Cozy, small restaurant on Elisabethplatz. In summer, you can sit on large wooden benches in the middle of the "Elli" square, practically "in the green." The menu offers solid home-style cooking, some of which has Silesian roots. The quality speaks for itself, and the portions are generous. The Silesian beer roast, among others, is highly recommended. Prices are mid-range, neither particularly cheap nor overpriced. The friendly and prompt service also leaves nothing to be desired. We'd be happy to return.

We received a very warm welcome and were seated quickly. We have a small dog with us, and it wasn't a problem bringing our dog into the restaurant; we even felt like the dog was truly welcome. The drinks were served immediately, and the food arrived very quickly. It was very, very tasty. Good Saxon cuisine, exactly what we expected and were looking for in Görlitz. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Five of us arrived for lunch a little before the official opening time and were greeted very warmly and professionally. The restaurant is incredibly beautiful and decorated with attention to detail. The food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. The waitress even offered to take a group photo when she saw us trying to take a selfie. This restaurant is an absolute insider tip, and we'll definitely eat here again on our next visit to Görlitz.

We (three of us: mom, dad, and son) from Berlin for a short four-day trip were there and went back for the two following evenings after the first one. 😋😊❣️It's super cozy, the landlady and service are fantastic. Please make a reservation if possible - it's not that big, but when the weather's nice, they also have a beer garden. 🍻 Simply fantastic, delicious food, and not expensive at all! We'll definitely be back.❣️❣️❣️

Very friendly staff. The food was very hearty. Unfortunately, the Aperol was bad; the Prosecco was missing and not cold. The beer is better.

The food was very good, and the service was friendly. A special highlight are the restrooms with their morbid charm: in the women's restroom, there's a rope hanging from each urinal, and in the men's restroom, a guillotine hangs above each urinal. Simply fantastic, truly unique!

Basically, the bad review only happens because Google says the store is open until midnight. If you show up shortly after 9 p.m., you're told it's already closed. Just change your opening hours on Google...yes, it works!

Five of us went there for dinner on Sunday, including our child. The waitress was very friendly and the food was delicious. They even adapted the menu for our little one. 😊 Definitely recommend it if you want to eat in Görlitz.

Unfortunately, the steak au four wasn't that great in terms of taste. It was pretty overcooked and tasted so-so. Luckily, they served it with Worcestershire sauce, which improved its flavor. The goulash with red cabbage and dumplings, on the other hand, was better.

Today we were a few minutes early and politely asked if we could sit down. Were immediately insulted by the unfriendly blonde, which was wiped down. What can I say... Then you should close the door. Put up a sign that has been wiped or there is a risk of slipping and possibly consider changing jobs. And were left standing. It doesn't work at all. We then went to a restaurant that was friendlier. Just bad for business.

We were there on Wednesday evening and unfortunately couldn't get a table. It was packed ☺️ Then we tried again on Thursday right when it opened and we were lucky. Incredibly delicious food, very generous portions, very friendly and attentive service, and a great atmosphere. We're glad we got a table there and would eat there again anytime.

We ate at the restaurant at short notice today without a reservation. Friendly staff, plenty of food and delicious home cooking. We would be happy to come back for dinner. The restaurant is very rustically furnished and has a strange toilet facility.

The review has been changed; you will not be accepted for payment with a bank card from another EU country other than a German bank. Initial review: Quiet, pleasant and atmospheric place, large and tasty dishes. But there is one thing that spoils everything: it is not the acceptance of foreign bank cards; for foreigners only cash. And this moment leaves a big aftertaste and the question arises: isn’t this fact discrimination based on nationality? I am not satisfied with your answer, you are a liar, I checked with my companions with whom I visited your restaurant. And it seems that when asked about paying for the order with a bank card, your employee (a man) answered that he only accepts cards from German banks, when specifying a card from a Polish bank. He indicated the exact address of the ATM. Now I demand change. I am considering filing a complaint against your establishment. And precisely on the basis of discrimination, on national grounds.

It was our first time at the inn in the old town. A pub that lives up to its name. The greeting was warm and funny. Service, food and drinks were great. There's nothing to complain about there. There was a bit of humor for free. If you don't feel comfortable here, you should go somewhere where you eat with your hands. We will come back.

This time we were very positively surprised, we were there about 1.5 years ago and were deeply disappointed, the glass of lemonade was (accidentally) spilled over the table, the meat was extremely dry and lukewarm.....we didn't want to go there anymore, but we gave the inn a second chance and we weren't disappointed, the food was very good, the service was simply brilliant, close to the customer, very friendly and also funny, we will definitely be back.....keep it up!!!

The Wirtshaus Zur Altstadt is on Elisabethstr. 16, located in 02826 Görlitz. In this respect, this is a very good location. The atmosphere there is very pleasant and the ambience is also very nice. Incidentally, on my last visit I only saw nice guests. This meant I was able to maintain good social contacts. I drank good beers here and ate a sauerbraten. Both were very delicious. Great little home-style restaurant in the old town. Easy to reach on foot as it is centrally located and has free parking spaces in front of the door on the street. The price-performance ratio was simply great as it tasted excellent and the portions were also generous. This was rounded off by the very good service, as the waitress gave us a lot of information and was very communicative. As a treat, there are also scary and funny designed toilets (guillotine and gallows). All in all, highly recommended.

Update 09/2024: Nothing negative has changed. Everything is still fine. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly and accommodating. Still recommended. Guess it's better to make reservations on Fridays and Saturdays. Very quaint and cozy restaurant. The name Wirtshaus is very appropriate.👌 The food was great and plentiful and the service was very good. Prices are absolutely fine. You can't complain about that. We'll definitely stop by again when we're back in town.

We, a group of 7 people, ate here twice before New Year's Eve 2024 and were totally thrilled. Super nice service, attentive, funny and quick. We had seven different meals and were able to eat and drink at the same time. Our further wishes were carefully asked. We can only recommend the delicious food and the beautiful ambience. Thank you very much for that and we will definitely come back when we Berliners are in Görlitz again.

Table reservation (via email) worked. Sauerbraten test was rather unsuccessful, dry, little if at all pickled meat, dumplings floury and sticky, salad side dish very simple... After exactly an hour of existence (we didn't want to order anything else) we were told that the table was urgently needed. We chose the restaurant because of the good reviews, but it didn't meet our expectations.

Food very tasty. All my friends praised it, a demanding friend said the mushroom and meat sauce was a bit too cold, but I had the same thing so it was very warm. Maybe he likes it hot and scalding. The high level has not changed for years. Nice, professional and stylish service. Stained glass windows emphasize the atmosphere of the Old Town. The historic decor evokes a church atmosphere.

This inn is small and cozy. We hadn't made a reservation and got the last table, which turned out to be a stroke of luck. We sat behind a room divider and had a lovely time there. The service was very friendly and advised us on the choice of dishes. We weren't disappointed, both beer meat and sauerbraten were delicious and the portion was just right. The beer was also a great recommendation. Due to the lack of bars in Görlitz, we went back and played cards and had something to drink. The toilets are also very funny 😉 Thumbs up for this place.

First of all: unbeatable service (chef)! A really likeable man from Görlitz, with whom we got along really well and laughed the whole evening. You rarely experience something like that. Thanks for the lovely Wednesday evening! Restaurant is a little bit away from the market and the more touristy restaurants, which is why we were there. The ambience is simply great, not far away, but cozier, more authentic. The food was very good, and of course the beer was special. We recommend it with the best of conscience and hope to have a good time there again the next time we visit Görlitz! Thanks! ♡

After a quick registration, we set up with a larger group. As soon as we arrived, a very friendly and, above all, funny employee was there very quickly. (We sat outside.) Here you can tell from the start that someone is having fun, providing great service and not just doing a job. When you look at the menu you notice that the prices are not through the roof like elsewhere and that there is a reasonable selection. All the dishes came at the same time or one after the other (people only have two arms). The taste was absolutely great!! Thanks to the staff, the entire stay was an absolute experience and tasted excellent. As already mentioned, it didn't hurt in terms of price, although it wasn't just the main course and drink. Clear recommendation and we will be back!
