Waren heute zum erstenmal dort da bei uns in der Stadt leider zugemacht hat. Wir waren begeistert von der Qualität des Sushi. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

An einem Wochentag kurz nach Ladenöffnung war es hier sehr ruhig, eine Reservierung wäre nicht notwendig gewesen. Empfehlen würde ich sie dennoch, denn das Essen ist wirklich sehr gut. Ich gehe meistens hauptsächlich auf Lachsgerichte, das auf dem Bild gezeigte Yokohama Set empfand ich als hochwertig und sehr lecker. Der Preis dürfte der Qualität entsprechend und angemessen sein, günstig ist es allerdings nicht. Das darf man bei hochwertigen Gerichten mit rohem Fisch aber auch nicht erwarten. Das Ambiente ist interessanterweise im Untergeschoss Richtung Toiletten interessanter als das, was ich im Gastraum sah (siehe Bilder), aber das bedeutet nicht, dass es schlimm war. Es blieb nur sonst nichts in Erinnerung. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und hat alle Fragen auch teilweise direkt mit der Küche angesprochen und es wurden auch Sonderwünsche in Bezug auf Anpassung der Zutaten einiger Gerichte erfüllt! Ich komme wieder.

Das war mit Abstand das beste Sushi, das ich bisher gegessen hab. ;)

Seit wir das Sushi Bistro Byakko vor drei Jahren entdeckt haben, bestellen und essen wir regelmäßig dort. Mein zwölfjähriger Sohn ist regelrecht süchtig danach. Was mich am meisten beeindruckt, ist die durchweg hervorragende Qualität des Essens. Ich kann es nur wärmstens empfehlen. Ich möchte kein bestimmtes Gericht hervorheben, da uns jedes einzelne mit seinem Geschmack und seiner Frische begeistert hat. Der Koch ist ein Meister seines Fachs!

Wir waren zu zweit da. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen war absolute Spitzenklasse. Das ging vom erstklassig zubereiteten Reis über interessante Kreationen der Gerichte über eine sehr schöne Präsentation, bei der man die Professionalität und den hohen Anspruch an die eigene Arbeit wahrnimmt. Das schlichte und ruhige Ambiente rundet den Besuch positiv ab, das Essen steht absolut im Vordergrund und ist ein Erlebnis, wie ein Besuch in der Geschmacks-Galerie. Raumbedingt ist man der Küche sehr nah, was ich sehr schätze, wie oft hat man die Gelegenheit Meistern bei ihrer Arbeit zuzuschauen?

Bestes Sushi in Essen für mich!

Unsere absolute Nummer Eins wenn es um Sushi geht. Hier stimmt einfach alles. Sehr leckeres und frisches Essen mit handwerklichem Können zubereitet. Wir sind seit Jahren Gäste und können dieses Restaurant sehr empfehlen.

Alles in allem ein wirklich gelungener Besuch im Byakko. Die Sushi Variationen waren sehr lecker und schmackhaft. Die Qualität ist gehoben und hat das gewisse etwas. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ich glaube dass es in Nordrhein-Westfalen wenig Sushi in dieser Qualität gibt. Es ist alles liebevoll angerichtet, in höchster Qualität und dazu mit vernünftigen Preisen. Wer Japanisch mag sollte hier herkommen und es probieren. Service ist auch immer freundlich, jedoch sind aufgrund der hohen Qualität und frische immer etwas Wartezeit mitzubringen, 30-45min bis zur Hauptspeise sind realistisch. Am Wochenende sind Reservierungen zu empfehlen!

Essen war sehr gut aber die Preise sind ein bisschen hoch , Ambiente ein bisschen kühl, ein moderner japanischer Look hätte den Restaurant gut getan Service sehr langsam und ein bisschen unbeholfen aber sehr freundlich und bemüht, wer sehr gutes Sushi essen möchte ist hier richtig aber Zeit mitbringen es wird alles frisch zubereitet mit viel Liebe zum Detail wir kommen auf jeden Fall wider

Die guten Bewertungen sind verdient! Es schmeckt hier sehr besonders und authentisch. Wirklich einer der besten Sushi die ich je gegessen habe. Ist mir jetzt langfristig in Erinnerung geblieben. Einen kleinen Minuspunkt…es ist leider etwas dunkel vom Ambiente aber trotzdem okay.

Ich kenne mich mit gutem Sushi aus und hatte bisher in Deutschland kein Sushi-Restaurant gefunden, das meinen Hunger nach wirklich gutem Sushi stillen konnte – bis ich das Sushi Bistro Byakko besuchte. Der Reis: Es gibt den idealen Reis für Sushi, und die meisten Restaurants treffen ihn einfach nicht. Hier war er perfekt. Der Reis ist optimal gewürzt und klebrig genug, um zusammenzuhalten, dennoch spürt man die Textur jedes einzelnen Korns. Wenn ich etwas bemängeln müsste, würde ich mir etwas weniger Reis im Nigiri wünschen, um ein noch besseres Gleichgewicht zwischen Fisch und Reis zu erzielen. Der Fisch: Ich probierte Blauflossenthunfisch (hier selten zu finden), Jakobsmuschel, Aal, Makrele, Thunfisch und Lachs. Der Blauflossenthunfisch hat mich etwas enttäuscht – ich habe schon besseren gegessen –, aber wenn man keinen direkten Vergleich hat, wird man ihn wahrscheinlich lieben. Der Rest war jedoch hervorragend. Besonders die Qualität des Lachses und des Thunfischs hat mich beeindruckt. Der Service: Ausgezeichnet. Der Kellner war aufmerksam, kompetent und sprach freundlicherweise Englisch, wodurch wir uns sehr wohl fühlten.

Bereicherung für Essen. Außergewöhnlich guter Japaner

Worte können nicht beschreiben, was das Sushi mit mir macht. Noch nie haben so butterweiche, geschmackvolle, perfekt geformte, fluffige Lachs Nigiri meinen Gaumen berührt. Das Essen ist ein Kurztripp in Japans Sushiküchen.

Das erste mal seit langem würde ich 6 Sterne vergeben ! Wer sich hier beschwert hat einfach keine Ahnung oder will einfach nur meckern.....ich bedanke mich für einen schönen Abend mit perfekt guter Küche

Super Japaner, esse Sushi nur in ausgewählten Restaurants, da ich oft die Möglichkeit habe in Japan Sushi zu essen. Super Qualität, Geschmack und optisch eine Augenweide. Für dieses Erlebnis zahle ich auch gerne den entsprechenden Preis. Komme auf jeden Fall wieder. Vielen Dank.

Das Beste Sushi außerhalb von Japan und ein wirklich echtes Japanisches Restaurant (inkl. Zertifikat aus Japan). Das Essen ist unglaublich lecker, mit viel.liebe zubereitet und der Service war immer Top! Wir haben wirklich schon viel und in ganz Deutschland Sushi gegessen, aber saß hier ist mit Abstand das BESTE!

The food is an absolute explosion of flavor and of top quality! Lovely presented and visually stunning. The service was friendly, however, we waited almost 30 minutes before someone finally came to take our order (there were only two other tables occupied besides ours). Throughout the evening, no one else came except to clear the table and take payment (which also took a very long time). The ambiance is classic/elegant.

Delicious sushi! This was our second visit, and we enjoyed it immensely once again. There's a wide selection of different types of sushi, so there's truly something for everyone. You can either create your own or choose one of the pre-made dishes. We tried both, and everything was fantastic. The service was very friendly and attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant! This place is simply wonderful — exactly the kind of spot I’ve been missing. I’m a cook myself, with experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, and without exaggeration, these are the best sushi I’ve ever had. The fish is incredibly tender and fresh, the rice is perfect — one in a million — sticky enough to hold together, yet each grain remains distinct. The seasoning is spot on. I’m honestly amazed by the tempura proportions too; as someone who eats this daily, I know that even 5 grams of starch/flour to liquid can make a difference, and your chefs have found the perfect balance. I’m rarely this generous with praise, but if there were any small imperfections, I gladly overlook them in favor of your team’s remarkable skill and service. Thank you — I’ll definitely be back! 5 stars — and I’d kiss the chefs’ hands!😅😅

The sushi was absolutely top-notch—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell they place a lot of emphasis on quality here. The only minor drawback: the service was a bit slow, so we had to wait a bit longer. Nevertheless, the wait was worth it—I'll definitely be back for the sushi!

Simply fantastic! We had the Rüttenscheider Platter, and what can I say? It was delicious. Everything was fresh, perfectly balanced, and the taste was absolutely top-notch. In my opinion, the best sushi place in all of Essen, perhaps even in all of North Rhine-Westphalia. Anyone who loves sushi will definitely get their money's worth here. I highly recommend it!

It's incredibly delicious, the staff is very friendly, and if it's your birthday, the chef personally comes to congratulate you and sends you a photo. And they've also addressed the temperature issue, so they're open to criticism. Highly recommended. I'd love to come every weekend.

Einfach unglaublich, als ich das Restaurant betreten habe, umgab mich schon so eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt, und das obwohl ich alleine essen war! Das Sushi welches ich dort gegessen habe, kann ich mit keinem anderen vergleichen, es ist einfach köstlich und so wunderschön zubereitet. In dieses Restaurant zu kommen hat nicht nur meinen Hunger gestillt, sondern mir ein wohliges Gefühl dabei gegeben. Wirklich vielen dank für dieses Geschmackserlebnis!

I visited for dinner while on a business trip from Japan. The sushi is delicious for overseas, but it's really delicious!

I recently dined at Sushi Bistro Byakko and was very impressed. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a nice ambience. I particularly liked the service! Our waitress, a lovely blonde woman, was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Her smile and positive attitude added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. In addition to the great service, I was also impressed by the quality of the food. The sushi was very tasty and fresh. Overall, I would recommend this sushi restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic dining experience.

You can't eat better sushi in Essen!

This sushi was a 10/10. It really was perfect. Expensive doesn't mean good, but you get something for your money here. In my opinion, the ambience could be more unusual/decorative.

It was really delicious and fresh! We had a platter for two and were more than full! The sauces harmonized very well with the fish and the fried sushi variations were also perfect. There was a very tasty soup beforehand, which was included in the price. Definitely worth a visit!

I had the pleasure of eating at this amazing Japanese restaurant today and I absolutely love it! The sushi was simply phenomenal – and I say that as someone who has had great sushi in Tokyo. The quality here is in no way inferior, fresh, perfectly prepared and an absolute highlight in terms of taste. The atmosphere is wonderfully authentic and cozy, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. A special compliment also to the dessert: the ice cream was a crowning conclusion to a perfect meal. Thank you for this wonderful experience – I will definitely be back!

Unfortunately, the ambience leaves a lot to be desired (rather bare and therefore quite cold and not really inviting) so it was only a one-off visit to this local for us - because the good food unfortunately doesn't make up for the dreary and uncomfortable atmosphere :(

I'm a big sushi fan, I've already tried some expensive Japanese restaurants in Düsseldorf and I can say that the quality here is very good. I had the take menu and a yuzu tea. The rice has the perfect consistency, the fish is fresh and the flamed salmon nigiri is cooked to perfection. Service is also great! Best sushi in Essen at a good price-performance ratio. I'll be back!

I visited for the first time after being invited by a friend. I enjoyed really delicious sushi in Essen. It was more reasonable than Düsseldorf, where I live, and the fish was delicious. Next time I will order it with rust first.

Super tasty and fresh every time. The sushi is the best in the area. I can no longer eat sushi anywhere else as no one has come close to the quality and taste. Decent basic Japanese restaurant in a small town of Essen. I was told the better ones are in Dusseldorf. Service was slow on a Sunday night. All food seems to be sweeter than normal.

Japanisches Essen von höchster Qualität: Miso-Suppe, kleine Vorspeisen, eine gemischte Sushi-Platte und herrliches Mochi-Eis zum Nachtisch! Dazu ein nettes Ambiente in einer Nebenstraße in der Nähe vom Haumannplatz, ohne Parkplatzprobleme. Sehr freundlicher Service!

The service was super friendly, fast and competent. The sushi was of the best quality I have ever had in Japan. The “traditional sets” are well put together and have a great selection of different “classic” sushi. As usual for sushi, the price is a little higher but more than justified for the quality. All in all, really great and definitely deserves the 5 stars.

Zu Mittag gibt es eine kleine Karte, die aber das Spektrum des Restaurants gut abbildet. Die Bento-Box mit Hühnchen war lecker und hat eine kleine Vorspeise, Salat, frittierte Hühnchenteile, Reis, eine Misosuppe und Wasser enthalten. Alles war sehr gut zubereitet. Eine klare Empfehlung.

We have eaten at Byakko several times now and have always been thrilled. We were very impressed by the food and the hospitality. The chef/chef says goodbye to guests personally and politely, which is unfortunately rare these days. During our last visit, we even managed to get a table for 4 people on the same day when we called an hour later. You have to be lucky sometimes ;-) So just call, go and try it out. It's definitely worth it!

I happened to walk past it during my lunch break and was very surprised at how good the food tasted there. The miso soup alone surprised me, but the box with the mixed food was a hit. I look forward to eating here regularly and especially to trying the evening menu. Can really recommend a visit

A fairly bright restaurant, they have recently started offering a lunch menu, which includes a main course (udon, curry or bento), a salad and a glass of water. Very friendly welcome and very nice, modern atmosphere. The salad had a wonderfully delicious dressing and my karaage curry was delicious. The karaage was juicy, the curry balanced (I liked the potatoes with their skins on!) and the rice light and tasty. The only complaint would be that the water was served with ice, which I personally wasn't a fan of - perhaps you could give the option to leave it out. However, this is a small thing that hardly affected my experience. The restaurant seems to be quite full in the evenings, so a reservation would be advisable. I can't say anything about the sushi yet, but I'll come back in the evening.

Looking for well-crafted sushi, we ate at Bayakko yesterday. We really liked the first impression when we entered the restaurant. Nothing is flashy or intrusive. The ambience is bright and puristic. The service was very kind and friendly. The food is delicious. I don't want to write much at all. I let the pictures do the talking. Delicious.
