Bega Restaurant in Dortmund

After searching for a while to try deshi food, very disappointed. I ordered mutton biriyani for dinner around 7pm. It came with a sauce. The rice was so hard and dry, maybe it was cooked in the morning or even yesterday. Although the meat was quite ok, the rice was a disaster and unbelievable. If you compare the price of 17 euros for a plate, the taste is not what you expected. Hopefully I'll get something better from them next time.

Very good food and the service is super friendly

We came spontaneously with the voucher book and were thrilled. Very friendly service and even better food. The only thing that didn't work was the spiciness of the food. Neither hot nor medium hot were served, only the friendly mild version. But it was still very tasty 😋 And the greeting from the house was also very tasty: 3 dips with bread.

I had dinner there with some friends today, the restaurant has a very cozy atmosphere, even after the meal we sat at the table for some time and had a good chat. The food was really above average and beautifully prepared. I can also only recommend the mango lassis. Our waitresses were very friendly and asked at appropriate intervals whether everything was OK. Really great.

Hmm, so many good reviews, strange. We weren't that happy, I've never eaten such bad naan bread as there. This was bland and quite limp on one side. It didn't taste fresh, like it had been briefly warmed up in a microwave. The meat from the tandoori chicken was spongy, soft and not well seasoned. My companion's dish was also unsatisfactory in terms of meat. Too bad.

The location of the restaurant is depressing. Great food and very nice service. I was particularly impressed with the Chicken Tikka Masalla. Portion maybe a little small. But in the end I was still full. I especially recommend the Indian bread as a snack in between, the best was the one with garlic. I'll definitely come here again

Great restaurant with friendly staff and very friendly owners. They respond to every request and are very attentive. Children are also welcomed and treated with love. The food is top and plentiful. The price is quite cheap for the quality. Definitely a clear recommendation!

This one serves as my first dining experience in Dortmund, and if you're looking for something different, Bega's a good place to start. Being a person of South Asian heritage myself, the place felt quite nostalgic and was a throwback to the culinary journey at home. The staff was really courteous and I was hosted to the table. The restaurant itself has a warm vibe and thus you feel somehow protected from the outdoor chilly weather just by immersing yourself into it. As for the food, I tried some Madrasi Shorba (South Indian lentil soup) and the classic Chicken Tikka Masala, so pretty much trying out both regions of the subcontinent. You're also served some poppadom with sauces in-house, which were crispy and further added the nostalgia factor. The soup was good, but the Tikka Masala was what it really had me, which was served with basmati rice! The only downside may be that it may be a little costly, but as always, it isn't a fast food restaurant and since I've cooked some of the dishes in the menu myself, it takes more time and resources, so it's fair. And yes, if you may feel concerned, the food is Halal.

The restaurant is somewhat hidden on a side street in the middle of the city center. We were there with a larger group and had reserved in advance. Everything worked out and we got a nice table. We received a very friendly welcome and were able to place our drink order. We then looked at the map and found what we were looking for. The food didn't come to everyone at the same time, but that didn't really bother us. The dishes were all very tasty and (from our point of view) typically Indian. We all enjoyed it and we will definitely come back.

The best Indian food we've ever had. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating, we even got a schnapps on the house. The schnapps was very fruity and tasty, but still strong😛. And for the price you will be more than full. We were very satisfied!! Definitely coming back!

We've eaten here three times now and I'm absolutely satisfied every time. The service is first class and the whole restaurant is charming. Yesterday we spontaneously found space. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are designated, numerous and delicious. The service was very good, I have rarely experienced it in such an informed manner, especially in a restaurant that is not exclusively veggie/vegan. The thali was also offered to us in a “veganized” way, which was really super accommodating, so that we could try several dishes. I love coming back again and again!

Anyone who follows a vegetarian or vegan diet is in good hands with Bega. The vegan dishes have been excellent across the board so far. The service is also super friendly and informed. We were explained exactly what was vegan and offered alternatives. It was also possible to “veganize” the menu, which was actually only vegetarian. If you like Indian food you should definitely stop by here!

We looked through the voucher book and found the Bega. After calling we were told that a reservation was not necessary and that we should just come. It worked great too. Really nice employee who asked us to choose a table ourselves. Very quick service, the drinks came quickly. A bowl of papadam and homemade dips (the one with tamarind was great) in advance. Food order with great advice for us, as we don't go to Indian restaurants that often. The appetizers arrived quickly, and they were all extremely tasty. The really nice employee asked when we would like the main course. It then came as requested. Everything is still very hot and really tasty. There was also rice, which we could also order. The portions were plentiful. And everyone really enjoyed it. The service was top and very attentive. We will do this again soon.

The starter was thin, crispy naan bread. We also ordered Knobi Naan bread, so you can add a lot of Knobi to it. The dips that went with it were delicious. The portion of lamb with potatoes was large and filled me up well, the spiciness was appropriate. The best lamb I've had in a long time: really tender! No soup, very good, tender meat. We didn't need a second bowl of rice. We were on the move and waited a little too long for the bill. Otherwise the service is very friendly and attentive.

We always enjoy going here. Very tasty food and very friendly staff. During one visit, there were staff absences due to illness. When we sat down, we were immediately told that it would take a little longer than usual and that if we were in a hurry, we should go to another restaurant. I thought that was very nice. The only experience I've ever had anywhere else was that we had to wait endlessly and only when we issued the invoice did we get the explanation "no staff, many sick".

For us the best Indian in Dortmund. We've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The friendly staff always gave us good advice and were very patient with us. We will continue to eat there when we have good Indian food from starters to dessert

We were in Bega for the first time last week. Very nice atmosphere. We sat in a cozy corner. The staff was friendly. Drinks and appetizers came quickly. The food tasted really good, but the schnapps took some getting used to :-) The 4 of us definitely recommend a visit to Bega.

Als langjährige Stammkunden wurden wir heute von einem neuen Mitarbeiter am Telefon abgelehnt, weil sie uns nun nicht mehr beliefern wollen. Nach so vielen Jahren Treue nun gesagt zu bekommen, dass man plötzlich zu weit weg wohne und deshalb nicht mehr beliefert werde, ist sehr enttäuschend.

Wir haben hier mittlerweile 3x Essen bestellt und auch extra jedes Mal unterschiedliche Gerichte. Wirklich alles war super lecker und frisch zubereitet. Man bekommt wirklich anständige Portionen und die Gerichte kommen immer heiß an. Alles in allem kann ich guten Gewissens sagen, dass dies in meinen Augen das beste indische Restaurant ist! Sehr lecker und relativ nah am echten indischen Geschmack. "Indisch scharf" kann gefahrlos bestellt werden.

Durch die Empfehlung von Freunden habe ich dieses doch eher versteckt gelegene Restaurant entdeckt. Es war wirklich sehr gut. Bei dem netten Service und gutem Essen komme ich gerne wieder.

Heerlijke curry, fantastische pakhora en een zeer vriendelijke bediening. De ambiance is prettig, net als de prijzen. Een aanrader. Wij komen hier graag vaker terug wanneer we in Dortmund zijn!

Wir waren am Sonntag das dritte mal dort. Über alle Besuche können wir nur positiv berichten. Der Service ist schnell und freundlichen und es gibt vorab einen kleinen Gruß aus der Küche (Papadam mit drei Dips, wovon alle drei hervorragend schmecken). Obwohl der Laden relativ voll war, haben wir zeitnah unseren Hauptgang erhalten. Das Essen ist ansprechend angerichtet und geschmacklich makellos. Gleichzeitig sind die Preise nicht zu hoch und absolut fair. Die Portionen machten uns als gute Esser satt und positiv ist vor allem aufgefallen, dass die Gerichte wirklich viel Paneer bzw. Garnelen enthalten haben. Alles in allem hat sich Bega schon nach dem ersten Besuch zu unserem Lieblings-Inder entwickelt und sich mittlerweile dahingehend gefestigt.
