We ate there on Sunday as a group of four and we all enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere is very appealing, the service very friendly, and the food was really good. There was a slight issue with my burger regarding the degree of doneness, but that can happen and was resolved immediately and professionally. We had a lovely evening; thank you again!

Five rather discerning women thoroughly enjoyed their evening at Mine. We will definitely return, as the excellent service, the cozy atmosphere, and the fantastic food won us over.

Excellent food selection, very friendly staff despite the extreme stress on a Sunday at 10:00 a.m. It was packed, very loud, and the buffet flow was not efficient (bread and butter were hard to reach). It was great that new, truly different, plates were constantly being restocked. The hot food and desserts were also very good! The only downside was the coffee: There are thermos flasks on the tables, no hot milk, cappuccino, or anything similar. Summary: I'd gladly go back!

We celebrated our wedding in this wonderful restaurant with 20 people and couldn't have imagined a better place! 💍✨ The food was fantastic – Mediterranean, fresh, and prepared with love. The portions were generous, and every guest, whether they were into traditional, vegan, or vegetarian food, was delighted. The venue itself is modern, cozy, yet wonderfully rustic – full of the charm of the Ruhr region. Special praise goes to the incredibly attentive staff: always friendly, accommodating, and open to all our special requests, even with the decor and background music. You can tell that they put their heart and soul into their work. ❤️ This became clear, especially when it came to our four-legged guests! ❤️🐶 We felt completely at home and would definitely come back – whether for dinner or perhaps for our next big event!

Service isn't a priority here. This review is just as poor. We walked in, looked for a table. An employee showed us a table and said someone would be right there. We sat at the table and waited. Unfortunately, within 10 minutes, there was still no waiter in sight. Instead, new guests arrived from outside. In addition, communication with the employees was rather unfriendly. Brunch buffet at its finest. A warm welcome from Louis set the stage for an indulgent culinary feast in a stylish setting. Nothing was lacking. Tasteful and lovingly prepared dishes and a selection of drinks represented excellent value for money. We felt completely at home and can wholeheartedly recommend our stay.

The extensive buffet, the ambiance, and the service—everything was top-notch! Everything tasted as if it were freshly prepared. It's probably freshly prepared, too. €35 for a buffet with cold and hot platters, a wide selection of desserts, and all drinks (including wine and beer) is unbeatable value for money. I went with a reservation, which I would recommend. When I visited, all the tables were occupied.

Disappointing despite high standards Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with the words, "We're full. If you don't have a reservation, you'll have to leave." Without even a "Good evening" or a friendly welcome, we did. We had a reservation and were escorted to our table. The atmosphere in the dining room was more reminiscent of a company cafeteria—the high noise level made quiet conversation almost impossible. Our order was taken promptly, and the server was friendly, but that was unfortunately one of the few positive aspects. The restrooms appear to be shared with an event hall. The men's restroom, at least, was in very questionable condition: Even before opening the door, a distinct odor of urine was noticeable, and the cleanliness left much to be desired. At first glance, the restaurant gives the impression of fine dining, but doesn't live up to this standard in either the quality of the food or its preparation. The cheapest ingredients are used here – canned mushrooms and convenience sauces are simply inappropriate in this price range. The beef was overcooked, the roasted vegetables were partially burnt, and the appetizer plate was rather meager, with only four slices of bread. Added to that, there was a very long wait for the food. Conclusion: Despite its appealing appearance and friendly service, this restaurant is not worth the money. Those who value quality and fresh ingredients should skip the visit.

Beautiful location with a view of the winding tower. My wife was served a tea with fresh mint, unfortunately including a slug—okay, it happens. However, we found it quite odd that there was no apology at all. So, the location was great, the service was terrible. We won't be going there again...

Went there spontaneously today and I must admit I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was pretty good and the staff very friendly.

Very delicious food, and the portions are also generous. We've been there several times and tried different platters (The Mine Plate, Fish Plate, Cheese Plate, and tapas combinations). Everything was delicious. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with quiet little corners. The prices are super reasonable! Definitely recommended!😋

I celebrated my birthday at the event venue The Mine in Essen and was very pleased, as were my guests. The ambiance is stylish and inviting, the food excellent, and the service attentive and warm. I would especially like to mention the event manager, who organized everything perfectly from the planning stage to the evening itself and oversaw it with great friendliness. A venue I highly recommend. You can tell that great attention to detail is paid to the work here. Many thanks to the entire team at The Mine for this fantastic experience!

After a long day full of exciting impressions from the mine, the stay here was quite relaxing. Unfortunately, the service was rather curt when answering questions (perhaps because a wedding party was being hosted at the same time, or because the staff still needed to be trained?) In any case, the meal ended up being surprisingly more expensive than originally stated on the menu, as, for example, the ketchup with the fries was charged extra, which we hadn't realized beforehand. The food and drinks were of good quality, and the ambiance made up for it.

Disappointing - very average towards bad food for a 1.5 hr wait. No one spoke a word of English despite it being a world heritage site. We had the event space rented, however, there were other people coming to test the sound and light system which we found quite unprofessional and distracting. Do not visit!

We were hungry and glad the restaurant was still open. The staff were very friendly, and I really wanted to eat there. I ordered a schnitzel... unfortunately, it was the worst schnitzel I've ever eaten. It was fried to death, and one thing's for sure... the chef hates his job. Hey guys... you don't treat guests like that. It was an absolute disgrace to serve a guest such a meal. I would have preferred to give it zero stars, but at least the Alsterwasser was cold and tasty.

I won't say anything about the cuisine, as we came to warm up with drinks and hide from the rain after visiting the museum (which I recommend you visit). The staff is friendly, they quickly found us a more comfortable table for our company (about 10 people). The order was taken and served quickly enough. The interior of the establishment is quite interesting, although there was a feeling that something was missing, but this is my personal impression.

We spontaneously stopped by the mine and had a fantastic time. The food (burgers and pasta with shrimp) was absolutely delicious. A particular highlight was our waiter, Benni! He was a super-funny guy who made our stay twice as enjoyable!

I chose this location for a birthday surprise, something I would definitely do again. There was good communication via email beforehand regarding the process and pre-ordering the dishes. On the day itself, everything went smoothly, and we were able to enjoy a lovely evening with a good number of people. The service was very good and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant with its view.

After a long walk, we landed back at "The Mine," simply our favorite restaurant/beer garden! 😍 Cold beer, delicious food, sunshine on your face, and an all-around great atmosphere. It's exactly how it should be. The service is incredibly friendly; you immediately feel welcome. Especially Benni, always up for a joke or a quick chat, with his sense of humor, a real gem. The rest of the team is also incredibly welcoming. And the food? Absolutely: high praise, it tastes amazing every time! 👌 Not only are the tapas incredibly delicious, but everything. Dear Sir or Madam, After our tour of the mine, we felt a slight hint of hunger and looked for a restaurant nearby. Since this restaurant was the only one open and thus had crossed our path, the choice was quite easy when we spotted a lemon-yellow table. The main course, consisting of handmade tagliatelle pasta, a warm chili sauce, and the finest grated Parmesan, had won my heart. My sweetheart's dish was excellent, but needed a light touch of salt to fully unfold its flavor. The atmosphere of the exclusive restaurant was more than satisfying and romantic, with candles placed on the tables. Upon request, the waiter, Benni, lit our table candle and even played romantic music to make our evening even more romantic. With his musical expertise, he chose the song "Greek Wine," which perfectly suited the mood and brought a smile to our faces. The portions were tailored to both men and women and were filling. The prices were also well-priced for the portions; the only criticism was that the water was a bit more expensive. As a passionate restaurant-goer and food enthusiast, it was a delicious experience that I highly recommend. Special thanks to Benni, who guided us through the evening with his humorous approach.

Nice to sit outside and enjoy a drink and food. Tapas was good, the salat however was a bit to basic and the dressing didnt taste so good. The schnitzel was also okay, but not outstanding. I recommend eating Tapas.

After a visit to Zollverein, we spontaneously visited the restaurant "The Mine" for lunch, a cool location, right in the cultural heritage area. We opted for the tapas, highly recommended, delicious and freshly prepared, we could hardly finish the portions...the staff were very professional and very friendly...we will definitely come back.

We happened upon this restaurant yesterday after visiting the Zollverein complex and had a great time. The food was delicious and arrived quickly, and the service was very attentive. The ambiance is also very pleasant. We were lucky enough to have a personal conversation with the staff. Highly recommended!

No. The service is rude and makes stupid comments. After choosing our appetizers, the waiter commented that our choice was too expensive. The bald waiter is constantly muttering to himself. And is only in a good mood when he's flirting with women. The burger is bad. Frozen patty, pre-packaged salad, and bad burger sauce. The first burger I haven't finished. The salmon was marinated in oil. The potato appetizers at the bottom of the menu and the chicken breast fillet are good. Don't go to the store to eat. The beer is good.

Wir waren am 27.6. hier mit insgesamt 10 Personen. Das Ambiente und die Speisen waren gut, das Personal leider weniger. Nachdem die Vorspeisen relativ schnell (ca. 15 Minuten) geliefert wurden, haben wir auf den Hauptgang über 90 Minuten warten müssen. Es gab keine Erklärung oder ein "sorry wir haben eine Hochzeit im Hause", nichts. Dann kam der Hauptgang, der aber nicht für uns war, man veschwand wieder in der Küche und kam dann nach 10 Minuten mit den richtigen Speisen wieder. Keine Entschuldigung oder gar einen Kaffee aufs Haus, einfach nichts. War letztendlich das erste Mal, nach gefühlten Jahrzenten, dass ich/wir auf das Trinkgeld verzichtet haben. Der Lichtblick war das Essen, was allen Teilnehmern geschneckt hat.
