Suvadee Thai Restaurant in Frankfurt am Main

My review is based on my impression today and my last visit, which represents a significant decline compared to my experiences over the past few years, during which I ate lunch here every two to three months. The restaurant opens at 12:00 sharp. Today, starting at 11:55, there were initially nine, and later more, guests waiting in front of the entrance, only to be turned away with the reminder that the restaurant opens at 12:00. Upon entering, we were immediately informed that we could only stay for one hour. We ordered two dishes from the lunch menu, so the food arrived within minutes, followed a few minutes later by our drinks. The food was okay, or rather, average. The restaurant was packed. My plate was cleared away from me as soon as my cutlery was put down, even though my table companion was still eating. Her plate was also practically snatched from the table as soon as she finished eating. It was 12:30. A short time later, a waiter came to the table, interrupted our conversation, grabbed the water bottle without asking, and tried to empty it into our half-full glasses. This led to an unpleasant discussion about how we neither wanted this nor considered it appropriate. We practically had to wrest the bottle from him. He reminded us again that we only had 60 minutes. Exactly, and we would like to eat in peace! At 12:45, he was back at the table to collect our payment. Apparently, we had finished. I understand the need for efficient service and business acumen, but that shouldn't be confused with inconsiderateness and rudeness. Perhaps a little more flexibility in letting guests in and maybe less stress at the table would be appreciated. Everyone wants to relax during their lunch break and, of course, get back to work as soon as possible. If the restaurant is nothing but hectic and unfriendly, you're better off eating in any cafeteria. Enough said!

A very nice Thai restaurant, in keeping with the culture. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, ready to help you choose the right dish if you're unsure. Wide selection of dishes with rice, rice noodles, etc., including chicken, beef, pork, etc.

Delicious and generously portioned

Located in the heart of Frankfurt near the Hauptwache, Suvadee has been a fixture for decades. Its excellent value for money ensures a consistently full house around lunchtime. Light Thai cuisine keeps guests happy. The fish fillet with crisp vegetables and oyster sauce, or the melt-in-your-mouth spicy pork with baby corn and snow peas, are highly recommended, as are the homemade spring rolls as a starter.

I feel like the taste and spices has been toned down a lot to suit local's preferences. There are some other thai restaurants in Frankfurt that i find better. Price here was totally acceptable and is a bit cheaper than the other restaurants. I gotta agree with a lot of review here that the service was amazing and super friendly.

My family and I visited Suvadee during our recent trip to Frankfurt, and we were truly impressed. Thong took wonderful care of us and made sure we felt looked after throughout our meal. The food was delicious—especially the fried rice and noodles with crispy chicken, which were outstanding. For dessert, the mango rice pudding was heavenly. The appetizers were a bit of a letdown compared to the main dishes and dessert, but overall the meal and service were excellent. Thong made us feel completely at home, and the manager or owner, a kind and sincere Philippine lady (we’re sure she will know we mean her), added to the warm atmosphere. If you’re in Frankfurt and want excellent Thai food, look no further. Having tried other places around the city, we can confidently say this is by far the best.

Very friendly staff and good food, lots of choice – there really is something for everyone here!

We went there on a Thursday (early evening) without a reservation, which we were lucky about. It got busier and busier, which speaks to the quality. And that's exactly how it was: great atmosphere in the restaurant, clean, very friendly staff, and the food (appetizer and main course) was delicious. We'll definitely come back (next time with more than two people or later, but we'll probably make a reservation just to be safe) and highly recommend this authentic restaurant! :)

I feel like I've known this Thai restaurant for decades. It was good again this time. I ordered an appetizer platter for two, followed by scampi and duck in tamarind sauce. Very tasty and very friendly service. I also had a Long Island Iced Tea and a lychee spritzer.

Good food and pleasant service, but every evening I've been there, it's been very warm and unpleasantly stuffy inside. I also saw mice in the restaurant. When I asked the staff about it, she said yes, they keep coming from outside. I won't be going there anymore.

I ordered through the app and am very pleased with the packaging. The food was really delicious, but I don't quite understand why the papaya salad costs over €30—that's really expensive. Nevertheless, everything was fine and very tasty!

My Thai partner and I have been visiting this restaurant since the 90s, always a stopover worth it in Frankfurt. The food used to be excellent, and the wooden Thai carving interior felt charmingly old-fashioned. On our recent visit, however, we were disappointed. Service is still lovely and attentive, but the Thai food has lost all finesse and originality. The beef salad had little in common with the authentic dish, the chicken Krapao was oily and salty, and even the omelette far below expectations. Sadly, a place we once looked forward to has lost its appeal.

Suvadee is usually very busy at lunchtime and has been offering excellent Thai cuisine for many years. The staff is very attentive and dedicated. A highly recommended signature dish is the chicken in a sweet and spicy sauce with cashew nuts and basil (Gai Pad Nam Prig Pauw). Unfortunately, there was a slight quality issue recently regarding the succulence of the meat (possibly pre-prepared?), and prices have risen considerably, hence the current rating of only 4 stars.

There's a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The food was very tasty and authentic. The staff was very friendly. It doesn't look like it from the outside, but the interior of the restaurant is tastefully decorated.

Meine Kollegen kannten das Restaurant schon daher haben wir heute unser Mittagessen genossen. Die Mittagskarte ist angenehm groß und die Preise annehmbar. Die Portionen waren natürlich etwas kleiner. Wenn man danach noch arbeiten muss aber sehr gut. Eine Empfehlung.

As a Thai person, the food was unfortunately very disappointing! It's definitely not authentic Thai food! We were served something that had absolutely nothing to do with the Thai sausage (Sai ​​krok Isan)! We immediately returned it, and the waiter laughed at us and said he'd bring us the real/original ones? Das Restaurant liegt etwas versteckt in einer Passage. Freundlicher, schneller Service und leckeres Essen sorgen dafür, dass ich immer gerne wieder komme. Leider sind aufgrund von Gästebeschwerden keine Hunde mehr im Restaurant gestattet. Preislich bewegen sich die großen Portionen der Hauptgerichte mit Vorspeise und großem Getränk um 30,- € pro Person.

Found this restaurant as it had the latest closing hour (10:30pm) in town for Asian food. The tom yum clear soup was clean and aromatic, but the portion was to little (could have added more soup to the bowl to make it more hearty). The som tum (papaya salad) was authentic and real comparing to som tum you could buy on Bangkok street food. Usually it’s not easy to find the real of som tum while traveling in Europe or the U.S. / Canada. I like the som tum version here. The staff were so friendly and helpful, esp the guy wearing glasses. We had interesting conversations while dining. Overall, I would highly recommend this restoran when you are in Frankfurt center.

Would give it 0 stars if I could! First feeling of trickery was having a menu outside the restaurant with way cheaper prices than the actual dishes. Main courses cost around 19-21 euros per dish and portion sizes are TINY for the price. We ordered a beef and chicken dish, both we're EXTREMELY SALTY and the meat tasted defrosted rather than fresh. When it came time to pay the male waiter kept asking for a big tip, when I said I wanted to only pay the price on the bill, he kept mentioning a tip. We told him we didn't like the food and it was salty, he refused to negative feedback and kept just saying it's the style of the food here. NEVER AGAIN! There are lots of bad restaurants in Frankfurt but so far this is the worst I've experienced!

Firstly, the food has deteriorated very badly and secondly, the waitress is very dependent on tips! The menus are not at all justified by the cost, as you can definitely taste a lot of glutamate and too much oil is used. After eating I also had severe stomach pain. There are much better Thai people in Frankfurt who cook authentically and without MSG!!!! I've been eating here for several years and it's my last time because it's just a terrible experience.

Everything was tip top, at first glance my group didn't want to go in because the chairs were right in the gallery and it seemed very strange to many of us, but then everything turned out differently. We went to the entrance and were so surprised that we were just magically drawn in and when we found out that the restaurant was called Engel, everything was clear to us. The food here is truly heavenly. Everything freshly prepared and very tasty. Really highly recommended and I personally am not at all surprised that the restaurant has received so many awards. It was a culinary poem and a real pleasure to eat there. I'll come back on my next visit because everything was great, including the staff. At this point, thank you for the wonderful time and the wonderful atmosphere that was created.

Visited for lunch as it was crowded. They had an affordable lunch menu. I had fried rice with chicken and shrimp. The portion was so large that I got tired of eating it halfway. It was a small surprise that it came with lychee.

Suvadee Thai Restaurant offers an overall average experience. The menu includes a solid selection of dishes, the typical Thai flavors are evident, but often lacks the fresh and bold flavors that you would expect from authentic Thai cuisine. The service is very polite. The atmosphere is nice and authentic. The Thai iced tea with milk deserves special mention, it is very tasty. In terms of price, the restaurant is in the middle range, which is appropriate in relation to the quality of the food. All in all, not an outstanding restaurant, but not a bad one either - fine for a quick Thai lunch, but nothing that leaves a lasting impression.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed. I think the price is relatively high, which is ok if you can expect the service and/or food to be top! Unfortunately the service wasn't good! I ordered a beer and - despite the restaurant being empty - it took ages (more than 5 minutes) for it to arrive. Then I ordered my dish and said both the number and the name of the dish. 15 minutes later I was served another dish with the wrong number. I then replied that I didn't order the 84, but the 85, and the waitress said "Oh, yes, 85."... But after looking at the menu, it was actually really the 84. She didn't want to believe it at first and she did then taken away again. In the meantime a colleague came and made fun of me and asked if I really wanted the 85... then they joked about me the whole time - I heard it from far away. Then my food came and I was really disappointed with the taste for the hefty price of over €20. It wasn't bad, but it didn't taste very expressive either. In the end I wanted to pay and instead of being told again that they were sorry that they had brought the wrong dish, it was more than a strange situation for me. And last but not least, the bill wasn't correct either. They explained to me that this dish wasn't in the cash register and that they had therefore charged a different dish plus a little more. In the end the amount didn't match what I would have had to pay, but I also wanted to get out of the restaurant and didn't feel like arguing. It's a shame actually, because the ambience is really nice visually and in terms of the location.

I love this place. Stopped in for a quick beer , espresso and spring rolls. Amazing. People are so nice. The inside is beautiful. Clean bathrooms and kid changing station.

Vegetarian food 20 euros, a small soup that is finished with max 4-5 spoons 6.70 euros. There is a limit to expensive prices and you are exceeding that limit. Never again !!! Not recommended and the food is only so-so.

We went here with 8 people because of the very good reputation at the time. The atmosphere in the passage is totally raucous. We sat down and ordered, (around 20-25 EUR per dish) quite expensive for a Thai. My colleague ordered without chilli and it was still served spicy. Otherwise the food was very good. What I don't think is possible is to bring us a bowl of rice and charge for the second one for 8 guests?! That makes no sense if a bowl for two guests is being served at the next table. Service Nice and authentic but there are better ones for less money in Frankfurt.

HI, Everything is good there. It's just a shame that the new generation is ruining everything that their parents worked hard for. but that's how it is in life. I've been coming there with my wife for years and we always order four dishes. Sometimes five and we barely have room on the table. Our bill for two is always at least €100 plus a 10% tip. This Saturday, June 15th, we want to go there again with three more people, a total of five people. That means we need a lot of space. Then I called and maybe the junior boss was on the phone and I asked if we could get the big table because we needed a lot of space. Then he arrogantly tells me no because perhaps a large group can still come and he probably wants to take the risk for regular customers too. I noticed that I couldn't talk to anyone and it was no use teaching the inexperienced young boss because he probably didn't have much money. It's just like that when someone takes over their parents' business without working hard for it a day. then I decided to leave my at least €200 somewhere else. Your own fault.
