A very nice restaurant. We sat outside on the terrace, and it was very cozy. The food was excellent. Unfortunately, the prices aren't as high as in a regular pizzeria, but I still think it's really good. I can't say anything negative about the service, etc. It was a very nice evening.

We sat outside, right by the street, but wonderfully shielded by a dense hedge. You hardly notice how close the traffic actually is. It was really cozy and quiet. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. What was particularly impressive was that our entire order was remembered without any notes, including our special requests! Everything arrived quickly and exactly as ordered. Our dishes were simply delicious, prepared with love, beautifully presented, and tasted top-notch. We felt completely at home and will definitely be back. 💛

My husband and his colleagues had dinner together. The taste was not surprising, but it was okay. Maybe there were too many people for dinner, so the food was not served quickly. They kept asking us if we wanted to add more. After asking twice, we felt embarrassed and paid the bill. Hahahaha

Very disappointing. We arrived well before the official closing time – according to the website, the restaurant would be open for over an hour – but we were told the kitchen was "already closed." Meanwhile, the waiters preferred to chat with Italian guests (in Italian, of course) and completely ignored us. It seemed as if they simply didn't feel like working anymore. The floor was dirty, the atmosphere unfriendly, and we didn't eat anything. Conclusion: The website and the staff contradict each other; no one actually knows when it's open. Unclear information, poor service – absolutely not recommended.

The food was very good in terms of quality and taste. However, we had to wait an hour for our food. When you're only given a two-hour time slot, that's too short. We left without dessert. The menu mostly consisted of pizza and pasta, and the price was too high, even by these standards.

It was a wonderful evening. There were two of us there without a reservation. We received a very friendly welcome and were assigned a comfortable table by the window. The food was very fresh and served in a very attractive manner. We had antipasto misto as a starter. A delicious selection of Italian appetizers: ham, cheese, salami, salad, grilled vegetables, Caprese, and a few olives. It was delicious, and we were looking forward to the main course, which did not disappoint. We had the gnocchi in lemon cream with asparagus from the June menu. A poem. It was simply an ideal combination of ingredients that created an explosion of flavor. Because it was so cozy, we treated ourselves to dessert too. I had panna cotta with pistachios and hazelnut-nougat mascarpone cream... It was simply delicious... 7 out of 5 stars for a wonderful, successful evening.

Food is an experience - it is art

A lot of investment was made in a marketing concept – but who is this place? Nice appearance, friendly pictures – no description. What it stands for – a perception: Relatively loud house music without Italian flair. On the other hand, there are few well-mixed aperitifs and lukewarm wine. The appetizers – average. Refinement and acidity were lacking. The pasta dishes ordered: oh dear. The combination of store-bought stuffed gnocchi with lemon asparagus and almonds – almost mean. The carbonara was tasteless and the egg was hard-boiled (pure love...). It lacks authenticity and culinary skill. It was okay, but unfortunately, I won't be returning. Perhaps quite tasty by Wuppertal standards.

Very good, authentic Italian cuisine with a changing specials menu. The food and wine selection are excellent. The fish and meat dishes are delicious, and the portions are generous. For example, they serve a wonderful carbonara, and, as is proper, without cream 😉. The service is very friendly and prompt. We give it 5 stars 😀.

Short spoiler: This was our first, but not the last, time in Taormina :) My wife and I recently ate at Taormina for the first time and we were immediately impressed by the excellent ambience and the warm welcome. The restaurant was already busy on this Friday evening, which is why we were happy to have made a reservation by phone in advance. At the same time, we were accompanied to our table by the friendly staff and didn't have to wait long for the menus. We order a glass of Prosecco in advance and the waiter presented us with the daily menu. From here we had the porcini mushroom soup and the burrata on tomato tartare as starters. My wife is a vegetarian and was very pleased with the plentiful selection of vegetarian dishes. We enjoyed both excellently. Our waiter recommended us to drink the Buonora Etna from Sicily, which is made 100% from Carricante. A perfect companion for a spring evening. Mineral, fruity and acidic enough not to be lost next to aromatic dishes such as porcini mushroom soup. For the main course, my wife had the fresh tagliatelle with truffle, parmesan and burrata and I had the tagliatelle with seafood. The pasta was really al dente and the sauce was mixed into a fine cream. Both were a poem and portioned in exactly such a way that we were able to fill the last space in our spoiled stomachs with a delicious panna cotta. Although the dessert is actually not for the stomach, but for the ❤️. When asked, the bill was brought to us quickly and we were greeted just as friendly as we were received. The bar was set really high that evening and we are really looking forward to the next visit :) Thank you, dear team Taormina

Very tasty pizza, minestrone was quite bland and too expensive for this small portion at €8. A little baguette was even charged extra at €2.50. €6 extra charge for salami on the pizza. A glass of ginger ale- more expensive than a glass of wine?? Overall, the relationships simply don't really add up. All in all nice, but too expensive!

Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right for you :-( Two pizzas for a total of 50 euros?

The restaurant is just great!! My parents have been there several times and today was my first time there because it was my dad's birthday! I'm the biggest truffle pasta fan and Taormina's pasta is truly the best I've eaten so far and I've tried many!! The service is also simply 1a and super nice and accommodating!! The quality of the food is good, but the quantity leaves a lot to be desired. There is a lot of room for improvement, especially when it comes to pasta dishes. 170€ for 5 people at the Italian restaurant is quite sporty (including 7x soft drinks, 1x red wine).

Sometimes chance helps with great discoveries. Actually, we were just looking for a place to grab something to eat nearby before a concert in the town hall. Google then found the “Ristorante taormina – fai da te”, right next to the town hall. A quick look at the website – it looked good, so I made a quick reservation online. Then it was time. We were warmly welcomed after a somewhat stressful journey and immediately felt very comfortable in the restaurant. The ambience is worth seeing, you can see a lot of attention to detail (and Vespas). The welcome was nice, but the entire service was always very attentive without being intrusive. Very commendable. From A (aperitif) to Z (encore when we popped back in for a nightcap after the concert), the food and drinks were a delight. Everything is stylishly prepared, in appropriate portions and very tasty. Each dessert was a discovery in itself, even the traditional tiramisu was a surprise due to the way it was presented - very creative. Conclusion: Great, small restaurant, run with commitment and with the ability to create a feel-good atmosphere. Everything was right for us. Highly recommended. Update January 2025: Our first impression has been confirmed and despite the journey being a little further for us, TAORMINA has now become one of our favorite restaurants.

The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, exactly what you would want in an Italian restaurant. I will definitely be back and can recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to eat authentic Italian food in Wuppertal.

We have often eaten well in Taormina. Unfortunately we had an unpleasant experience today because our telephone reservation was unfortunately not entered. You couldn't even remember the conversation that had taken place an hour before - very adventurous and a shame... hopefully next time it would be as usual.

Absolutely good food in a very pleasant atmosphere. Our pizzas were real Italian pizzas with fresh delicious ingredients. We went here for dinner before an event in the historic Stadthalle Wuppertal. Without prior reservation we would not have found a free place. Of course, with the excellent quality.

The food was okay, but I wouldn't necessarily come back because of that. The service is pretty bad and you always have the feeling that it's mass processing. Eating and drinking comfortably is also not possible. We had expressly said that we wanted to wait a bit after the starter before ordering the main course, but were then asked 3 times within 5 minutes what we would like to order now, with the justification that nothing else was coming from the kitchen. The price-performance ratio is not right for me either.

Yesterday I was there because I was really craving truffle pasta. Reservation is absolutely necessary, it is also stated on the Internet and it was actually very full on a Sunday evening. The pasta on the carpaccio was super tasty, but I thought that the burrata ball didn't fit on it because it was cold and relatively tasteless. My companion, however, thought the combination was great. Afterwards there was dessert. Panna Cotta Pistacchio. Ok, but not to repeat. The tiramisu had a very tasty cream and is recommended. The dishes at the other tables also looked incredibly delicious. I would like to try out more there. Dogs are allowed.

Very nice staff and good food. It is very loud in the restaurant when it is full - not for a romantic candlelight dinner, but rather for a sociable meal. When the door is closed in autumn, it gets quite warm in the dining room and the supply of “fresh air” is very limited due to guests who unfortunately think they have to bathe in perfume before going out to eat. I would prefer if the restaurant smelled more like food and less like the guests' perfume. The food was good, for a very good, unfortunately it lacked “the final whistle” of sophistication and spice.

We had a delicious meal consisting of eggplant parmigiana and pasta. Mine, with truffle, melted in the mouth. The consistency of the fresh pasta and seasoning was perfect. Booking is necessary: the place was full until after 21h. I give Taormina my best recommendations

Gerne möchte ich eine Bewertung über unseren Besuch von gestern 18.07.24 schreiben, leider habe ich einiges zu kritisieren. Wir hatten dieses Restaurant für ein Geburtstagsessen ausgewählt weil wir von früheren Besuchen dort mit dem Essen sehr zufrieden waren. Soweit so gut. Wir hatten leider das Pech in unmittelbarer Nähe von einer größeren Gesellschaft zu sitzen und die Lautstärke war schon sehr anstrengend für unsere 89 Jährige Mutter, hätte man auch anders machen können. Das Essen war durchschnittlich gut aber für den hohen Preis ziemlich kleine Portionen, bei den Getränken ( 3 Gläser Wein) war in jedem Glas unterschiedlich wenig drin, das geht meiner Meinung nach nicht, wenn der Rest aus der Flasche nicht mehr reicht dann sollte man bevor man sich beschwert eine neue Flasche öffnen. Dann kam die Rechnung, wir waren zu dritt und hatte als Aperitif jeder einen Prosecco es wurden uns aber 4 Prosecco berechnet, als wir das reklamiert hatten kam die unverschämte Antwort, naja sie hatten ja ursprünglich den Tisch für 4 Personen reserviert. Auch mit der Beschwerde dass die 3 nicht bestellten Bruschetta auf der Rechnung standen kam nur eher unfreundlich die Aussage „aber die haben Sie doch auch gegessen“ also nicht Gastfreundlich. Manche Restaurants haben es anscheinend nicht mehr nötig Gastfreundlich und ehrlich zu sein, schade. Wir kommen aber auf keinen Fall wieder…..

A real Italian LOCALE in the middle of a German city 🥰 we came without reservation and were lucky to be seated coz the place was full! Despite of this we got served really quick! Food came in less then 20 min I think and it was extremely tasty. The personnel was really friendly and welcoming 🇮🇹 Really recommend! Grazie infinite, ragazzi 🫶

Abbiamo scelto casualmente il posto, camerieri gentilissimi da subito. Terrazza molto suggestiva e curata con panorama mozzafiato. Avendo 2 passeggini i camerieri sono stati da subito molto cortesi nel trovarci il posto più confortevole. Cucina veramente meritevole e di qualità. Davvero tutto molto molto piacevole se non fosse per l’incontro con la scortesissima proprietaria che si aggirava in modo molto sospettoso nella saletta interna dove eravamo solo nei mentre andavamo in bagno, si avvicina a me sbattendomi tra le mani dei sacchetti di resti di noccioline sostenendo fossero mie davvero persona sgradevole che annulla la magnifica ora trascorsa lì. Peccato
