I rarely write a negative review! But the food at Sumo is unfortunately of very poor quality overall. The sushi rolls consist almost entirely of rice and advertised contents such as chicken or salmon are not recognizable. Everything is over-salted or over-sweetened and you can tell that the concept is aimed at sales. Never again for the money, it seems cheap at first glance, but that's deceptive! In Bielefeld you will find 100 better alternatives!

It was my first time eating sushi and I was pleasantly surprised. Quite expensive, but everything was very tasty and fresh. Was very busy on Friday evening. There is no peace and quiet there.

We chose the buffet last night and were disappointed. The food came burnt, with three portions. We didn't dare mention it again the third time, no sry from the kitchen. Because we are good eaters, people tried to take the tablet away from us twice and indirectly asked us what else we wanted to eat. I think it's outrageous, after all we left 175 euros in the store. Service very hectic and unfriendly, atmosphere like at the train station. Won't be coming back anytime soon, we've been a regular customer for a long time. The quality of the meat [lamb] has also deteriorated, very fatty. The other meat is often well cooked, with the finest shoe soles. Never again! The sushi was so dry and poorly rolled that it fell apart between the chopsticks. The rice was hard and undercooked. The store was packed to the rafters and the staff was completely overwhelmed and very unfriendly. We had all you can eat and continually received dishes that we hadn't ordered, others only came 2-3 rounds later. Sometimes things were literally thrown onto the table as you walked past, so much so that they almost flew off your plate. In the end we were reprimanded quite harshly and unfriendly because of the leftover food that we hadn't ordered. Conclusion: For the prices charged, the overall picture is a joke. You simply expect more - namely better service and better food. Apparently it's not about quality, just quantity.

We were there on Friday with 3 adults and 2 children. Since then everyone has had stomach pain, diarrhea and vomiting. Everything points to food poisoning, which both the pediatrician and the family doctor confirmed. I called on Tuesday and was supposed to come over. Conclusion: We were fobbed off with a ridiculous voucher for €60 and were told that we had eaten everything all together. Absolutely disappointing. The least we could have done would have been to refund the buffet price after we were flat for the last few days. Absolutely disappointed in my once favorite restaurant.

It was my first time in this store and never again! Limited selection of good sushi. The service is totally unfriendly and absolutely not professional. The old lady who was at the bar yelled at me outside in front of all the customers just because I wanted my 3-4 sushis packed and didn't understand paying an extra €9 for 3-4 pieces. Such behavior is not acceptable at all. Considering that we only paid €68 for all you can eat (+ drinks more of course), the food was far too meager. Plus the disrespectful customer service. I don't recommend it to anyone. There are a thousand times better sushi shops.

Arrived here with great anticipation and expectations were high. Just 1 minute after we placed the order, we were disillusioned: sushi like from the discount store. We arrived at exactly 5 p.m. and the restaurant had just opened. How I can get my sushi within a minute, which is also cold, is incomprehensible to me. Except for the Tako Yakis, none of the dishes arrived hot. It was lukewarm, like it had just come from a warming container. Very disappointing.

The store is nicely designed and the service is okay but that's about it. The food was a complete disgrace. The cheapest stuff you can get, grilled fish to death, sushi made from regular unseasoned rice. Culinary disaster for €37!! pp Would have been okay for 18.50 given the quality.

We ate at the Sumo Buffet on Wednesday evening, September 4th, 2024. Since Friday morning, all 4 of us have had stomach bugs with the same symptoms. We're not surprised by the reviews! It has been reported to the health department.

Make no mistake, definitely do not eat here. It was our first time as a family to eat there and never again. Similar to canteen. Food doesn't taste good. Flesh like rubber. Quality of sushi leaves a lot to be desired. The sushi looks horrible. They all fall apart. The sushi was messy when cut. Just bring warm dishes cold. Service itself admits that the food in this restaurant is bad. Far too expensive and the service was very cheeky and aggressive. There are better restaurants with good service.

I've often gone to sumo with my family and have always loved it. I really like the wide range and also the interior design. But I would like air conditioning because it can quickly become a reality because of the open kitchen. I went to Sumo for the first time 4 years ago and unfortunately I have to agree with the reviews about the decline in quality. We were there on Sunday and reserved a table in advance. We specifically asked to get a table outside when the weather was good. When we arrived I saw that all the tables outside were occupied. Because of the good weather, we also brought our 3-month-old puppy with us (but only because we made a reservation outside!) When I told the boss that we had reserved a table outside, she said there was no one left and that she had one inside has us. I pointed out to her again that we wanted a table outside and that we had a puppy with us who would probably find it too loud inside. She showed us a table inside and we sat down first. I then asked my friend to remind her that we had reserved a table outside. Luckily, my puppy wasn't scared at this point. When my friend asked her about it, she just said that she didn't have a table outside and if we wanted to sit outside we should come back in 1.5 hours. I then asked her if we could move as soon as a table outside became available. She became totally rude and said no because otherwise we would have to bring the food and drink from inside outside. What kind of service is this?! I come from gastronomy and service myself and that is not a service that I would give to my guests! It doesn't work at all!!! We called ahead because of the puppy and the man on the phone assured us that dogs were allowed, but no one was willing to bring water for the little one.

Had a few business lunches here with our company (30 people) and have been there privately around 50 times in the last few years. Extremely slacked off! Zero hygiene! Zero friendliness! You have lost us. We have given the store a chance often enough.

The quality of the food has decreased massively. High-quality ingredients are hard to find anymore. Sushi is defined by high-quality and fresh ingredients. As you can see in the picture, the sushi consists of 80% rice... you can hardly see any salmon or avocado, let alone taste it. And that was no exception, it was like that the whole evening. The other dishes also tasted very average to below average. We are very disappointed. For the money you can eat very good, high-quality sushi in Bielefeld. We won't be coming back...

Great atmosphere with the option to eat outside. The conditions were all very nice and friendly. The price is also very good for the food. The only drawback is that a sushi roll was not rolled well and was brought to the table once or twice without any content. It's still a great Shushi restaurant and we'll definitely come back again!

Deserved 5 stars. The takoyaki were to die for. Ordering via tablet is simple and clear. You can't complain about the price either. There were two of us, under 30 euros per person, without "all you can eat". The next culinary visit to Bielefeld is guaranteed to find its highlight here ;)

Ambiance is nice. We went there based on Google reviews. Sushi was not solid much apart. Beef with cheese (shoe sole with something in it).Sauce for the spring rolls (3 pieces) is enough for 1 maximum!! Ice cream was with ice crystals and the flavor of the table partner. There is a difference between chocolate and vanilla. The selection and quality of the food compared to other All You Can Est Sushi Bars is very small and the taste is poor. Aperol with still water (that's what we were told. It could have been stale sparkling wine. This was complained about. service Bad is put very kindly. Instead of clearing the table, used dishes are piled on top. While you're eating, something is briefly placed on your own plate because you need space. That doesn't work!!! Instead of walking around the table, people constantly reach over the table. Clear away glasses? Nope, why is there enough space on the table? We explained everything to the lady who charged us. She wanted to offer us a drink on the house. This is meant kindly but that doesn't make the whole experience good. That doesn't work at all

Yesterday we went for an all you can eat meal with the whole family. Was great as always. Everything is fresh and good quality, well prepared. The staff very friendly and quick. Unfortunately, my visit to Sumo in Bielefeld was a big disappointment. The dark ambience with its black furniture and the careless tea light on the table did not convey a pleasant atmosphere from the start. The service was unfriendly and the treatment of the guests was rather harsh. Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations. The quality left a lot to be desired, especially the rice for the sushi was still very hard and the octopus in the dishes was tough and not very tasty. The tako-yaki disappointed me as they were not convincing in terms of taste and seemed more like flour balls with tough octopus. The best dishes were still the fried shrimp and mushrooms, but they couldn't save the overall experience. In addition, the all-you-can-eat buffet had additional costs for sashimi, the quality of which also left something to be desired. In addition, everything was covered with a lot of mayonnaise, which seemed uncreative and unloving. All in all, I didn't find the price-performance ratio appropriate and unfortunately I can't recommend the Sumo in Bielefeld.

What happened to SUMO? Last year the quality and taste of the food was much better. Unfortunately now it is no longer the case. What I noticed is that the order slips are always left on top of the food, which is quite unhygienic because the service staff then has to put things in the food... The shrimps on the skewer were watery and you couldn't eat the grilled ones. The taste was very fishy, ​​which it shouldn't be. Some of the sushi quickly fell apart. It used to be more stable. The meat on the asparagus was tough and the asparagus wasn't amazing either. The SUMO has become more expensive and the quality has fallen.

I really like the concept and it's something different, but for this price you really should have hot sauce! You go to an Asian restaurant and ask for hot sauce and they only serve sweet and sour sauce. You really pay so much money for things that are 3 out of 5 and then there isn't even hot sauce. Hardly you believe it. Concept 5 of 5 Food 3 out of 5 No hot sauce 0 out of 5 That's why I give it 2 out of 5 stars for my taste. I just like to eat warm food, especially spicy food, and if that's not available then I don't like it anymore. Addendum: don't bother deleting it, do that until it stops.

The restaurant seemed very good at first glance and we went there because it had been very good in the past. This is clearly no longer the case! The food was mediocre to bad. And some of it looked like frozen food. And that at a price of a good 30 euros per person plus the cost of drinks. The “crispy” duck was wobbly, half fat and not crispy. The chicken tasted like frozen chicken schnitzel from Aldi. The noodles tasted burnt. The service staff were unfriendly and abrupt. Questions could not be solved or could only be solved by passing the questions on to other staff. There is also no sign of hygiene there. The pieces of paper with which orders are assigned to the respective table are IN the food! Even in the soups! So that every food that is served is touched beforehand by a waiter to fish down the slip. The fingers are then just wiped on the apron and we move on. A waiter with a bandage on his finger was also working that day. Especially hygienic if it ends up in food. The aprons are accordingly dirty. The health department is informed!

Absolut enttäuschend. Essen: schlechtes überfrittiertes Essen und zerfallendes Sushi aus dem Kühlschrank für fast 40 Euro (all you can eat). Wasabi komplett festgetrocknet in der Schale. Nur als Beispiele. Service: Gerichte werden kommentarlos auf den Tisch geknallt, Getränke wahllos abgestellt, halbfertige Speisen einfach abgeräumt. Fragen werden gereizt beantwortet. Ambiente: Laden absolut laut, es zieht extrem. Quintessenz: ich hätte lieber weiter Hunger gehabt.

Sehr sauber dort und sehr leckeres Essen würde immer wieder dort hin gehen. Wenn man bestellt hat, kam es sofort nach ungefähr 5 min.

Sehr schönes Lokal mit innovativem Bestellsystem. Über ein iPad kann alle 15 Minuten 5 Gerichte bestellt werden, welche dann nach und nach zum Platz gebracht werden. Es gibt eine sehr große Auswahl am Speisen und auch genügend vegane/vegetarische Optionen um Satt zu werden! Wer sich den Preis für das All-you-can-eat Buffet von 31-32€ (am Wochenende 32) leisten kann, macht hier definitiv nichts falsch!

Ist mein lieblings restaurant. Das essen wird über ein tablet bestellt und kommt schnell und schmeckt sehr gut. Leider bekommt man ab und zu mal ein Gericht das man nicht bestellt hat was nicht schlimm ist da ich eh alles esse. Zudem hat die Bekanntheit in den letzten Jahren zugenommen sodass man immer reservieren muss und die Preise stark angehoben wurden.

Sehr teuer, Essen hat mir persönlich nicht geschmeckt. Gerichte wurden wahllos am Tisch verteilt und konnten so nicht zugeordnet werden. Das Ambiente der Einrichtung war aber sehr gut.

Sehr laut aber qualitativ gutes Essen beim all you can eat. Essen kommt schnell auf den Tisch, manchmal leider aber auch falsch.

Ich komme dort seit einigen Jahren immer mal wieder hin, ich werde jedesmal wieder erkannt und man erinnert sich sogar noch an die Gespräche die bein letzten mal geführt wurden. Sehr liebenswertes Personal und lecker Essen! Einer unserer lieblingsläden!

Leider hat die Qualität sehr nachgelassen, viel zu salzig so dass man schneller satt wird. Die Sushis waren einfach so hingeklascht ( habe leider keine Fotos ) Für 32,90 € bekommt man definitiv besseres Essen !

Leider nicht mehr das was es mal war. Preise für das Buffet sind rauf und dafür die Qualität runter. Teilweise pappig, schlecht gerollt, geschmacksarm. Ein Tablet für alle, was immer wieder zu Fehl- oder Falschlieferungen führte. Die Krönung war das auf eine bestellte Kartoffelkrokette zwei Röstitaler kamen. Auf Nachfrage meinte die Bedienung, das sei aber die Kartoffelkrokette. Also ich war das letzte Mal da.

Der beste Sushi den ich je gegessen habe, alles super schnell und frisch! Das Personal war auch sehr nett, und das Ambiente wirklich gemütlich. War mein erster Besuch, ich werde Aufjedenfall wieder kommen 👍🏽

Falls ich irgendwann aus Bielefeld wegziehe, werde ich Sumo sehr vermissen! Super lecker und immer wieder ein schöner Abend!

Ohne Worte gutes Essen alles frisch zubereitet toll

Wir gehen dort mindestens ein mal im Monat essen selbst an unserem Jahrestag habe ich uns dort einen Tisch reserviert. Das Ambiente ist gemütlich, ab und an etwas laut aber für mich nicht störend. Das essen ist erstklassig und wird schnell serviert. Wer auf japanische Küche steht wird dort gut bedient.

Das Essen ist gut aber in letzter Zeit ist der Service deutlich schlechter geworden.

Wir kommen mindestens einmal im Jahr von weiter weg extra angefahren - und lieben es. Das Essen ist eigentlich immer lecker. Auch wenn es hin und wieder Glückssache ist, was ankommt. Bei 4 Leuten verliert man da gern Mal den Überblick. Der Service ist sehr vom entsprechenden Mitarbeiter abhängig. Da hatten wir schon jemanden, der gar nicht mit uns gesprochen hat und einige, die sich viel Zeit für uns genommen haben. Das Ambiente ist rein äußerlich unschlagbar. Leider ist das Restaurant immer so gut besucht, dass die Lautstärke wirklich hoch ist. Leider habe ich hier auch hin und wieder eine vollständig verdreckte Toilette vorgefunden. Was dann aber eher Schuld der Kunden war.

Tolles Ambiente, der Service ist super und die Serviceleitung hat sich immer nach unserem Wohlbefinden erkundigt. Die Kinder fühlten sich auch sehr wohl und hatten Spaß sich ihre eigenen Gerichte auszuwählen .

Man kann ganz gut da essen, aber die Qualität ist ein bisschen gemischt. Als wir da waren, war es rappelvoll und sehr laut. Nicht gerade authentisch. ;-) Eine ziemliche Massenabfertigung und insofern nicht das, was ich bevorzuge.

Vielleicht sollte das Management überdenken, wie solche Situationen in Zukunft besser gehandhabt werden können."

Freundlicher Empfang, man muss nicht unbedingt reserviert haben. Das All-you-can-eat ist eine tolle Sache: Man hat 2,5 Stunden Zeit, bekommt ein Tablet zum bestellen, ein Timer läuft zwischen den Bestellzeiten. Die Speisen werden sehr rasch gebracht. Getränke auch über diese Bestell-App. Da gehen wir wieder mal hin.

Waren oft dort und immer wieder war die Chefin (jing) sehr respektlos. Sie weiß nicht wie man mit Kunden umzugehen hat !! Sowas geht garnicht!! Bis niemehr Wiedersehen !!
