We really liked it, very tasty. We'll be back.

Well... we have given up hope of finding a Greek in Germany who can offer anything like the quality of Greece itself. It was ok, but we can't understand the many good reviews. The grilled vegetable plate could have been from Frosta, the meat was too dry and especially the lamb was too old. The potato slices are frozen and the rice with peas is way too thin - what's the point? The best thing was the tzatziki 😋 really good. The “house wines” have nothing to do with the house wines from Greece that I know and come from cheap bottles, just like the Ouzo (standard).. you Greeks can do so much better - Efcharistó! The thing is, I don't have to go out to eat in a restaurant... I can do it at home and it's much fresher...

Very good quality food has a name: (god of wine) Dionysus. Great location with a very nice sense of detail and polite, well-kept service. Come in and off you go. Poli oreo

Our favorite Greek restaurant in Mainz. Friendly and attentive staff. The food tastes very good, whether it's a starter or a main course. We haven't tried a dessert yet.

It was quite empty here on a Monday evening, with only a few tables occupied. I was served quickly and friendly and the food came very quickly. After about 20 minutes. Overall there is nothing to complain about, but it wasn't an absolute highlight either. The food was average good and lacked some personality or a bit more spice. A nice evening without ups and downs and definitely recommended for normal Greek cuisine. Just don't expect too much here.

Food delicious, service great, we'll be back

After we finally found one after half an hour of searching for a parking space (we recommend taking public transport. Finding a parking space is really catastrophic), we were allowed to sit down in this rustic, authentically Greek restaurant. It was a Saturday evening and was accordingly well attended. The service still served us quite quickly at the beginning and we were able to place our order. We ordered baked eggplant with tzatziki as a starter and it was really excellent. The main course was the Hellas plate and the vegetarian alternative was the Kritharaki. Both dishes were delicious and we definitely recommend the restaurant. It's worth a visit! Despite everything, there was one small drawback. In the end we had to wait a relatively long time before we could pay. However, this is probably due to the fact that it was a Saturday evening and the restaurant was very busy at 8 p.m.

Nice restaurant, nice service. Food came quickly. Side salad wasn't really my taste, but tastes are different :). Gyros very tasty. I'd love to come back

The grilled calamari was very tasty. The staff is friendly, the menu is varied and it's nice to sit outside. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity.

Simply great! We have been eating here on and off for years and have not been disappointed. The food is great and the waitresses are very attentive even if you sit a little further back. Everything always arrives correctly and promptly to the customer. The ambience is very nice. Prices have increased slightly, but this is normal in the industry. Simply a great restaurant!

Food mediocre, place seems old-fashioned and worn out, ambience has little to do with Greece, more like a German beer bar. Ouzo came right at the beginning, was lukewarm, I know that from Crete chilled with, for example, some watermelon at the end of the meal.

Wasps plague you outside. The grill plate was lightly seasoned and therefore not very tasty. At least there was a free ouzo.

I don't understand the reviews at all. The food is very very bad and the portions are very small for the price. Since yesterday I have had severe stomach pain. I would NOT recommend the restaurant and would never come back. Terrible

Stayed for a night in Mainz, just around the corner from this restaurant. We gave it a go, juts because it was close by and we like greek food. Moreover it had decent reviews, but it turned out not to be what we expected. To sum it up, a small restaurant for the pensioners in the area (they even have special discounted prices in the menu), but don't go if you know your greek food. Menu seems like it has many options, which was impressive, but the dishes we ordered were very poor: fried calamari was mushy, the gyros plate we got was heavy on potatoes and the meet was burned or too salty (ok, this is a taste thing), while the souvlaki was tasteles ( just pork on the grill). What really annoyed us was the cold mezze platter, which in spite of the many mezzes advertised was heavy on tztatziky and the the taramasalata was an odd pink beans paste. When we asked the (greek-looking) waiter about it, he said it was all made in house and we it has fish roe although we couldn't taste it. He then suddenly forgot he can speak English and ignored us till we paid.

Nachdem wir schlechte Fleischqualität beim Gyros erwischt hatten, essen wir dort nur noch Pizza. Die ist wirklich erste Sahne, sehr guter Belag und der Teig ist einfach Spitze. Wir bevorzugen griechische Pizza weil der Teig nicht so hauchdünn als bei italienischer Pizza ist. Pizza kann man hier sehr gut essen. Leider gibt es Getränke nur in Gläsern, wenn man Flaschen Getränke wie wir bevorzugen, dann findet man es hier leider nicht.

Perfect, romantic, peaceful, and as a visiting 1st timer, the best I have eaten in Germany!

I've been there several times and now I finally have to give a review... Best Greek I know and I can only recommend it. Was there with my visitor from America and for him it was the best restaurant ever!

The food was good, the service was very friendly and accommodating and the restaurant is very cozy and although it is in the middle of Mainz, it is not too loud so you can sit outside and relax. The portion sizes were okay and the value for money too.

We had a business overnight stay in Mainz and used Google Maps to navigate us to the Greek restaurant Unfortunately, I have to say that we haven't eaten so badly in a long time. It's sad what some chefs do with food. It's all just frozen food, not even the potatoes are cut by myself. Unfortunately the gyro was frozen and the squid rings were rubbery and mushy. Only the waiters were very friendly. I'm very surprised that a restaurant like this can survive, it's so easy to cook fresh and you don't do it...

My husband and I ate there for the first time yesterday and I have to say it was delicious! The portion and the price were really great. The waiter was super friendly. We have been to several Greek restaurants but none have performed as well as Dionysos. ONLY RECOMMEND! Thanks to the team :)

Yesterday we went to the restaurant for lunch for the first time. Our daily specials (beef liver, lamb skewer) were very tasty. The starters of tzatziki and bean salad were also very good. Service very good. We were so satisfied that we went back for lunch today. Today we had gyros and calamari. Yummy:). We'll definitely come back when we get there. Are you in town?

Had dinner there yesterday with a business partner. I'm often in Greece and love the country and the people but to be honest, what we had to eat yesterday isn't possible. When we walked into the restaurant I was still relaxed in the restaurant, but I noticed this musty smell, like the damp, musty smell of a cellar that is not dry. We both ordered a salad with chicken and tzatziki in advance. So you might get tzatziki from the 5L plastic jug from the wholesale market, but then you just have to put up with an old, ready-made salad, mushy in ready-made sticky salad dressing with some kind of pressed meat that tastes more like tofu, that's not possible. Any decent Greek would have thrown this in the chef's face. That something like this still exists.

Staying at Novotel so this was the closest restaurant & recommended by reception. Delicious fresh food, very reasonably priced and a great choice.

Unfortunately the lamb chops weren't actually grilled, but boiled and then briefly grilled. The rosemary potatoes were also plain boiled potatoes sprinkled with rosemary spice. Service was inattentive. The prices are very inflated. The visit here is not worth it.

It is a central location that was not very busy when we visited. We got a good place for our round of three. It was a little too cold, but the employee responded quickly to the request to close the doors. The service was quick and good, the food was good and arrived quickly.

We always come with the whole family since my father turned 79. That was in 2016. We love the food, traditional Greek cuisine - garlic bread, bifteki, liver, Apollon plate, tzatziki, lamb chops, moussaka as examples. The hospitality of the staff right up to the boss should also be highlighted! Requests were always addressed, simply great! Simply good for us!! Always happy to come back!

Very good service, cheerful friendliness and courteous behavior seem to be the normal standard in this restaurant. Even short-term reservations are implemented without hesitation, even though it was an evening and the restaurant was very busy. Simply recommended.

Haha, the beer is refreshing, the steak is delicious, the herb butter is delicious, and the French fries are good too. It's the best.

My schnitzel with Metaxa sauce was delicious and served quickly. This is also available as a senior portion. My husband also really liked the liver he ordered. We were served quickly and friendly.

Great find in a very residential neighborhood. It's a classic German Greek restaurant. The food was great with lots of flavors. The service was fast and friendly. The only thing that bothered me was that the chandeliers on every table had light bulbs out. That created the atmosphere of it being a little run down.

Ich wählte diese location auf Grund der guten Bewertungen aber ich war noch nie so schlecht griechisch essen. Der Oktupussalat für 13 Euro würde mit Thunfisch gestreckt und selbst dann war die Portion Mini klein. Das grenzt schon an Unverschämtheit. Das Gyros mit tzaziki und Kartoffeln war ebenfalls viel zu klein für den Preis und geschmacklich nichts tolles.aber der Hammer ist, dass die Bedienung fragte ob alles ok war und keinerlei Reaktion zeigte auf meine Beanstandung hin. Ein NoGo meiner Meinung nach. Das war das erste und letzte Mal, dass ich hier gegessen habe.

Klassisches griechisches Restaurant deutscher Vorstellung. Ruhige Lage mit der Möglichkeit bei gutem Wetter draußen zu sitzen. Das Ambiente wirkt m.E. etwas angestaubt. Der Service war okay, jedoch nicht besonders aufmerksam. Zum Essen: Bekannte Platten mit diversen Fleischsorten. Die Lammspieße waren saftig, zart und lecker. Enttäuscht war ich von den lieblos dargereichten Rosmarinkartoffeln. Der Beilagensalat bestand aus Eisbergsalat, einer Olive und Dressing, in Summe war er unterdurchschnittlich. Fazit: Solides Restaurant, kann man hin gehen; verpasst nichts wenn man es nicht macht.

Im Restaurant kann man aus einer großen Anzahl griechischer Gerichte wählen. Leider ist der Service etwas langsam, weshalb ich einen Stern bei der Bewertung abziehe. Dafür ist das Essen sehr schmackhaft, so dass sich der Besuch im Dionysos dennoch lohnt.

Wir waren eine Woche in Mainz zum Urlaub und 3 mal hier im Dionysos zum Essen. War wie immer super lecker. Wir kommen wieder.

The waiter was rather abrupt and not exactly friendly. You get a kind of salad starter. Iceberg and grated carrot with ranch dressing.. but there is an olive so that makes it Greek! Lol. Some of the meals we had were accompanied with traditional Greek frozen veg, the crinkle cut carrot variety. It’s very meat and potato heavy as you come to expect in Germany. I’ve been disappointed here 3 times so I think that’s enough chances.. if you’re German I guess this is about a 4.5 star place, if you’re from a country with good food… it’s a 3 at best. My recommendation? There is a better Greek place down in town called Naxos. Or you could try the Korean place just near here. It’s way better. Positives - there are discounts for seniors and the decor is so ugly it’ll make you smile.

Schade das die Tradition nicht behalten wird, daß man beim Griechen vor dem Essen ein Ouzo bekommt und schade das man nicht mehr satt wird. Portion haben deutlich abgenommen. Seniorenteller habe ich zumindest nicht bestellt.

Sehr gutes griechisches Essen zu fairen Preisen, das Lokal ist sehr geräumig und eignet sich daher auch für größere Gesellschaften. Gut besucht daher besser reservieren. Kein Ruhetag.

Das ist, weil in der Nähe des Novotel, ein Restaurant, was kein Überraschungen bietet. Es gibt sogar noch Seniorenteller. Kenn ich nur noch aus den 80ern. Fleisch ist durch, dazu Kartoffelscheiben und einen Klecks Tzatziki, dazu ein lokales Bier und einen Ouzo vorweg. Satt wirste allemal. Gewürze wären toll. Die Einrichtungen ist, ebenso wie die Toiletten, etwas angegraut. Dabei bedienen junge Leute. Was daraus wohl wird? Ich werde es nicht erfahren.
