Restaurant Sorbas in Bochum

We were a group of 11 and ate at the restaurant and were absolutely satisfied! The food was very good, the service was also very good, although you should be understanding if you have to wait a little while as it's a small establishment! But you really feel comfortable there!

We've been here several times now and simply can't say anything bad. The food always tastes great. The dishes are generously portioned, so we've never managed to finish dessert. Delicious bread is also served to us at our table every time. The owner/server is very nice. The ambiance just needs some work. It's not perfect, but we still feel comfortable and will of course come back.

On March 29, 2025, six of us went to Sorbas Bochum. We were all disappointed and dissatisfied with the service and especially the food. The entire meal was inedible, and one dish actually stood out so negatively that it had to be returned: it was a kind of casserole of pasta, tomato sauce, and cheese. The reality was a watery, microwaved mush. My gyro with bifteki and fries for €20.50 was a disgrace. The portion and quality were substandard. Furthermore, the overpriced appetizers were a culinary journey through the convenience food section. The returned dish was removed from the bill.

Lamb plate with four lamb chops, 1 piece of fillet, a skewer, side dish, salad for 18 euros. Very tasty, filling, great price-performance ratio. All of my friends' other dishes also looked great and sumptuous. Everyone enjoyed it. The landlady is very friendly and authentic. I would like to visit the restaurant again with family or friends.

Very good and cheap Greek. Lots of regulars. If it takes a little longer, the landlady will say so in advance. Here the boss still cooks himself and does it really well. If you don't necessarily like Greek, you can go for the schnitzels. The restaurant has been around for over 25 years and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Fiege is in the bar. The portions are huge and there are containers to take away the leftovers.

Here you can eat absolutely excellently and cheaply 👍😋👍 Without reservation between 5 p.m. and Nothing works at 8 p.m. 😃

If you want to eat good and plentiful Greek food, you're in good hands here. The ambience seems a little outdated. You feel like you are traveling back in time to the last century.

Yesterday (07/19/24) I spontaneously decided to celebrate my birthday there with my wife or just have a fancy meal. We got a table without a reservation and were served in a very friendly manner by both the waiter and the boss. My wife had a grill plate and I had the Idi plate with rice instead of fries (which wasn't a problem) Drinks were brought very quickly and the schnapps we got went down like oil 🤤 Salad was fresh and very tasty. The food was also very, very tasty. All the meat was particularly delicious especially the lamb. And because I couldn't finish my meal, I even got a bowl and some aluminum foil. The prices are really fair considering the portions, the quality and the great service. I would particularly like to highlight this great, cozy guest room, you immediately feel at home. Thanks to the entire team for this great experience ❤

if you like Greek food you should go to SORBAS in Bochum. Very large portions, well seasoned meals, delicious food. Boss and waitress very friendly. Only the ambience is very old - but you go there to eat :)

In this rustic restaurant we became more than just regular guests during our 3 years of training. The rustic decor is so cozy that you almost forget you're not at home - especially when you're greeted by the huge packets of mayonnaise and ketchup that wink at you with their big eyes. The operator is like the good soul of the house - so loving that she even prepares the schnitzels if you just call. The portions are so large they almost defy gravity and so delicious you'll forget how you ever lived without them. And those XXL packs of mayo and ketchup….? I encourage everyone to visit this establishment!

A real Greek! The portions are outstanding and the quality of the food is very good. The ambience is rustic, with high noise levels. More pub charm, but totally ok. We felt very comfortable and were more than full, being decent eaters. Highly recommended if you're looking for good, rich Greek food without any frills.

Mediocre Greek restaurant, not yucky and not yucky. We ate there because we were at Starlight Express in Bochum and the restaurant was only a few minutes' walk from our hotel (H+). Atmosphere ok, but not cozy, service (boss?) friendly but not warm, food was ok so far - however, my wife had a piece of chicken that wasn't cooked yet and I got fries even though I ordered rice (there wasn't much going on in the restaurant, you could have remembered...) When we paid, there was no invoice, just “It costs €xx”… I don’t know that either? Conclusion: You can go, but I'm used to something different from “our Greeks” in the area...

Unfortunately no stars worth it except the landlady, super dear woman... Unfortunately I can't recommend it, fries don't taste good, bifteki are very greasy. Portions are large but not tasty, the tzatziki needs to be seasoned, no garlic. Ambiance is not cozy either, no music, everything is very old... It has something of a quick snack. However, service is good and friendly, but if you want delicious Greek food, you should look for another restaurant.

Hello Ms. Bretz, please excuse me, but I think you were at the Sorbas restaurant on Castroper Straße, there are two restaurants named Sorbas. We were there too and it was exactly as you described it. VG

The taste of the food was okay and very plentiful.

So many reservations that we had to wait outside. We can't judge the food because when we asked, we were immediately told to eat within 2 hours, that won't work, it's too full. We (and others) went there again. So either accept fewer guests or have enough chefs and other staff. Impudence! 1 star not too much

Großartiges Essen, eine der besten Gyros die ich je gegessen habe. Dazu noch die großen Portionen und der Preis. Preis Leistung, gerade in der aktuellen Zeit unschlagbar.

Grillteller reicht für 2 Personen und die überbackenen Bifteki waren großartig. Inhabergeführt, mega freundlich, Ouzo beim warten auf Haus und preislich auch super. Komme auf jeden Fall bald wieder.

Mit Freunden da gewäsen und als wir da reingingen wurde sofort erwähnt wie lange wir bleiben. Wir mußten auf unsehr Essen seher lange warten. Die Salat Mischung war sehr groß, aber mir schmeckte er nicht. Als das Essen kam war es warm, der Girus Teller war sehr groß und gut. Preislich war es vol okay. Der Service war jetzt nicht so der Hit. Aber das Restaurant hätte mal eine Renovierung nötig. Mein Restaurant war es nicht.

Ambiente: spartanisch bis ungemütlich und in die Jahre gekommen Service: durchaus Luft nach oben Essen: gut, meist mit leckerem Salat und gutem Dressing, Gerichte, die man in einem griechischen Restaurant erwartet. Wir waren heute zum 1. Mal hier und mit Sicherheit nicht das letzte Mal. Sehr leckeres Essen, dazu ein sehr guter Preis und riesige Portionen! Da kann man glatt eine Portion für 2 Bestellen oder- da jetzt das "Mehrwegegeschirr" gesetzlich auf den Weg gebracht wurde und sie nun kein Essen mehr zum Mitnehmen anbieten, - selbst Geschirr/Schalen mitbringen. Die Besitzerin und das Personal ist auch sehr nett. Dankeschön für das leckere Essen und die herzliche Bedienung. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Positiv aufgefallen ist, dass die Speisen sehr groß und reichhaltig waren. Auch geschmacklich war es ganz gut. Leider wirkt das Ambiente schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen und wir fühlten uns auch nicht besonders willkommen im Resturant

Super Service! Wir waren vor einem Besuch bei Starlight Express dort und haben sehr schnell unser Essen bekommen. Es hat sehr gut geschmeckt und das Personal war sehr nett und aufmerksam!

Über eine Stunde auf matschig Kalamari zu warten war schon schlimm genug, aber es gab nicht mal ne Entschuldigung dafür. Und wir waren an dem Abend nicht die einzigen unzufriedenen Gäste.

Alles in Ordnung. So kann man es zusammenfassen. Hatten verschiedene griechische Gerichte zur Mittagszeit, wobei davon alle okay aber nichts Besonderes waren. Positiv zu erwähnen ist dass es quantitativ viel Essen war, so dass auf jeden Fall jeder satt wird. Das Ambiente war schlicht, erwähnen sollte man dass bei meinem Aufenthalt eine störende, wenn auch nicht besonders laute Geräuschkulisse im Hintergrund herrschte, die sich leicht durch Musik hätte übertönen lassen. Leider aber keine Musik. Insgesamt war Nichts davon schlecht, aber auch Nichts dabei was mich anreizen würde nochmal hinzugehen.

Hier lohnt es wirklich hin zu gehen. Super freundlich, das Essen ist gut und reichlich.

Die Gaststube ist einfach gehalten ohne unnötigen Schnick Schnack. Das Essen war sehr lecker, die Portionen riesig und die Preise vollkommen okay.

Das Essen ist reichhaltig und günstig, die Einrichtung ist altbacken und die Chefin also Inhaberin gewöhnungsbedürftig. Aber trotzdem kann ich Sorbas empfehlen.
