Sushi Haus in Essen

Unfortunately, that wasn't so pleasant. Visit on August 14, 2025. We sat outside, which was cozy and not as cramped as the rather cramped interior. The service was good, but I was very disappointed with the sushi. Every other piece fell apart when you picked it up, even if you looked at it askance. The wrapping on the maki was "too tight," and the seaweed strip on the omelet nigiri didn't hold at all. The rice was too dry. Unfortunately, you couldn't cover it with sauce that way. The taste was OK.

I went there to pick up some food. Everything was fresh and of very good quality.

The ramen I ate tasted like store-bought noodles, so I didn't get the flavor I was looking for. We had sushi as an extra, and it was very good. For those who only want to eat sushi, I'd say the price and taste were good.

We ate chicken that was unfortunately undercooked. After noticing this, we immediately pointed it out. Unfortunately, we were told that we still had to pay because we had already eaten some of it. We would like to emphasize that we were very hungry and therefore only realized after the second piece that the chicken was undercooked. In our opinion, the approach to food should be different. We would have at least appreciated some consideration or a friendly conversation.

We were satisfied. The sushi was fresh and delicious. Not as good as Miga's, but still a worthy alternative.

I really like it there because the food is wonderful. It's sushi, not the kind you'd expect from a buffet. It's right in the middle of Rüttenscheid, but slightly hidden away. I had miso soup and a small selection of sushi 🍣, which was a treat. We should be more grateful for the small shops with the great masters and do our part for ourselves, our bodies, and our fellow human beings. This way, the world will be a better place for everyone for whom it isn't yet, happier for everyone who seeks and wants to share happiness, and at least satisfied for all the dissatisfied. Now that would be something 😁

Enjoying absolutely fantastic and authentic sushi in a relaxed and quiet corner of the RÜ is a soothing experience and is pure relaxation!

I know quite a few sushi places in the Ruhr area, but the little gems are the best!!! I'll definitely be back, highly recommended.

The quality of the sushi is excellent. Authentic, no-frills Japanese sushi is offered here. The miso soup is recommended.

Authentic sushi restaurant in Rüttenscheid. The food is great and the quality of the fish is also great. Small shop on a side street. I'd love to come back. Very relaxed by Rü standards, that's exactly how it should be.

The restaurant is a bit small but the food is very tasty. The fish seems to be of good quality and the ingredients are fresh. The only thing is that some rolls fell apart a little while eating, but overall it was a good experience. I would come back!

I enjoyed my time here a lot! Very authentic japanese food, in a cozy setting. The restaurant itself is not big in size, but had a great variety. Sushi tasted as fresh as it could be and very professionally made. The mint tea was also amazing. Plus, it’s always good that they don’t close mid-day during the weekends. Absolutely worth a visit!

A small restaurant. I think I was there for the first time around 1998. Back then there were small towels that smelled of lemon to clean your hands and if you wanted you could eat the sushi with your fingers.

Food poisoning is inevitable. After the visit I have to have my stomach pumped. Never again

We went without a reservation, but since we didn't want to sit outside, we easily found a seat inside in the evening. We ate miso soup, udon, sushi. We liked it very much, it's not the first time we came, we are regulars.

If you like sushi this is definitely a great place to have some high quality sushi! The food was delicious, I also tried some sake for the first time, overall a great experience!

Low-atmosphere, friendly service, food is so-so (biased)

Das Sushi-Haus ist das älteste japanische Lokal der Stadt Essen, und das merkt man an der Authentizität und tollen Qualität des Essens. Die Preise sind angemessen, der Laden ist sehr klein und man muss dementsprechend schauen, ob man einen Platz bekommt. Das Personal erinnert häufig an einen Familienbetrieb, was die Atmosphäre freundlicher macht. Ich persönlich esse sehr gerne die Bentobox, vorab Misosuppe und Wakamesalat (Seetangsalat), anbei einen Ingwertee.

Auf der Rüttenscheiderstrasse, gegenüber und etwa in Höhe des Girardethauses gelegen ist das Sushi-Haus. Im Sommer gibt es auch Tische draußen. Das Essen bietet eine grosse Auswahl an vegetarischen Speisen. Die Bedienung ist flott und das Essen wird zeitnah geboten. Die Tische sind eher zu zweit oder für Gruppen von bis zu sechs Personen zu empfehlen.

We came here to take some sushi out. For 5 people the total price was roughly 100 euro, which was really cheap and most of all, they tasted nice. Of course we didn’t expect it to be of so high quality as if in a more dedicated restaurant but for people who would like to grab some sushi and don’t want to spend too much money, this place can be recommended. While waiting i ordered some small food; generally the atmosphere there was friendly and relaxing.

Leider war ich doch sehr enttäuscht von dem Sushihaus. Die Speisen waren nichts außergewöhnliches. Der Thunfisch war eine winzige Portion zu hohem Preis. Man sitzt vor der Tür ungemütlich..... Leider eine negative Kritik von mir

Frischer geht's nicht. Ein kleiner unscheinbarer Laden mit leckerem, ehrlichen und frisch zubereitetem Sushi ohne "Schnickschnak" drumherum. Und auch der freundliche und Service lädt zum Wiederkommen ein.

Super lecker. Wir waren zu zweit da und sind bei den Dampfnudeln bald vom Stuhl gefallen. Wenn man die nicht probiert, hat man was verpasst. 😍

Ein wirklich tolles und authentisches japanisches Restaurant, das insbesondere durch die Inneneinrichtung einem kleinen Restaurant in Tokyo gleichkommt. Sowohl die gängigen Vorspeisen als auch das Sushi waren hervorragend. Ich empfehle vorbeizukommen und vor Ort zu essen.

Das Ambiente ist ausbaufähig aber dafür ist die Qualität der Speisen genial! Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Sushi ganz frisch zubereitet und super lecker. Lokal ist nicht so groß und schlicht ausgestattet. Service aufmerksam und freundlich. Alles top - immer wieder gerne.

Das Personal war äußerst freundlich. Der Laden ist ziemlich klein und die Einrichtung nicht besonders. Der Wakame Salat und Kimschi waren lecker. Der Fisch war okay, die Preise sind angemessen.

Some of the best sushi I've had. Teriyaki tempura roles were especially delicious. The inside is a little dated but this doesn't really impact your eating. The staff are lovely. Will definitely return next time I'm in Essen.

Sushi ist echt super lecker, essen ist sehr schön angerichtet. Preise sind Ok. Gutes Sushi kostet halt mehr als nen Schnitzel. 6 Maki für 3,5€ sind voll okey. Alles in einem eine klare Empfehlung wenn man Lust auf Sushi hat.

Die größtenteils sehr guten Rezensionen kann ich nicht ganz nachvolliehen. Geschmacklich leider nur okay und handwerklich absolut nicht der Bringer. Die Rolls sind schon beim Anschauen auseinandergefallen. Wasabi und Ingwer waren frisch, allerdings war die Wasabi-Menge absolut winzig. Vielleicht habe ich einen schlechten Tag erwischt, das kann ich nicht beurteilen. Mehr als 3 Sterne kann ich aber leider nicht geben. Werde wohl auch nicht wiederkommen.

Nettes kleines Lokal mit netter Bedienung. Sushi top Qualität und deshalb wohl auch etwas teurer als mancher Sushi Laden. Bestellungen zum mitnehmen sind immer frisch und such zum vereinbarten Zeitpunkt fertig. Immer gerne wieder.

Kleines, aber feines traditionelles Sushi Restaurant. Alle sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, qualitativ sehr hochwertiges Essen. Alles wird hier frisch zubereitet. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Eine gute Auswahl, auch in vegetarisch. Leider ist sehr oft Mayo mit dabei, die kann man aber auch ganz einfach abbestellen, da alles frisch gemacht wird. Ambiente kann man es nicht wirklich nennen, hier ist wirklich nur das Essen gut, dafür aber sehr gut! Bestellung zum Abholen klappt auch immer perfekt.
