Guru List - neue indische Zeiten in Hannover

I used to go to the Guru Restaurant several times and was satisfied with the taste and price of the food, but in recent years the quality of the food has fluctuated increasingly and I increasingly had the feeling that there was no longer enough emphasis on hygiene in the kitchen is generally laid. For Christmas 2023 I picked up food to take away, which I ate with my family in the evening. The following night, the food made me sick and I vomited a total of three times. Due to this extremely unpleasant experience, I will no longer visit the Guru restaurant, also to avoid further harmful consequences for myself. The restaurant's furnishings are certainly attractive and tasteful, but what use is a nice ambience to me as a guest if I later have to vomit from the food because the hygiene is not in order. I also find the price-performance ratio disproportionately expensive, considering the quality offered. My constructive criticism of using at least some organic food in the kitchen was never implemented, and my suggestions, for example, to offer healthy sweetening alternatives such as honey or birch sugar for tea, were never implemented. In fact, I'm no longer willing to spend that much money on conventionally processed food. The service in the restaurant depends very much on the person, so there are some service staff who are quite committed and courteous, while other people - especially the two brothers who work there as employees - are unfriendly and often at the counter/entrance area to the kitchen in a disrespectful manner talk about some guests. After all this, I can no longer recommend the restaurant, especially because of its inadequate hygiene, which I find very unfortunate.

Limited varieties. Lam meat is of moderate quality and dry tast. Nan bread are not baked well. The option of Nan with Garlic tastes really nasty. All in all is just moderate quality does not match value of money

The butter chicken was very tasty and we had a wonderful evening! With this weather we could only sit inside. It was busy, a bit cramped and crowded. And it didn't bother me. We'd love to come back!

The food is really great. And there are lots of flavors to choose from - no one size fits all sauces. Everything home-cooked. We sat outside. Service seh4 was quick and super nice. It was a very beautiful evening.

We were there yesterday and were able to sit outside in the best weather. The tables run to the left and right of the footpath, which cyclists also use from time to time... That's how it is in big cities when there is a lack of space. That didn't bother us. The service is extremely attentive and some only speak English. We ordered across the menu and give it 5 stars ⭐️. The mango lassi is recommended 🍹 Small changes to the dishes were implemented well and alternatives were offered. Thank you for that 👍

A very good Indian guy that I've been with for many years. There was an in-house delivery service during the Corona period. All meals can be picked up. There is a large selection of vegetarian dishes that are very tasty. Although I eat meat, my favorite dishes here are all vegetarian. The navrattan curry, the kofta curry, potato cakes alloo tikka and the garlic naan for dipping are particularly good. Anyone who eats in the restaurant gets papadums in advance.

Let's get to the best part of the evening: the food. Large portion and very very well seasoned. Beforehand there is a thin bread with two kinds of dips (unfortunately not so tasty) as a greeting from the kitchen. Mango Lassi is great! Food and drinks came super quickly. The service was quite attentive, but I had the impression that I, as a guest, was rather ignored in the dialogue - the "warmth" was missing. About the ambience: despite warm colors and many visitors, it is uncomfortable, hectic and unrelaxed.

Don’t order the Thali plate, the dishes are very small so that two people don’t get full. Our chicken had only two pieces in it. We asked whether it’s possible to get a refill of two small dishes cause we were not full. In the end we were charged extra without having been informed about the additional charge. Also, a bottle of water for 8€ is outrageous.

Good food. The menu has a variety of options. The staff are quite friendly. We had a family dinner there. We ordered chicken tikka masala, roti, chicken biriyani and dessert platter. Everything was nice.

Bei deutschem Essen würde ich sagen gute Hausmannskost. Gibt’s das in Indien? Das Essen war einfach, aber lecker.

Ich war dort mit meiner Familie am 2 Weihnachtstag essen. Der Service dort war super schnell und sehr freundlich. Das Essen war unfassbar gut und hatte die perfekte Schärfe (wer scharfes Essen nicht ankam, dem würde ich hier vielleicht eher abraten) Mich als Veganer hat es umso mehr gefreut, dass ich sogar eine richtige Auswahl hatte.

Sehr leckeres Essen, toller Chef und das vegetarische Menü war super..also ich muss sagen, wir kommen wieder :) Und der Service super nett.

waited for a really long time, about 40 minutes for the two entrees, and I wondered if the rice was cooked freshly :). Lamb chops, lamb flavor is very heavy, the curry is also very authentic, the rice is different from what I usually eat, it was the kind of rice that was clearly separated. Chicken breast curry, should be added coconut milk, milky flavor, with rice. Surprise dessert, this is really recommended, two are hot, one is sea salt ice cream a different flavor. The location is still relatively remote, 1.5km from the train station.

Außergewöhnliche Küche, liebevolle Betreuung der Gäste, schönes Ambiente, stark besucht, gute Kommunikation zwischendurch... Alles in allen - großartig!

Sehr sehr leckere Essen. Es gibt ein ausgesprochen tolles Angebot zum Mittag, mit dem man mehrere Gerichte gleichzeitig Probieren kann. Hat alles wirklich toll geschmeckt und auf Nachfrage haben wir gleich noch eine Extraportion Reis bekommen!

Das Essen war sehr lecker. Wir kamen mit einem Reibach Gutschein. Leider wurde dieser nicht akzeptiert. Angeblich startet das Weihnachtsgeschäft schon am 4.11. Leider zu wenig Reis, sodass wir nicht satt geworden sind.

Wir entschieden uns für das Menü Royal, und das hat nach einem langen Messetag voll gestimmt. Der schöne Abend bei äusserst geschmackvollen Speisen und sehr nettem Service wird stets in bester Erinnerung bleiben. Freue mich schon auf einen nächsten Besuch.

Ich war schon einige Male im Guru, das ist für mich einer der besten Inder Hannovers! Letztes mal waren wir zu dritt da und haben uns die gemischten Vorspeisen geteilt und dazu jeder ein Hauptgericht. Es hat alles verschieden und lecker geschmeckt. Die Gewürze machen jedes Gericht zu was besonderem!

Eines der besten indischen Restaurants ever! Viel Auswahl, super schön arrangiertes Essen, freundliches Personal, toll gewürzt, die Schärfe ist angenehm. Gerne wieder! Achtung Rollstuhlfahrer/Rollatorbenutzer: Vorne gegen 3 Stufen hoch, zur Toilette auch noch eine.

War im Rahmen von einer "Eat the World " Führung dort: es gab eine hervorragende Tomatensuppe, kann ich nur empfehlen

Ein sehr gute und leichtere indisch Küche zeichnet das Restaurant aus. Wir haben bei den letzten Besuchen immer draußen gegessen was sehr angenehm war. Liefern kann man das Essen auch und die Qualität ist identisch. Die Gerichte sind frisch, fruchtig und leicht. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und des Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist ok. Schön ist das 50% der Gerichte vegetarisch ist.

Ein tolles Restaurant mit leckeren Essen. Da die indische Küche so viel zu bieten hat, würde ich mir eine Platte mit 3-4 verschiedenen, kleinen Gerichten wünschen. Das würde die geschmacklichen Erfahrungen stimulieren.

I visited as a solo diner on a warm night. Arriving at about 7:15, all the outside tables were taken so they gave me one inside. The service was friendly. The waitress was apologetic about her English, but I told her is was good enough! My hopes were raised by a really good salad starter with mango, cashews and many other good things. I was less excited by the scampi curry main. It was generous enough, but the sauce could easy have been a reduction of canned tomato soup. I'm sure it wasn't. The beer was cold, the prices were fair. If I go back to Hanover I might try some alternatives before I come back here, but don't let me put you off trying for yourself.

Wir haben das Restaurant durch Eat the World List kennengelernt und waren gleich begeistert. Der heutige Besuch hat uns dann geflasht. Absolut für Vegetarier und Veganer geeignet, doch auch wer Fleisch isst, kommt nicht zu kurz. Typisch leckere indische Küche mit tollen Gewürzen.

Unfortunately, It was far from being a good experience. We arrived we wait 30min for our first drinks and 1h05min for our food !! Ok they brought us some «linsen chips» with 2 dips to help against the starvation. ( only 3 chips by the way ) The service was as you can understand not the fastest. I don’t suggest you to go if you are starving! I ordered as drink sparkling wine Prosecco, not fresh enough, not really sparkling anymore. It tasted like it was from an old opened bottle left in the fridge since days … When finally the main dishes arrived, the waiter gave us “dirty” plates , we could recognize some fingerprints on it, (pity that I didn’t take a proof picture! ) like if a drop of a random sauce fell on the plate and instead to clean with a tissue, the person just cleaned it off with his finger??? My friend asked friendly the waiter if we could get other plates “cleaner” ( let’s not forget we are in Corona times… yesssss Let’s use this prétexte ) . Unfortunately , The waiter did not come back with cleaner plates… and not even with a “sorry” … The food was mediocre, didn’t really taste anything special , but we were so happy to get finally food that we finished everything ! ( we are picky but we don’t waste ) Also we got unlucky with what we ordered. Some mistakes can happen, fine, but with ; wrong salad ? Wrong chicken ? wrong naan? A bit too much for one table ... Anyway we felt already so annoyed by the absence of charme from our waiter and uncomfortable by his attitude. ( the way how he was coming to bring the food not really professional, almost rough giving and taking back the plates ) so to not make it worse we decided to not mention the fact that we didn’t get the “right “ food! At the end of the evening, we still had a good time, because we were between friends, and the terrasse is super nice outside on the street, we could enjoy the nice weather …But I believe we won’t come back in this restaurant.

Für mich - als begeisterter "Indischesser" - der beste Inder in der Stadt. Frisch, nicht von der Stange, kreative Rezepte, die sich auch nicht nur spannend lesen. Danke für die schönen Erfahrungen :-) !

Egal ob geliefert oder vor Ort, das Essen ist immer frisch und lecker. Auf jeden Fall sehr zu empfehlen.

Das war ein super leckeres Essen. Alles war top, die Bedienungen super freundlich schnell und aufmerksam, das Essen ganz toll und die Preise angemessen. Die Parkplatz Situation ist halt doof in der List, so ist es eben. Auf jeden Fall vorher einen Tisch reservieren, wir kommen wieder.

Das vegetarische Essen war wenig genießbar. Die Vorspeisen schmeckten nach nichts, die Hauptspeise nur nach Knoblauch. Außerdem wurde meine Nussallergie vom Kellner ignoriert.

Auf einer Geschäftsreise hatte ich mal Lust auf indisch...nach einer kurzen Wartezeit, nein ich hatte nicht reserviert, wurde ich super höflich empfangen und zu meinem Tisch geleitet...auch trotz vollem, kleinen aber feinen Hause, wurde sich immer angemessen Zeit für einen gekommen. Das Essen war sehr sehr gut und hier ist eine der ersten Anlaufstellen wenn man mal Lust auf indisch hat...rundum zufrieden und die Preise passen für diese sehr gute Qualität...

Bestes indisches Restaurant seit Jahren. Es war alles sehr lecker. Wir werden mit Sicherheit wieder kommen. Leider mussten wir etwas auf das Essen warten. Aber es hat sich gelohnt.
