Taverne Savas in Düsseldorf

A lovely restaurant (in a good location) with a very friendly host. I like to compare it to Taverna Eleon. Both are slightly more modern Greek restaurants with some more unusual creations. Everything was delicious, but I find the dishes at Eleon a little more refined.

I spontaneously went there with my girlfriend and was greeted very warmly by a member of staff. We sat outside and our orders were taken right away. Since we weren't particularly hungry, we only ate a small meal, but it was very tasty. We then had a few drinks and let the evening wind down.

Unfortunately, our visit to Savvas Taverna did not meet our expectations. Although some of the main courses were delicious, the appetizers – especially the giants – tasted canned, which is unacceptable for a place that advertises itself as a traditional tavern. I do not want to comment on the fact that 3 out of 5 dishes were broken. Unacceptable. The most serious thing, however, was the behavior of a waiter, who was particularly rude and ironic. We had booked a table outside by phone and they had assured us that, as long as it was not raining, we could sit outside. However, when we arrived, their attitude was indifferent to the point of being aversive – the strong feeling that they did not want to serve us outside. We are not the only ones who were disappointed. Other acquaintances of ours have expressed similar complaints – both about the quality of the food and the behavior of the staff. We do not plan to visit the tavern again and cannot recommend it.

The food was delicious, and we got a seat without a reservation. However, we were lucky, and making a reservation in advance is highly recommended! The staff is on the ball and accommodates special requests. This restaurant was our first choice because our hotel wasn't directly in the city center.

You should especially try the grilled octopus. Each one was delicious but I couldn't understand why the waiter didn't let us sit in the garden.

If you want authentic Greek food, then this is the place for you! Good quality, clean, and fresh! Great ambiance with the option to sit outside (large terrace)! Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

We stopped by spontaneously – very friendly service, fair prices, good food without any frills, with a little room for improvement. We would have been delighted to have a side salad or dip with our meal. We'll be back.😊

I celebrated my birthday with colleagues, everything was wonderful, the appetizers were 100% reminiscent of Greece, delicious. What we ate was a suggestion from the store so that my guests would be excited ... and indeed it was an absolute success ... Again and again I will visit the Savas tavern and my guests .. I thank the whole Team and especially Theo who served us, always with a smile.

Dann das leckere Essen in authentischer Atmosphäre und Mythos vom Fass....wir waren rundum glücklich :). Vielen Dank an das gesamte Service- und Küchenteam, es hat uns sehr gut gefallen bei euch.

Great Greek Food like in Greece. Lovin it !!!!

Actually everything was great. The tzatziki could have had a little more pizzazz and the fries could have been a minute longer. Otherwise everything was good. Service attentive and nice.

So unfortunately I can't sign the reviews here. For me, the shop has the ambience of a rest stop, especially because there is a slot machine in the front where people gamble a lot. At first the waiter was absolutely annoyed and sighed loudly with every move. Then it continued that when we ordered, we were informed that this wasn't a kebab shop that served coleslaw, and that all Germans would probably order that even though it wasn't traditionally Greek? I don't care? You can just say, we don't have that on the menu and that's fine. When I wanted to know whether there was something like fries as a side dish, I went straight on to the Greek lesson, because they don't have "frozen fries" 😂 I don't know who likes to specifically order "frozen fries", but from a good restaurant I usually assume home-made fries, which were only called patates. So I think to myself, what waiter says something like that to guests? Then came the coleslaw, which actually only tasted like vinegar and oil. Afterwards my bifteki - half raw inside - with batates (in my opinion, perfectly normal fries). But the coolest thing was that when I pointed out the raw meat, the waiter seriously wanted to tell me that it is normal in Greek cuisine for the meat to be a little raw on the inside 😂 So no thanks, we won't come back, and I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone recommend.

Everything great ! Really one of the few shops where you feel at home. The staff is very attentive, the food is top class and the prices are within the normal range. TOP!

A really great restaurant. This is not initially apparent from the outside. We ended up there based on a recommendation and were not disappointed. Very great restaurant, friendly and competent staff (seems like a family), good atmosphere and excellent food. The price-performance ratio is also right. We will definitely come back and say thank you.

I have been coming here again and again for 10 years. The food is always delicious and fresh, the service is super friendly, and the atmosphere is simply relaxed. Perfect for spending a nice evening with friends. Absolutely recommended!

Service inattentive. Long waiting times until someone even comes to take an order. The grill plate was dry and inedible with the exception of the paidakia and the fries.

Very tasty and great service! We were only on the terrace, which is right on the side street, but that doesn't bother us that much. The food was authentic and the staff were all very nice and attentive. Gladly again. The Frappé with real espresso is also great.

Got into Düsseldorf late and needed a good bite to eat, this place was amazing. I couldn’t stop eating the meat with feta inside and the server was very helpful in recommending the best food. The bread was fresh and soft. Authentic Greek with great service and great vibes!!

A very delicious meal was served. I will definitely visit on my next business trip!

Bad service, mixed food. We were there on the weekend evening. The store was moderately full, but everyone was sitting next to each other. When you looked at the menu you were pressured to order and if you wanted more time you got reproachful looks (we weren't there shortly before closing time and guests also arrived after us). The starter plate was totally acidic and tingled on the tongue, so it was probably fermented. Main courses were OK. The request for another bottle of water or oil with the meal was accepted but then simply ignored even after asking. In general you had the feeling of not being wanted there. Even when paying you were greeted in a very unfriendly manner and after expressing criticism you were simply told "the store is full".

Wir waren jetzt zum 2 mal bei Savas und ich muss sagen es hat sich personell verschlechtert. Das Essen ist gut, aber das Personal lässt zu wünschen übrig. Demotiviert - unfreundlich- einfach kein Bock . Sorry Leute so geht das nicht . Ich fand auch das Kunden bevorzugt behandelt wurden ( aber das ist meine persönliche Meinung) Wenn ich euch einen Rat geben darf : der Kunde isst euer Lächeln mit .

There are much better Greeks in Düsseldorf!! Service very unfriendly and bad-tempered. Everything is kind of dingy. Food bad, not typically Greek and too expensive. Portions too small. To get enough, you have to expect at least €50 for two people. It doesn't work at all! We don't go there anymore.

Very tasty food in a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately the service is very inattentive. Main course came well before starter, without apology. You have to go out of your way to get drinks so that the waitress notices you. Didn't give a tip last time because it was really "cheeky" at times.

Arrived at 10:30 p.m. Have been assigned a place. After we ordered our drinks we said we didn't want anything to eat. We were then very rudely given the bill. And when we had paid we were asked to leave several times without being able to finish our drinks in peace. If we had been told from the start that we had to eat too, we would have left with understanding, but that's really how it was underneath everything. Conclusion: Never again at Tavern Savas

Both times I have being there an old man attended me. I guess they don't fire him because they feel sorry for him. I have never being treated so bad in my life in a restaurant. I just wanted to order some french fries, and then he looked at me as I was the worse piece of .... in the world. Then after 2 minutes another waiter came telling me "You just want french fries??". It felt so uncomfortable, to feel they were talking about me in the kitchen. The first time I went there was even worse. Definitely not going there again, and I recommend people to not visit this restaurant either.

The first and last time we were in this restaurant. The food was carelessly prepared, it wasn't what was on the plate like it was on the menu. The waiter could also be a bit friendlier. Not recommendable….

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our reserved table. The food tasted excellent (we had the grill plate) and the prices were reasonable. The ambience also fits well and is trimmed towards a tavern. Finally, on recommendation, nut cake, pistachio ice cream and a mocha. All in all a nice evening. There is a point deduction for the toilet, which is no longer entirely up to date as it is a little too small for the number of guests, but this may be due to the design. Kind regards, Siegfried.

Very impolite! -Unorganized -chaotic We got the tip from locals on the beach, borrowed a car and went there, wanting to visit instead. When we got there we weren't greeted at all and when we were discovered, we were first asked if we were in a group, then when we said no, we were immediately turned away, as if 2 people weren't enough for them! Then we asked why we hadn't made a reservation! There was enough space!

Preis- Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht. Portionen zu klein und zu teuer. Qualität mittelmäßig.

Der Service ist mega! Das Essen war früher noch besser. Preis/Leistung passt leider nicht so gut, man kriegt viel weniger als man bezahlt. Dafür ist das Personal Super freundlich!

Jahre lang Kunde dort. Es ist das beste was es im gesamten Ruhrgebiet gibt. Wir fahren aus Essen immer dort zum Essen wenn es griechisch sein soll. Qualität ist sehr gut der Service sehr nett. Kann/ muss man weiter empfehlen!

Interessanter Ort, aber ich finde es schockierend, dass die Leute drinnen an einem Tisch sitzend rauchen.

Rustikales Ambiente, Speisen frisch zubereitet und sehr lecker, sehr große Auswahl. Gute Weinauswahl. Sowohl für einen geselligen Abend, wie auch den späten Hunger geeignet, da die Küche immer bis mindestens 01:00h auf hat

Null Empfehlung!!!!!! Sehr unfreundliche Keller. Bei Ankuft wurde man komplett ignoriert. Nach 15 min wurde uns ein Platz zugewiesen. 3 Kellner putzen 3 Tische aber keiner kommt auf die Idee uns eine Karte zu bringen.
