Great food and beer at great prices, super friendly service!!

We're from the Nuremberg area and are in Plauen for three days starting September 13, 2025. We used to have a good meal at the Tennera. Today we wanted to reserve four places for next week at 6 p.m. A recorded message said reservations were only possible for groups of six or more. We think it's an absolute disgrace and can no longer recommend the restaurant with the new owners. This means they're not making any sales and are driving away guests. This Tenerra won't be able to survive in the long run with its new owners if they're always allowed to dine with six people. Get well soon! We won't recommend this restaurant or visit it again. Many other restaurants are happy to take our money.

Very comfortable, friendly service

When we called, we were given a recorded message about opening hours and that reservations were only possible for groups of 6 or more. We wanted a "test meal" for a family celebration. Not here, then. Other places are much more customer-oriented.

Even the phone call is exciting, reservations are only possible for groups of 6 or more, if you can graciously reach someone by phone, well, it's a shame but unfortunately true, I've lost the desire to spend my money there

Beautiful ambience at the city park with beer garden, friendly staff and good home-style food

Everything was great. Despite being full, the service was very friendly and excellent.

Despite the beer garden being empty, there were two other people besides us. We waited about 18 minutes for service, then another 15 minutes for drinks. The waiter said: "It's busy right now... there was a small group inside, but what if the beer garden is really full? We can't figure it out!"

The food is nothing special, the service is self-absorbed, and the ambiance used to be nice, but they only did the bare minimum. It's no fun going there, even though the place seems promising. It's a shame.

A very nice place for a break with good food and very nice service

We stopped here on August 21, 2025. The weather was good, and we were able to sit in the beer garden. The beer garden is, as always, quaint and cozy. We were greeted very warmly by a member of staff. The new employee, who was being trained by her, was super nice and also did everything they could to make us feel at home. Thank you both so much!! We all enjoyed the food. We had Sauerbraten, pork knuckle, and roulades. The prices are normal by today's standards, and the portions are quite large. We are pleased that the Tennera will continue under the new management. We wish the team all the best and much success. We would be happy to come back. We highly recommend the Tennera.

Three of four drinks were wrong. But the situation is calm.

I don't think I've ever experienced such pleasant service. I'd be happy to come back anytime! The food was also very good, and the prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality. Everything was very good and stylish.

We wanted to take advantage of the beautiful evening and visit the newly opened Tennera around 7 p.m. A sign greeted us, "Please wait." It felt like the old days, "you will be seated." After we had waited for about 10 minutes, and the waiters walked past us what felt like 50 times without acknowledging us or deliberately ignoring us, a member of staff finally took pity on us and asked what we were doing. Our request for a table was denied by an arrogant waiter (perhaps he's from the old days, too?), even though several tables were empty. He also said that even if he had a table for us, the meal would take at least 2.5 hours. When we asked if he was serious, he told us that was perfectly normal. We lost our appetite and turned on our heels. Given this behavior, we won't be visiting the Tennera again, which is a shame considering the location. However, the staff should urgently rethink their approach to customer service. In this day and age, such arrogant behavior is no longer appropriate.

The tennera is finally open again! It's still the most beautiful beer garden in the Vogtland region! And in my opinion, both the food and the prices are even better than at the previous location. I was there once for lunch, and it was fantastic. And once on a Sunday evening, which was also very nice. I was impressed by how quickly and hot the food arrived, even though the beer garden was packed... Keep it up, we'll be back!

We were there today for the first time since the reopening. We didn't let the reviews sway us; we wanted to see for ourselves, and we were pleasantly surprised. We sat in the sunshine in this beautiful beer garden. The service was very friendly and quick. The menu was varied, with something for every taste. The drinks and food we ordered arrived promptly and were very tasty. I haven't had such delicious fried potatoes in a long time; a little more seasoning and it would have been perfect. We'll definitely be back.

It used to be better. As a vegetarian, you have the choice between pasta with tomato sauce and salad. I think you can do better than that. Unfortunately, the service messed up a few things and didn't handle it very well ("then you'll get the large shandy later" after you get a small instead of a large, for example).

After the reopening, we visited the place. Our conclusion is rather mixed. The restaurant was packed inside, with several people in groups. We sat in the beer garden. The service was pleasant and friendly. The menu was more like a beer garden. Prices ranged from cheap to expensive. The food was okay but nothing special. What bothered us was that the beer garden didn't give off a nice impression. They could definitely make everything a bit cleaner and tidier (removing leaves, lighting in the evening). In the end, we were sitting in almost complete darkness.

Yay, finally open again. The food is very good, the service is excellent (small special requests are always fulfilled), everything is very clean, and it's also ideal for a group lunch or celebration.

Lipstick all over the wine glass, knuckle of pork reheated several times and cold inside, menu in the restaurant different from the beer garden. We invited guests and were very disappointed, schnitzel was okay and vegetables were watery, thanks, but that's not something you really need.

The welcome was friendly and warm, the drinks were brought quickly 👍 there were eight of us here, everyone had a different dish + starter. We don't give five stars, we agree, six is still not enough 👍👍👌 we wish the team under Dorit and Steffen all the best 🍀😊

Simply fantastic! We were absolutely thrilled – the food was truly delicious, with generous portions and superbly seasoned. You can tell the love goes into the cooking here. The service was warm, attentive, and truly friendly. This is exactly what you'd expect from a wonderful restaurant visit. A definite recommendation for anyone who wants to enjoy home-style cooking in a cozy atmosphere!

Even a one-star rating is too much. You're supposed to make a reservation in advance. But there are only three of us, and reservations are only accepted for groups of six or more. I don't think this will last long, and then... it's closed again.

I've been there twice now for dinner. I can only say one thing: fast, clean, and delicious.

Delighted by the quick reopening, we've visited the Tennera twice now. Our verdict is somewhat mixed. We were very impressed by the friendliness of the new owners. However, the service efficiency needs to be improved; they lack awareness of waiting guests or used dishes that need to be cleared away. The beer selection lives up to its claim to being a brewery restaurant. However, there's still plenty of room for improvement with the wine selection. A single red, white, and rosé wine isn't the ultimate in excellence. As for the food, the selection is straightforward and delicious. There was more choice before the restaurant closed, though. I think the menu needs to be expanded and improved. All in all, it's not bad, but it's still far from its peak. We'll be back after a break and see where things go. Until then, I wish the new owners the best of luck and lots of luck.

The Tennera has finally reopened. Many thanks to the management of the Sternquell Brewery. The wonderful beer garden, great food, reasonable prices, excellent beer, and a great team—what more could you want? We'll be enjoying the wonderful atmosphere more often.

Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed. In the past, you could have really good food and a pleasant evening here. Now we were disappointed. The beer garden was very busy, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. But I didn't like the self-service concept at all. You have to order drinks and food at a "counter" and then carry the drinks to your table yourself. If we had simply given a different table number, no one would have noticed. It doesn't seem like anyone there has any oversight. We were most disappointed with the menu. The food is no better than at a snack bar. Just simple dishes cooked in a deep fryer. You'd find that kind of thing at every snack bar or garden pub. It would be nice if the menu were revised again and there were some more interesting dishes. The beer garden concept might work in the summer, but it might be difficult to offer such dishes in the fall/winter. Nevertheless, I wish the team all the best and good business.

Very friendly new owners with typical local food, generous portions, and very reasonable prices. Friendly, prompt service, all in a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended since the change of ownership.

After a walk with the dog, we stopped here and ended the evening wonderfully in the beer garden. We had a fantastic meal, the portions were really large, and the service was great. We'd love to come back, as they're also pet-friendly. Keep it up! Update from June 26, 2025 Even after reopening under new management, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit. A few things still need to be worked out here and there, but it's great that it's open again. We were satisfied with the food and service, and the prices are reasonable.

New operators, highly publicized in the regional press, another highlight in Plauen, but it's all just empty talk. It seems to me that the new operators don't know what customer service is. According to the website, advance reservations are necessary, so far so good, but when you call, no one answers the phone or it's busy for hours. As a guest, you're supposed to come in person and beg on your knees for a table reservation. No thanks, there are still plenty of excellent restaurants in Plauen and the surrounding area. One more tip for the new operators: the innkeeper isn't king, the guest is.

Went for dinner again yesterday. The food was always delicious, no matter what we ate. The staff was always friendly. We've always enjoyed our stay here.

Unfortunately you can't give minus stars. Very inflexible, 4 beers in one hand not possible.

Tennera - since my childhood she has been part of the city park like the ducks and the dragon - for decades, whether in the beer garden in the summer, inside in the winter - cozy - in the restaurant or in my childhood days - buying Hansa cookies at the kiosk... she was ( almost) always there. Last week we enjoyed delicious Vogtland dishes as if our own grandma had been standing in the kitchen... and then, while chatting with the waiter and landlady, we heard that it should be over in the spring...?!!!

The Tennera is always a popular excursion restaurant with a beautiful, shady beer garden under wonderful old trees.

Extremely nice young employee, but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the rest of the employees... If you work in the catering sector you have to know how to deal with the guests. The food was simple and inadequate, and also not delicate. Nice location and nice house itself, but this cannot influence the rating. Please change your attitude and the kitchen!

Good food at a good price in a nice outdoor area with friendly service and the usual waiting time for your meal to be served.

The Tennera has existed since around 1900. The name comes from the former owners, the “Tenner's”. This had constant changes of ownership. But the flair is something special and has been preserved quite well. A culinary offering was always based on the respective era. In summary, as an old Plauener, I would say, I have always enjoyed it over the last 6 decades. Attached you will find 2 old photographs of my great-grandfather, court photographer Heinrich Axtmann. The business lasted for five generations. And unfortunately, as a result of digitalization, it has now been dissolved. What was left from that time Is the listed family burial site at Plauen Cemetery 1. My request at the end is to have something to eat in the Tennera. This traditional site is therefore preserved. The service was quick and very friendly. The food was great. There were 7 of us and everyone enjoyed it very much.

Brewery serving is more of a joke. The three of us came to the completely empty restaurant at 4 p.m., wanted to have a beer, but were turned away because all the seats were reserved. The young waitress was friendly and behaved according to the rules. Well, if you don't know anything better, you can accept it without complaint.

Been there again for a long time and went home satisfied.

Very friendly treatment of the guests, even when making a reservation, and if people from the reservation are there a little later, the service will ask which table in the reservation you belong to. And after a short time you are asked whether you have already decided.

I don't even know how the reviews here came about... Actually, the place looks cozy and inviting (even neighboring tables eat). However, our experience was a listless uncoordinated staff. So to quench your thirst with a round of drinks and cake in the beer garden...the order wasn't at the table after 30 minutes. Registration or inquiries from the staff didn't take place for a long time (there was nothing on our table yet), although people walked past several times and tables were served...so the excuse 'just forgot' doesn't really count. In the end we were bullied because we allowed ourselves to say something when asked (probably by the boss herself). That is not how it works!! Discussing with guests is a no go...and then twofold. Guest willing to pay, wait 30 minutes for drinks etc. You didn't really notice any friendliness in the restaurant. It was definitely just our 'bad day' ;-)

We had lunch at Tennera today and were very positively surprised. We got extremely tasty, delicious food and a generously good portion. Every plate that was brought from the kitchen to the guest looked delicious. We were served by a young, attentive man who really enjoyed his work. Very, very nice and always attentive to the guests. We were completely satisfied and can recommend the restaurant.

We celebrated our wedding here and it was beautiful. A table was lovingly set and everything that was previously discussed was taken into account. Super nice and attentive staff. The value for money was also great and the food was, as always, of high quality. We have always enjoyed being guests before and it will definitely stay that way!💝

Wir waren letzte Woche zum Abendessen anlässlich eines Geburtstages dort, leider wurden wir sehr unfreundlich empfangen. Unser reservierter Tisch war gedeckt, aber wir wurden warum auch immer anders platziert, dort war die Tischdecke schön verschmutzt. Das Essen war reichlich aber geschmacklich eher durchschnittlich, die Bedienung war die ganze Zeit sehr schnippig, dauernd irgendwelche dummen überflüssigen Bemerkungen und am Ende wurden wir raus komplimentiert. Definitiv nie wieder.

We had a lovely meal at Tennera. There is something on the menu for everyone, big or small. The portions are generous and the food tastes very good. I had sauerbraten, red cabbage and dumplings. It was very delicious. The Tennera is always worth a visit. Before every visit to the Tennera, I will reserve a table in advance.

A beautiful restaurant in beautiful nature. Often used to quench your thirst after hiking. I would also like to go to the beer garden if it was open! Closed at Easter when the summer weather is beautiful. Closed a week later when it was over 20 degrees. It can't get any nicer. A pity! Let's just hike somewhere else where beer gardens are open.

We became aware of the restaurant because of the menu. Unfortunately, the prices do not correspond to the current prices and only some of the dishes shown are available. We were very disappointed 😞 We could have saved ourselves the long journey. Cleanliness and staff is good.

There were three of us for dinner. The online menu no longer matches the one on site. They haven't managed to update this within a month. The restaurant was hardly attended. Service only 3 stars because there wasn't exactly a good atmosphere among the employees. The food (steak gratinated with seasoned meat) was average, you had to pay 0.45 euros extra for ketchup. I don't even know anything like that. Worcester wasn't even offered. Then came with the third meal because there was no ketchup. The steak was nothing special, seasoned meat and fries i.e. O.. Salad garnish was mediocre. Dressing not special. Just review my food here. Ergo, I definitely won't eat there again. I actually like to have another ice cream sundae, but it's not recommended for prices over 8 euros.

War mit einer größeren Gruppe dort essen, die Speisen sind online viel günstiger ausgeschrieben als im Restaurant! Meist sogar 5€ mehr. Servicefachkraft war sehr genervt als bei Aufnahme von den Speisen 2 Personen noch kurz auf Toilette waren. Essen war gut 👍🏼

Es ist ein sehr uriges Restaurant, ein toller Biergarten und einem kleinen See neben an. Das Essen war super die Preise sind in Ordnung.
