It was our first time at the Römerhof; I had asked for it for my birthday! Melissa, the boss, served us really well and was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We sat outside on the covered terrace. The beer was served in super-chilled glasses and the food was delicious, home-style cooking. The portions were too big for us! (But in the country, we're used to large, full plates, so this isn't a criticism, just a personal opinion.) Many thanks again to the service, the chef, and the boss, Melissa. My birthday was a success thanks to you! We'd love to come back.

A real recommendation, where the rabbit and the fox say goodnight to each other, in the middle of nowhere. Great roast food, a great team, and you just have to get to know Melissa. A very beautiful, rustic location. The service is outstanding; Melissa does a fantastic job and leaves nothing to be desired. The food didn't take long to arrive, even though it was very busy. The food tasted exceptionally good, and the portions were generous. The waiters were consistently friendly and attentive. We were so impressed that we went back the next day. What was amazing was that Melissa recognized us straight away. We were completely satisfied with everything that day, too. We'll be back at Bostalsee in June, and the Römerhof will, of course, be our first stop. :-) Thanks again to Melissa and her entire team. You're doing a fantastic job.

The rest of the team was also consistently friendly and accommodating. You simply feel welcome and well looked after. The Römerhof is a place where hospitality is still very important – we would definitely come back!

Extremely unfriendly owner! The price/performance ratio is completely out of whack here. Unfortunately, some of the waiters also have very poor German skills and therefore mix up most orders. The quality was also unsatisfactory, and the prices were absolutely outrageous. No thanks!

During our visit, one dish was undercooked in our opinion. Our complaint was initially ignored. Later, the plate was taken to the kitchen for inspection and returned with the statement that the dish was "fine." No alternative was offered. During the subsequent discussion about the bill, the situation noticeably escalated—which is why I called the police. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend the restaurant.

Delicious: warm goat cheese with a delicious roasted vegetable side dish, and chili con carne at its best. Excellent service from the open and friendly staff, and last but not least, Melissa, who takes great care of her guests. See you soon :)

The staff was really great, and the food was delicious. Since the meat wasn't delivered until the morning, it took a few minutes longer, we were informed of this when we ordered. The chef even came to our table to apologize and ask if everything was to our satisfaction.

The whole team is super friendly and helpful. We were checked on regularly. Melissa is very interested in not only having full guests, but also satisfied guests. She regularly came to our table and asked about our well-being. Hospitality that we rarely have here in North Rhine-Westphalia.

We were at Bostalsee with the family and stumbled across this restaurant and were very satisfied. We received a very warm welcome and the service was top. The selection of food is huge and we had different starters and main courses and everything tasted good! The prices are reasonable, but due to the proximity to Bostalsee, they are probably €1-2 more expensive than further out. We really liked the rustic atmosphere with a beer garden and if we're in the area again, we'll definitely come back.

Quick facts: my husband found bad reviews, I found good ones. Since we were hungry, we decided to test the Römerhof on our vacation with four adults and three children. Looking back, in my opinion, the homepage doesn't quite fit the restaurant. Parking wasn't a problem, but it was also raining, it was the Wednesday after Easter, around 12.45 p.m. When we arrived, an older couple was leaving and they were very happy with their food (schnitzel with spaetzle). There were no other guests in the restaurant at the moment, but two other couples followed about 15 minutes apart. The atmosphere is a bit reminiscent of a sports center, the table decorations were nice, you can certainly have fun there in the evenings. There were games and painting supplies for the children, which I found very nice. But I didn't want to let our crawling child crawl. We were brought to a table and were then allowed to change tables, although we didn't fully understand the condition. And the original table was too dark. When we ordered we were told about fresh asparagus. I didn't notice an asparagus menu. Motivated, we ordered spaetzle with fish fingers for the two older children, a Raumer plate for the one-year-old (which was free), then a gratinated toast with asparagus (ham + cheese) for €16.50 plus a side salad and three times a real Viennese schnitzel with potatoes and asparagus (approx. €35 per portion). Since there was only one Wiener Schnitzel left, two of us changed our orders and took breaded chicken breast (or turkey breast, I'm not sure) with asparagus, potatoes and hollandaise sauce (just under €20 + €8.50 for the asparagus). The waitress (the owner) explained to us that he would then book the asparagus in addition to the dishes. After about half an hour we realized that something had gone wrong in the kitchen. Afterwards the other two couples got their food, which surprised us a bit but didn't really bother us, even though we weren't planning on a long visit with the children. After more than an hour we started to get impatient. The boss then came to the table briefly and asked if everything was okay. We let them know that we were getting hungry. From memory I would say that it was definitely 2:30 p.m. when our food arrived. Once fish fingers with spaetzle (spätzle were fried), salad and toast, Viennese schnitzel with fries and no asparagus, he took the plate with him again. When he returned, there were asparagus on the schnitzel and two pieces of breaded chicken breast with fries and beer sauce (as originally on the menu) and asparagus with hollandaise sauce on two separate plates. That's not how we imagined it. At first we send the waitress back with the two plates of beer sauce. The boss brought them back and explained to us that we had ordered it that way. Out of time constraints + politeness (it was probably a misunderstanding) we took the food. It was clear to us that we would get chicken breast without beer sauce if we had ordered hollandaise sauce. We said potatoes fit better with it for us. Basically, I would never have ordered beer sauce. Unfortunately, once the chicken wasn't cooked through, it was replaced straight away, but not without pointing out that it was supposed to look like that and was cooked through. Unfortunately, the asparagus was very soft and the hollandaise sauce tasted like ready-made sauce to us. The two veal schnitzels were very thin, lots of breading, the chicken breast each in small pieces/strips, also with lots of breading. We personally would have preferred this differently, but that is a matter of taste. In the end we paid €140, waited a long time and were half happy. The toast and salad tasted quite good, but were too expensive for our taste, and we weren't impressed with the rest. You'll probably have better luck if you order original dishes from the menu. A smaller map might also help. Too bad.

It was good at first, but: Update April 2025: We came back twice and were absolutely disappointed both times! The food was no longer recommended and the portions were quite small, we don't go there anymore.

We were looking for an alternative to eating at Center Parcs and came across this location. We (2 adults and 2 children) were warmly welcomed at the entrance. The food recommended by the Swabian landlady was what she raved about. Staff and other customers were very fond of children and open-minded. I can only recommend it and we will definitely come back 👍👍👍 Once again, kind regards to the staff from the Hessian guests.

Rustic ambiance with a charming flair! We discovered this restaurant during our vacation. It's a bit out of the way, but the location is very nice. A very extensive and varied menu with something for everyone. The food was very good, especially the meat, which was of noticeably high quality. It was very tasty and the value for money was excellent. I definitely recommend it!

We ate at the Römerhof for the first time on Saturday evening (we became aware of it through a Google review). We made reservations again for Sunday. Why?? Because the food is delicious, the portions are generous and the prices are fair. Particularly noteworthy is the warmth of the owner. You feel welcome from the first moment. We will stop here every time we visit Bostalsee again.

We went here for dinner for the first time today and it was really nice. The owner welcomed us and served us very nicely. The staff was also friendly and the food was great. Our small children were also very welcome, which is no longer a given today. So it was a really successful, nice, cozy evening. Thumbs up for this hospitality. We'll be back.

Today we celebrated our mother's 60th birthday at Melissa's. We arrived and were warmly welcomed with a lovingly decorated table. The food was incredibly delicious. We would like to highlight the Argentinian rump steak, the onion roast and the schnitzel with mushroom sauce. You really notice how much passion Melissa and her team put into their guests. Thank you for the lovely evening!

We really liked the many pictures the children painted on the walls. The service was very attentive and courteous. As a starter there was a delicious olive cream with bread. The delivery of the main course also came very quickly. Price performance for the portion size is right. The salad dressing was also very tasty!

A really sustainable idea, before you get a huge portion and then maybe can't manage it and give it back! We also thought it was a good idea to hang the pictures painted by children on the wall. On friday the 11th of october we went there for lunch. My husband, me and our 14 month old son. It was a nice atmosphere there. We ordered the spätzle for our son. He didn't want it, so my husband and i ate it. Just a hour later we got sick because of it. It is horrible to get food poisoning on our vacation, we were sick for four days. But we were grateful that our son did not eat it. It is quite a shame because the atmosphere and service were good and friendly staff.

We became aware of the Römerhof through Google and there were consistently great reviews! I wanted to spend a nice evening for two with my husband! We were warmly welcomed and served very quickly, the first impression was very good. Unfortunately there was a large music box in one corner, which we thought was far too loud, but there were a lot of regulars sitting at the counter, so that might be ok for them - their feelings vary! Unfortunately the food was a disappointment! My husband's schnitzel was drowned in "paprika sauce" which only tasted like tomato paste, the fried potatoes were inedible, there's no other way to describe it, they were tough and rubbery! I can't complain about my dish, it was ok! There was a couple sitting at the next table who just pushed their food from right to left - they also looked rather unhappy. The many waitresses were still very attentive and often asked how we were. All in all, simply not a place for a romantic evening for two with food that didn't meet our simple requirements Reaction to answer: Yes, it's true we could have said something and the assumption about the people sitting next to us at the table is also completely correct. What's wrong is that we were sitting next to the box! We sat at the other end of the room, it's been 3 weeks since we were with you, I don't think you remember it specifically now. There is delicious home-made food, large portions for a very reasonable price. I can only recommend it to everyone, the staff is super friendly. It's rare to find a place like this these days, where you can eat well, receive very nice service, and you can still afford it.

Excellent home made food with a special touch from Swabian cuisine - spaetzle very strongly recommended!!!! DIVINE!!!! I loved them so much that I was offered a second portion for free (and please note, as an Italian, I am quite difficult with food ;-) ). Overall, nice biergarten (with a good selection of beers AND local wines but also from Baden-Württemberg) in the middle of nature & corn fields, a few hundred metres from the Bostalsee. Very professional and nice staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Ideal also for families with kids and pet-lovers with dogs. Really good vides :-) Melissa, the owner, takes care of each single guest - you are not one of the many, but she and her dedicated staff make you feel not just their occasional guest but a family member! Will come back for sure :-)

The children loved the potato pancakes. The meat was fried to perfection, even the very large side salad was delicious. We sat outside on the comfortable benches. Delicious food, great service, great value for money. Dogs are very welcome. When we got there, our dog was brought a bowl of water and a greeting from the kitchen, delicious fresh pieces of beef. I'm really disappointed 😞 I was still thinking about the previous owner and I have to say that everything was just right, the food was very good and what can I say you felt well looked after there. The cleanliness of the toilet was simply a given. I was happy to go there. To my regret, I can't say that about the week in any way.. I invited my friends and found out that it is not recommended in any way except for drinks.. .The crispy schnitzel whether paprika or cream schnitzel or even the expensive veal schnitzel is really very questionable..I had the cream schnitzel myself and had to hold the fork in my fist to cut it. Unbelievable..The food was a mess in the truest sense of the word In other words...That's why it's a real shame because the ambience is really great...
