Wir waren zu viert mit Freunden auf Empfehlung hier essen. Noch nie habe ich solch ein schlechtes, minderwertiges und überteuertes Essen zu mir genommen. Dazu eine Miniportion zu Mond-Preisen! Nichtsschmeckender Krautsalat, von selbstgemacht keine Spur, Fleisch wird nicht auf dem (Holzkohle) Grill gebraten sondern in der Pfanne und ist furztrocken, Gyros, sprachlos, eher Pfannengyros als vom Drehspies (hat ich noch nie bein Griechen), Bifsteak zum kot..., Kartoffelscheiben in Fett getränkt und ungewürzt, irgendwie haben alle Fleischsorten gleich geschmeckt! Die Betreiber interessieren sich nicht für die Gäste, kein Hallo, kein Lächeln. Sitzen zu viert auf der Terrasse mit einer Flasche Jack Daniels, rauchen und spielen für alle Gäste hörbar am Handy. Die Bedienungen geben sich Mühe und können einem schon fast leid tun da diese zum Prellbock für die miserable Geschäftspolitik werden und die ganze Kritik abfangen. Sehr traurig! FAZIT: BILLIGSTE ZUTATEN,BILLIGSTE ARBEITSKRÄFTE ZU SPITZENPREISEN! NEVER EVER

I used to come here some years ago when the food quality, the amount and the service were way better. As I came back this time, it was a big surprise of a very small food portion, to compare with any other Greek restaurants in the city, the quality, and the service with no smiles.

The food itself is good, as is the service, but the prices for a “tavern” are noticeably expensive. Unfortunately, despite the location and quality, I don't think more than €20 for the main courses is justified for Mainz. Even in Frankfurt you don't pay that much.

Souvlaki: kleine Portion! Und pro Spieß hat sich zu den 3 Stücken Schweinefilet auch 1 Stück (vermutlich) Bauchfleisch gesellt. Unerhört! Kartoffelscheiben fad und ölig. Zaziki war muffig. Gigantes als Hauptgericht war ebenso winzig und geschmacklich Untergrenze. Beide Gerichte waren nur lauwarm. Habe noch nie so schlecht griechisch gegessen. Nie wieder!

Der Service ist unaufmerksam und wenig Kompetent. Obwohl das Restaurant leer war, mussten wir ständig auf uns aufmerksam machen, um etwas bestellen zu können. Das Essen war enttäuschend und dem Preis nicht angemessen. Auf unserer Kritik wurde überhaupt nicht eingegangen, sondern einfach zur Kenntnis genommen. Als Gast erwartet man, dass der Chef das Gespräch mit den Gästen sucht. Das war das letzte mal, das wir Gast im Naxos waren. Wir bedauern das sehr, da wir vor dem Wechsel der Pächter, Stammgäste im Naxos waren.

The Naxos Tavern has been a renowned address for Mainz fans of Greek cuisine for decades. The change of ownership hasn't changed anything, on the contrary. Even if some people don't like the rustic atmosphere that has developed over decades, we always feel comfortable. The Georgian landlord is very hospitable, always in a mood to chat and the friendly waitresses are on their toes. We've never had long waiting times here. The food is excellent, really tastes like Greece. The only downer, the relatively high prices, is not the fault of the landlord, but of the excessive government, which, in addition to the planned inflation, has now also increased the tax on catering. You have to be grateful that the quality isn't reduced to keep the price down. Conclusion: we always like to come back.

A fabulous local gem that surprised us with incredible service and wonderful food! We left super full and completely satisfied with fresh ingredients and local love!!

Unfortunately the operator changed a year or two ago - quality is only average, prices are overpriced. For this quality, he should only charge half as much. We definitely won't come back! Answer to the answer: There will be no next time!

Was recommended this restaurant by a surprising amount of locals and other tourists, they said it was some of the best greek food they’ve ever had. So I had to try it. I was not disappointed. I couldn’t believe how incredible the flavors were, it was insane. I’m watering at the mouth just thinking about it. Unforgettable! Staff were very very friendly and helpful. If you’re in Mainz I HIGHLY recommend trying this place out. You definitely will not be disappointed! Thank you so much for such a great experience and food! 10 out of 10!!!!

Such a shame, I've known Naxos for several years and the service and food quality were outstanding! Point!!! Now neither the service nor the food is anywhere near the prices advertised. The waitress doesn't understand half of them, the potato slices come from the kitchen half raw and dripping with grease. The meat at Bifteki is over-seasoned, undercooked and there is no trace of cheese. I'm really sorry because I think inflation and VAT. cause that. But we can't come anymore as long-time regulars, sry 🥲

The very good reviews are not entirely understandable for us. It started with communication with the employee, who didn't understand us. Gyros baked with cheese were unheard of here. After consulting with the boss, he managed it. No fries - ok. But a salad bar or an automatic side salad - none. We don't know that about the Northern Lights. And the ouzo is on the table as soon as you order it. So we ordered two, but in the end they weren't charged - positive. The restaurant's furniture could use some modernization. In addition, there are prices that are significantly higher than in the north and, in my opinion, were too high for Mainz conditions.

The food was good. However: very expensive. We had to wait over 90 minutes for our food even though the restaurant wasn't full. The food didn't come at the same time, my friend was already halfway through when I got my food. Additionally the order was taken incorrectly and the side dishes were mixed up, when we brought this up it was mixed up again. Instead of maybe taking something off our bill as an apology, an additional €6.50 was added. When we raised this, we only got €2.50 back. In total we had to pay €70 for food and drinks. A pity

We discovered Naxos yesterday and were very satisfied. A restaurant that still offers full cuisine after 9 p.m. on a Tuesday is more likely to be the case in Mainz. Exception. The food was delicious, the service was very friendly and we sat comfortably outside. Dogs are welcome 😉

The staffs were soooo soooo good, perfect english, and they do not want to take any tip, very honest staffs and extremely nice. We always choose to eat inside in Germany no matter the weather.. because we do not like to deal with smokers as it is very normal to smoke in public spaces in Germany.

Naxos enttäuscht leider. Schlechter unaufmerksamer Service. Brot nur auf Nachfrage… eine Beilage kam gar nicht. Essen hat auch nicht außergewöhnlich gut geschmeckt. War eher so lala…. Zudem mussten wir fast eine Stunde aufs Essen warten.

There are no reasons not to visit this place.Perfect dishes with rich flavours,friendly service and extremely authentic atmosphere. Gotta mention my favorite meal- Moussaka and also gotta mention that this restaurant holds the award of having the best Moussaka in town, In summery,its a must to check this Taverne,it is impossible to regret it.

If you're looking for a good Greek meal in downtown Mainz, you should stop here! 👍🏻 The prices are still fair, but especially the prices for main courses are quite high... But it's worth it! Reservierungsversemmelung (mehrfach), bestelltes Essen kommt falsch oder gar nicht und nun abschließend auch noch dermaßen die Preise erhöht, dass es schon an Wegelagerei grenzt. Unverschämt! Wir waren „Stammkunden“ dort. Nach dem Besitzerwechsel hat nicht nur die Qualität des Essens , sondern auch die Freundlichkeit des Personals nachgelassen. Wir haben es versucht - vergebens! We have been to Naxos several times and have always eaten well. The price level has always been at the top, but the current prices no longer correspond to an appropriate price-performance ratio! Gyros, a simple dish €20,—, a dry white wine 0.5 liters > €12,— …… everything was very overcooked. As I said, we always ate well but the price-performance ratio is no longer right!!!!! We will therefore refrain from further visits in the future and will no longer make recommendations! … A pity

I have been many times to Greece and the food is authentic - I highly recommend the restaurant. The service is great and the food is delicious.

I would be happy to write something more about it. It took too long before I could order my drink. I had to draw attention to myself. More attention in one group would have been nice. The starters were good. The taste of the food wasn't what I expected. The lamb was tender. What really bothered me was that we smelled a lot like food afterwards.

Super liebe und freundliche Dame (denke die Inhaberin), schönes Ambiente. Reservierung ging ganz unkompliziert über E-Mail und das Essen kam auch schnell und war sehr lecker. Die Auswahl an griechischen Essen war groß. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Super Essen und Service. Ich kann die beiden Einsterne Bewertungen hier nicht nachvollziehen. Das Musaka auf der Karte für 22.90€ ist sehr teuer, aber vielleicht ist es den Preis wert, ich werde es testen.

Good place to eat greek food. The quality of the food was very nice and the quantity was enough for the price they put. The restaurant has a space on the street to eat, but you’re on the street side so not really fancy to be there. The service was a little bit slow but not too much. In general a good place to enjoy some greek food.

We were not told that terminal for credit card payment was out of order, and had to pay cash. Food was delicous, service a bit slow.

Weiß gar nicht wo ich anfangen soll da alles einfach Perfekt war. Obwohl so viel los war kam das Essen sehr schnell an und hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Service war total freundlich und hat auch alle Wünsche erfüllt. Werde auf jedenfall wieder kommen!

Das Essen hat geschmeckt und es wäre alles ok wenn nicht.... Wir waren zu dritt..2 Teller kamen nach na ja 20 Minuten , man hat uns mitgeteilt,dass 1 Teller kommt gleich. Da habe ich noch fast 15 Minuten gewartet. Wir saßen drinnen, fast an der Theke.Jellnerin ist geschätzt 15 an mich vorbei gelaufen. Etwas weniger Salz wäre für mich besser.

Letztes Wochenende habe ich das Restaurant besucht und hatte eine fantastische Erfahrung. Das Ambiente war einladend und gemütlich, was zu einer entspannten Atmosphäre beitrug. Der Service war ausgezeichnet (die Blondine war sauuuu nett)- das Personal war aufmerksam, freundlich und hat sich um alle unsere Bedürfnisse gekümmert. Das Highlight war definitiv das Essen. Jeder Bissen war ein Genuss für die Sinne. Die Auswahl an Beilagen war vielfältig und gut abgestimmt. Die Präsentation der Gerichte war auch schön. Insgesamt war ich von meinem Besuch im Restaurant sehr beeindruckt. Das Essen, der Service und die Atmosphäre waren alle auf einem sehr hohen Niveau. Ich kann dieses Restaurant definitiv weiterempfehlen und werde sicherlich wiederkommen, um weitere kulinarische Genüsse zu erleben. ☺️☺️☺️☺️

Essen ist noch immer gut, aber die Preise sind sehr erheblich angehoben worden. Weit über das was im Einkauf normal ist. Komme schon seit Jahren zu Euch, denke aber, das die Preise nicht mehr passen. Denkt einmal darüber nach. Grüße...........Danke für die Antwort, habe bei Euch kein Fastfood gegessen. Finde aber das ein einfaches Abendessen für 2 Personen für über 80 € schon Recht teuer ist.

Stefan Kolin; Gestern waren meine Frau und ich im Restaurant Taverne Naxos. Uns hat alles sehr gut gefallen. Das Essen ist sehr lecker, die Portionen groß, die Getränke für jeden Geschmack. Wir wurden von zwei lächelnden Mädchen bedient. Das Personal ist sehr höflich und aufmerksam. Danke Ihnen!

Essen war gut 👍 fand es etwas teuer das Ambiente draußen war nicht schön ....und der Service war freundlich könnte aber etwas mehr schauen ob noch was benötigt wird .

Das Essen ist gut, man sitzt auch sehr angenehm draußen und die Kellnerin war auch sehr nett. Die Bierpreise sind sehr hoch für ein Flaschenbier und leider ist es es nicht möglich einen Beilagensalat zu bestellen, wenn es bei dem Essen nicht dabei steht. Positiv ist noch zu erwähnen, dass man mit Karte zahlen kann und es zur Rechnung einen Ouzo dazu gibt.
