You can only make a reservation by phone, so I did this a month in advance. When we arrived my name wasn't on the list, but I explained to the waitress that I had called. After quite a long wait, we were able to temporarily sit at a table and were then moved (food not yet there). As compensation, the two of us were offered a free drink (very generous). So you solved the problem well, even if communication was difficult because the waitress didn't speak German or English well. In my opinion, this shows the authenticity of the Japanese restaurant. The food was great. The tempura was warm and crispy, the salmon buttery and flavorful and the tuna nigiri - hallelujah. Great fish quality, super soft, even if the rice is a bit hard. The matcha ice cream is simply perfect in terms of taste. The atmosphere was also pleasant, although we sat at a table pushed into the corner, which offered us privacy.

We ate our way across the map. The range of sushi fluctuated from world class (nigiris) to Lidl sushi and the rice could have used a little more stickiness. The makis could have been fuller and the price was very high The starters were good, but not outstanding; the edamame, for example, could have been... B. Needed a little more garlic Service was nice, atmosphere was very good.

If you want a real Japanese vibe and experience - come to this restaurant. It’s absolutely not a tourist place, or like foreigners seem to see Japanese food. It was an interesting experience for us. And very tasty and very fresh. Remember to book the table! I highly recommend Sumi. And keep in mind, that Japanese cuisine is far richer than sushi!

We were extremely disappointed with Sumi. When looking for an authentic Japanese, I unfortunately have to say that sumi is well below expectations and comes up significantly short when compared to nagomi, yabase or hyuga. The prices are high, the service speaks Japanese, the audience and clients are predominantly German/non-Asian. The karaage were crispy, that was delicious, would have liked it with kewpie mayo. The other chicken was too soaked. Sushi Rice was too hard. In principle I mark al dente, but here it was too grainy and too pressed and hard. Worked a lot with sauce but overall it was just ok to well. The quality of the fish was also not as high as originally expected in the pictures. Long waiting times and overpriced sushi, which we unfortunately rate with a maximum of 2 stars.

I never thought I would be able to eat fatty tuna in Germany, and it was so delicious😊 He also thought it was very delicious. This is also a restaurant that I would like to go to if I ever come to Düsseldorf 😊✨

Sumi is my absolute favorite restaurant in Düsseldorf—a visit here is a must every time I'm in town. The atmosphere is relaxed and stylish, the sushi is always fresh and of the highest quality. The menu offers a great selection and every dish is a real taste experience. The service is top and ensures that you feel completely comfortable. For lovers of Japanese cuisine, Sumi is a real insider tip and a place that simply cannot be missed.

So far the best sushi quality I have experienced in Düsseldorf. Lovingly decorated and the ambience stands out compared to other restaurants where guests are otherwise seated very closely. Here, however, it is very cozy with a pleasant atmosphere.

Particularly good sushi, excellent tempura and delicious meat dishes, homemade ginger ale and Kirin on tap in iced glasses. Reservation makes sense.

The food takes a long time to arrive and the portions are quite small. Something for in between - but the price is too high for that.

We had a reservation at 8 o clock, but when we arrived, the waitress told us that they signed for 9. They didn't offer any alternative to correct the mistake, so we just walked away. EDIT: The owner contacted us the day after and apologised for the mistake. He also sent us a voucher and told us to give them a second chance, so we accepted it and went for dinner today. The team was super nice, we tried many dishes and have to say that the quality is very high. We love Japanese food and have tried it in many different restaurants in the city. Some dishes here are unbeatable, like the ebi tempura, the handmade gyoza and the three-dishes-starter we will take them for sure also next time. Thanks again, we loved the way you handled the situation!

For the food it tastes so so authentic , what I didn’t like is the service as each time I finish a plate they immediately take it away , i know they want us to comfort but for me i don’t like that. Besides the menu prices it’s super expensive.

Sashimi und Sushi sind mittlere Qualität! Fokus sollte auf der Qualität des Fishes und weniger in der Dekoration liegen. Bei der Spicy Tuna Roll haben wir den Tuna vermisst. Die Weinauswahl könnte besser sein. Der Service war sehr nett und aufmerksam.

From the first bite I took, i immediately knew I'd come back to this restaurant. There are many great Japanese restaurants in Düsseldorf but this one must be one of the best ones I've been. It ticks all the boxes: Excellent food, friendly service, and a nice ambience. The tempura is lightly battered and perfectly fried. Gyoza has the right texture, and its filling is well-balanced. I love that the restaurant offers half a small portion of some of their dishes. It allows us to order a bigger variety for dishes for sharing. I can't wait to be back to try the other dishes.

The food was simply perfect. Among other things, we had a Tsuna Carpaccio and the fish was super fresh. All dishes were prepared and prepared with love. So you would eat them straight in Japan. No wonder because excellently trained chefs from Japan work in the kitchen. The ambience is harmonious. Bin auf Empfehlung dort hin-essen war ok, aber Preis-Leistung aus meiner Sicht zu hoch-geflammter Nigiri Lachs war gekocht, statt geflamnt-hatte keine Röstaromen, für 4.80€ stolzer Preis-kalte Edamame geht gar nicht-Service freundlich, aber überhaupt nicht aufmerksam-für mich keine Wiederholung

Very authentic Japanese food & diverse selection of sushi - top quality!

Unscheinbar von außen, eher zurückhaltend innen. Man sitzt an etwas rustikalen Tischen. Unaufgeregtes Design und genau das macht es gut, denn hier gibt es authentisches Essen und das steht im Mittelpunkt. Das Sushi ist phantastisch, vor allem die Sumi und Volcano Roll sind hervorragend. Aber auch die Vorspeisen sind top. Leider sind die Edamame nicht frisch gedämpft, sondern werden kalt serviert. Der Service ist sehr freundlich. Je nachdem wie voll es ist kann es schonmal länger dauern, bis das Essen kommt. Reservieren ist Pflicht. spontan bekommt man nur selten einen Tisch. Oder vorbestellen und abholen und zu Hause genießen.

Erstklassiges Suhsi, jederzeit wieder gerne:) Im Sommer auch kleine Terasse draussen. Für legere Abende ohne viel Tamtam aber mit super Essen:)

Went there with a party of four last night. Beyond language barrier misunderstandings from ALL staff. Got 90% of our orders wrong even by pointing directly on the items in the menu. Terrible sour and overpriced house brand saki. Never ever had saki like that. wrong orders served to us and out of sequence. English and pointing will not get you want at all there. They just nod and walk away. This Volcano Roll is just a pile of mess. An utter joke. And speaking of mess, the WC is filthy, stinky and discussing as well. Don’t say you were not warned!

Hübsches japanisches Restaurant mit gutem Sushi. Das Essen war sehr lecker, aber die Portionen waren für den Preis recht klein. Eine Reservierung am Samstagabend ist zu empfehlen. Bezahlt wird direkt an der Theke. Schön finde ich, dass im WC auch Hygieneartikel für Damen bereitstehen.

Wir sind spontan in dieses kleine,schöne Lokal gekommen und hatten ohne Reservierung Glück einen Platz zu ergattern. Reservierung empfohlen! Die Einrichtung ist schlicht aber schön, das Essen hat alle unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Haben noch nie qualitativ so hochwertig und lecker gegessen. Wir hatten bunt von der Karte bestellt und waren mehr als satt und glücklich anschließend. Wir kommen wieder.

Meiner Meinung nach stimmt hier das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht! Wir haben 90€ für 2 Personen gezahlt, das Essen war ok, satt waren wir nicht. Service hat mehrmals auf sich warten lassen. Zudem ist das Ambiente draußen wirklich nicht sehr schön.

Sehr schönes Ambiente. Alles war enorm lecker und authentisch. Vom total saftigen Karaage, bis zum Sushi, das mit frisch geriebenem Wasaabi serviert wurde. Etwas auf der preiswerteren Seite aber das ist es auf jeden Fall wert. Kann ich nur herzlichst empfehlen.

Super leckeres Sushi. Nette Location. Für das Essen lohnt es sich zu kommen.

Waren einmal vor 1/2 Jahren und gerade erst wieder da. Ist vielleicht etwas teurer als vergleichbare Sushilokale bzw. Japaner, aber hat auch einiges Ausgefalleneres und Exquisiteres anzubieten. Die Zutaten sind sehr frisch, dementsprechend schmeckt es auch. Drinnen ist es sehr laut, deswegen am besten bei gutem Wetter draußen sitzen. Die Bedienung konnte leider kein Deutsch und nur rudimentär Englisch, war aber sehr freundlich und bemüht und hat sogar auf unsere Nachfrage aus was denn z.B. eine der leckeren Soßen bestehe extra beim Koch nachgefragt.

Das Essen war wie erwartet köstlich und sehr schön angerichtet. Abgesehen von dem äußerst sympathischen jungen Mann, der uns bedient hat (er muss wohl gemischt sein), hatten einige anderen Bedienungen ein eher unfreundliches, sogar etwas genervtes Auftreten, was wir ein wenig schade fanden.

Die Speisen sind eigentlich immer gut. Die Bedienung finde ich etwas sehr zurückhaltend und es wird immer recht zügig abgeräumt… alles in allem sehr authentisch& nett.

Ich weiß nicht ob die junge Dame einen schlechten Tag hatte, aber meinen hat sie mir verderben wollen, nach 1,5 std Anfahrt musste ich feststellen, dass sie mir einen Tisch in einer enge ohne Fenster direkt neben der Eingantür reserviert hat, ich bin mir relativ sicher, dass sich an diesen Platz niemand freiwillig hinsetzen würde. Auf den Hinweis, dass ich da nicht rein passe und ob sie nicht einen anderen Tisch frei hätte, antwortete sie nicht und verdrehte, in eine andere Richtung guckend, die Augen, begleitet von einem angestrengtem ausatmen, ich beschloss sogleich das Lokal zu verlassen, zumindest das wurde ohne weitere Gesten und kommentarlos hingenommen.

Sehr, sehr leckeres Sushi. Besonders zu empfehlen sind die Vulcano und Rainbow Rolls 👌🏻 Unbedingt vorher einen Tisch reservieren. Wer einen Parkplatz benötigt, muss ein wenig suchen und dementsprechend Zeit einplanen.

Great place to try Japanese entrees. Sushi was extremely good, tempura salmon and prawns both nicely done. Great experience with service as well. Definitely recommended for late night eating in Düsseldorf.

Sehr nettes Lokal. Die Bedienung war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Speisekarte ist sehr übersichtlich. Alles war sehr schön angerichtet und geschmacklich super.

Dadurch wird es auch sehr laut im Restaurant, was eine ruhige Unterhaltung schwierig machen kann. Wenn die Einwegessstäbchen noch gegen robustere Mehrwegessstäbchen ausgetauscht werden würden, wäre alles perfekt. Nichtsdestotrotz absolut empfehlenswert, da sehr lecker 🙂

Regelmäßig bin ich im sumi zu Gast. Immer wieder hervorragend. 👌🏻 Super Qualität der Speisen - egal ob Vorspeisen wie Gyoza oder Spinatsalat mit Sesamsauce, diverses Sashimi, Sushi oder auch das gegrillte Fleisch - aber auch des Weins. Sehr schöne Atmosphäre im kleinen Lokal, Preis-Leistung absolut in Ordnung.

This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. All their dishes are delicious and visually appealing. The service is superb. The waitresses are attentive and friendly unlike other restaurants here in Germany. The ambience is cozy and warm. It doesn't feel crowded even though it is full.

Sumi ist und bleibt einer meiner absoluten Lieblingsläden in Düsseldorf. Als ich vor ca. 6 Jahren das erste Mal da war, wusste ich noch nicht, dass man Sushi auch frittieren kann - klingt gar nicht Mal so geil, aber schmeckt einfach fantastisch! Generell bin ich der Meinung, dass der Laden eher die Ausnahme der japanischen Restaurants in Düsseldorf ist und hier und da bei der Küche neue Wege geht. Service ist wie immer hervorragend. Mein absoluter Favorit: Volcano Roll (auf dem Bild zu sehen). Wer sich Mal gönnen möchte, sollte unbedingt Mal das sumi besuchen!

Fried chicken, chicken nanban, sumi roll, tekka roll and tsukune were all delicious! Among them, the beef tongue was really delicious, and it was one of the softest beef tongues you can eat in Japan. Less quantity. The price is also a little higher. But it tastes good!

Ich mag eigentlich nicht wirklich Sushi, insofern mag meine Bewertung nicht objektiv sein. Ambiente ist ganz nett, wenn es auch kein Japangefühl aufkommen lässt. Der Qualität des Service hing von der Person ab, die uns bediente. Wenn man sich nicht auskennt und Hilfe braucht wird es schwer - auch mit der Sprache. Das Essen war dann aber sehr lecker und super angerichtet. Die Fummelei mit den Stäbchen mag in jungen Jahren interessant sein, jetzt nervt es nur. Üreis Leistung ist so eine Sache. Ich finde Sushi generell total übertrieben teuer. Viel Reis, wenig Fish aber fast 30 Euro. Für Liebhaber des japanische Essens ist das Lokal dennoch sehr zu empfehlen.

Einfach nur super. Allein der Lachs im Sakeavocado Maki Sushi war einfach nur der Hammer, hab ich noch nie irgendwo so gegessen. Hatte dazu noch die sumiroll eine mit Entrecote Füllung und seperater Steaksauce dazu war auch sehr spannend und sehr lecker. Als Abschluss gab es noch einen Käsekuchen mit yuzu Sauce und einer wunderschönen Deko. 🥰 Einfach nur ein perfekter Abend und komme sehr gerne wieder wenn Mal wieder in Düsseldorf bin.❤️👏🏻
