Tai-Pai in Hannover

We've known the Tai-Pai restaurant for over 30 years and still love eating there. The food is always delicious and freshly prepared. This time we had H5, a hot pan dish. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, competent, and attentive. As always, we were completely satisfied and would gladly return. Highly recommended!

I've been going here for years. Whether it's the food or the service, it's always been good.

We arrived just before closing time, received very friendly service, and two excellent dishes. Highly recommended! This is the kind of service you could only wish for.

It was our first time there. The food was delicious, and so was the presentation. During the meal, you noticed over and over again how every single waiter or similar was sent to greet and chat with every single regular customer. Literally every single (regular) customer was greeted by every single employee. At some point, it became annoying. And so we waited a very long time for the dessert we had ordered. It never came. But the regular customers continued to be greeted as if there were no tomorrow. After asking if dessert was finally coming, it arrived within a few minutes. It tasted really good. But with this constant greeting, I don't see myself going back to that place. It's a shame, it felt like they were being transparent.

I had number 65 (?), baked chicken à la Hong Kong. The menu there said 'with bell peppers and morels'. It was served with strips of chicken breast (a bit stringy and dry, but otherwise quite ok) with a crust, rice, and a mini bowl containing a sauce-like mass that tasted of preservatives and flavor enhancers. Floating in it were two morels, five dry and shriveled mushroom slices, bell pepper wedges a few millimeters thin, and two or three soybeans. The service staff did not adequately wipe the table outside. Every other bamboo in the bucket was dried out, see photo. The hot plates are yellowed, and the same ones were there around the turn of the millennium. A dump with a morbid charm. The varnish is off.

Ive barely started eating that my mind was set, this place is définitly worth it, excellent food and beautiful atmosphere. My belly is happy.

We ate at the oldest Chinese restaurant in Hanover. To be honest, we were hoping for more authentic cuisine – but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. It was basically an average Chinese restaurant like many others. You can do it, but you don't have to. Unfortunately, it wasn't authentic.

I've already ordered twice through Lieferando and I'm very satisfied. The delivery is on time, and the food is very good for a delivery. I think the taste, temperature, and portion size are perfect. It's nice that the rice and meat come in separate boxes. This makes it easy to store leftovers.

I've been coming to Hanover on and off for 10 years, and whenever I'm there, I eat here. It's great value for money and delicious.

A beautifully located restaurant with a fantastic view. The food was delicious and the service very friendly. Unfortunately, when we were there, they didn't offer outdoor seating, which would have been the icing on the cake for me, given the view of Weibertreu. But we definitely recommend it.

We ate there for the first time in a long time. The restaurant has been around since the 90s, and it's still top-notch! The best Chinese/Asian food in Hanover and the surrounding area. The quality has been consistently high for decades. Eating here is still a tradition for my family and me. I was very happy to finally be back. Highly recommended and a well-known address in Hanover!

If I couldn't give any stars, I would. We've been coming here for over 15 years and have never eaten as badly as today. The food was freezing cold and the service was abysmal. I can't recommend it anymore. This was our last visit. The waiter with the cap was very unfriendly. You pay for that, no thanks.

Yes, you can also eat gluten-free here. The chef himself serves the food and is knowledgeable about it. This makes the restaurant suitable for people with celiac disease.

We got a table straight away, even without a reservation. The waiter was very friendly and quick. The restaurant is typically furnished like many Asian restaurants, but very clean! The food was extremely tasty and also rich.

Very nice shop, super nice owners. We were there at 10:45 p.m. and they made us something to eat to take away. Totally nice. The price was very affordable and the food was delicious. VERY VERY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Ordered yesterday and never again The food was a complete disaster, pasta almost black, burnt meat and cold sauce. The same dish was ordered 3 times, only one was served when I picked it up and after I pointed out that I had ordered the dish 3 times, the kitchen shouted in a foreign language. Conclusion Food not good Service catastrophic that means not recommended.

My favorite Chinese in Hanover. Apparently the oldest company. My favorite is anything with peanut sauce.

Rarely have such bad Chinese food been eaten. We had duck twice for lunch. Unfortunately, the sauce and the duck were only lukewarm. Sauce was then kindly served to us hot again. All in all, the food was served to us carelessly and without any decoration. Very unfortunate. The Tai Pai used to be very good.

We came across this restaurant by chance on Google and were hooked from the start! As soon as we entered we were greeted very warmly and shown straight to a table. Since some tables were reserved, we were allowed to choose one ourselves from the available seats - a nice gesture that immediately created a pleasant atmosphere. Toilet is clean. The service was outstanding: friendly, attentive and professional. There was even a small welcome drink, probably a schnapps – a great surprise! Went on the house. Our order was taken quickly and when the food arrived we were simply speechless. The beef in my dish was incredibly tender - I've never tasted such perfectly cooked beef in Hanover! Every bite was a pleasure, the taste was simply gigantic. My husband was just as excited. The price-performance ratio is also absolutely fair. This restaurant impressed us completely and we will definitely come back - whether alone, as a couple or in a larger group. A clear 1000% recommendation to everyone: definitely try this restaurant, you won't regret it! Nice nice nice!!!!!

Eating with Dr. Ma, always an experience!

Just fancy a spontaneous lunch at a Chinese restaurant? Then off to Tai-Pai. Even without a reservation, you could get a table on Saturday lunchtime and the friendly waiter would show you to your seat. The menu offers a good selection of dishes. And lunch is always affordable. And a soup or spring roll is also included. The serving staff are very friendly. The drinks come quickly. And the food comes quite quickly too. I recommend the duck. Simply delicious. And the portion, even with the rice on the side, is filling. The toilet facilities are clean and well maintained. However, it can only be reached via a small, narrow staircase. I can only recommend the restaurant.

As a family we were traveling in the southern part of the city and had an appetite for duck in a Chinese restaurant. The reviews on Google were pretty decent. Unfortunately, this will be the only time we ate here. We had crispy duck with noodles twice and chicken with noodles once. The portions were very manageable and all the noodles had a spicy taste of their own. Definitely not to our taste and not appropriate for the cost.

After today's visit in October 2024, I can increase my review again from 4 to 5 stars. The food is still delicious and the service was significantly improved today. Recommended for connoisseurs of Chinese cuisine.

Chinese men have been cooking fantastic food in the southern part of the city since 1961. The first owner was Dr. Ma, who had a second restaurant opposite the market hall. For me, Tai Pai is the best Asian restaurant in the city.

Delicious food in generous portions. We had parried fish and crispy chicken and a soup as a starter and both were delicious, the meat in particular was very tender. The chillies advertised as hot were actually really hot - a big plus. The service was very friendly, attentive and quick. Not an absolute highlight, but worth a visit if you're really hungry and have an appetite for Asian food. The price is absolutely proportionate if you take the drinks into account.

Be careful with their price menu, as 2 different charges. Chines wording showed 20% higher charges.

Top restaurant for Chinese food! I have been a guest for many years and am very satisfied.

Diverse and delicious dishes. I find the sauces to be a bit uniform. The duck is delicious, a little very crispy here and there. Courteous service.

We always enjoyed being here, but unfortunately things have deteriorated a lot. The quality of the meat is good, but the sauces are so lightly seasoned and therefore tasteless that the whole meal is ruined. Soup and spring rolls were disastrous.

We were served very nicely and the food was excellent. We would be happy to come back again.

Food tasted very bad and very expensive

The service is nice, but it can sometimes take a while for the cellar to come to your table. When you have a request, you are not always served straight away. This can take several minutes. Highly recommended.

No.82 Duck was not cross and the rice unfortunately didn't taste like anything. We ordered and it came with raw rice, some sauce separately, unfortunately without vegetables and the dry duck. Rice couldn't be replaced with pasta either. The staff was otherwise friendly.

Freshly prepared food and friendly staff. Homemade spring rolls with beef get a recommendation, as does the sautéed chicken fillet. Vegetables cooked perfectly. Clear recommendation!

Had the crispy sweet-sour-spicy duck from the lunch menu. It was very good. Next time, I'll try the soup instead of the spring rolls. The service was quick and attentive, the price was right, I would happily come back.

Compared to other restaurants in the area, the ambience is more sophisticated and also cleaner. The quality of the food sets the restaurant apart from other Chinese restaurants. The price level is still acceptable. Unfortunately, foods described as spicy are not actually spicy. The staff is quick and attentive.

This restaurant serves Chinese as you used to know it. Pure Omami taste and top service. The best Peking soup in all of Hanover. The baked banana with ice cream is also highly recommended. My regular restaurant in Hanover.

The service we were able to enjoy today was characterized by a high level of politeness and attentiveness. Plates were preheated and our little dog even got a bowl of water.

This Chinese guy was good for us the first time. This was our second time there and it was disappointing. Somehow there were no fresh vegetables in it. Hmm 🤔 We found it carelessly prepared. My dish had peas on the normal menu, but they are no longer part of the dish. Lt. Statement from the service person. Both dishes somehow tasted the same. Conclusion: There are better ones for us.

Erstmalig war ich 1969 im Rahmen einer Weihnachtsfeier hier. Es war, soweit ich mich erinnere, sehr gut. In den letzten Jahren war ich mittags immer wieder einmal zum Essen hier und war bisher immer sehr zufrieden. Ich kann diesen "Chinesen" sehr empfehlen.

I had dinner at Arc En Ciel yesterday and that's why I have to praise the Thai Pai! The food, the taste, the service, the ambience!!! 10 out of 10! I always enjoy coming to Thai Pai. I definitely won't go to another Chinese place again.

The food there is very tasty. The lunch menu is very cheap. 10.90 for a plated meal is absolutely fine. I had a large portion of egg rice with vegetables and chicken. There was even a large spring roll beforehand.

Heute besuchten wir das erste Mal das Restaurant nachdem wir für 18 Uhr telefonisch reserviert hatten. Als wir ankamen, war das Restaurant überschaubar leer und wir konnten uns die Plätze aussuchen und zeitnah bestellen: 86 Ente in Scheiben, gebraten und geschmort mit Kohl, Morcheln und rotem Paprika***, scharf* und H10 Drei Kostbarkeiten Riesen-Garnelen, Rindfleisch, Hühnerfleisch, Tonku-Pilzen, Bambus und Knoblauch*, dazu 1 Bier und 1 Silvaner Weißwein. Nach ca. 15 min. wurde das Essen brutzelnd heiß serviert und ma fühlte sich in „ gute alte Zeiten“ beim Chinesen zurück versetzt. Der Geschmack, die Präsentation, alles authentisch und sehr lecker. Die Preise - den Bedürfnissen angepasst. Mittlerweile war das Restaurant gut gefüllt und wir ließen es uns schmecken! Vielen Dank an die Wirtsleute und das freundliche Personal!

Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Die Gerichte, u. a. mit Ente, Rindfleisch und Huhn waren lecker, die Servicemitarbeiter:innen sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Simply amazing Chinese! The menu has a huge selection with large portions. The customer service is the best I have had in Germany with the staff checking up on me midway & even including a complementary drink.

Wir haben Abends gut gegessen. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam, die Wartezeit okay, das Essen frisch und nicht wie so oft warmgehaltenes Büffet. Bei der Ente hätte etwas mehr Gemüse sein können ansonsten alles prima.

Das die Eingangstür mit einem Knall zufiel ist ein technisches Problem und hatte keinen Einfluss auf das folgende lecker Essen die Gemüsesuppe war heiß bis zum letzten Löffel und der Ententeller hat bei uns den höchsten Sättigungsgrad erreicht, die räumliche Lautstärke etwas erhöht aber sonst alles prima.

Ich habe einen Hund mittleren Alters mit nur 3 Beinen aus der Küche raus laufen sehen !!!!

Zeer de moeite waard! De Hongkong eend was voortreffelijk. Prijzen waren zeer redelijk voor deze kwaliteit.

Selten so schlecht asiatisch gegessen. Das Rindfleisch war unterirdisch, vom Geschmack schon fast so als wäre es verdorben! Im Bratreis findet man Gemüse aus der Tiefkühlpackung. Das Essen ist geschmacklich flach und am Ende schwimmt eine Ölpfütze auf dem Teller. Vom unfreundlichen Service möchte ich gar nicht erst anfangen. Wirklich enttäuschend.

Man kann sogar draußen sitzen, wenn man möchte. Ansonsten alles okay soweit.

Having been to this restaurant several times over the years, we really enjoyed their food and service. The restaurant is clean and nicely organized, the staff, Louis and Xiaozheng are attentive and friendly. They often recommend authentic dishes that quench our hunger for real Chinese food in a foreign land. Have been here so many times with friends and everyone is very impressed with the food and service. This is my all-time favourite Chinese restaurant in Hannover, highly recommend it!

Ich bin jetzt schon paar mal hier gewesen und ich muss einfach mal ein großes Lob an die Menschen geben die bei TaiPai arbeiten. Essen schmeckt super Vorallem das Menü: H4 kann ich einfach nur empfehlen, wirklich wow lecker! Service super weiter so, lieben Gruß an alle!

Wir waren mit einer relativ großen Gruppe dort was eindeutig zu viel für das Restaurant war, trotzdem waren die kellner höfflich und haben offensichtlichh ihr bestes gegeben um sich um uns zu kümmern. Das Essen kam zeitlich gut an und war ebenfalls von einer sehr guten qualität, insegsamt ist es nur weiter zu empfehlen.

Essen leider nicht mehr so gut wie früher. Die Qualität und der Geschmack haben deutlich nachgelassen. Immernoch ok, aber die Klasse der früheren Jahre sehe ich leider nicht mehr.

If you miss Chinese food during your long stay in Germany, this Tai-Pai Chinese restaurant can be good choice. Food has big portion so if you like two us, doesn't eat much, you can order main course/meat/seafood 1 portion & veggie, it's already served with white rice, they will offer with chopstick or spoon. Their service were wonderful. Feel very welcome! Xie xie! Will come to visit if we are at Hannover.

Sonntag Nachmittag essen gewesen nach einem kleinen Ausflug. Es gab freie Tische draußen und drinnen. Die Bedienung war Aufmerksam und stets zur Stelle. Das Essen frisch zubereitet. Wir waren schon öfters hier und werden auch wiederkommen.

Die gebratenen Nudeln waren nicht so mein Geschmack. Zu wenig Gemüse und Gewürze. Aber die Portion war riesig. Mein Mann hatte Hühnchen , das war sehr lecker und die Frühlingsrolle sehr gut gefüllt und lecker
