Great rustic self-service restaurant; both the pumpkin and fish soups were delicious! Later we also had the homemade mulled wine, which was incredibly good!

Every year, eight of us stay at the Strandläufer. The owners are incredibly friendly. The food is prepared with love. Before dinner, we were treated to delicious homemade mulled wine. Child-friendliness is a top priority. We're already looking forward to next year. We wish you always lovely guests who appreciate the food and the friendliness. Most importantly, the food is always fresh and homemade.

Highly recommended. Despite being self-service, our drinks were brought to our table, perhaps because the crowds had passed by later in the evening. It's not something to be taken for granted, but I really appreciate it, and the service was also super friendly.

We visited four times during our one-week autumn vacation with friends! We were always warmly welcomed, the food was always incredibly delicious, and we were always treated to a glass of mulled wine, homemade yogurt, and a pleasant chat with the owner. We'll definitely be back next time 🙏🏻

Drove here today because the website says it's open. But guess what? The sign "Closed Wednesday" is on the door. That's 😡. They could put it online, too. 👍 We definitely won't be coming again. 🫣 Apparently, it doesn't need to open according to its online hours. 😥🤐

Hey, we were at Strandläufer today and ordered something to satisfy our hunger. We had schnitzel with fried potatoes and a hunter's schnitzel, both delicious and the portions were plentiful. The ambiance is a matter of taste, but it was clean and tidy. The service was very pleasant and friendly. We'll definitely be back. Thanks for the pleasant time. Best regards from Hanover

Very friendly and warm welcome ☺️ like every day we ordered a delicious matjes roll 🥙 so far the best taste experience within a radius of 50 km, and of course a visual highlight 😋 that's why we are happy to come back 🥰

We went there for dinner this evening. The food was good, the portions generous. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We wanted to try the restaurant today – unfortunately, we were disappointed. We ordered fried fish and a paprika schnitzel. The fried fish was quite dry, and it came with potato salad – clearly overpriced at €17.50. At other restaurants in Heiligenhafen, you can get both together for around €12.50, and the taste, portion size, and ambiance are much better. The schnitzel was okay, but a €5.00 surcharge for fries, which are also frozen, is unjustified – you can tell and taste it immediately. There's no getting around it when you know what homemade fries look like. Plus, there were quite a few fries. In total, we paid €38.50, including drinks. Combined with the rather simple ambiance and taste, the value for money was disappointing for us. One positive aspect to mention is the friendly staff member who offered us a free ouzo at the end.

We highly recommend this restaurant. The food is excellent; we had herring with fried potatoes. It's self-service, but we enjoyed the extremely friendly service and the quick preparation of the food. We'll definitely be back again on this trip.

Always delicious, always well attended

A fantastic place with friendly, welcoming staff. You can sit both inside and outside, and it's really clean and tidy. The portions are great. I like that you can choose the right side dish for every dish. I had fried fish with a side salad. €12.50 for the fried fish without a side dish is quite a lot, but it was a really huge piece. The salad was super crisp, fresh, and with a delicious dressing. The tartar sauce was homemade. The menu has something for everyone: fish, schnitzel, pinsa, etc. The prices are a bit steep for a self-service snack bar. I remember the place from the previous tenant, but the culinary delights were rather lackluster. Now I have to say, I'll be back. Thumbs up, keep up the good work, and thank you for so much warmth.

They have the best fried fish sandwiches in Heiligenhafen. Absolutely delicious. The staff is very friendly; you'll be happy to come back.

Small portions: salmon cost €15.50 and fried potatoes €7.50, or €23. The fish was barely visible and tasteless, while the fried potatoes were good. I got a stomach ache after eating them. Pizza was edible, nothing special, and also tasteless. Self-service, no waiters.

The homemade remoulade is super delicious, but the fried fish itself is extremely dry and tough – I find €12.50 just for the small, tough fried fish (without any side dish) extremely expensive. The potato pancakes were good.

Anyone craving a fish sandwich at the holiday park should head to the Strandläufer. It's truly delicious! They're happy to accommodate customer requests. However, depending on the time of day, you'll need to be patient. You place your order and receive a pager. As soon as the vibrating alarm goes off, you can pick up your food at the counter. The price of €4.80 for a good fish sandwich is fine in my opinion.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed. A portion of fries for €5 is quite expensive, and there were very few fries for that money. The meat in the burger was very bitter. Unfortunately, nothing was fresh, and everything was homemade, ready-made. It's a shame. They could have done so much better with it.

Very tasty food, I was really full. The lady was very nice. We had to wait a bit for our food, but it didn't bother us. The only point deducted was that the side dishes cost extra. €19. Drinks were OK for the price.

We received a very friendly and courteous welcome. The breakfast was very varied and lovingly prepared. A great start to the day for all of us. We were able to enjoy breakfast there again two days later. We would definitely go back.

Beautiful place, you get a friendly welcome, and the food is also excellent. Some people might be bothered by the fact that you have to get your own food. It doesn't bother us. Kemal is a very, very nice host. 😀👍 We always enjoy coming back.

So we got two cheeseburgers and a schnitzel with fries, mayo, two Fanta bottles, and a large beer for €48. The kids ate the whole burger and said it was delicious. My schnitzel was also good, I can't fault it. The owner was very friendly and in a joking mood. The kids got two shots of Fanta until their larger ones were finished. They were all wide-eyed, wondering why there was so little Fanta. 😂

Thanks to the bad weather, we were at "Schatzinsel" (Treasure Island) and wanted something to eat afterward. Google led us here, and we weren't disappointed. You sit dry, eat delicious food, and get full—what more could you want? We ordered two fried fish with fried potatoes, one potato pancake with apple sauce, and a Wiener Schnitzel with fries. We received friendly service, and despite the full house, the food didn't take long to arrive. We thought it was good.

The owner himself is in the shop almost every day, is courteous, and the products are absolutely value-for-money and always delicious! You can't even walk past them.

Friendly service. Long wait for a fish sandwich – 20 minutes, even though no one else was waiting there. The sandwich had arugula and a piece of bell pepper on it. It doesn't go well with it, in my opinion. The fried fish is frozen. I won't be back. Fortunately, everyone has different tastes.

You can get everything here. Self-service is a big deal, but the friendly waitress brought food and drinks to our table! And it was delicious, too... It's a good place to go!

Very tasty! On the first day of our vacation, we stopped by on the way to the beach for a small snack and I was amazed by the service. It's clean, the people who work there are very attentive and smiling. I recommend it with all my heart!🫶 I will add: every day we could not pass by this restaurant. Every day we tried something new. Unfortunately, several things went wrong with the upload, so this comment is very late, and I'm not sure how current it is. The Strandläufer is worth a visit in both summer and winter. The attentive service will treat you after a walk on the beach with warm welcome and freshly prepared food.

I had chicken nuggets with fries, which were delicious! The house salad with Granstapfel dressing was also super delicious at this bistro. The beachcomber is beautiful, and the service, including chef Kemal and Mrs. Walda, are all very nice. It's fantastic and highly recommended. Best, Alisia

Taste okay Service okay Atmosphere okay You order a fried fish roll (which is supposedly breaded in-house, but isn't). Plus, the piece of fried fish is smaller than a €5 bill, and charging €17 for two is downright predatory. But it still tasted good.

We went there twice. The first time we had fish sandwiches, which looked delicious. They tasted just as good. The second time we ate there, we had baked potatoes with herring, fries with nuggets, and pinsa frutti de mare. Everything was highly recommended, both in terms of taste and appearance. My wife thought the baked potatoes were a little short on quark, but when we asked, we were given another bowl of quark without hesitation, thank you very much. The price was mid-range.

The Strandläufer in Heiligenhafen is a true gem for gourmets. On our last visit, we had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious Argentinian steak and shrimp with spaghetti in tomato sauce. The steak was perfectly prepared, juicy, and full of flavor, while the shrimp were wonderfully fresh and the tomato sauce was aromatic and well-balanced. The individual daily menu is particularly noteworthy, with always surprising and great offers and something for every taste. The atmosphere at the Strandläufer is cozy and inviting, and the staff ensures that you feel completely at home. We were always served attentively and friendly, which made the visit a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Overall, the Strandläufer is a place we enjoy visiting again and again. Overpriced snack bar. No restaurant. Fries are a €5 rip-off. Fish is frozen.

We always stop there on our inland lake tour for a beer and a fish sandwich. It's always very good there.

We had a currywurst without any side dishes for €6.50 and a portion of fries for €5, which we found to be relatively expensive. Nicely and modernly presented and solid in taste, nothing extraordinary, but delicious. We also had a fried fish roll, which was advertised as being breaded in-house, which is definitely the case, but it was only a home-breaded frozen patty, we had expected more for €8.50, the homemade remoulade was very tasty, and the whole thing was served in a standard baked roll. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met here in terms of price-performance.

I ate a Jägerschnitzel and I have to say that I was very impressed. Prices are reasonable and not too expensive. Staff is very friendly. All in all 100% recommended. Make your own impression

The name should say it all here, run away with the prices. These are out of proportion, I don't even know the prices from other tourist hotspots. You shouldn't support it. Edit: Based on the owner answer, how to prove? I didn't know that you had to make a reservation at the window or show ID for to-go food.

Were welcomed with homemade mulled wine. Food was good, very surprised by the dessert, which was beautifully presented and tasted very tasty. We would be happy to come back.

This is our third time on holiday here and we always look forward to seeing the sandpipers. In my opinion, this is the best fish sandwich I've ever eaten. It is made with love and has plenty of toppings. And not as zero eight fifteen as with some other better known ones, without naming names :) we always enjoy coming here and can only recommend it to everyone 😘 the team is always super nice.

We happened to stop here while we were walking and treated ourselves to coffee and hot chocolate. And after looking at the map we decided that we would come back in the evening. We had pumpkin soup, baked potatoes and a pizza. The food was delicious. And everything homemade. What also needs to be said is that the sandpiper is a self-service restaurant with very good, friendly and chatty service. Thank you for the lovely time with you.

We found our freshly prepared fish sandwiches with pollock very tasty and visually very appealing. :) If we are in Heiligenhafen again, we will come back :)

Super nice staff. Everyone is treated like a regular guest! The food is always freshly prepared, so you are happy to accept that it will take a while. In the summer you can sit outside, but there aren't that many seats inside.

The fried fish roll was my favourite! And the fish soup was the best. I absolutely loved the food and we had beer with our meal. I can’t wait to go back there. No service, which is pretty normal for the area. You have to order food at the counter and fetch when ready.

Guys, today we went to the Greek restaurant next door after eating a stop at the Sandpiper and drank one of the best mulled wines there, homemade and very tasty

Can someone explain to me the pricing policy for a portion of French fries???? 5 euros ???? METRO 2.5 kg of fries around 4 euros for gastroware and 10 liters of frying fat 12 euros. Maybe the price of electricity??? 23 cents per kWh. Personnel costs perhaps, I estimate an hourly wage of 40 euros!!!!! I have no idea, explain it to me. The food may be good and the rent is probably high, but 5 euros for a few fries?! :-(

I'll start with the staff, they are super friendly, very attentive and not intrusive. The food is amazing, everything is freshly prepared, you wait a moment but you are happy to wait because it is fresh and tasty, the portions are completely sufficient and the price is right. Dogs are welcome at Sandpiper. Everything is clean and that is important. We can only recommend it. Barrier-free. The staff and boss are funny and a lot of fun.

Here you can get delicious fish sandwiches as a little refreshment. Otherwise there are also large dishes such as pinsa, schnitzel, etc.

Price/performance doesn't match. For scrambled eggs made from 4 eggs, 2 slices of salmon, 1 really cheap roll!!! (There were no grain rolls or anything similar) and I had to pay 20 euros for a cup of coffee. This is a rip-off even in this day and age!!!

This is a better takeaway. Prices in the higher segment. A bratwurst without bun, mustard or ketchup €6.50, baked roll €1 additional and a splash of mustard or ketchup €0.50 additional. A portion of fries €5. Not a portion to fill you up!!!

Went to dinner at the “Strandläufer” again today. As a starter, a “house salad” and a fish soup. Then a lasagne and the plaice fillet with fried potatoes. The staff is very attentive. All an absolute recommendation and a must for your next stay.

A very good self-service restaurant. The landlord and his team are super nice and attentive. There are a lot of different dishes to suit all tastes can still vary. The food is tasty, prepared and served quickly and nicely. Breakfast is also offered. It is also really cozy there and some beach chairs set up there invite you to relax. I always enjoy going there and will definitely recommend it to others.

I had several excellent fish sandwiches and also some drinks here on vacation. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. There is a great water playground right next to it, which means you can enjoy your meal and the little ones can play. Recommendation!

This is the fourth time I've been to Heiligenhafen. And the Sandpiper was my choice from day one. Very nice service and the innkeeper treats you like you've been a regular for years. The food is incredible, freshly prepared. I can also highly recommend the fish rolls. For me there is nothing else..

Rarely has it been so well managed, despite self-service!! Great staff, great location and great food! We were there for a week and every evening we were drawn to the sandpiper because of the super friendly staff!! (Even if it was just for a final drink) we are looking forward to our next vacation in Heiligenhafen and the first-class hospitality at Strandläufer!!!
