A visit to Ishihara offers a special culinary experience. The dishes are authentic, fresh and a delight for lovers of Japanese cuisine. The live cooking ensures entertainment and the friendly and fast service contribute to the feel-good atmosphere. Only the furnishings could use modernization - a small makeover would be welcome here. Nevertheless: the restaurant is highly recommended for an entertaining evening with delicious food.

It was our first time here, the service was very friendly, but could have been more attentive when ordering drinks, for example. The food (there were four of us and we had different menus) was great - both in terms of quality, quantity and spice. The preparation of the food directly at the table is unique and was fascinating to watch, unfortunately the ventilation was rather poor - when we went out, all of our clothes simply smelled of fried food. Also the ambience, well... The place is a bit old and it is difficult to have a conversation because you are seated at the table with strangers and more or less next to each other. In general, we found the volume level to be uncomfortably loud; a normal conversation was not possible, also due to the unusual seating arrangement.

Being a Teppanyaki restaurant you can see very closely the quality of the ingredients which is great, the resulting dishes are therefore very good and tasty. We were there for lunch, the lunch menu includes a protein that you select and it comes with a little soup, a little salad, a little appetiser, vegetables and rice.

You should bring a lot of time and money (for our menu a good 2.5 hours / menus from 38€/42€/55€/65€ per person) but you won't be disappointed - the food was prepared directly at the table and the service is original

Always an experience, the food is prepared directly in front of the guest and is very good. Since the prices are a bit higher, we only treat ourselves to this on special occasions.

Ishihara is a real (I mean, ruled by real Japanese staff), nice and good restaurant in Nuremberg. You must try it if you like the taste of a true Japanese dish. The bad point is that if you don't take réservation days before you come, you have no chance to get a place. That's the price to pay for a good restaurant, after all.

The level and performance have developed significantly into the negative. The food is mediocre, but very expensive. The service is catastrophic and the atmosphere is old and in need of renovation. My experience with the restaurant was rather negative and I cannot recommend it. When I tried to give constructive criticism, I was clearly told that no one would care. €68 per menu and some drinks, a total of just under €400 for the evening... Result, an unfriendly chef who prepared one dish after another in short intervals - as soon as you asked to slow it down, all you got was " no". Furthermore, there was no “show” whatsoever that the restaurant was actually known for. Either the chef had a bad day or absolutely didn't feel like it. It doesn't matter what the reason was, it's not appropriate for this price segmented restaurant. Unprofessional and overpriced. Ergo: I recommend something else where the money is still valued and service comes first. Furthermore, I assume that people are now more concerned with arrogance than with customer satisfaction; but pride comes before a fall.

We go to Ishihara periodically for special occasions. The food is still very good. However, the chef does his job almost emotionlessly while preparing food at the table. This in particular used to be a fun experience. The restaurant now seems very dusty, the floor in the toilet sticks, cobwebs in display cases, the whole furnishings seem worn out. Apparently nothing is being invested here anymore. You pay a very good price, but the overall package no longer quite fits. Too bad!

Food and live cooking was great. The waitress provided good and friendly service. We were a group of 8 people. Unfortunately, since the table was shaped like a U, it wasn't possible to talk to everyone.

We went to Ishihara for teppanyaki on a whim. Food was very tasty and of high quality. Service was very friendly and accommodating but a bit inattentive when it came to replenishing drinks. Ambiance is solid and functional. A bit old.

Ate the best steak of my life there, Koben steak. And the atmosphere was really warm. The chef and the other service staff took care of a really cozy atmosphere. My husband was also very happy with his Fuji menu. Absolutely a MUST for Japanese cuisine lovers. It was worth traveling to Nuremberg specifically for this reason.

This very good Japanese restaurant has had a tradition in Nuremberg for decades. The dishes are prepared with typical Japanese care using the best raw materials. There was even Kobe beef today, although I'm a bit skeptical as to whether it was actually original Kobe, it looked more like Wagyu. But the taste was fantastic, we enjoyed it. I would happily recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

The best reason for a stopover In Nuremberg. All five courses were perfect. The chef was an absolute master of his craft.

The restaurant hasn't changed in 20 years. It has now become very unkempt and dingy. Our cook also did his job more with hardship than with joy. A visit used to be an experience. It's a shame that it's no longer like that. It has become too expensive for that.

Super delicious Japanese cuisine, the food is prepared right in front of you. The waitresses and chefs are all super nice and accommodating. The restaurant was our highlight in Nuremberg. 100% recommendation.

Wonderful place with delicious food that has retained its character and menu for at least 30 years. Teppanyaki in its pure form with high-quality ingredients and little chichi. The menu prices are reasonable and the experience is unique!

Delicious, high quality food, friendly staff and boss. Been going to ishihara for years. Prices haven't really increased since Corona. Been to Japan a few times and it's definitely authentic. And another real Japanese, where there are only a handful in Nuremberg. Ishihara is something special and anyone who appreciates it will feel comfortable there.

I recently went to this Japanese restaurant and was unfortunately very disappointed. The food was not fresh and not authentically Japanese. The staff wore dirty clothes and appeared to have a cold, which made me feel uncomfortable. They didn't seem to care about hygiene and at the same time served us without any shame. Later, me and my husband started having stomach ache which made our experience worse. For the price of €300 for four people, that was definitely not acceptable. We definitely won't be coming back.

The oldest and probably best Japanese restaurant in Nuremberg! The food, freshly prepared at the table, ensures a truly authentic experience. The taste is also incredibly good. The price is steep, but you can treat yourself to it as an experience. All in all, highly recommended if you want to go out for a really good Japanese meal

Definitely one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants in Nuremberg. Excellent Teppanyaki specialties are offered in a pleasant atmosphere and at very fair prices. The service is typically polite and courteous. Overall, I can only warmly recommend the restaurant!

I have known this restaurant for over ten years. Service and food is simply fabulous

The food was very good. There's something special about having the chef prepare the very fresh ingredients in front of you. I liked the preparation in front of the guests, but the chefs didn't talk to the guests. It's a shame, a missed opportunity. The Ishihara is getting a bit old, which is noticeable in the furnishings and toilets. Because of the many cooking tables there was quickly a real haze in the room. The solution: open the door, which made it cold for some guests. The prices are a bit high at €40+. So something for special celebrations. Conclusion: On the whole we had a good evening and great food with some deductions (price, furnishings)

So eating is a real experience, really great. The floor is cleaned too much, so you slip or get stuck. A basic cleaner would have to be used.

Delicious! Ambiance is sometimes a bit unclean in detail. Clothes have to go in the laundry afterwards (this is of course absolutely normal with an open kitchen). Overall, however, recommended.

Top in Nuremberg: Here you can get first-class Japanese food, all made with fresh ingredients that are prepared in front of you. Of course you pay slightly higher prices, but reasonable for the quality. I'd love to come again.

Tolles japanisches Essen in unterhaltsamem Ambiente.

Das Restaurant besuchte ich regelmäßig zu Weihnachten mit meiner Familie. In der Vergangenheit waren wir stets zufrieden, jedoch hat die Qualität absolut nachgelassen. Die Preise gehen nach oben und es wird teuerer, aber Service ist eher mangelhaft. Gefühlt kriegt man die Speisen so schnell nacheinander „hingeworfen“, dass einem der Appetit vergeht. Von einer Show seitens Koch kann man ebenfalls nicht sprechen. Da kann ich mich hinstellen und die Sachen ebenfalls anbraten. Des Weiteren ist der Jägermeister absolut warm und Wert auf einheitliche Gläser wird auch nicht gelegt. Ich bemängele es hier, weil wir von einem höheren Preis segmentierten Restaurant sprechen und nicht von einem üblichen Bistro. Diese ganzen Dinge haben sich so summiert, dass es als Konsequenz eine negative Rezession gibt. Ich könnte noch weiteres aufzählen, werde es aber dabei belassen. Ob es einen weiteren Besuch geben wird, bezweifle ich. Dennoch frohe Weihnachten.

Topp. Einzigartig in Nürnberg. Echte japanische Küche. Der Koch bereitet das Essen direkt vor einem zu Ich finde auch das Preis Leistung Verhältnis sehr gut

Essen ist sehr gut und man wird von den Menüs auch satt. Leider ist die Kommunikation ein wenig schwierig, da man sehr weit auseinander sitzt und das Zubereiten der Speisen ein wenig laut ist (liegt halt in der Natur der Sache) Die Köche können ein wenig mehr kommunizieren und bissel mehr den Eventcharakter herüber bringen, daher ein Stern abzug.

Ich bin seit der Eröffnung im Jahr 1989 unzählige Male schon dort gewesen. Und jedes Mal war ich von der Qualität vollkommen überzeugt. Das einzige was ich vielleicht etwas schade finde dass am Anfang mehr Show geboten wurde. Ich hatte jetzt auch schon etliche Male Kobe Rind und ich muss sagen jedes Mal ein Gedicht. Aber meistens bleibe ich beim Menü ISE hängen. Auch die Cocktails finde ich sehr lecker. Natürlich ist dieses Restaurant etwas hochpreisiger aber der Qualität will muss halt auch dementsprechend dafür zahlen.

Es ist auf jeden Fall etwas besonderes dem Koch bei der Zubereitung zuzusehen. Es gibt eine Reihe von Menüs auch ein vegetarisches. Das Essen war sehr lecker und man wird vom Menu mehr als satt. Der Riesling war auch in Ordnung. Diesmal saßen wir im Nebenraum. Hier war es etwas ruhiger. Allerdings saßen wir direkt nebeneinander und nicht über Eck, daher war die Kommunikation zu Anfang etwas schwer. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und schnell. Das Ishihara ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

Einfach nur lecker und toll. Seit über 30 Jahren besuchen wir Ishihara in Nürnberg bei einer Anreise von 200km, ich kann es uneingeschränkt empfehlen, versuchen Sie Menü ISE, undbedingt heißen Sake und einen guten Rotwein. Erneut hier gegessen, wie immer sehr lecker, Fischplatte mit Gemüse, Entenbrust mit Gemüse und Wagya-Steak, dazu ein Barolo und viel heißen Sake, wir sind immer noch begeistert und kommen zurück.

Natürlich ein kostspieliges Restaurant aber man bekommt für sein Geld auch eine super Show geliefert. Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir hatten jeder ein anderes Menü und waren alle super begeistert. Sogar der Sake war extrem lecker!! Kann man sich definitiv gönnen 😄🇯🇵

Unsere Menüs im Ishihara waren geschmacklich sehr gut und auch das Ambiente können wir durch einen Japan-Urlaub als authentisch bezeichnen. Leider wurde unser Besuch im Ishihara durch des Servicepersonals etwas getrübt. Bereits bei der Bestellung konnte unsere Kellnerin Fragen nicht wirklich beantworten, da sie nur gebrochen Deutsch sprach. Als die einzelnen Gänge serviert wurden, waren die Pausen zwischen diesen viel zu kurz und es wurden Reste sofort weggeräumt, welche wir gerne später noch gegessen hätte. Wir haben daraufhin angemerkt, die Reste wenigstens einzupacken und nicht wegzuwerfen. Dies wurde so verstanden, dass wir nicht mehr im Restaurant weiter essen möchten, sondern alles gleich mitnehmen wollen. Der Koch, welches sich die Missverständnisse eine Zeit lang ruhig angesehen hat, hat schließlich für seine Kollegin gedolmetscht. Dieses Hin und Her hat die Ruhe des Abends gestört, sodass man sich nicht wirklich entspannen und genießen konnte. Wir gehen das nächste Mal lieber in ein anderes japanisches Restaurant in Nürnberg.

Bedienung nicht aufmerksam und für japanische Verhältnisse ohne das geringste Lächeln. Essen gut mit kleinen Portionen. Ambiente seit gut 20 Jahren nicht erneuert. Während wir noch am Terijaki-Grilltisch mit anderen Gästen saßen wurde im anderen Teil des Restaurants schon geputzt und nass gewischt. Preislich hoch. Vor Jahren eine tolle exquisite Location, jetzt nicht mehr angemessen

El sitio es muy bonito, cada mesa tiene una plancha y te cocinan delante. En nuestro caso pedimos menú que rondan desde los 45€ a los 90€ aproximadamente con 3 o 4 platos. También se pueden pedir platos individuales. El servicio genial y la comida muy buena.

Es war ein fantastisches Erlebnis! Tolles, original japanisches Ambiente. Super freundliche Bedienung, Köche die Spaß bei der Abeit haben und sowas von unglaublich gutem Essen. Jeder Gang war ein Genuss! Wir waren begeistert und kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Das Essen war ok. Service war top 👍🏻 und der Koch war professionel. Weil sie gleich am Tisch gekocht haben, deswegen sind die Preise auch teuerer als normal

Ein großartiges und wundervolles Restaurant - man muss aber auch wissen, auf was man sich einlässt, ist halt vorallem Teppanyaki! Das Essen war phantastisch und der Service war sehr zuvorkommend! Natürlich etwas teurer, aber der Preis ist sehr angemessen! ICH kann es vollends weiterempfehlen und komme gern wieder!

I would recommend here for sashimi, for the visial effect and experience teppanyaki is amazing of course, but their sashimi (not sushi) is hidden gem! Very fresh and soft. Very attentive waitress. During dinner it is quite full but you can still walk in.
