Bad service, food that was on the menu couldn't be ordered and what was left was almost cold, no wonder you had to wait more than an hour. The food didn't even come at the same time, meaning the first person had already finished eating when the last person finally got their food. Doesn't work at all. Very disappointing.

The trading company has always had better or worse days in terms of quality. Today we were there again for several years. Unfortunately it was one of the latter. Roast beef is a Handelshaus classic, but it's even worse that the preparation has always varied greatly. Today, however, it was by far the worst, the original dark, strong sauce gave way to a light (?) sauce that was probably just quickly thickened with flour to apprentice level. The pepper note was also extreme. The fact that the staff is talking loudly in Chinese throughout the restaurant seems strange in a restaurant with this self-chosen theme, and the dishes, which are Asian, don't change that. Price/performance 2 stars

It's always a nice experience to come here. The historic walls in the old town have been lovingly renovated and the kitchen conjures up delicious dishes with a regional focus.

A great restaurant with different areas. The guest room is rustic and yet very tastefully furnished. The garden area with its vines and simple furniture is reminiscent of a wine bar on the Upper Rhine or in Italy. The garden shed itself is lovingly furnished with furniture and decorations from the beginning of the 19th century. The service, drinks and food are just great. Many thanks to the operators. Here you can simply feel good.

Basically nice - we had the Sleeping Beauty room, it was nice, clean but a bit lacking in facilities in the bathroom. The hotel can't help it that the sidewalk in Plauen is opened at 8 p.m. We got another soup.... Breakfast was German good.

Very nice place, very friendly service and good feeling. Unfortunately, the food was simple and not particularly special (onion soup was bland, Bambes (the house specialty) didn't taste fresh, Rostbrätel was relatively small and fried onions weren't particularly roasty. Vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries was on our event menu, but vanilla ice cream was out, Cocktails (with or without alcohol) goods excellent!!

Yesterday I was in the old trading house again for 6 years. You can't expect much more from the food. I think some company canteens cook much better. At 10 p.m. all guests were asked to pay; the entire staff was overwhelmed by this self-created situation. It's a shame, it used to be a very nice place.

This beautifully designed building "Alte Handelshaus" is located almost in the center of Plauen. We were totally fascinated by the ambience inside the rustic dining room. So lovingly furnished with a very nice beer garden. We would particularly like to highlight the very courteous and flexible team and their boss. If we were to get stranded in Plauen again, we would 100% choose the “Alte Handelshaus” for dinner. It is highly recommended. I've been coming to the Handelshaus in Plauen to eat once or twice a year for about 20 years, usually 5-8 people. I was there in August 2023 and was very surprised by the staff that now works in this historic traditional restaurant, the food and also the service In August, he was no longer the person I had known for 20 years, now last Friday the 4 of us were back in the trading house. The impudence we experienced there from the staff and then also from the management was the last straw after 4 times still no food for one of the 4 people, the others were already finished, then this strange guy says... "Waiter" maybe I've already eaten, I didn't know what else to say, then asked the management, who couldn't cope with the situation at all and expelled us from the restaurant. I can only advise all Plauen visitors not to visit this restaurant, which is not exactly cheap. Plauen offers so many beautiful and very good restaurants that you don't have to go to this shop with zero service.

It was the last time for us. The food is carelessly prepared. Salads are served plain without any dressing or seasoning, although it is the main side dish in some dishes. When making Rostbrätel, liver is simply used etc.

Had a christening party there today. Brought home some decorations a few days ago so I don't have to wear it to the party. Everything was lovingly and beautifully designed, the service was very nice and the food tasted great, lots of sauce, delicious dumplings... Absolutely amazing!!!

I've rarely had such a bad meal 👎👎 Fried veal cordon bleu is just not possible!! Staff tried to make the best of it. Bill for over 400 € (funeral service) had to leave the restaurant at 3 p.m.!! Impudence.

We recently had dinner at the trading house again. It was very busy during the week and we were happy to have reserved. The food was very good for me, I had the beetroot Bambes and a delicious non-alcoholic cocktail. My companion had, among other things, the sauerbraten, which could probably be improved. For example, there was no red cabbage and the plate with the dumpling and the meat looked a bit bleak. Also, this sauce was probably not salted enough. We know this differently from the trading company and will keep an eye on it. The service was very good as always! Fast and friendly and the food came to the table at a rapid pace.

We've eaten here many times, if you like good German cuisine, this is the place for you. There is a large selection of food and drinks, especially the sauerbraten or the Bambes dishes are very tasty. The service is quick and courteous and the location is very comfortably furnished with attention to detail. We can't comment on the rooms as we have never stayed here

One of the best hotels in Plauen! Everything is beautifully antique, feels like going back in the past. The hotel is so special, it’s the type of place you could make a film in. I always enjoy my stay here and feel like I’m greeted as an old friend every time; super welcoming service from Nastya and the rest. The location is central too which is perfect. I definitely recommend the breakfast and the restaurant; the food is deliciously homemade and the rooms are stunning. If you’re lucky you’ll catch the special flair of the hotel, meeting the two adorable puddles of the owners. I always enjoy my stay here!

Went here for dinner last week. Easily accessible. **** Stars Ambiance I have to speak for myself here. It was very dark and I found the walls overloaded with pictures. Such a beautiful space, but sometimes less is more. But still very quaint. *** Stars People very friendly, but overwhelmed. Ordered a starter and main course. Everything was brought in at once. Waren im Alten Handelshaus nur etwas trinken. Ist sehr schön eingerichtet und der Service war toll. Die Kellner sahen toll in ihrer Tracht aus. Haben nichts gegessen weil wir vom Weihnachtsmarkt satt waren.

Schön zentral gelegene Gaststätte. Wir waren zum Mittagessen da und sind begeistert. Außergewöhnliche Biere und weitere Getränke sowie auch Speisen, welche man nicht überall bekommt. Freundlicher Service und keine lange Wartezeit. Kommen gerne wieder 🙂

Anlässlich unserer Weihnachtsfeier waren wir im alten Handelshaus essen. Hier wurden wir vom sehr zuvorkommenden Service empfangen und direkt zu unseren Plätzen im Untergeschoss des Objektes geführt. Ein schöner Gewölbekeller im Zentrum von Plauen. Das Essen war hervorragend. Auch der Gastraum im Eedgeschoss war sehr wohlfühlend eingerichtet. Im allgemeinen kann man dieses Lokal sehr empfehlen.

Hallo wir sind Urlauber und waren am 2. Januar 24 am Abend bei euch. Vorher waren wir im Spitzenmuseum. Danach wollten wir noch ein bisschen die City entdecken und die Zeit war dann auch reif für ein gutes Essen. Im Zentrum haben wir nichts so richtig gefunden, weil wir ja auch ortsfremd waren. Im Buchladen hatten zwei Empfehlungen bekommen. Mexikaner und Inder. Ersteres war zu , beim Inder hat uns das Bauchgefühl gesagt, „ lass uns wo anders nochmal gucken „ . Wir beschlossen zurück zum Auto zu gehen, welches am spitzenmuseum stand. Der Weg führte uns an eurem Haus vorbei. Nur dich Zufall haben wir mitbekommen, dass da eine Gaststätte ist. Der Rest ist Geschichte. Meeega Atmosphäre , super nette Bedienung, vor allem der kleine Chefkellner , der nicht größer als 1,10 m war 😉. Das Essen , besser geht nicht !!!!!!!! Zentrale Lage und sehr tolles Ambiente

Schön zentral liegt das Handelshaus. Die Gerichte sind in der Portionsgröße genau richtig. Die Zutaten scheinen frisch und regionalen Ursprungs zu sein. Die Räume und Zimmer sind gemütlich. Allein die vielen Kerzen machten mir ein mulmiges Gefühl, ob dort nicht auch einmal unabsichtlich etwas in Brand gerät. Auch die hauseigenen Hunde, die sich unter unserem Tisch niederließen, empfand ich als gewöhnungsbedürftig.

Sehr leckere und deftige Küche, viele Gerichte mit selbstgemachten Bambes - sehr empfehlenswert! Große Auswahl an Mixgetränken und insgesamt eine umfangreiche Getränkekarte. Sehr zentral in der Innenstadt gelegen.

Vorzügliche Speisen und sehr nettes und aufmerksames Personal.

Das Essen war soweit ok. Ansonsten war es durchschnittlich. Die Portionsgrößen waren reichlich. Den Service habe ich als eher schlecht empfunden. Außerdem wurde uns zuviel fürs Essen berechnet . Das Ambiente ist sehr schön und gemütlich. Schade das man da nicht mehr draus machen kann.

Wurden 2 Tage vorher informiert dass das Restaurant geschlossen ist und es kein Frühstück gibt. Den Schlüssel mit Code zu bekommen war eine Katastrophe- 5 mal Code eingegeben und kein Schlüssel kam, weil dieser eingeklemmt war - erst nach mehrmaligem Schlägen auf den Briefkasten ist der Schlüssel durchgefallen.

(Waren nur zum Essen da, als Zwischenstopp am Weihnachrsmarkt Plauen, hatten kein Zimmer.) Super leckeres Essen, tolle Bambesvariationen, klasse weihnachtliches Ambiente... Einziger Minuspunkt: Wir bekamen einen netten Zweiertisch in einem gemütlichen Zimmer, wurden dort aber 20 Minuten !!! vergessen, bis sich jemand für die Bestellung blicken ließ....waren schon fast wieder am Gehen.

Sehr leckeres Essen und super Ambiente

Bewertung bezieht sich auf das Restaurant, nicht die Pension. Wir haben während der Weihnachtsmarktzeit werktags spontan einen Platz erhalten, was uns sehr gefreut hat (18:00). Danach hat sich der Gastraum sich mit Gruppen gefüllt, also Glück gehabt.:) Getränke und Speisen kamen sehr schnell und waren sehr gut, wie immer. Wir haben nichts zu meckern, solide vogtländische Küche mit interessanten Variationen. zum Handelshausschnitzel mit den Bambes hätte ich mir persönlich eine Soße gewünscht. Zahlung NUR mit EC Karte oder bar , Kreditkarte, Mastercard oder VISA funktioniert nicht

Zum Abendessen dort gewesen! Nachdem wir um 19.30h an unserem reservierten Tisch saßen, mussten wir leider feststellen, dass einige Gerichte aus waren! Anstatt der 1/2 Ente wurde mir die Gansbrust empfohlen!!! Ich muss sagen, die war ihr Geld nicht wert!! Für die Vorsuppe (5,50€) und für 26 € eine Gansbrust sollte ein Erwachsener schon satt werden??? Leider war die Portion zu klein!! Schade

Kein Toller Service, Getränke dauern sehr lange und unfreundliche Bedienungen leider auch nur ausländische bedienungen..

Heute Nachmittag angerufen und für heute Abend noch einen Tisch bekommen. Das war schon mal sehr gut. Das Ambiente der Location ist sehr schön. Es ist sehr urig und man hat das Gefuhl in einem Museum zu sein. Nur zu empfehlen. Das Essen war leider zu kalt, das Fleisch hatte zuviel Fett. Bambes... okay, macht jeder anders. Aber waren okay. Nachdem ich die Reklamation meines zu kalten und fettigen Essens dem Personal mitgeteilt habe, erfolgte leider keine Reaktion und keine Entschuldigung, was ich sehr schade fand, was ich eigentlich von so einem Haus erwartet hätte... Das Personal versteht leider auch nicht alles was man sagt, da das Personal nicht deutsch ist. Wir saßen in der Nähe des Tresens. Und es war öfters sehr laut direkt hinter uns. Bis wir nachschauten... Hinter unserer Sitzbank befand sich einen Holzbox mit 3 Mülleimern, in welchem immer wieder der Müll laut entsorgt wurde. Sehr schade. Auch wurde am Tresen sehr häufig das Eis für Getränke lautstark zerschlagen.

Ich war zum Essen dort, es gab auch ausgefallene Getränke. Das Essen war auch prima, der Kellner fragte öfter nach Getränken und fragte auch ob alles in Ordnung war beim Essen. Es war ein schöner Abend.

Spontanes Abendessen in unserem Kurzurlaub in diesem urigen Restaurant. Gasträume waren gut gefüllt, deshalb ging es für uns in den Weinkeller. Ambiente fanden wir toll. Essen und Personal waren super. Wir hatten nichts auszusetzen und kommen gern wieder.

Ein sehr liebevoll gestaltetes Gasthaus in einem historischen Ambiente. Wir waren spontan dort eingekehrt und bekamen gleich Platz unmittelbar an einem Kamin. Das Personal war sehr aufmerksam und die Speisen waren sehr sehr lecker und erschwinglich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl und versorgt gefühlt.

Tolles Lokal mit gutem Essen und Service. Ein wirkliches Highlight

Hatten einen Tisch für ca. 20 Pers. gebucht. Die Tische mit unterschiedlichen Höhen wurden in einen kleinen Raum gedrückt und es hatten nicht alle Platz. Forelle war aus, es gab kein Schnitzel und Cordon Bleu mehr, Ente war auch aus, dann haben sie doch noch was gefunden. Jedes Bier war unter dem Eichstrich eingeschenkt.Nach meiner Beschwerde meinte die Chefin es sei ihren ausländischen Mitarbeitern geschuldet, da sie nicht gut deutsch kennen. Ich finde, das hatte System. Essen war total chaotisch, süß, frittiert, trockenes Brot, dilettantisch, frittiert, trocken-furchtbar. In der Toilette war ein Licht kaputt. Alles unsauber. Keine Empfehlung.

Die Getränke/Essen Bestellung war ein einziges durcheinander. Das Dressing vom Salat schmeckte nach Apfelmus. Die Ente war trocken. Viele Gerichte waren aus.

Nachdem die Qualität des Essens sich im Jahre 2022 wieder deutlich verbessert hatte, ist diese nun leider wieder auf ein eher durchschnittliches bis unterdurchschnittliches Niveau gesunken. Der und dargebotene Sauerbraten war unter aller Kanone. Wir haben das Essen zurückgehen lassen, es war wirklich ungenießbar. Die Chefin schickte daraufhin den Koch zu uns an den Tisch. Dieser konnte einem nur leid tun. Er kommt aus Marokko, ist neu dort in der Küche und hat von deutschem Essen wahrscheinlich noch wenig Ahnung. Die Chefin erschien dann noch persönlich am Tisch und meinte, ihr habe der Sauerbraten geschmeckt. Auf konstruktive Kritik reagierte sie spitz und uneinsichtig, machte meiner Mutter noch einen Vorwurf, weil sie ein Drittel des Sauerbratens ja schon gegessen hatte ! Das eine Bestellung falsch aufgenommen wurde und das falsche Gericht kam, sei nur am Rande erwähnt. Wir haben einen Salat gratis dazu erhalten. Im Großen und Ganzen macht das Restaurant den Eindruck, dass an einer fairen Bezahlung des Personals gespart werden muss und man einen unerfahrenen Koch (Zitat: "Er ist neu, kommt aus Marokko und muss noch lernen") auf die Gäste loslässt. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön. Aber das Essen ist leider nicht den geforderten Preis wert. Wir werden nun, nachdem wir seit Jahren die schwankende Qualität des Essens erlebt haben, nicht noch einmal wiederkommen.

Ich war das zweite Mal beruflich hier, ich denke ich habe mich von dem schönen Ambiente beeindrucken lassen. Habe bei beiden Besuchen das gleiche gegessen, Salat mit Geflügelleber. Beim ersten Mal war dass Dressing sehr sauer, kann passieren! Dieses Mal war die Geflügelleber einfach nur trocken und der Salat hat im Dressing und Bratensaft geschwommen. Nummer „1“ in Plauen? Sorry. Für mich war es das letzte mal.

Speis und Trank im gemütlichen und rustikalen Ambiente, vergleichsweise zivile Preise und aufmerksame Bedienung. Für jeden Geschmack ein passendes Angebot.

Wir hatten im Vorfeld schon einen Tisch reserviert und wurden ohne weitere Begrüßung nach Ankunft erstmal in dem Vorraum abgestellt, in welchen wir das Gefühl hatten ständig im Wege zu stehen. Nachdem wir am Platz ankamen ging es schnell mit den Getränken weiter, wobei nicht alle gleichzeitig an den Tisch gebracht wurden, sondern vereinzelt. War jetzt nicht das Ende der Welt… nach mehr als einer halben Stunde würde dann unsere Essenbestellung angenommen, welche dann mal nach 1,5 std SEHR ABGEKÜHLT ankam. Das eine Schnitzel war zu langer in der Pfanne und sah aus wie jemand der zu lange in der Sonne lag (angebrannt). War sehr schade, da man auch von den Preisen her eine hohe Erwartung besitzt, die dann einfach nicht erfüllt wird. Würden wir nicht empfehlen und wir selber werden uns da auch nicht noch mal reinsetzen.

Ein sehr schönes „altes“ Restaurant inmitten der Stadt, nahe vom Rathaus in einer Nebenstraße. Den Sonntag, kurz nach der üblichen Mittagszeit war es wohl nicht mehr so gut besucht, sodass man im Innenhof/Garten einen schönen Tisch bekommen konnte. Die Bedienung war nett, freundlich und aufmerksam, es gab zudem auch keine lange Wartezeiten. Das Essen wurde war frisch zubereitet und wurde an einem sehr warmen Tag auch heiß vom Koch persönlich serviert, die Salatbeilagen waren ebenso frisch und knackig, unterm Strich gut, lecker und eine sehr reichhaltige Portion. Dieses Restaurant kann man wirklich sehr empfehlen, wobei ich denke das man zu bestimmten Zeiten hier bestimmt auch reservieren sollte.

Wir waren am 25.06.22 mit Freunden aus Bielefeld zum Abendessen. Hatten kurz zuvor für sieben Person im Biergarten bestellt. Alles ganz unkompliziert. Obwohl der Biergarten voll besetzt war, herrschte eine angenehme und gemütliche Atmosphäre. Wir wurden von einem sehr freundlichen, jungen Mann mit ausländischem Dialekt und einwandfreiem deutsch bedient. Trotz das der Biergarten voll besetzt war, bekamen wir unsere Getränke und das Essen zeitnah. Die Getränkkarte bot eine Riesenauswahl und waren auch gut gekühlt. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und kam für alle zeitgleich und war auch sehr, sehr preiswert. Unsere Freunde aus Bielefeld waren mehr als beeindruckt, nicht nur über das wunderschöne, romantisches Restaurant, sondern auch über den gesamten Service und vor allem über die günstig Preise. Beim nächsten Besuch in Plauen, möchten sie auch unbedingt im Handelshaus übernachten.

Wir wollten im Vorfeld telefonisch einen Tisch reservieren, nicht nötig kommt einfach war die Ansage! OK, gesagt getan. Der Laden brechend voll aber ein Tisch wurde „Zähneknirschend“ abgeräumt und bereitgestellt. Die Karte kommt zügig und auch die Kellnerin die die Bestellung aufnimmt ist freundlich und lächelt. Vielleicht hatten wir ja nur einen schlechten Start. Die Getränke kommen auch recht schnell aber dann…….! Nach 50 Minuten fällt auf das man wenigstens mal die Getränke nachfüllen könnte. Vom Essen ist weit und breit nichts zu sehen. Nach etwas mehr als einer Stunde ist es dann soweit, endlich Essen! Rostbrädl ist ganz lecker, die Puffer matschig; Haxe ist total trocken, Klösse und Sauerkraut ganz lecker. Na ja, immerhin wird uns als Entschuldigung ein Espresso angeboten. Schnell noch bezahlen und weg. Auf keinen Fall noch einmal. Das Personal rennt zwar hat aber keine Chance diese vielen vollbesetzten Tische zu bewältigen, schade. Eigentlich voll urig das Restaurant.

Ein sehr uriges Restaurant mit richtig leckerem Essen. Die Atmosphäre lässt zum Verweilen ein. Die Bambes gibt es in sehr ausgefallenen Varianten.

A very long wait for order to be taken. In fact, had to flag down someone as we’d almost given up.The food was lukewarm and the cheese on the cordon bleu practically congealed when it finally arrived. There was not much food on the plate either, and we were so hungry that we ordered a dessert. That was better and came within about 15 minutes. By the end of all this we were going to ask for the bill, but it was presented very quickly without asking! I wouldn’t bother with this place- can’t imagine how it got such good reviews.

Waren mit Freunden auf dem Stadtfest unterwegs und auf der Suche nach einem schönen Restaurant. Ein nettes einheimisches Paar empfahl uns das Alte Handelshaus, welches ein Volltreffer war. Das gute Essen und die supernette Bedienung kannn man nur weiter empfehlen.

Billig aufgewärmte Speisen. Service durch einen Studenten quasi unsichtbar. Das Bier hatte kein „Leben“ und schmeckte abgestanden

Vorbestellung zu Stosszeiten sicherlich an Wochenenden und Freitag Abend sinnvoll. Das Handelshaus ist stark frequentiert und wird von Plauenern und seinen Besuchern stets gut angenommen, das hat auch seinen Grund: Appetitliches und reichhaltiges Angebot nicht nur einheimischer Speisen im stilvollen Ambiente und nettem Bedienpersonal. Verdientermassen volle Punktzahl !

Wir waren an einem Tag unseres Kurzurlaubs in Plauen gleich zweimal (mittags und abends) im Akten Handelshaus zu Gast. Das Ambiente, wenn man es mag, ist sehr heimelig. Wenn man Antiquitäten und nostalgische Alltagsgegenstände schön findet, dann wird man sich hier sehr wohl fühlen können. Die Küche und die von uns gewählten Speisen und Getränke waren hervorragend. Wir waren von der Qualität, dem Anrichten, aber auch von der Wartezeit auf die Getränke und Speisen schon eher begeistert. Hier ist man in Sachen Serviceverständnis ganz weit vorn in Plauen... Das ist nicht überall dort so, wie unsere Erfahrungen leider bewiesen... Einziger ganz kleiner Kritikpunkt wäre vielleicht, dass die jungen Servicemitarbeiter im Alten Handelshaus noch etwas weniger cool und dafür freundlicher und extrovertierter sein könnten, aber das wird im besten Fall ihre weitere Berufserfahrung mit sich bringen. Toi, Toi, Toi! Fazit: Das Alte Handelshaus Plauen ist weit vor anderen Restaurants der Place to go and stay! Wir kommen gern wieder und machen Station, auch wenn wir nur an Plauen vorbeifahren...
