We really enjoyed it. It was good value for money, especially considering the convenient location. The burgers and salads were huge.

Unfriendly man at the counter. We were there with the kids to buy an ice cream cone and a coffee to go. Apparently, they don't make enough money from that, because the man at the counter couldn't laugh and was totally unfriendly...

A nice place to have a drink when the weather is nice. It was busy because of an event, so we had to search for a parking spot, but there's usually plenty of parking.

I was there this evening. The food was delicious, the plates well filled. I have to say the service is very positive; the girls were quick, very friendly, and always smiling, which I can't say much about Andy behind the counter. He gave me a rather unfriendly look. We wanted to put tables together, but after a brief discussion, he finally made it possible. Thanks for that. I also deal with customers every day, but if I'm not in a good mood, my customers don't notice. A smile costs nothing, but it can be free. ;)

We always eat here on our Bostalsee vacations. The seating is very comfortable, both inside and outside. Pens and paper are readily available for the kids. The food is always delicious and arrives quickly. We'd love to come back. 😊

We were a group of 11 people and had reserved a breakfast buffet. The breakfast was completely overpriced for such a minimal selection. There were no drinks included, and coffee (a small cup costs €3) was an extra charge, which everyone in the group found impossible. The cake at the beginning of the buffet had a note saying it was an extra charge. There's a large terrace with a beautiful view of the lake, but the restaurant itself could be made a bit more inviting. We won't be coming back.

We only had a drink, and were politely asked three times within a very short space of time if we wanted something. Great service and a fantastic view of Lake Bosi....

We only had drinks, and there's nothing to complain about. The service was very attentive, but also very hectic, which is due to the fact that all the guests randomly sit down at the free tables. I recommend having the staff seat you, which would eliminate this chaos.

Very good traditional cuisine with Saarland dishes

The restaurant is located directly on Lake Bostal, a popular tourist destination in northern Saarland. There's also a Centerpark there. The food was good and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

We (2 adults, 2 kids) visited on a Monday lunchtime and we were able to get a table easily. Menu was clear with plenty of choice and service was generally good (they also spoke English which helped). The food was good - freshly cooked and tasty. We will be going back.

Questionable "reservation" management. We called early before the school holidays to reserve a table for 8 people for the first day of school. "No, we don't generally accept reservations anymore, but there should always be room." Now we're standing in the Kostbar on the first day of school... "Yes, everyone already made reservations during the holidays, and now there's no room left." Are all people equal, but some are more equal? Luckily, we uninvited the family and managed to get a spare seat for three people in the cool outdoor area. The food itself was good and fresh.

We wanted to eat there with the family. The restaurant was packed—at prime time—absolutely fine. When we asked, "Should we wait a moment until a table outside becomes available?" the reply was, "We don't have time for that today!" Excuse me!? What's the point?! A friendly "wait here until a table becomes available" would have been sufficient. So we packed our things and drove to the very nice Victors Seehotel Weingärtner ;-)

Terrace with a beautiful view. But the finger food is seriously overpriced at 13 euros for a few tiny wholesale snacks. Main courses are okay and well-portioned. They make a fuss about whether a 12-year-old can still order a children's menu.

Beautiful location, friendly service – with minor drawbacks The location directly on Lake Bostal is truly stunning. The service was consistently friendly and attentive. We ordered an additional dish – it was absolutely uncomplicated and done quickly. I had spaghetti with marinated chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken was very dry; especially at €22, I would have expected a bit more. The spaghetti was okay. My daughter's meal, on the other hand, was good. One negative thing I noticed: During our visit, the manager was present and criticized employees in the dining room. This seemed unprofessional to guests and had a noticeable impact on the atmosphere. Interestingly, after the manager left, the service was much more relaxed and smoother – the team did a great job. Overall: great ambiance and friendly staff, but there's room for improvement in the food and the way they interacted behind the scenes.

Precious moments by the lake! I visited the Kostbar am See on July 31, 2025, at the beautiful Bostalsee – and I was absolutely thrilled! The location itself is fantastic: With a direct view of the lake, it's a wonderful place to relax and enjoy yourself. The freshly tapped Karlsbader Ur-Pils was delicious – pleasantly cool, slightly bitter, and very drinkable. My steak with pepper sauce and fries was cooked to perfection, the sauce wonderfully seasoned, and the fries deliciously crispy. Add to that the extremely friendly and attentive service – what more could you want? An all-round successful visit in a great atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

👍Nothing to complain about. Beautiful view of the lake from the terrace. Prices are high everywhere, not just here. You have to budget for a meal starting at €14 or more per person. We enjoyed it 😋

Very, very, very good food. More than generous portions, and between €20 and €35 per person, you're doing well. We didn't really notice the ambiance because we were sitting outside, but it was still a nice place to sit.

The schnitzel with Bolognese sauce was very oversalted. We notified them and received a new one, but unfortunately, it was also oversalted. What a shame, it was usually so good!

We had to sit outside in the rain because some of the tables inside were occupied by single people, and the staff didn't provide any structure. The prices on the website were incorrect and misleading. Otherwise, the quality doesn't match the prices at all. The service was uncaring and unfortunately had no precise idea of the ingredients in the products. It's a shame, really, because at a corporate event the catering was very good and the service excellent. Unfortunately, I couldn't confirm that at all when I was there today.

We were there again today. We had a venison burger, a pulled pork burger, and a Saarschleife (see picture). The food was prepared and served quickly. The dishes were exceptionally good. We can recommend this restaurant without reservation.

The prices here are okay. The food, here three different burgers, was cold and undercooked. The taste and quantity were OK, though. The staff was friendly and attentive. There weren't long waits. The view from the terrace over the lake was a highlight.

Everything is great, but you do have to walk about 150-200 from the parking lot to get there. This could be harder for those with issues walking. The food was excellent but a bit pricey. I guess that is pretty standard for a restaurant on the water and near a major activities area.

We had one beer and one iced coffee. Everything was OK. It's just a shame that dogs aren't allowed in the bar.

I can't give any information about the location, but after a pleasant phone call, I can say that dogs are only allowed outside. It's a shame, but there must be a reason for that.

A truly lakeside café-restaurant with a beautiful view of the lake. Quite busy at all hours. Very good service. Fair prices considering the location. Whether you're looking for a drink, a meal, or a coffee, you can enjoy everything inside or on the outdoor terrace. The menu is very German.

Waited 45 minutes for food, ordered bollo twice for 15€ each, inedible, minced meat made quick, tasted completely disgusting, after complaining we were told the boss knew, we had to pay the full amount, never again, thumbs down

Wow! Now that was delicious! Varied menu, fair prices, super nice staff. We are blown away! Unfortunately it was discovered too late, on the last day of the holiday.

Went to the Precious with four adults and three children (4, 4, 1). There are buckets of colored pencils on the tables and there are coloring children's menus - great! The waitresses were consistently friendly and attentive and, last but not least, the food was delicious! We had cheeseburgers twice (with apparently homemade burger buns), once rump steak with asparagus, homemade hollandaise sauce and potatoes and once asparagus, potatoes with raw ham. The children were happy with chips and fish fingers. Unfortunately, on our next visit, again very spontaneous, everything was full. Reservations are therefore recommended! We'll be back!

We come here every now and then, the view over the lake is beautiful. The burgers and fries we prefer are very tasty. The prices are normally high for a restaurant.

If you want to enjoy a great view with good food, this is the right place for you. The view of the lake is simply wonderful and the food is fresh and delicious. In addition, the staff is super friendly and accommodating. We were definitely not here for the last time.

Nice little restaurant with friendly and fast service and a beautiful location right on Lake Bostal, including a terrace. The drink selection is good and the drinks are served beautifully presented. Likewise the food, although unfortunately I can only recommend the wild burger to a limited extent. There is a water playground nearby. I can recommend the Kostbar for families who are taking a trip to the lake. The restaurant with its great view of the lake is also great for a cozy drink at lunch or evening.
