Tandure in Hannover

Unfortunately, this restaurant no longer exists where we were last year. The new location apparently hasn't opened yet. When it does, we'll definitely go there for the Yoghurtlu Kebap! But the other dishes are also delicious! Highly recommended!!!

I used to eat in Tandure near Schwarzer Bär, but they closed it due to not be able to continue the rent contract, so they move to the new location at Pelikan Viertel. The style is newer, more modern (I personally like the old style they used to have more), but the food, the taste and the service are as good as I have had. Highly recommend to all of you.

We went to Tandure with friends on a Saturday early evening. The service in the restaurant was very friendly and attentive. We didn't have to wait long for our food or drinks. Our wine and water were refilled promptly. We enjoyed our food immensely. It was well-seasoned, but not overly so. The food was plentiful and beautifully presented. The prices are perfectly reasonable for the good quality. Reserving a table is recommended, as Tandure is very busy. What I didn't like so much were the badly tattered, handwritten menus, which urgently need updating. We will be back and thank you for a lovely evening.

Overall, the visit to Tandure was very pleasant. Service: The staff were very friendly and had a sense of humor, which added to the atmosphere. Ambience: We sat outside under a gazebo with beautiful oriental lamps – very atmospheric and fitting for the restaurant. Food & Value: The food was delicious and the value for money was absolutely convincing. Cleanliness: The restrooms were clean and attractively designed. Suggestions for Improvement: Two things were unfortunately not right: The menus were torn and stained, which doesn't make a good impression – the menu is an important showcase. Furthermore, the knives were completely blunt, which also doesn't match the otherwise high-quality impression.

Expectations were high with Tandure's new location in Hanover, but the reality was disappointing. The cramped space is immediately noticeable upon entry: the rooms are small, the tables are close together, and there's hardly any privacy. We ordered a plate for just under ten euros as an appetizer, but the quality fell far short of expectations. We were offered a standard plate, the kind you get for free in many Turkish restaurants, with two olives and two small slices of eggplant. For the price, this was overall very disappointing and not recommended. The same impression continued with the main courses. The grilled plates seemed skimpy, and the portions were significantly smaller than the price. The meat was seasoned, but so overdone that the actual flavor was completely lost, especially in the chicken. Instead of authentic spices, it tasted more like standard blends from the supermarket shelf. What's particularly troubling is that a traditional clay oven is apparently not used. This is precisely what would have given the dishes their typical smoky notes and depth. Without this element, the food seems random and interchangeable, almost like it came from a regular fast food restaurant. The side dishes were also bland and contributed nothing to the overall experience. The final impression is one of cramped space, small portions, and uninspired cuisine that conveys neither authenticity nor special flavor. Anyone expecting authentic Turkish cuisine will be disappointed.

I've known Tandure for over 30 years, and we've been there at various intervals. The beautiful ambiance, the friendly service, and of course the delicious food have made it a little gem in Hanover. We were sad when we read that they unfortunately had to move out of their premises. We visited the new restaurant a few days ago and were shocked. I've rarely seen something so soulless. We already suspected it wouldn't be the same as before; it was too disappointing, but the service was friendly again, and the food was delicious. I was also irritated that the doors to the restrooms at the entrance were open. Outside, behind glass, hung a crumpled, dirty menu. When you walk in, you see a staircase leading up at the back, crammed with stuff. It was more reminiscent of a cellar staircase than a restaurant. It would be nice if they put a little more effort into it and added a bit more character.

Today was our last visit. What has happened to Tanture? The service was grumpy, the portions were small, and the bill included items we hadn't ordered.

After having tried many cuisines from around the world, this was one of those experiences that makes you simply say: wow. Everything was full of flavor, technique, and authenticity. We started with the Karışık Meze, a selection of cold starters ideal for discovering contrasts, and then tried two memorable dishes: the Tandure Kebap (shredded lamb with garlic yogurt and grilled vegetables) and the İncik Sarma (stuffed lamb shank in a mint and cream sauce with organic potatoes). Both dishes were perfectly prepared and full of character. We would also like to highlight the service of the waiter, a young, very friendly and attentive man, who took the time to explain each dish and guide us with patience and professionalism. This level of care is appreciated. The atmosphere is calm, the service excellent, and the cuisine, simply brilliant. Highly recommended.

We were big fans of the old tandoor. Both outside on the banks of the Ihme River and in the cozy interior were wonderful places to sit, and we did so frequently when we were in Hanover. Unfortunately, not much of that charm remains at the new location. This is partly due to the container-like building, but the interior could definitely be improved in terms of decor, etc. The many outdoor seats overlooking the old Pelikan factory are lovely. I can't comment on how shady the seating is in the summer, as we were there during the colder season. Regarding quality: The selection has shrunk significantly, and some favorite dishes have unfortunately been discontinued. What's available still tastes very good (at least on the one visit so far), and the lamb is still of very good quality. The service is still very attentive and warm – although even at the old location, they could have done even better (e.g., the lamb skewer was skillfully butchered). Overall, it's still a nice restaurant, and I'll definitely continue to go there whenever I'm in Hanover. However, I'm beginning to miss the charm of the old tandoor a bit and hope that at least the quality of the food and service won't decline.

I was at Tandure in Lüchow years ago and enjoyed the food there. Yesterday, I was in the mood for Anatolian cuisine, but Google suggested Tandure again – so I can't comment on the former location in Linden. For the container the restaurant is located in, the decor is still fine. I can only say positive things about the food. The lamb was super tender, the stuffed zucchini were delicious, and the spicy sauce we were served with it was quite something. This was rounded off with a good, chilled white wine and kunefe for dessert. The service was very attentive and really fast. This was definitely not our last visit there.

I had bone broth and the tandoori menu, which were truly delicious. I was completely satisfied! The young man from Dersim was truly polite and friendly! I'd love to come back next time!

Yesterday, we visited Tandure with friends (11 people). We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to our table. The ambiance is very stylish and elegant. The waitress was very prompt and took our orders with a friendly smile. The drinks and appetizers, which were delicious, arrived quickly and together. Everyone was very satisfied with the food and service. We would be happy to come back! Thank you, Tandure!!!

We visited Tandure's new location for the first time with six people and a small child. While it's not as romantic as the old location, the quality of the food hasn't changed. We did have to wait a while for our drinks, but it was also very busy. Our toddler was looked after and cuddled by every member of the staff. This certainly won't be our last visit. We will definitely recommend Tandure to all our friends.

Today was our first and last visit – unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Given the high prices and the many positive reviews, we had expected much more. The kebab was undercooked and far too fatty. The lamb skewer and the chops were rubbery and had a liver-like flavor in some places. The friendly service, which we also mentioned on the spot, deserves special mention. Nevertheless, the overall impression remains: a huge disappointment at a high price.

Das Tandure konnte mit hervorragendem Essen bei uns punkten. Wir haben mehrere Lammvariationen probiert sowie das Shakshuka. Alles hat hat frisch, lecker und gut gewürzt geschmeckt. Großer Pluspunkt ist das Sitzen an Tischen im Halbschatten der Bäumen vor dem Restaurant.

We tried the Tandure after it moved to the Pelikanviertel and were extremely disappointed. The new location seems cold, uncomfortable and completely interchangeable. A container feeling awaits you at Pelikanplatz, which is more reminiscent of a makeshift arrangement than of a well-thought-out restaurant concept. Nothing remains of the former charm and there is a complete lack of warmth and identity. Unfortunately, the service also leaves a lot to be desired. We sat for a long time without drinks and were only served once over the course of the evening. We didn't get any salad, the bulgur was cold, the soft drinks were non-carbonated. The main courses were mediocre at best, the presentation was rather poor and simply not justified for the price-performance ratio. The restaurant performs far below expectations for the price range and is no longer recommended overall, neither for the food on offer, the poor and disorganized service nor the dismal location.

Today (beginning of May 2025) was our third visit for lunch and there is nothing to complain about. Highly recommended. Our second visit followed today and I have to give full marks out of conviction. This time also very friendly and attentive service. It always seems better to me. Only the bread was a bit dry this time. Overall, highly recommended.

Since there were hardly any tables occupied in the afternoon, we had to call the waitress ourselves after waiting for over 15 minutes. When the starter came, we asked the waiter to toast the salads in the kitchen. The salad plates also made us wait about 20 minutes (net waiting time after the starter) Food was ok, no wow effect, but ok... In my opinion, the new location at Pelikanplatz downgraded the very upgraded TANDURE. I don't find anything special anymore. The impression is that it's more for walk-in customers

Unfortunately, our visit wasn't as good as many reviews on the internet suggested. Not everything in the new location was fresh and of good quality. Many meat products were extremely heavily seasoned, so that you could hardly perceive the actual taste of the food. Overall, we were disappointed and expected more after the many positive reviews.

We still know the tandoor from Linden. Now at the new location, the food and service are just as great as before. The ambience here is more classic, the cool oven is missing here. Das Tandure musste von Ihmeufer an die Günther-Wagner-Allee in einen Glasbau am Pelikanplatz umziehen. Durch die Glasfassade kann es bei Sonnenschein recht warm und stickig im Restaurant werden. Die Stühle waren an dem Abend recht unbequem und die Tische werden hier viel zu eng gestellt. Zudem kann es im Gastraum recht laut werden, was von uns als ziemlich störend empfunden wurde. Der Service war freundlich, aufmerksam und zügig. Bei unserem Besuch hatte das Restaurant eine volle Auslastung und das Personal beeindruckte durch ein gutes Timing zwischen den Gängen. Türkische und anatolische Spezialitäten werden hier im im traditionellen Lehmofen zubereitet. Die Portionen sind großzügig, das Essen frisch, würzig und geschmacklich hervorragend. Die Desserts wie Künefe oder Katmer runden das kulinarische Erlebnis ab. Optisch hat der Umzug dem Tandure definitiv nicht gutgetan, während die Qualität der Speisen nicht gelitten hat. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist hier fair, gerade angesichts der Qualität und Menge der Speisen.

There is a point deduction for the ambience because compared to the old restaurant in Linden, the current Tandure lacks the clay oven and the oriental furnishings. We went to dinner with 5 people, the food was ok, unfortunately the service was nothing. Never again!

The food was incredibly delicious! Price/performance is right. However, the ambience is not entirely harmonious. You sit very close to each other, which makes you feel uncomfortable. The new location is chic, but the furniture is very old and worn. Unfortunately, the kitchen is also open plan, so you can smell it after a visit to a fancy restaurant. The food remains and is fantastic!

Today we were at the Tandure for the first time in the new city location in the Pelikanviertel. The food was good as always. From the outside, the Countainers didn't look pretty. It was very reminiscent of migrant accommodation, and the red color (on the outside) didn't help. And inside 😱, oh my... nothing reminds me of the old Tandure anymore. No decoration, lots of floor-to-ceiling glass, everything sharp-edged and cold. The ceiling in oker tones and the counter area in light moss green, like the parquet-style floor, cannot create a homely feeling. The Tandure on the banks of the River Ihm transports you to the Orient as soon as you enter. You immediately felt comfortable there. The three yurts are still closed. I was expecting something oriental there. But here from the outside you could see seating with a beer garden atmosphere. You can't be more disappointed. Now let's hope that a lot changes. We have been guests at Tamdure since the beginning and have always enjoyed being there. Maybe something will change. Let's hope so.

What a wonderful restaurant! Regardless of the service, ambience or quality of the food - this restaurant has no competition in Hanover. Other Turkish/Mediterranean restaurants, on the other hand, are barbecue joints and not competition. I regret the closure at this established location, but look forward to the reopening at the new location. Best regards!

The food was not good at all, we had reservation, we waited at the table for 1 hour and 30 minutes, we only had our drinks and bread which the waiters grabbed with their hands, I ordered shrimp and was not satisfied, the atmosphere was good, very heavenly

Very good restaurant, unfortunately closing at the end of the year. But it should open again next year at a different location.

Unfortunately, I am of the opinion that the shop still leaves a lot to be desired, especially the way it deals with customers, which is why it only gives 3 stars, and the food is just as good as any kebab shop.

We were so disappointed! After the announcement of the restaurant's imminent closure, we were eager to enjoy the food and ambience of Tandure again. But the disappointment was great. The service was absolutely minimalist. There were no candles on the tables. But the food was worse. The lamb fillet was inedible as it was of poor quality overall! The grill plate was ok, but not a culinary delight. Overall, it wasn't a good farewell!

My experience at this restaurant was a bit disappointing. First of all, we had a reservation but it took so long for them to take our orders. I had called the waiter, he said he would come, but he didn't come. I had to go and talk to her. The waiter apologized for it anyway. Second, they don't bring new cutlery after the entree change. The waiter tells us to keep our spoons for the main course. Finally, all the dishes we ordered were too fatty. I say this when I compare the same kind of food with its real version. Overall I wasn't satisfied.

Our Christmas party (even though it was a while ago :)) in the Tandure restaurant was a complete success! From start to finish everything was absolutely great. The ambience was warm and festive, ideal for a celebration during the Christmas season. The food was excellent - every course was a taste surprise and the quality of the ingredients was clearly noticeable. What was particularly impressive was the attentive and friendly service, which helped everyone feel comfortable, and the appearance of a dancer who danced to oriental music and enriched the evening in a unique way. A really great meal and attentive and friendly staff in a pleasant atmosphere.

Tandure serves very tasty and authentic Turkish food. The menu also offers some vegetarian dishes. What stands out about the Çukurova Kebab is the baked eggplant with the tahini-garlic sauce in combination with the minced lamb skewer. Bulgur and bread are served with the dishes. The serving of the main course seemed very elegant. The Künefe dessert was also very tasty, but there could have been a little more mozzarella on the edge 😉 In my opinion, the prices are completely reasonable. The desserts and drinks in particular seem very inexpensive to me by today's standards. The restaurant is located in a large courtyard with parking spaces hidden behind a main road. You probably won't come across the restaurant by chance. There is still a need for optimization regarding one topic: the organization of the service. It took about 45 minutes for us to get the drinks and about 90 minutes for the food to be served. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday evening. The service was very attentive and courteous, but given the relatively long walk there were too many guests for the number of service employees. While we waited, we also received free, freshly baked bread. Furthermore, it would be more pleasant for the guests if all employees could take on all tasks. Not all employees can take and collect orders. In the end, we had even more time to talk, which is of course nice 😉 Overall, it was a nice and enjoyable evening.

A very classic Turkish restaurant that most closely resembled the food in Turkey of all the restaurants I have visited so far. Fresh delicious meat, delicious sauces, oriental ambience and very friendly staff. Next time please send a reasonable invoice and not a paper slip! 😉

The Tandure in Hanover has been one of the best Turkish restaurants in Germany for many years. Here you can get traditional Turkish cuisine in its original, typical form according to original recipes. Specialties from different regions of Türkiye are regularly served here. The wine list is particularly noteworthy. Rare wines from Turkish wine regions perfectly match the fine dishes of the house. Tandure remains one of my favorite restaurants. Go and see for yourself!

The Tandure restaurant is an absolute insider tip for lovers of Turkish cuisine! The dishes are authentic, prepared with great attention to detail and simply delicious. I was particularly impressed by the freshly baked bread and the traditional Turkish dishes, such as the mezze and grilled dishes. The taste and quality of the ingredients are outstanding. The service is super friendly and the atmosphere invites you to feel good. If you want to experience real Turkish cuisine, Tandure is the right place for you!

My wife and I last Monday, February 2nd 9. Had lunch here. We had good weather and sat outside. Nice service, delicious food (lamb chops), Good red wine, Turkish coffee and finally a raki Perfect! We will come again.

On a special day we decided to visit this restaurant with the family but were invariably disappointed. When we arrived at the reserved table, we sat for 30 (!) minutes without even placing an order. Waiters walk up and down our table, sometimes looking us in the eyes but not taking our orders. This shouldn't happen even on a busy Saturday evening. After one of my family had to stand up and approach the waiters, we placed our order. The drinks and soups came another 20 minutes later and the soup was extremely poorly seasoned. Cumin has absolutely no place in a traditional lentil soup like we know from Turkey (regardless of which region you come from)! Even in bulgur rice, the spice has absolutely no right to exist. Therefore, the soup and the rice did not live up to expectations in any way. We continue with the mixed grill plate, of which I have also attached a photo: in my opinion, for €26 you can expect an earthenware bowl well filled with meat. But on the contrary, the bowl was already half empty when served. It is also outrageous to use the same minced meat for the köfte and the adana. A chef cooking according to this restaurant's own high standards MUST know that the minced meat for the adana needs to be seasoned and put together differently than regular minced meat for kofta. All in all, not a recommended place to go for a nice meal. Apparently they're quite good at drinking alcohol, as there wasn't any on our table at the time of our visit.

Endless waiting time to be answered. With reservation of no importance. We also set up 2-3 tables. Accordingly, customers with reservations were neglected. Everyone eats heavily spiced with caraway. Always had to drink something after every bite. Anything but Turkish food. I felt like I was in the pub. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat straight away got up because I was there with the family + grandparents. Otherwise immediately. 6 people + 200 euros paid and no tea or Turkish coffee as a thank you (which is actually always usual).

Very tasty food and a good selection. The Adanan skewer was very tasty and well prepared. When it comes to the spicy version of the walnut salad, I have to point out that it is very spicy and not edible for everyone. Great ambience inside and outside and enough places during the week without reservations. Gladly again!
