Taste of India Restaurant in Hannover

We've eaten there over 20 times, and the food is prepared with passion every time. It's rare for restaurants to maintain such consistent quality. Occasionally, we even get something free to try. The staff is always respectful and friendly. However, the interior of the place could be a bit more developed. I was a bit disappointed with the tea making facilities, though, as they use tea bags.

The food was truly delicious, which made it all the more frustrating that the delivery took about 90 minutes yet again. We won't be ordering there again for that reason. However, anyone who eats there or is willing to accept long waits won't be doing anything wrong, as the food, as mentioned, is really good.

A very nice little shop. The decor is well-executed, but it could be better. Nevertheless, we'd happily go back. The food was very, very tasty and the portions were generous. We couldn't finish our two. The price/performance ratio is also good. The service, although a bit slow, is worth it. We'd gladly go back.

It was absolutely the right decision to eat there. 😍 I found the service really friendly and the food incredibly delicious, especially since there were so many different options. Whether you preferred spicy or mild, I liked the butter chicken and naan bread the most. 👍🏼 Great value for money too!

A great experience with warm, fresh and aromatic food to fulfill all your cravings! The atmosphere was cozy with easy talk and laughter going around. Best dishes were papri chat with just the right amount of spice and crunch, steaming hot chicken achari and chicken tikka and melt-in-the-mouth cheese naan which were a perfect combo for a chilly rainy evening.

Great and, above all, authentic place to enjoy delicious Indian food.

The best part was, there was enough for everyone. I was already feeling the first signs of a stomach ache during the meal. I had to take three days off work, but the taste was worth it. I aged 70 years while I waited for the food. However, because they were out of my exact dessert, the nice Indian waiter brought us an extra Mango Lasa as a gift. A true gentleman. A screaming baby was sitting directly across the table, and another little Indian boy was loudly playing Clash Royale. It added to the atmosphere, like the chef had spit in my soup. It's still one of the top four food spots in all of Hanover.

I go there quite often as i love nearby. Food is of EU taste, as a indian i miss little spices sometimes.

The food here is excellent – ​​when it actually arrives. You order and have enough time to learn a new hobby, raise a child, or run a marathon on the side. After three hours, the driver finally rings – I swear, he probably walked there, maybe even barefoot. It tastes really great, but if you're hungry, it's better to order yesterday so it arrives on time today.

I've been here several times for a reasonably priced lunch (three decent bowls, with or without meat) and have always been satisfied. Today, at 3:30 PM, they were no longer serving lunch, so I looked at the (really extensive) menu and ordered palak paneer, Indian cheese with spinach in a metal pan. Excellent! I like to eat this dish at various Indian restaurants, and this was truly the best so far. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes and will be back!

I think they have the best naan I've ever eaten here, and the curry is always delicious. I can only recommend it! +The last time I ordered, they gave me free chutney, which was also really delicious :)) I'll definitely come/order more often!

Good butter chicken with fluffy basmati rice and plenty of meat in a delicious sauce, which convinced us to order here more often. The stuffed crispy pani puri balls were nicely crunchy (vegetarian appetizer tip!), as were the poppadoms. Along with our ordered dips and raita, we also got a free chutney to try. The delivery arrived within the promised 50-minute timeframe; everything was fresh, warm, and crispy.

Really good Indian food! We were there for lunch and had the lunch special – one vegetarian, one with meat – plus vegetarian biryani. Everything was super delicious and flavorful. The naan was fresh and went perfectly with it. I eat Indian food quite often, especially in Hanover, but I've rarely experienced such well-seasoned food. No comparison to the often-customized tastes. I'll definitely be back!

The food is always delicious, authentic, and full of flavour, just like we get back home. The service is consistently excellent. The staff are friendly, polite, and always make us feel welcome. It’s clear they put care into both the food and the customer experience. This has become our go-to place whenever we crave real Indian food. Highly recommended to anyone looking for tasty, traditional Indian cuisine in Detmold!

We had our food delivered again, and it worked perfectly. After the first few bites, all we could hear was...mmmhhh...

Somewhat disappointing. Prices were rather high and the atmosphere was awful. Only the chef spoke German. The paneer was generally good, but something was off. The naan was fresh and tasty. The surcharge for credit card payments also seems cheeky and out of step with the times, in my opinion.

The restaurant is located in a busy area, and despite the large number of guests, the preparation time was quick. I can say with complete conviction that the quality of the food is of a truly high standard. The portions are also quite generous. We were absolutely satisfied and will definitely return.

Your Peshawari naan is fantastic!!! I haven't had such a delicious naan, filled with coconut and raisins, anywhere in 20 years. Thank you for that 😊 The chicken korma and the lamb biryani were both very tasty 😋! We loved the contrast between the sweet chicken and the spicy lamb... and the generous amount of cashews. We'll be happy to order again 😃!

The food was fine but kulfi was too bad— they didn’t give us bill. When asked they gave us after some time but had wrong items with extra charges so we paid like extra

In May, the five of us celebrated our son's birthday at the restaurant! Large, hot portions, very tasty and traditionally served (amazing)! Just one note: please keep the entrance door closed, as many cars and trams drive past the Schwarzer Bär.

Monday, restaurant almost empty. 15 minutes until the service comes. Rude, impatient. When I ask to keep a card at the table, it is snatched away from me without a word. Parts of the order were forgotten. The same service at the neighboring tables was noticeably friendlier. Do people simply not like “poor” students here? The food itself is very tasty.

Every time we order there, I get Delhi Belly with cramps and pain in my upper abdomen, and I can normally tolerate very hot and spicy food. Apparently, the hygiene leaves a lot to be desired... I won't order there again.

A very good Indian restaurant with authentic cuisine. The food was very good, only the mango lassi was a bit plain; but not bad. Despite the restaurant being full, we were served quickly and didn't have to wait long for our food. The service was friendly and courteous, but when we paid: everything was calculated using a calculator and we didn't receive a decent receipt, which left a dubious impression in retrospect. Apart from that, we really liked it here.

Very very disappointing! There were four of us in this restaurant. The chicken wasn't cooked properly. And now comes the kicker. When we wanted to pay we were told €80. When I wanted a receipt for the hospitality, we had to wait almost 15 minutes for it. And look, not €80 but only €78.60! They advertise that everything is Halal and take our word for it and simply round up the money as a tip! What a disgrace! We also ate and were entertained on site. That's why the receipt should also show 19% VAT and not just 7%! Will definitely not visit this store again!

Very disappointing – not recommended! We were very disappointed with our visit to Taste of India. Firstly we were asked to change our seat so 12 other guests could sit, which was just rude and poorly planned. Unfortunately the food wasn't any better either. The samosas were fried for far too long, so they were far too oily - and for the price of only 2 pieces! The staff was rude and ignored our requests. We had to ask for new cutlery three times! We also had problems with communication - when we asked about dessert, the owner just handed us the bill without understanding what we wanted. The restaurant was overall unhygienic: the toilet was dirty and the tables also left something to be desired. And as if that wasn't enough, we all had stomach aches afterwards and the famous Delhi Belly - clearly a sign of poor hygiene and inedible food! All in all it was a very bad experience and unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.

The food never arrived. After waiting for 3 hours post order confirmation, restaurant informed that they don't deliver to our place. 3 hours after confirmation. Zero accountability, order at own risk.

The service was unfriendly and ignorant, the food tasted a disaster - cold, bland and obviously not fresh. But the worst thing was the hygiene: dirty tables, sticky menus and a disgustingly unkempt toilet. As if that wasn't enough, my change was simply kept as a "tip", without my consent! A bottomless impudence. I'll never eat here again - absolutely not recommended!

We ordered here and were very satisfied! The food was hot, fresh and full of flavor. The Butter Chicken and Chicken Korma in particular were super creamy and well seasoned. The chicken tikka was nice and tender and the samosa was crispy and delicious. Delivery was quick and the portions were generous. We would be happy to order again!

Lamb Korma is really incredibly tasty here. The naan breads are also always super fresh. Usually deliver faster than stated. This time we even got a free chutney to try. There was also a handwritten thank you note from the restaurant. We have always been very happy with the food! Great recommendation!

Want to waste your money, visit this restaurant. The food is fake. We ordered for example Chicken Karahi and they brought a tasteless chicken curry as if we don't know Chicken Karahi. You won't regret my advice, if you avoid visiting this restaurant.

The food was really excellent, tasted delicious! We became aware of the restaurant through advertising on TikTok and had high expectations. Unfortunately the service was disappointing. The drinks – a Mango Lassi and a Cola Zero – only came after the meal, which unfortunately significantly diminished the enjoyment. During the meal we also tried several times to make eye contact with the waiter in order to order additional bread, but only after we were almost finished. Not only was this frustrating, but it was also a missed opportunity for the restaurant to make more sales. In addition, when paying we were told that cash was preferred - which seems a bit strange these days. I really hate writing a review like this and try to look at the situation realistically: the food was great, but unfortunately the service really spoiled our experience. It's a shame, especially since we were expecting an overall positive experience from the TikTok advertising.

I've been to this place at least 5 times in the past 12 months, and the food has always been great, I can never complain about it. However, tonight I invited a friend there for dinner and right after we ate we were asked to pay and leave the restaurant, because there were two other people waiting for a table to get free. I told the waiter we were not done yet and we'd like dessert and tea, he replied saying no this table is reserved, which is an absolute lie, because nothing was showing that the table was reserved and he never mentioned that as we sat in the first place. Imagine inviting a friend who traveled from Bremen to see me, and after 25 minutes in the restaurant, we get asked to leave the place. NEVER AGAIN

I/we were thrilled!!! There were 5 of us + 3 small children there. The service was very friendly (also great with the children), helpful and attentive. The food was really delicious (also halal, for anyone interested) and very tasty. In addition, everything was very clean (including the toilets, which I always pay close attention to). Plus, everything was great for the price of the food! Conclusion: we have a new insider tip that we will only visit regularly 😍
