Very authentic restaurant! Typically Greek! The food is commensurate with the price or actually too much 😅 Incredibly delicious! 😋 So you have to come very hungry to manage the portions. We had a starter for 2 people (shared by 4) and it was absolutely enough! We will 100% come back!

For us, this is the best Greek restaurant in Frankfurt and an insider tip. This is a family business and I have never experienced such hospitality in Frankfurt. You talk to each other, drink an ouzo together and even if you meet by chance on the street, it's always nice. The food was always great for us. No matter whether it's a starter, salad, meat or fish dishes or desserts. Everyone who ate there with me went back. 😊 I think the fact that the restaurant has been around for so long speaks for itself. 😉 There you can find the tastiest red wines for me/us. It tasted very good here and I felt very comfortable.

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was not what we had hoped for. The expectations of an authentic Greek meal were not met in many respects. It started with the bread basket: Instead of the typical pita or a small, suitable starter, there was gray bread that neither tasted nor styled Greek cuisine - rather bland and inappropriate. The Saganaki was a disappointment both visually and in terms of taste - we strongly suspect that this is a convenience product. The farmer's salad wasn't a joy either: it was literally swimming in olive oil, the dressing wasn't balanced, and sea salt and chili salt from Edeka were carelessly placed on the table to season it - without pepper. As if that wasn't enough, my friend was served the exact opposite without cheese, despite his prior express request. Unfortunately, no highlight awaited us with the grill plate. The taste was okay, but definitely not worth the price: the neck steaks were tough and dry, small plates were served with them - impractical with a dish like this. The fries were placed under the meat as a base and were therefore completely soggy - a shame. When we asked for mayonnaise, we were given tubes of ketchup and mayo from Edeka directly on the table. This is also simply inappropriate and disappointing in a restaurant. The drinks menu only stated 0.3l, but was served e.g. B. a Hefeweizen in a 0.5l glass - that's nice, but it causes confusion. And then with an RMV beer mat? Unfortunately, that doesn't fit into the image of a restaurant that wants to present itself as authentic and high-quality. Unfortunately, the toilets were not clean and were equipped with two-ply toilet paper - here too there was no sense of quality or feel-good atmosphere. The service was friendly, but too present - constantly asking if everything was okay seemed more annoying than attentive. Overall, we were left with a rather disappointing experience with many little things that add up to an unbalanced overall picture. We've eaten much better Greek food for the money - what a shame!

We were out on Saturday afternoon and wanted to try out the great food. We hadn't reserved a table and were asked as soon as we entered the restaurant whether we had reserved a table. I answered this question in the negative.....it was 6 p.m....but the service staff was extremely unfriendly to us.....no hello....unfortunately we are full... Very unfriendly........I had the impression that they were happy that we were gone again

The food was still the best - although quite expensive. But the fact that you had to wait over 1 1/2 hours can only be half-heartedly excused given the full dining room. In addition, three tables that were seated after us were served before us and we (even though we already knew what we wanted to eat when we picked up the drinks) had to wait 30 minutes after arriving before we were even allowed to place our food order. All in all, a very frustrating evening, which was topped off with an “interim bill”. But apparently you don't have to worry about customers, the shop was packed during the week - we won't be coming back and we certainly won't be missed.

Super delicious food. Always far too much, but of course that shouldn't be a criticism. Very good quality. Salad always fresh. We ordered the grill plate for two. Even though there was so much meat on it with different cooking points, nothing was too cooked or dry. Everything nice and juicy and hot. Super seasoned and the tzatziki was also world class. After your meal you will also be treated to the classic ouzo. Always very happy

Definitely, a nice quaint old pleasant place

Santa Claus is gone but still there! Nicholas has secretly retired. If you've been visiting the restaurant for decades and spontaneously go back, it's hard to digest when Niko is no longer there. The shared stories, the warmth and familiarity. All of this now has to be rebuilt. Andreas is the new boss in the house and is trying very hard to make it feel like it always does. But if you come to the tavern and don't know anything about the change, it's a shock because you're not greeted as familiarly and as familiar as usual. He was a part of my/our life and Uncle Niko. Yes, he had apparently changed suppliers some time ago and the lamb was no longer of the same quality and size as usual. But you can. But Andreas was probably able to take over as cook and everything tasted as good as usual. Why not now? Niko was missing. But I'm sure that we'll have another great time with Andreas and hopefully we'll get a place there for another decade and it will soon feel like coming home again. Dear Andreas, you are doing well. Stick with it like that.

Very tasty and neat food, clean with kind staff and very good service

A quaint, long-established Greek restaurant with delicious food. Maybe a touch worn out after 40 years of existence. Niko, the innkeeper, who was obviously very popular with his many regular guests, has retired. But the welcome is still very warm, and the staff look after you with the utmost care. And since the chef has stayed, the food remains delicious and plentiful.

Moussaka for 18€ (!) was the day before and was only warmed up in the microwave. It was warm on the outside but still cold on the inside. It tasted pretty floury. Not even reheating in the microwave was done well. In addition, there was no insight from the boss, just a “Unfortunately that’s the way it is!” and two schnapps to calm you down. Conclusion: Overpriced with poor quality. It is better to avoid them and look for alternatives with good quality

Food and service very good as usual.

It's always nice to enjoy delicious Greek food at Niko's. The portions are large, quality is great, prices are completely reasonable.

It was really good. The only negative thing is that we had a wine recommended and it was a 32 euro house wine... Twice as expensive as the most expensive wine on the menu. You don't do that. A great evening totally ruined.

We have been coming to Tavern Niko for 10 years and we have now met the new owner. My wife, our child and I are still very satisfied with the restaurant. The food, the reception, the service and the ambience are very pleasant. Niko chose his successor very well. I can highly recommend the restaurant.

This is an authentic staple of Wiesbaden for more than 40 years. You will rarely find better meat or better atmosphere than in Taverne Niko.

Happy place in Wiesbaden. Niko is the best :-) A guesthouse that may look inconspicuous from the outside, but as soon as you walk through the door you are greeted with great warmth by the entire staff and it is very cozy - like a little short trip to Greece. The food is also super delicious - there is also a large vegetarian selection that you can easily share so that you can try a lot of things. My personal highlights: herb oil, tzatziki, oyster mushrooms, broad beans. Thank you Niko and team - stay safe and healthy for a long time to come.

Niko is now retired, but that affects the quality of the food and the service in no way a termination. We dined with friends and were warmly welcomed and served. The Greek dishes and also the cheese crackers for the child were wonderful. Personally, I recommend the spicy mussel soup. Thank you for the lovely evening.

The food was good but the Tarama didn’t really have much to do with Tarama . Apart from that everything else was tasty . Only issue is : the owner Nico is the only one taking orders so if he is busy with other tables you have to wait and that could take a while . He also likes to tell you what you should eat even though you might have picked something different . So that is the only annoying thing is that he doesn’t really listen to what you are saying and goes ahead and orders for you . It’s ok for the first time you might find it funny but I’m not sure if I would go back to honest .

Mi familia y yo estábamos alojados en la zona, ya que mi hijo está comenzando la Universidad aquí y estábamos buscando algo diferente aparte de lo que hemos estado comiendo pizza y schnitzel. Encontré este restaurante en viaje asesor y pensé por qué no. Es un acogedor restaurante con mesas muy cerca uno del otro. Los menús son un poco viejos y pegajosos, así que eso me desanimó, pero encontramos un montón de platos que queríamos probar, sin embargo, cuando llegó el momento de pedir Nico, el propietario (única persona permitida para tomar su pedido . Muy en control ) , fue un poco agresivo y casi decidido por nosotros y no nos permitió pedir nuestra red eléctrica dijo no esperar hasta que te comas tus entrantes. Quiero decir, estaba bien, pero un poco agresivo. Tampoco tuvimos mucha flexibilidad cuando se trataba de nuestra red. De nuevo él más o menos decide por ti. De todas formas en general la comida era sabrosa (no te molestes en pedir el Tarama ya que no tiene NADA que ver con Tarama). Los entrantes eran buenos y las parrillas estaban cocinadas a la perfección y súper sabrosas. No nos quedamos por el desierto porque la cena se demoró una eternidad y no queríamos esperar.

Niko himself is simply a person with a heart and makes everyone feel welcome. I've always found the food very, very tasty. As a tip, ask for extra garlic, they'll make it fresh for you too. Just a great shop and I hope I can continue to enjoy it for years to come.

I only ever buy takeaway meals here. It's very difficult for me to rate the food here because the quality depends extremely on the dish. The gyros are super tasty, but the fried eggplants, for example, swim in oil and are, in my opinion, inedible. For the price they are a real disaster. There is always a delicious ouzo on the house and the service is always super nice and friendly.

10/10 - the food, and the ambience are amazing, and the staff, the staff treat you like you are long lost family! Don’t visit Wiesbaden without heading here to dine.

Auch ich möchte die zwei letzten Bewertungen nicht unkommentiert lassen und noch einmal deutlich Stellung beziehen. Meine Partnerin ist Griechin , wir kennen die Küche Griechenlands aus dem ‚ff‘, sowohl in Griechenland (und nur dort gibt es DIE originale griechische Küche) als auch in Deutschland. Nico ist ein herzlicher Gastgeber und die Stimmung ist super. Wer sich tatsächlich mit der griechischen Küche beschäftigt und diese auch ‚kennt‘ kann dieser final kein gutes Zeugnis ausstellen, ohne wenn und aber. Man kann ein Restaurant ‚hypen‘ , aus unterschiedlichsten Gründen, das wird weder der griechischen Küche gerecht noch denen die tatsächlich das auf die (nicht überfüllten) Teller bringen was der Küche Griechenlands im Ansatz entspricht. Die Bewertungen auf TripAdvisor sollten nicht dazu führen das Restaurants, Hotels oder Dienstleister durch ‚Fanclubs‘ gehypt werden. Bestimmt haben viele von uns Bekannte oder griechische Freunde. Einfach mal mitnehmen und neutral die Sache angehen. Fazit: ja, viele Stammgäste und stets gute Stimmung bei vollem Haus. Der Erfolg gibt Nico recht. Und nein, die Küche kommt da bei weitem nicht mit. Jeder(r) hat seinen berechtigten Grund ein Restaurant zu besuchen, man sollte aber bei der ‚Euphorie‘ die Kirche im Dorf lassen.

Everything you would expect from a "Greek", but also a little more. The service above all: extremely attentive, friendly, and on your first visit it feels like you are a valued regular guest. The greeting from the kitchen is white bread and a plate of really tasty olive oil, with tzatziki. This gave way twice. The saganaki was really nice, the sliced ​​potatoes for the main course were great, and the portion was generous. And the subsequent delivery of tzatziki without charge - rare, admirable. Add two ouzo on top and the evening is a success and yes, you could become a regular.

Wenn man authentische griechische Küche mag ist Taverne Niko die nr 1 in Wiesbaden. Fast alles ist selbst gemacht und nach Familien Rezepten zubereitet. 40 Jahre Qualität und Stammgäste gehören zu Niko. Dazu kommt die familiäre Herzlichkeit ohne abzocke was in Wiesbaden selten ist. Ich verstehe den Kommentar von Thomas aus Februar nicht und glaube es ist einfach das falsche Lokal für ihn. Das dort angesprochene Brot ist die ideale neutrale Ergänzung zu zahlreichen Vorspeisen z. B. Die Sardinien. Also alles gut. Für Thomas gibt es sicher andere Lokale in Wiesbaden die ihn glücklich machen. Ich empfehle Niko uneingeschränkt guten Appetit.

Super Service let down by the kitchen. We arrived with high expectations, but the food let the whole experience down. Great tzatziki but sliced bread followed by lightly flavoured giros and overcooked lamb souvalki. So sad that we didn't experience the quality the ratings set as an expectation.

When we ordered we were looking forward to gyros and that's why we ordered them. Unfortunately, the gyros was either leftover from the day before or from lunch, and it was totally dry. The fries were soggy. When we entered the restaurant, the boss was sitting in the chair, which was OK. However, what we didn't think was OK was the fact that he greeted all subsequent guests with a friendly conversation. He didn't seem to care about us.

We wanted to eat there on Saturday, but unfortunately we weren't allowed entry because I'm in a wheelchair and we were told all the tables were occupied. A short time later a young couple came without a reservation and got a table without any problems and unfortunately we couldn't . So I can assume that. Disabled people are not welcome in this store

I've never had such a good restaurant experience. I don't normally write reviews but I left this restaurant so happy I just had to write.

I ordered Bifteki and unfortunately what came out were 3 small meatballs that were filled with feta that was already musty and gray. After I tried to point out to one of the staff that the feta cheese was no longer good, they seemed very understanding and didn't want to admit the mistake. It's a shame & not recommended.

Oh Niko! You don't grow old and just remain an institution

Ich möchte hier ein paar Worte zu der Bewertung von Thomas W abgeben der leider auch noch den gleichen Vornamen hat. Vielleicht war ja wirklich das ein oder andere nicht perfekt das kann schon sein wenn man einen Gastronomiebetrieb über 40 Jahre betreibt ist man nicht jeden Tag auf 150 Prozent. Ich kann dazu nur folgendes sagen. Niko ist eine absolute Institution in Wiesbaden und ich komme hier her fast genau so lange wie dieser lokal besteht. So geht es vielen Gästen Niko hat 90 Prozent Stammgäste und das hat man nicht über 40 Jahre wenn man nicht gut ist. Mag sein dass dies für einen durchreisenden nicht erkennbar ist oder dass Ambiente und Gerichte nicht seinem Geschmack entsprechen. Ich kann nur sagen für sehr viele Menschen in Wiesbaden ist Nikos Taverne eine Institution und ein zweites Zuhause hier treffen sich alle Menschen egal welchen Status und welche Herkunft sie haben und das ist etwas besonderes was man heutzutage leider kaum noch findet. Also lasst euch von solchen Kommentaren nicht beeinflussen und erlebt es selbst. Wem das nicht gefällt für den gibt es genug andere Möglichkeiten. Liebe Grüße Thomas Weber

War gestern da. Wer es urig macht, wird hier glücklich sein. Ich fand es dunkel und sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Das Brot, das zum Zaziki gereicht wurde, war Graubrot vom Discounter (billige Konsumentenware). Nicht mein Fall, beim Griechen hätte ich eher ein schönes Pitabrot erwartet. Von den Calamaris hatte ich länger was, die beschäftigen mich heute noch. Die Öl/Balsamico/Gewürz-Mischung kam direkt fertig gemischt aus der Literflasche. Pommes waren völlig durchgefettet. Krautsalat war lecker, Rotwein auch okay. Die Rechnung war eine „Zwischenrechnung“, das Finanzamt hätte hier auch seine Freude. Werde nicht wieder kommen.

Der Wirt ist ein amüsanter Typ und das gesamte Service-Personal sehr zuvorkommend und flott. Die hauseigenen Weine sind noch halbwegs passabel, wenn auch schon etwas hochpreisig kalkuliert. Dem Ambiente kann man vielleicht noch einen gewissen "eigenen Charme" abgewinnen. Aber was da aus der Küche kommt, geht leider gar nicht. Die vielen sehr positiven Bewertungen hier und die Platzierung als Nummer 1 sind uns ein unergründliches Rätsel. Trockenes Fleisch der billigsten Sorte, alles plump überwürzt … Es lohnt sich nicht, hier in die Details zu gehen. Wiesbaden ist in kulinarischer Hinsicht insgesamt nicht gerade gesegnet – aber das hier ist selbst in diesem Umfeld unterirdisch.

I don't know what to write first. We got a variety of two people, which cost €45. It had gyro (which was overcooked and tasteless), steaks (which had a very unpleasant smell and that's why we couldn't eat them), lamb chops, pork souvlaki and french fries (which were terribly overcooked and looked like potato chips .We couldn't even bite them with a fork). The cottage cheese was terribly tasteless, both the cucumber and the tomato. It is logical that the vegetables in Germany are not the same, However, you cannot sell a cucumber that tastes like water to the customer. The retsina we got was very expensive, specifically €9 for 500 ml in bulk. The whole experience was very strange. First we sat at a table and the waiter came to take our order. After we ordered he asked us if we wanted him to put olive oil with herbs on our plate to dip the stale kuber bread. When we refused he looked confused but eventually left. When the food arrived, the waiter insisted that we eat the lamb first, and willingly put it on our plate from the plate, not even knowing if we eat it or if we have an allergy. Also very annoying was the fact that the owner of the store was walking around the store WITHOUT A MASK IN THE TIME OF CORONIO, chatting with us and all the customers in general, "joking" and drinking wine. For the first time in my life I am sitting down to "enjoy" my food, having someone come and bother me for no reason. When the waiter walks by and asks if everything is ok, I find it ok. But when I want to eat, I don't want to mess with strangers who don't wear a mask. I can't understand the rave reviews I've read here. Based on them I came to the store, but my disappointment was very great. Pity.

Not a nice atmosphere, pushy owner, a waiter who vehemently wants to sell you a different dish than what you had decided on and ultimately a meal that is served in large - for my taste rather overloaded - portions after just a few minutes The amount of oil and fat cannot be beaten. Quality instead of quantity would be appropriate here. In our opinion, definitely not worth a second visit.

Der beste Grieche im Rhein Main Gebiet

Leider habe ich mich diesmal garnicht wohl gefühlt....eine Vorspeise kam doppelt, die Lamm Pita hatte doch tatsächlich nur 5 kleine Stückchen Lammfleisch, dafür allerdings übertrieben viel Tsasiki. Tut mir leid....ich habe mich das erste Mal garnicht gut bedient gefühlt. Schade.....Mal schauen ob ich nochmal hier essen gehe.

Ohne Übertreibung; so gut habe ich noch nie in einem griechischem Restaurant gegessen. Das Interieur hatte den Charme der 70/80 Jahre, aber die Atmosphäre, der Wirt und das Essen waren unbeschreiblich toll und lecker. Die Vorspeisen waren richtige griechische Hausmannskost, der super leckere Tzatziki und der Lammspieß und das Gyros so unbeschreiblich zart und lecker! Ich kann die Taverne Niko zu 100% weiterempfehlen.

Ich gehe seit 20 Jahren unregelmäßig zu Niko und bin stets zufrieden. Das Essen ist gut, die Preise sind okay und Niko und seine Mitarbeiter leben Gastfreundlichkeit.

Adoré este lugar 💖 El dueño fue muy amable y atento siempre, se sintió como si nos invitará a su propia casa, nos recomendaron platillos deliciosos, yo probé el Pulpo 🐙 y tuvo un sabor increíble, tuvimos una buena conversación dentro del lugar y pudimos disfrutar de un par de bebidas. El ambiente fue muy agradable y animado. La decoración es muy interesante, desde los cuadros, hasta los dibujos de niños que le regalan al señor Niko que me parecen muy adorables, me encanto que tenga ese detalle con guardar y exhibir los dibujitos.

Wir waren am Wochenende zum ersten Mal in der *Taverne Niko" und waren begeistert. Vom Service bis zum Ambiente hat für uns alles gepasst. Wir wurden behandelt wie Stammgäste und hatten einen sehr tollen Abend. Niko nimmt sich für jeden seiner Gäste Zeit und hat immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen. Das Essen war lecker und die Portionen reichlich. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!
