen! Was soll das ??? Die Qualität des Sushis etc kann ich nicht beurteilen da ich nix gegessen habe !Ich komme bestimmt nicht wieder ..! Gibt besser und preiswertere Sushi Bars in Mannheim!

We've known the restaurant for 20 years but haven't been there in recent years. Today's visit was really disappointing, the quality has deteriorated a lot and the portions have shrunk by half. Miso soup is served the size of a teacup and sushi is no longer of the same quality as it used to be, and the sushi has become super small. It's a shame when you pay so much money and go home dissatisfied.

The price-performance ratio is quite okay. The staff is extremely courteous and friendly. We got our food very quickly. The homemade teriyaki sauce in particular can't be beat. The only negative would be the lighting, which is quite bright. But that's not a bad thing. Otherwise everything was great!
