Excellent service and the "Peking duck"... a real treat! We'll be back!

Absolutely perfect! We had ordered Peking duck for five people at the "round table" a few weeks in advance and were there yesterday, November 22, 2025. Our table was ready, and the food and service were very friendly and attentive. The appetizer was fantastic, and the main course was simply delicious. Dessert could be chosen from the menu, or, if you didn't want dessert, you could order something like a cappuccino instead. All of this was included in the price of the Peking duck. In short: Highly recommended and no longer a hidden gem. We've been here several times, including for the highly recommended lunch menu. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant without reservation. Many thanks to the kitchen and the extremely friendly staff.

Somewhat cramped seating with high noise levels, but good food.

Everything was just as it should be in a Chinese restaurant. Friendly and fast service, even though it felt like all the tables were occupied on a Saturday, despite the restaurant's size. We were very satisfied with the food. We'd gladly come again!

I've been a customer for about 19 years, and the atmosphere is very cozy, the service is always perfect, and they even speak French. I've tried almost all of the dishes, and everything tastes simply divine. Please keep it up. I can and must recommend this restaurant.

ATTENTION VEGETARIANS & VEGANS: The food was delicious. We both ordered the 156 from the vegetarian selection and asked them to please prepare it vegan. They had no problem with that. However, apparently, the unvegan aspect of the vegetarian dishes was chicken broth, which isn't even vegetarian.

The "Great Wall" is an integral part of "Groß Buchholz." A Chinese restaurant that has maintained a consistently high standard for decades. On Whitsunday, every seat was reserved at lunchtime, yet our Peking duck (for four adults and two children) was perfectly prepared and tasted exceptionally delicious! And all this with a very moderate wait time. We received friendly and attentive service (as always). Everything went smoothly, and we will definitely be back.

I was at the Große Mauer restaurant today and was completely satisfied! The duck was absolutely delicious – crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. You can tell the quality and love go into the cooking here. The side dishes were also perfectly balanced and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I'll definitely be back – a definite recommendation!

This was the best meal I've ever had, and I would come back again and again. I highly recommend everything. The interior design is truly beautiful and perfectly fitting, and the service is really good and always very attentive. I highly recommend it.

Wir haben heute am 30.05.2025 abend um 21 Uhr essen zum mitnehmen bestellt . zweimal gebratene Nudeln mit Garnelen . Wir sind sehr sehr enttäuscht weil das Essen ungenießbar war. Total trocken wie gummi kein Geschmack . Wir vermuten das die Nudeln schon in Box aufgewärmt wurden ist. Wir haben insgesamt um die 40 Euro da gelassen. Die gebackene Bananen waren schon durchgeweicht und leicht sauer. Diese lokal durfte nicht weiter existieren da geht's nicht mit rechten Dingen zu. Ich rate jedem ab dieser lokal zu besuchen.

We love this Chinese restaurant and are happy to drive a few kilometers for it. In our opinion, this is the only Chinese restaurant for miles around where you can sit comfortably AND eat very well. Despite the limited seating, it's definitely worth making a reservation. We particularly enjoyed the vegetable soup and the truly crispy roast duck. The duck is served on a platter with various side dishes, and the sauce always comes in a separate bowl. That's a definite plus. The portions are very generous and the value for money is perfect. Furthermore, the ladies are all very friendly and accommodating. We'd like to say THANK YOU again 💝 for a lovely evening.

I love Asian cuisine and have tried many different restaurants. I visited the Great Wall twice and tried a total of three different dishes and two starters. I was very disappointed in the taste of the food. It tastes bland, salty and just plain boring. The baked chicken was sticky and old. The noodles are cooked to death and have a very strange aftertaste. Unfortunately no recommendation

Unrestricted recommendation! Great food. We like being there because the price/performance ratio is absolutely fine. I always eat wonton there as a starter. Main course sweet/sour duck. My wife chicken with fried noodles.

I think I can say that I have eaten at a lot of Asian restaurants. I didn't like the food here at all. The spring roll was extremely greasy, flattened and just tasted oily. I have never been served such a bad starter. The main courses were also far too fatty. Even though we were invited that evening, the overall visit was very disappointing. One seriously wonders why this restaurant was so busy. Are visitors satisfied with this level of performance? However, I would like to highlight one great point and that was the inflated price. Once and never again!

Die Große Mauer in Hannover Groß-Buchholz bietet eine solide chinesische Küche zu einem unschlagbaren Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Das Mittagsmenü B4 (12,50 €) umfasst eine Frühlingsrolle, gebackene Hähnchenbrust süß-sauer, Schweinefleisch Szechuan-Art (scharf) und gebackene Banane. Die Frühlingsrolle ist lecker, aber unspektakulär, während die Hauptgerichte geschmacklich überzeugen. Allerdings fällt die gebackene Banane nach den würzigen Speisen ab. Das Restaurant war mittags sehr gut besucht, was für seine Beliebtheit spricht. Insgesamt eine klare Empfehlung für preisbewusste Genießer chinesischer Küche!

The Peking duck was very tasty.

Yesterday our first visit - Peking duck for four. What a celebration! Simply delicious. Despite the restaurant being full to the brim, service was always at the table at the right moment - and funny without being annoying. Tip for those sensitive to glutamate: if necessary, ask for preparation without this Asian flavor enhancer.

If I'm honest, I can't understand why some people give this four or five stars. Apparently they've never been to a decent Chinese restaurant. Today we tried this restaurant. However, I have to honestly admit that my beef tasted and smelled really like beef from a stable. I have no idea how this can be achieved. In the end I thought that after this faux pas I could neutralize the whole thing for my taste buds with a dessert – baked banana. However, when the dessert arrived, the breading of the baked banana tasted and smelled extremely fishy. Most likely it was fried in the same deep fryer as any other fish parts. So it's an absolute no-go, and for me this store can't even be rated with one star. I hope I was able to save some people from having this experience.

We had dinner there on New Year's Eve. It was full, so the service wasn't that good. We waited almost an hour for the food. But the food was good.

Brought to the restaurant by friends. The starters, main courses and desserts were served to all 4 people at the same time and were all excellent! Despite the high occupancy (pre-Christmas season!), the staff was friendly, attentive and “quick” (but not hectic). The price/performance ratio is absolutely right. We felt very comfortable; were the first, but certainly not the last, time in the “Great Wall”.

A variety of good Chinese dishes. The lunch menu is particularly recommended, as various combination dishes can be ordered when ordering The Great Wall in Groß Buchholz is famous for its Peking duck, but it must be ordered in advance.

We were in connection with a visit to the zoo at the Great Wall... coming from Göttingen... the restaurant was well attended, we had the sour spicy soup and the special Great Wall soup as a starter and the crispy duck with sprouts and the Dutch oven afterward Szechuan style as a main course. An extra bowl of sauce and fried noodles each... long story short, we combine activities all over Germany with a visit to Chinese restaurants... we love the cuisine so we know a lot of them... this restaurant is by far the best what we experienced... food was a pleasure, service perfect combined with friendliness. Sauces are a dream... roasted duck that is second to none and I say again that we have many, many comparisons around Germany and abroad... We look forward to visiting you again soon in conjunction with a Chris de Burgh concert.. . it was an experience for us...

As soon as you enter the restaurant, which actually looks quite small from the outside, you are immediately greeted in a very friendly manner by the service. Once inside you notice that the restaurant is larger than expected. The service is very well coordinated and as a guest you are very quickly directed to a free table. When it comes to choosing dishes, there really is something for everyone. From sweet to spicy and vegetarian to meaty. The duck dishes are particularly recommended. The best duck I've had so far. The meat was very juicy and tender. There are some Chinese phrases printed on the placemats for you to learn, which you can use immediately when ordering or requesting an invoice. The waitresses will be happy to help you with the correct pronunciation. Language course and culinary tour in one. Our overall impression is: Very good! We will definitely come back.

TOP for years! We are happy to order from the Great Wall and take the food home with us. We also eat on site from time to time. Both are really recommended. When we take the goods with us, everything is always well packaged and therefore stays really warm until we get home. The food is always prepared very quickly and can be picked up quickly. When we eat there the atmosphere is really nice. We've never had any trouble getting a table as there's a large room at the back and the staff are really friendly. When it comes to the food, it can be said that the quality of all the dishes is really very good and we have always enjoyed it. Individual requests were also taken into account. Keep it up! Enttäuschend!!! Es fing alles so gut an.... Tisch war reserviert, Serviererin war nett, wir konnten ziemlich schnell unsere Bestellung aufgeben und das Essen ließ nicht lange auf sich warten. Die Vorspeisen kamen schnell und es schmeckte auch gut. Die Hauptgerichte kamen bereits so früh, dass wir noch gar nicht mit der Vorspeise fertig waren. Dann bestellte ich Soße nach, die kam erst nach dem zweiten Versuch, diese Soße zu fordern....., leider war das Fleisch bereits kalt. Der Nachtisch lief wieder reibungslos. Als ich dann die Rechnung haben wollte, musste mein Mann erst einmal an die Theke gehen, um Jemanden zu uns zu holen, weil niemand der Kellner/Innen imstande war, auf unsere Handzeichen und Rufe, zu reagieren. Wir warteten und warteten.....nichts geschah. Erst als wir alle aufstanden und unsere Jacken anzogen, kam Bewegung in die Servicekräfte. Alles in Allem war das Personal völlig überfordert und absolut nicht aufmerksam den Gästen gegenüber. Sehr schade!!! Nach dem Essen in der Nacht, bekam ich starkes Sodbrennen, Kopfschmerzen und Übelkeit, welche bis zum nächsten Abend anhielten. Zuviel Glutamat....reines Nervengift war die Hauptursache. Die zukünftigen Besuche beim Chinesen kann ich mir sparen!!! Sehr schade!!!

We order a Peking duck for the first time. The duck was juicy and crispy. The menu was served very attractively. Except for the dessert, baked ice cream, the dough was too thick and not really cooked through. The service was friendly.

The best Chinese restaurant in a long time. It was the first visit there. The restaurant was packed (Saturday) and it was a good thing we had reserved a table. The ambience was completely to our liking. The service staff were friendly and quick. The food was delicious and plentiful. Unfortunately we come from the Hanover region and therefore have a longer journey. But we'll definitely be back. The restaurant is also suitable for wheelchair users.

Been there for the first time. Crispy duck and chicken eaten. Both types of meat are tender to eat. Delicious vegetables with it. Well seasoned. No long waiting times for food and drinks. The service friendly and attentive. I would like to go there again.
