Taj Mahal in Dortmund

The food was okay. Unfortunately, I've had stomach problems and diarrhea since visiting the restaurant. I can't recommend it.

Unfriendly staff, hair in the food, and it didn't taste good either. Never again!!

The food was very good. The service could be improved. After stating the bill amount, we were asked how much we wanted to pay (card payment). I don't think that's appropriate.

We had following dishes 1. Chicken Tikka - it was good, color wasn't authentic taste was not matching with native Indian, but so far this is the best chicken tikka masala we had 2. Butter naan - 5/5 for the naan as it was really crispy and correct proportion of flour. 3. Rajma - 3/5 Rajma was not that tastey but it was only average 4. Chaval -4/5 it is the best rice we got in dortmund. Overall I am giving 4/5 for the nice calm ambience, food, politeness of Punjabi bhaaji.

The service was very poor. It looked like the waiter didn't want any diners. Most of the food was salty and Lamb Sheesh kabab was dry and inedible.

We ate at the Taj Mahal in Dortmund last night. When we arrived, there were a few other guests there, but it wasn't too loud. We were immediately shown to a table and given our menus right away. The wait for the food wasn't long at all, and since we're vegan, we were very happy that there was a good selection of options. The food was truly fantastic, and the portion sizes were just right. The gentleman who served us was very friendly, and we had a lovely evening there.

Excellent restaurant with authentic Indian cuisine. The service is very attentive and the value for money is top-notch. We'd gladly return.

Good warm jain food available. I had dal rice without onion or garlic. The hostess Sukh ji accommodated my request on a short notice. JAIN Dal Rice available on order/request. Very close to hbf - 10 mins walk.

I was there yesterday. The waiter was very, very nice and helpful. The food was delicious, and the chef was very hospitable. I would recommend it. The waiter, in particular, had excellent service. He was Iranian. The food was also delicious, and we got it very quickly.

The veggie biryani tasted like an Italian rice dish today, and the cheese was missing. What a pity.

The Indians aren't exactly in the mood for work, and there were also communication problems in German. The Iraqi waiter, who had trouble with the tray, was also completely authentic. We reminded him four times about the forgotten naan, which was finally served at the end of the main course. All in all, it's okay, but it could be better, especially in Dortmund. All in all, a solid three 👳‍♂️

Tried Indian food for the first time. Ordered lentil soup, Taj-Mahal Kebab and Indian beer. The order didn't arrive right away, but everything was delicious👍

Food is 5/5 and service is 1/5. The food was absolutely amazing, super yummy, great flavors and spices and nothing we can complain about! Service was awful! No one was in the restaurant but us and we had to walk up to the counter so they saw us. No one came to get our order because they were just all talking in the kitchen. No one ever checked in on us and we literally had to asked for the check because no one bothered! Then they only take cards when the order is 15+ Euros and there was a 1.75 Euro surcharge for whatever. Food top, everything else flop!

I ate duck. It was horrible. Canned. I don't understand the high price. Plus, it's very expensive!

The food is quite good. But the service and atmosphere leave a lot to be desired. It took forever for our food to arrive, and even a simple glass of water took a long time. Even after asking, I still had to wait a long time.

Food was excellent but everything else was quite lacking. The servers were not friendly and seemed quite bored. One of them was even seen taking personal calls while on the job. When we asked to take the food to go, they dumped both of our leftovers into one container, effectively mixing it. f you only value the quality of the food you are getting, I recommend this place but other than that it left a bit to wish for.

We tried Chicken Biriyani, Butter Scampi, Sweet Lassi and Salty Lassi. Chicken Biriyani was flavorful. You can get the perfect balance of spices and fresh herbs. The amount of chicken was also satisfactory. I liked the most the butter Scampi. The Lassis were so so.

Het restaurant bevindt zich in het centrum van Dortmund. De buitenkant van het restaurant is misschien niet direct uitnodigend en binnen is het erg licht, maar de gerechten die wij bestelden waren uitstekend van smaak zoals je dat van de betere indiaase restauranten gewend bent. Bediening was vriendelijk en de prijs/kwaliteit is altijd goed. Een kleine anekdote we waren op deze avond de laatste gasten die hun maaltijd geserveerd krijgen want daarna bleek het gasfornuis het begeven te hebben en konden er geen maaltijden meer bereid worden.

I fell in love with this food. The butter chicken and garlic naan with it is perfect. The service is very prompt and super nice! I can only recommend coming here, it's worth it and for a great price! 😋

The food was very tasty. We ate there on February 1st, 2025. During our visit in the evening, the health department came by. The store is now temporarily closed. That leaves a bad aftertaste. It's a shame because the food was really delicious.

I had lamb palak and it was delicious. The naan with almonds was excellent, as was the lassi with mint. It was my first visit to you, but definitely not my last. Indians also eat here and if their countrymen like it, then I think that says a lot about the quality.

The best Indian in town! I've been to a lot of Indians, but none were as good as this one. I ordered number 34 the Butter Chicken, and it was just great! The food is also beautifully decorated, and if you order any Tikka dish, you get a nice show. Service was very accommodating and the ambience was excellent, especially the sofa! Always my pleasure

The BEST original indien restaurant

We were there with a group of 7 people. All 7 dishes we had were delicious. The waitress was also a very friendly Indian. Only the ambience could be a little more atmospheric. The sofas are great. The lighting isn't that nice. The small size of the store doesn't bother you. But the lighting is a bit like in a snack bar. And plastic tablecloths are not my personal taste. Then I'd rather have a wooden table top that I can wipe clean. Or sets on top for a nicer look. Price-performance is great! Gladly again ! Dorothe

This is a great Indian restaurant. Very reasonably priced 4 of us paid €106, popadums, mains, beer, 2 wines, 4 waters. Recommend chicken bhuna, korma, butter chicken,, they’re happy to spice up as well. Lovely naan breads, rice automatically comes with curries. Good service too. 👍👍

I ordered through Lieferando at 7:50 p.m., still nothing came until 8:50 p.m., after calling the restaurant I was told that the driver would be there shortly, after another 30 minutes there was still no driver, after calling again at 9:37 p.m. I was told that all orders are out... Paid and no food received!

The place is definitely not a snack bar, but somehow it doesn't really have the character of a restaurant either. So if you value a really tasty meal more than the ambience, you're in great hands here. Our food was really tasty and enough to take leftovers home with us. The prices are not cheap but not overpriced either. Judging by the quality and quantity, I say it's quite reasonable. I would like to go there again.

The chairs are very, very wobbly and the food is relatively tasteless. Otherwise it is a clean shop especially the toilets.

Food is just okay. I had ordered Kebap and it wasn't even close in terms of taste of the real kebab. Then for the main dish chicken bhuna and chicken tikka both were okay and lack the authentic taste. Mango lassi was also okay. I went there for an Indian taste and couldn't had it, as I said overall it was an okay experience. Service and place has great vibes, price is reasonable as well along with the food quantity you wont leave hungry. 😃

I ordered the dish extra spicy, but it was mild. Otherwise the food was ok. The food came relatively quickly. You can do it, but there are better options in Dortmund such as: B. Sweet Chili if you want authentic Indian food. How about offering vegetarian meat dishes with tofu as an alternative?

The staff doesn't speak any German. I asked her to recommend me something, but she didn't understand what I said. lots of rice “small addition” to the rice. The portions other than the rice were very small but tasty. Too modest food for this money

Never had any problems, I've been ordering for a long time, everything has always been delicious. Ordered today through Wolt, first of all the food came almost cold - the rice smelled so badly of MOLD and the naan was inedible. The meal cost €25 and I waited more than 70 minutes. You can understand the waiting time, but MOLD in the food is absolutely unacceptable. DISAPPOINTED.

Excellent! I was there today on a Saturday evening and had been there before but today the restaurant was very full. We were lucky that we got a place today. Even though the staff had a lot to do, they were still friendly and they tried their best to do what they did. The food was great, I ordered the Chicken Biryani with Cheese Nan and it was great! A nice and cozy little restaurant right in downtown Dortmund. Very tasty main courses, good vegetarian and vegan selection. We particularly liked the fresh samosa with 3 different dips. Clear recommendation also for tourists and groups of up to 8 people. We spontaneously got a large table here on Saturday evening, even though the restaurant was already busy.
