The ASH Aachen in Aachen

Food is great but one have little chance to remove or change the side dish - one has to order extra what he will prefer. So, we did that, paid for the extra side dish and we didn't eat the standard side (which was not conform with our taste). In the end the waiter started to complain that we are wasting the food and got upset because we tried to explain the reason.

It fit the bill for a lunch with colleagues. Super close to the Confex venue. Had to try the ‘on the bone’ beef rib burger. The meat was cooked to perfection but it had been left a little too long before serving. Same goes for the sweet potato fries. Ambience was good, art work is a little weird for my taste, mine would sit better on the walls but overall would recommend if you’re in the area looking for grilled meat. (There are also some options for vegans too)

Long wait, and dry food! Inedible! The person next to us ordered a steak that the people couldn't even cut properly because it was so hard. Friends of the sun, if you want a good evening, head to Pontstrasse.

Generally speaking, not a bad place; the food is okay, the ambiance is okay, and the staff are quite friendly. Unfortunately, the menu is very confusing in some places. The menu is meant to emphasize the American, modern style, and therefore a lot of it is in English. This might not be a problem for many, as it's familiar from other restaurants, but they do have a description of the items in German. I had a burger. It was rather mediocre. The meat was delicious, as was the rest, but not particularly good. The price is quite high for the rather mediocre taste. €18 for a burger with a meal. Drinks cost almost €5 in a 0.3. They definitely need to do something about that. Overall, I personally wouldn't come back here, as I get better quality and more filling for my money at many places. Best regards

I came here for dinner multiple times for the last 5 years, they had tacos for a while and I miss them, the steak is good, tuna steak, salads are great service usually good it only happened once that was a long hair on top of/in my drink but I didn’t say anything about it because we were done eating already and was crowded . Overall I recommend.

We've enjoyed coming here for lunch for years. However, this is no longer available, meaning attractive pricing is no longer available. Furthermore, several sides (e.g., mushrooms, curly fries) have been removed from the menu. My eight colleagues and I are very disappointed and will now avoid "The Ash."

After waiting 20 minutes, we weren't even asked for drinks, even though the restaurant was completely empty. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing – so we left.

Last time we ate here. Bad service. Truffle mayonnaise was on the bill, even though we didn't get it. We were automatically given a large, stale, still Coke for €5.50 without being asked if we wanted a small or large. We ordered the meat medium, but it was completely raw. The hamburger patty was also undercooked this time. We had to ask for the change; the waitress just assumed it was all a tip. Then we asked for wet wipes, to which she asked, "Two?" even though there were four of us. One employee wore short summer clothes, which were completely inappropriate and unprofessional for the restaurant industry. 👎🏼

We've been to THE ASH several times over the years. The ambiance (summer terrace) puts you in a vacation mood. Reservations are recommended. Service was prompt and friendly, and requests were taken into account. The food came quickly and tasted good. Points deducted for the difficult-to-read menu. You should ask the server directly for an explanation. It's unclear what's included in the burger and steak menu and what's an extra charge. There are also no children's dishes, although they were surprisingly affordable. We'll be back.

The ambiance is very pleasant and peaceful! The food we tried was extremely delicious. I can definitely recommend the bread with herb butter as a starter. The steaks are of good quality and grilled to perfection. Best of all, the service is great; the staff strives to give guests a great experience, and they certainly deliver. Definitely worth a visit or two! We'll definitely be back :)

Definitely recommended. Given the very low occupancy, a different table would have been nicer. Sitting in the corner with a view of the wall made us a little uncomfortable after an hour of waiting for our food. Service came to the table four times during the entire time we were there (1 3/4 hours)...that's acceptable...The food was absolutely delicious.

The food was truly outstanding – top-notch in taste and arrived delightfully quickly. Unfortunately, the entire visit was ruined by the waiter who served us. I have rarely experienced such unfriendly and disrespectful behavior. From the very beginning, he treated us with an annoyed, condescending look, as if we were a burden. Not a smile, not a polite word – just coldness and dismissiveness. When it came time to pay, he simply slammed the card reader down on the table without a word and then walked off as if he'd had enough of us. That's completely unacceptable! Anyone who treats guests like that should perhaps reconsider whether they're even in the right place in the service industry. It's a shame, because the kitchen definitely deserved better staff.

Delicious spare ribs eaten in a surprising environment

I ordered spare ribs with coleslaw salad. The ribs were well prepared and fell off the bone easily, but... the meat was completely unseasoned and the BBQ sauce was way too sweet for my taste. The coleslaw salad was very tasty, but I'm very disappointed, as it wasn't exactly a cheap meal. 3 out of 5 points The fact that you're not asked whether you want a small or large drink when ordering drinks, and then you get the large one... well, that's why 4 out of 5 points The atmosphere is great 5 out of 5 points I give it 4 out of 5 points despite everything

Steak with no sense of doneness. Two steaks were ordered, both of which corresponded to a longer cooking setting. One of them was supposed to be medium, but was cooked all the way through! This is unacceptable for a steakhouse. Anyway, we complained and were supposed to get a new one. During the 25-minute wait, our waiter, Domenico, came to the table and said he'd noticed right away and wanted to see our reaction! A total no-go! He then promised the person in question that they could choose a drink while they waited. Nice trick! The drink was charged in full. When the steak finally arrived, it wasn't medium, but medium-rare - just like the flag said. We made do with that since the person in question was now eating alone. Of course, the sauce we had chosen and paid for with the steak was also missing. Long story short - we've often heard bad things from friends and family, and now we experienced it ourselves. Now you only see us at the competition!

The steak is still good, as is the service, but it's now overpriced. €4.40 for a 0.2 l Kölsch beer...

The service staff, especially an unshaven German waiter and a very thin, heavily made-up waitress, were so disgustingly rude, disinterested, negative, and arrogant. Perhaps they confused the fact that they worked in a chain restaurant and not in the DFC in Dubai, or had other problems, but this was absolutely terrible. The food is completely overpriced, and the value for money is not at all good. The hamburgers are sloppy, and the entire meal is completely covered in onions, so no different from a normal chip shop, even though the idea is actually good.

Sticky tables, dirty seat cushions with numerous stains. We waited 1.5 hours for the food: ribs, a bowl, and chicken. Poor quality and cold! Plus, 9.50 for a non-alcoholic Hugo! Not recommended for that price!

There were four of us at ASH, and they kindly accommodated us by opening the gallery for us, so we were the only guests upstairs. From the drinks (Lillet and Aperol), to the appetizer (beef carpaccio, burrata), to the main course (main salad and filet), the food was okay, but the service was truly the best. The venue downstairs was too loud for us, but they opened the gallery for us instead 😇

In my opinion, The ASH in Aachen is one of the chain's better restaurants. I've had the pleasure of visiting several The ASH locations in the Cologne area. While the visits there were also pleasant, they weren't as impressive as here in Aachen. The staff seems more attentive and much more welcoming to guests. My only criticism: The food is sometimes served with a noticeable delay – waits of up to 40 minutes or more are not uncommon. Drinks can also take a while to arrive. Nevertheless, both the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant are impressive. Of course, you'll have to dig a little deeper into your pockets for the price – but anyone who visits The ASH usually knows that in advance. The parking lot, which The ASH shares with L'Osteria, is unfortunately quite small. Finding a free space is often difficult. Although there is a newly built parking garage right next door, it's still unclear whether it's free to use. There is no signage for this – however, this is not the responsibility of The ASH and only partially influences the restaurant's rating. Conclusion: I highly recommend the location overall – especially if you want to spend a special evening with friends, family, or colleagues.

For me, ASH is one of the best restaurants in Aachen. Great food, great service and top quality. The service staff as well as the management are totally attentive and look after their guests in a very nice and courteous manner. From the very first moment, this restaurant impresses with its stylish ambience and warm service. The menu is well thought out and offers a successful selection - every course was a feast for the senses. I was particularly impressed by the freshness of the ingredients, the creative presentation and the perfect interplay of flavors. The staff was also extremely attentive, professional and at the same time pleasantly unobtrusive. Everything is just right here – a place to which you would love to return. Unreservedly recommended!

Very tasty burgers, friendly staff, great for drinking cocktails

Leider war der Besuch sehr unangenehm. Die Dame am Empfang war sehr freundlich und wir erhielten einen schönen Sitzplatz. Dann mussten wir warten bis ein Kellner kam und die Getränke aufnahm. Wir bestellten und erhielten wiederum nach langer Wartezeit unser Essen. Wir warn zu dritt und die Beilagen waren auf den Tellern komplett vertauscht. Wir reklamierten und die Beilagen wurden richtig sortiert. Wir fingen an zu essen und nach einer Minute kam der Kellner und fragte ob alles in Ordnung sei. Ich vereinte und bemängelte die Qualität und Größe des Fleisches. Das wollte dieser wohl nicht hören und ging nicht weg bis wir sagten das wir jetzt essen möchten. Die Mitarbeiter waren Amateure und taten so als wäre alles OK. Bei den überhöhten Preisen, den kleinen Portionen und schlecht ausgebildeten Mitarbeitern werden wir nicht wiederkommen. We had high expectations of our visit to The ASH in Aachen - in terms of taste, the food also lived up to them. Unfortunately the entire experience was marred by poor service. While we were still busy with the starter, the main course was suddenly served - without any apology from the staff. The plates were simply placed in front of us and we had to push the starter aside to make room. Something like this shouldn't happen in a restaurant with this claim. In addition, one person in our group was served the wrong side dish. We reported this immediately, but it was only after we had all finished eating - and asked several times - that the missing fries finally arrived at the table. The waiter promised that he would take something off the bill, but there was no sign of it when we paid. All in all a disappointing evening. The food was good, but the sloppy service and lack of attention to guests greatly marred the experience. We left with a bad feeling.

I can't recommend steaks. The meat was stringy. Ordered medium and some raw spots. However, the manager apologized with an ice cream.

Steak was great, quickly delivered to the table, tasty and cooked right. Mash potato was a little dry though. Server was really on it, quick with empty drinks and friendly.

I went here again to eat and unfortunately I have to deduct a point from my last review. Side dish changed and still served incorrectly and twice. After the 3rd attempt it worked but the food was almost cold. Was there for the third time yesterday and I have to say that everything was fine so far, the food was very good, no complaints, the service, yes, that's a thing, certainly when you're served by different people. There are good and nice people, but there are also people who you think are just "processing"

Was here today with friends. Very clean. Very attentive service. Food was very good and plentiful. Price-performance is unbeatable. But you should have something more with you.

The ambience and food were good, except for the rather cheap-looking shrimp instead of two prawns at the surf and turf. Unfortunately, our side dishes, which we assumed were too many to tell us later that they were part of one of our menus, were also taken away, but they were not brought back. Unfortunately, my lillet only had 2 berries in it and I just expected more given the prices.

Unfortunately the price/performance ratio doesn't match. Unfortunately, truffle pasta and truffle burgers didn't taste like truffles at all. But the staff are all nice.

This was my second time at The Ash while visiting Aachen and I had a much better experience this time than the first. The service was great both times and the atmosphere, although lively, is comfortable. This time, though, I got the steak and sweet potato fries and it was such a yummy meal. I also got a couple glasses of wine and shared dessert with my colleagues. It was yummy and I’ll definitely be returning.

It's simply an incredibly great restaurant: incredibly delicious dishes, very friendly staff, and a very pleasant atmosphere. I was there with a group of more than 10 people, and they even offered to rearrange the tables – something you can't say no to. The restaurant has a parking lot with plenty of spaces and also offers bicycle parking, so there's something for everyone. The menu is incredibly diverse. Drinks range from standard beverages like Coke to iced tea, homemade lemonade, and a wide selection of alcoholic beverages like beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails. The selection of dishes is equally diverse. A large selection of burgers, sauces, side dishes, and even steaks, which are even cheaper than usual on the lunch menu. This is by no means to say that the prices for the dishes are expensive: we paid just under €20 per person for the lunch menu, so the value for money is also in the 5-star range. The restaurant is spread over two floors. We had our seats on the ground floor, which even offered a view of the kitchen. The restrooms are upstairs, meaning you have to walk a bit from the ground floor. :) The restrooms were incredibly clean, as was the restaurant itself. The staff is very friendly and happy to have a quick chat at your table. All in all, a restaurant that more than deserves a 5-star rating. Highly recommended. :)

He knows how to deal with guests, serves very friendly and with respect. We also received very friendly service at reception and the guests are respected here. Extremely friendly service. I really enjoyed the starter, and the main course (sirloin steak) was excellent. It's quite noisy, so communication at the table is difficult.

In the private room, I found the atmosphere nice and the food was good. Medium was also medium. I can recommend the surface and turf. The tower burger too.

The burger was juicy, spicy and perfectly balanced - a real taste experience! The pastrami was tender, the bun was fluffy, and the sauce rounded everything out. I have to particularly emphasize Alex's great service - friendly, attentive and quick. Top experience, gladly again!

So the food was good. Neither more nor less. The service itself was top. But. In my opinion, the organization there is anything but great. Table reserved in advance. Being told that you have 1.5 hours. OK in itself. But if I have to allow at least 50 minutes for drinks, starters and main courses alone, then something is wrong. Well, it was also unfortunate that the operation's tablets kept having no connection in between. Sorry. Somehow I thought it was a shame. 😔

Today was the second time in Ash, after half an hour the drinks arrived and we were told in advance that we had to leave the restaurant after 2 hours. Oops, great greeting at reception. Rarely have you been served so poorly........ If you want good food and great service, go somewhere else!!

A restaurant with a lot of potential, but a lot still needs to change! The location and seating areas are great, nothing to complain about. The toilet upstairs is very inconvenient and there is no opportunity to take care of a baby. The service is a bit clumsy/clumsy (almost had my mac & cheese hanging over me) and especially very ill-mannered, after we didn't give an extra tip on top of the bill (in my opinion you deserve that if you provide good service and not this). Actually, we should have paid the prices of the lunch menu, which is considerably cheaper than the dinner menu, but because we had to wait more than an hour (!) for four hamburgers, it was now after 5 p.m. (when the "lunch time" ends). This is really scandalous and it just seems like a set up game, so that you have to pay the full price. Fortunately the food made up for a lot; the burgers really had a lot of flavor and the portions were very generous! The mac & cheese was also a good alternative as a side dish.

Super nice staff, great food. We had a dog. They were very animal friendly. Of course, a little more than a McDonald's branch with three people paid a little over 100 euros, but it was 100% worth the money. Further recommended. We'd love to come back too.

Tap water is available here for around €7 / 0.75l During our visit we ordered a 0.75l bottle of water with our meal. Since I didn't know the brand Purezza, I googled it. I then had to realize that Purezza is bottled tap water, which according to the restaurant manager is filtered. Not only do I feel ripped off... but also ripped off, tap water for €10/l. I also wrote to The Ash about this, unfortunately didn't get an answer. No answer is also an answer.
