The ingredients are of excellent quality. This sets Taverna Avli apart from other "Greek" restaurants, which all offer more or less the same thing and are barely distinguishable from good snack bars. Here, good quality is offered, but the lively atmosphere is something you have to appreciate and accept...

Nice restaurant with uncomfortable outdoor chairs, but a bit run-down. They're probably resting on their reputation in the city. My meal was disappointing. Half a sea bream fillet had burnt skin, and the Greek yogurt wasn't creamy, tasting too strongly of orange cysts. There were hardly any walnuts, but there was a piece of shell. No comparison to Yamas.

This wasn't our first visit there, but after a long break, the experience was very poor. We were a group of seven. The two men serving were visibly overwhelmed and seemed stressed. Small, closed bottles of Coke were placed on the table, and glasses in the middle of the table. It was self-service. Taking our orders was also unpleasant, as we were rushed and there were unfriendly faces whenever our order didn't come right away. After a reasonable wait, the food arrived almost immediately, although small requests like mayonnaise were forgotten and we had to wait again until the waiter finally arrived; by then the fries were only lukewarm. The worst, however, was yet to come. A friend at the table unfortunately didn't get her food. The waiter came after the others at the table had already had theirs for 10 minutes and informed us that the sea bream would take another 2-3 minutes. After another 15 minutes – everyone at the table had almost finished their meals – the waiter came back and announced that he was having trouble with the kitchen and the sea bream wasn't coming. When asked if she wanted something else, there was no menu or apology. Our friend asked again if there were any problems with the sea bream or with the kitchen in general. The waiter's response was, "Would you like something else?" At least our friend wanted to see the menu. The waiter handed over the menu and remained standing at the table, which again prompted her to hurry. She declined another dish, as we had already returned all our empty plates. Not a word of apology was offered. The obligatory ouzo at the end came in the following form: A small carafe filled with ouzo stood on a tray, along with a corresponding number of empty glasses. This tray was placed silently in the middle of the table. Self-service. It has also been said that the prices are unreasonable. Two small pieces of bifteki with a portion of fries for €22 is way overpriced, especially when the service isn't above cafeteria standards. Sorry, but our group will avoid this place from now on and will never recommend it to anyone. The evening ended in frustration for us, and there was no sense of comfort; more of a feeling of being dismissed. Thanks – that's it.

Avli is always worth a visit; it's my trusted Greek restaurant. I've been coming here since 2010. Highly recommended for outdoor seating; the garden area is fantastic.

All the dishes were extremely delicious, and Avli's courtyard is one of the most beautiful dining locations in Bochum city center in summer.

It was the first time I went and I will definitely go back many more times. Very nice and warm place with excellent food and service, kind and smiling staff and owners of the shop.

There's a very nice courtyard here, where you can sit comfortably. The service is good, and the food was also delicious. All in all, there's no reason for complaint.

Located in the heart of Bochum's city center, tucked away in a courtyard with Mediterranean charm. The outdoor area is covered and can be used even on cooler days thanks to the heaters. We were lucky enough to get a free table there on a Saturday evening. The ambiance is very appealing, and the rather small menu features meat and fish dishes, as well as vegetarian options, at quite reasonable prices. The only downside was that the friendly service was always slow and could perhaps do with a couple more servers. We both found the noise level a bit too loud, but that's probably due to the location in the courtyard. All in all, however, we had a lovely evening with delicious food and certainly won't be the last time we dine there.

Unfortunately, the food was very poor and had no Greek touch at all. I went there with my wife for dinner. It's a nice place in a backyard. The waiters seem stressed. I can live with everything, except for how bad and un-Greek the food was: - Very small appetizers, but decent prices - Hardly any olive oil in the salad - Bifteki was more like a butcher's meatball - Souvlaki had tomato sauce on it - Rice was rock hard We paid a total of €90 for food that would have tasted much better at our regular Greek restaurant (an upscale restaurant with a great, modern atmosphere) and cost at most half the price. I wouldn't recommend it.

Always friendly and authentic. Sometimes things get a bit chaotic when it's busy, leading to mixed-up orders or unclear orders (something ordered as an appetizer but served as the main course, etc.). The food is really good, lovingly presented and prepared, and the setting in the courtyard is very pleasant. In addition to the regular menu, there is also a daily special with changing dishes. The restrooms are clean.

There were three of us at the Avli Taverna and we received a very warm welcome. The food was very good (starter and main course). There is a regular menu and a rotating menu, each with typical Greek meat dishes, but also fish dishes (sea bream, salmon), and a small vegetarian selection. The food and drinks arrived quickly and were very tasty. The restaurant is located in a back courtyard and was very busy. This naturally made it a bit noisy, but it also created a lively Greek holiday atmosphere. However, we were still able to have a good conversation. The excellent and warm service is particularly noteworthy – all the staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful – without being intrusive. We even got a small dessert and an orange soda on the house to try. We would love to come back.

We sat outside under the canopy and enjoyed every moment. The tamarara salad and vine leaves for starters were delicious. The grilled octopus with hummus for the main course was simply sensational! A good wine to go with it – and an ouzo to finish, as is fitting. Great food, a fantastic atmosphere, and a place where you feel at home. We'll definitely be back! Highly recommended!

The quality remains good. However, the prices have now become excessive. This is probably why only about 50% of the seats were occupied on Saturday evenings. The souvlaki skewers in the photo, with fries and a side salad, cost €23.40...

Very tasty Greek food. The ambience is a typical Greek restaurant with ancient Greek murals. The beer garden was very popular during my visit. Sure, it is centrally and at the same time quietly located in a green courtyard. The P2 Dr.-Ruer-Platz underground car park is just a few steps further and is also close to the main station.

A small Greek oasis in the middle of Bochum city center. Our regular and favorite restaurant. Here you get the best quality at a reasonable price. When I have friends from all over the world visiting me, this is my flagship tavern. It is most beautiful in summer when the outdoor area is open. I recommend a visit to anyone who wants to embark on a culinary journey. And in addition to the great ambience and delicious food, I have rarely experienced such excellent service. A very nice restaurant with friendly, fast staff. The quality of the food on offer is excellent, beautifully presented and the taste is really top! We had dinner there with ten people and reservations had to be made in advance. The service was quick, our dishes arrived at the same time and requests or changes were addressed without any problems. Highly recommended for groups or couples, great atmosphere in the restaurant and on the terrace. We'd love to come back

Are on recommendation to Taverna Avli. The reservation went very well, but we then found a place in the covered area in front of the actual restaurant. The well-kept and spacious ambience, the friendly service and the food convinced us - great! We'll definitely come back here soon (in December at the latest with two couples who are friends of ours).

My partner and I drove from Castrop-Rauxel to Bochum to visit this well-known Greek. Ordering food and drinks went quickly at first, but then the waiting began. After 30 minutes without food we became skeptical, after 45 minutes we politely asked the waitress when our food would arrive. To our horror, she informed us that the order had not been prepared yet and that she would have to take it again. It was clear that we had simply been forgotten, although the waitress definitely should have noticed that we were sitting there without food. Something like this is unacceptable to us. There was no compensation whatsoever, not even our drinks were waived. We paid and then moved on to find a restaurant that wouldn't forget us. Absolutely disappointing, we definitely won't be coming back here.

Ambiance like a typical Greek tavern with excellent Greek cuisine, both traditional and modern for all tastes. A warm welcome from the owner Vassili while the boss literally works her magic in the kitchen. You can also sit outside in the courtyard (Avli) in autumn and in the moderately cold winter months. The staff are friendly and always keep a friendly smile on their faces.

Gourmet steak plate much too small for the price. If it were high-quality meat, I would still turn a blind eye, but it was just typically Greek. The ouzo is nice and is poured from a carafe at the table at the end. Ambience also quite good.

When asked to book a table (3 months in advance) they didn't even look at the calendar but immediately replied with "the month is fully booked". Too bad!

Taverna Avli is definitely worth recommending. Food: super delicious! Small menu, but something for everyone. Whether vegetarian or with meat/fish. Service: Always in a good mood. Friendly. Of course, if the restaurant is very full, you have to be patient. But which good restaurant doesn't have to do that?! Ambience: harmonious! Authentic! It's a bit louder, common among Greeks and southerners! That's what makes the atmosphere good!

Das Ambiente war sehr schön, man konnte bei dem guten Wetter schön draußen sitzen. Es war zwar sehr lebhaft weil gut besucht, aber das gehört an einem Samstagabend dazu. Allerdings barg dies auch das Problem, dass der Service nicht immer auf der Höhe war; uns kam es so vor, als wenn min. zwei Kellner zu wenig unterwegs waren. Das Personal war bemüht, wirkte aber überfordert. Das Essen war solide, leider waren die Tintenfischringe teilweise ein wenig zäh. Und die Köchin war frisch verliebt ... ! ;) Insgesamt ein gelungener Abend, auch wenn wir auf das eine oder andere Getränk etwas länger warten mussten.

We have been going to Avli regularly and with pleasure for years. The food is always tasty and of good quality. The prices are a little higher, but quite reasonable. The staff is friendly, works very quickly and with experience.

Very nice restaurant. Food tastes quite good, portions are too small for my taste (especially for the price-performance ratio) and the meat was very dry. Some of the staff do not speak German and there is confusion when serving food. Older waiter shouts at the younger waiters in Greek in front of the guests and rushes them around, which I didn't really like.

You feel like you're on vacation and the food was great

The atmosphere is quite nice, especially you wouldn't expect something like that in the middle of the city. Since it was very busy, the service was poor. We had to wait a long time for everything and one or two orders were completely forgotten. Eating went like this. Portions were also very manageable. It was nice, but I personally don't have to go there anymore. Sorry.

The service was terrible: absolute overload, orders were hardly possible - unless you reminded them regularly - and payment was only possible after multiple requests after a long time, incorrect invoicing, etc. Although the food (starters) were good, it was Main course not particularly good. The Kikok chicken breast fillet was burnt, the souvlaki was dry, the minced steak was good but, as we know, minced meat doesn't need any special attention. Overall I found it disappointing. 13 p. P. The starter plate, 22,- p. P. The main course, 1 beer, 1 water and ouzo made 54 euros per person and at least 2 chip shops in Bochum Hamme can do better. In this respect, for light personally, despite the outside terrace, not worth repeating...

After several years we were back at Taverna Avli. The restaurant has now also been visually renovated. Unfortunately, the background noise in the well-filled restaurant is very stressful due to the strong reverberation. I remembered the quality of the food better from my previous visits. Overall, no real improvement. But the service was friendly and quick.

Went there for dinner with several people. The drink order was taken quickly and served quickly, as was the food. Everyone received their food more or less at the same time. Thumbs up, nothing to complain about! Unfortunately, my meal (Pikilia steaks - pork, chicken, beef) was a disappointment. The menu stated it was 300g, but in reality it was 3 small pieces with a total of a maximum of 150-180g of meat. The beef was also very tough. In terms of taste, everything (the little bit on the plate) was ok, but absolutely nothing special. Simple average. Plus a few fries. A joke for a good €25. I get MORE from the delivery service for €12 in at least the same quality! Overall, all portions were a bad joke. All grilled dishes also come with a side salad on the menu. However, all of the grilled dishes we ordered were served without salad. Unfortunately, we didn't notice the salad until after we had eaten, as it was only mentioned in small form on the menu. The others weren't really happy with what was offered either. Overpriced for what is offered, both in terms of taste and quantity. Senior plates at normal prices are the best. After the meal, you weren't asked if you wanted something to drink... Of course you should vacate your seat quickly. It's also a joke that there is no "classic" drinks menu. You can only access this via a QR code that you can scan on the menu. Prices are not even stated on the drinks menu! That is not how it works! Maybe the prices will then go according to sympathy?! All in all not recommended! P.S. There is no gyros... A Greek where there is no gyros... I can't think of anything else about that. The store probably wants to be more elegant than it is.
