Nice ambiance and fresh food, but unfortunately, the service ruined the good impression. One waitress was unfriendly and impatient, and an unserved salad was still charged. It's a shame, because the food would have been really good otherwise.

You can enjoy Japanese draft beer and Japanese food. They have everything from small plates like a Japanese izakaya to set meals, so it's very convenient. The restaurant is split evenly between Japanese and non-Japanese customers, and has a stylish atmosphere.

I visited the Sumi restaurant in Düsseldorf again and was not disappointed this time either. Each time, I am impressed anew by the culinary artistry and high quality that this establishment embodies. The professionalism of the entire team, the personal presence of the owner, and the stylish and intimate ambience create an experience worthy of a five-star restaurant. For guests from Düsseldorf as well as visitors from outside, Sumi is a true insider tip—a culinary treasure of this city. In my opinion, it is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Düsseldorf. An unreserved recommendation.

We had a pleasant evening. The food was fine, but not exceptional. The staff was friendly, but very rushed. The atmosphere was also okay, but nothing to write home about. Fine.

This restaurant is one of those rare places where you wonder if you can fit a little more in your stomach even though you're already full. Super, super delicious! The prices are a bit high, but in my opinion, it's good value for money.

My Japanese friend recommended this restaurant to me because it's very good and not as crowded and hyped as Little Tokyo. After my trip to Japan, I can completely understand the recommendation. Very authentic, very tasty, super friendly staff. So far, I've only been here for lunch, and I've always been able to get a seat.

The relatively expensive seaweed salad consisted of 70% ordinary lettuce with very little seaweed on top, which is a disgrace. The sushi was okay, but nothing special; I wasn't convinced by the quality.

We had a very nice experience there. The tempura shrimp were the best we've ever eaten. Unfortunately, this place doesn't accept Amex as a payment method, which we consider a major disadvantage and a reason not to visit this place again. It's a shame, because, as I said, the food is very impressive. :(

Our long time favorite sushi restaurant in Düsseldorf apparently has change the chef and/or the kitchen staff. The food quality and taste has changed over night from “delicious” to “below “average”. The sushi 🍣 are way smaller and taste stall. Our mixed tempura was missing the salmon pieces and the small corn 🌽. It’s sad to see a star falling - especially when prices are rising. Hopefully Sumi Restaurant will recover, soon. From our end we’ll give them a break for a while.

The food is good. Unfortunately, due to the multiple occupancy of the tables, it is more like a check-in. You don't feel welcome here. In addition, the food doesn't even all come to the table together. It will be difficult to spend a nice and relaxing evening there!

Today I went to this wonderful Japanese restaurant with my boyfriend. There we experienced excellent service from Ryota and were very satisfied with the delicious food. highly recommended if you are looking for a cozy place for dinner in the city center

My favorite sushi restaurant! Super friendly and attentive staff, stylish decor, and superb quality! The Vulcano Roll is especially recommended! But the classic maki and nigiri are also impressive! The appetizers are also delicious. I wish the quality remained the same and the homemade ginger ale returned to the menu. The only small downside is that it's unfortunately very difficult to find parking. But still, a clear 10/10

Very friendly team, cozy atmosphere and really good sushi. 4 out of 5 stars everywhere, but I would or will definitely come back.

Wonderfully place to eat sushi ,very fresh fish,classic rolls in short a great experience. Not a cheap place but worth the price. Only complain is the lack of a pot green thea, I only got one glass, I drink more than that. Don't let this stop you, try this place.

We always enjoy coming here, especially in summer with the outdoor terrace. An urban, funny and authentic location. Nice staff, very friendly and relaxed. The food is very good and with a few specialties something different. Highly recommended! Be sure to reserve!

You can only make a reservation by phone, so I did this a month in advance. When we arrived my name wasn't on the list, but I explained to the waitress that I had called. After quite a long wait, we were able to temporarily sit at a table and were then moved (food not yet there). As compensation, the two of us were offered a free drink (very generous). So you solved the problem well, even if communication was difficult because the waitress didn't speak German or English well. In my opinion, this shows the authenticity of the Japanese restaurant. The food was great. The tempura was warm and crispy, the salmon buttery and flavorful and the tuna nigiri - hallelujah. Great fish quality, super soft, even if the rice is a bit hard. The matcha ice cream is simply perfect in terms of taste. The atmosphere was also pleasant, although we sat at a table pushed into the corner, which offered us privacy.

We ate our way across the map. The range of sushi fluctuated from world class (nigiris) to Lidl sushi and the rice could have used a little more stickiness. The makis could have been fuller and the price was very high The starters were good, but not outstanding; the edamame, for example, could have been... B. Needed a little more garlic Service was nice, atmosphere was very good.

Fue una experiencia interesante para nosotros. Y muy sabroso y muy fresco. Recuerde reservar la mesa! Recomiendo encarecidamente Sumi. Y ten en cuenta que la cocina japonesa es mucho más rica que el sushi.

We were extremely disappointed with Sumi. When looking for an authentic Japanese, I unfortunately have to say that sumi is well below expectations and comes up significantly short when compared to nagomi, yabase or hyuga. The prices are high, the service speaks Japanese, the audience and clients are predominantly German/non-Asian. The karaage were crispy, that was delicious, would have liked it with kewpie mayo. The other chicken was too soaked. Sushi Rice was too hard. In principle I mark al dente, but here it was too grainy and too pressed and hard. Worked a lot with sauce but overall it was just ok to well. The quality of the fish was also not as high as originally expected in the pictures. Long waiting times and overpriced sushi, which we unfortunately rate with a maximum of 2 stars.

I never thought I would be able to eat fatty tuna in Germany, and it was so delicious😊 He also thought it was very delicious. This is also a restaurant that I would like to go to if I ever come to Düsseldorf 😊✨

So far the best sushi quality I have experienced in Düsseldorf. Lovingly decorated and the ambience stands out compared to other restaurants where guests are otherwise seated very closely. Here, however, it is very cozy with a pleasant atmosphere.

Particularly good sushi, excellent tempura and delicious meat dishes, homemade ginger ale and Kirin on tap in iced glasses. Reservation makes sense.

The food takes a long time to arrive and the portions are quite small. Something for in between - but the price is too high for that.

Excellent Japanese restaurant. The food is delicious, from miso soup to maki and the like. Even the ginger had a great taste.

We had a reservation at 8 o clock, but when we arrived, the waitress told us that they signed for 9. They didn't offer any alternative to correct the mistake, so we just walked away. EDIT: The owner contacted us the day after and apologised for the mistake. He also sent us a voucher and told us to give them a second chance, so we accepted it and went for dinner today. The team was super nice, we tried many dishes and have to say that the quality is very high. We love Japanese food and have tried it in many different restaurants in the city. Some dishes here are unbeatable, like the ebi tempura, the handmade gyoza and the three-dishes-starter we will take them for sure also next time. Thanks again, we loved the way you handled the situation!

For the food it tastes so so authentic , what I didn’t like is the service as each time I finish a plate they immediately take it away , i know they want us to comfort but for me i don’t like that. Besides the menu prices it’s super expensive.

Sashimi und Sushi sind mittlere Qualität! Fokus sollte auf der Qualität des Fishes und weniger in der Dekoration liegen. Bei der Spicy Tuna Roll haben wir den Tuna vermisst. Die Weinauswahl könnte besser sein. Der Service war sehr nett und aufmerksam.

From the first bite I took, i immediately knew I'd come back to this restaurant. There are many great Japanese restaurants in Düsseldorf but this one must be one of the best ones I've been. It ticks all the boxes: Excellent food, friendly service, and a nice ambience. The tempura is lightly battered and perfectly fried. Gyoza has the right texture, and its filling is well-balanced. I love that the restaurant offers half a small portion of some of their dishes. It allows us to order a bigger variety for dishes for sharing. I can't wait to be back to try the other dishes.

The food was simply perfect. Among other things, we had a Tsuna Carpaccio and the fish was super fresh. All dishes were prepared and prepared with love. So you would eat them straight in Japan. No wonder because excellently trained chefs from Japan work in the kitchen. The ambience is harmonious. Seating at the bar is reminiscent of an izakaya. 👍 The service is very attentive but not intrusive. We felt completely comfortable and will be the "sumi." visit again. Bin auf Empfehlung dort hin-essen war ok, aber Preis-Leistung aus meiner Sicht zu hoch-geflammter Nigiri Lachs war gekocht, statt geflamnt-hatte keine Röstaromen, für 4.80€ stolzer Preis-kalte Edamame geht gar nicht-Service freundlich, aber überhaupt nicht aufmerksam-für mich keine Wiederholung

Very authentic Japanese food & diverse selection of sushi - top quality!

Unscheinbar von außen, eher zurückhaltend innen. Man sitzt an etwas rustikalen Tischen. Unaufgeregtes Design und genau das macht es gut, denn hier gibt es authentisches Essen und das steht im Mittelpunkt. Das Sushi ist phantastisch, vor allem die Sumi und Volcano Roll sind hervorragend. Aber auch die Vorspeisen sind top. Leider sind die Edamame nicht frisch gedämpft, sondern werden kalt serviert. Der Service ist sehr freundlich. Je nachdem wie voll es ist kann es schonmal länger dauern, bis das Essen kommt. Reservieren ist Pflicht. spontan bekommt man nur selten einen Tisch. Oder vorbestellen und abholen und zu Hause genießen.

Erstklassiges Suhsi, jederzeit wieder gerne:) Im Sommer auch kleine Terasse draussen. Für legere Abende ohne viel Tamtam aber mit super Essen:)

Went there with a party of four last night. Beyond language barrier misunderstandings from ALL staff. Got 90% of our orders wrong even by pointing directly on the items in the menu. Terrible sour and overpriced house brand saki. Never ever had saki like that. wrong orders served to us and out of sequence. English and pointing will not get you want at all there. They just nod and walk away. This Volcano Roll is just a pile of mess. An utter joke. And speaking of mess, the WC is filthy, stinky and discussing as well. Don’t say you were not warned!
