Strandhaus Restaurant in Lindau (Bodensee)

For us, it is a must to eat here at least once while we are guests at the park campsite.

We went to a BBQ on Friday and were once again very impressed. It's become a bit of a tradition for our son to come from Dinkelsbühl to Memmingen to join us for a BBQ at the Strandhaus in Lindau. This year it was Unity Day. As always, we enjoyed it very much. We find the beginning with a welcome and a relaxed introduction with some explanations very pleasant. That's how it was before Corona, and that's how we like it. I have to point out one "negative point." There's no Negroni anymore, which took my husband a long time to accept. The "tzatziki-like" :) was super delicious. Jasmin asked for the right dip :) What we absolutely loved was the BBQ cabbage. We would like the recipe for that. Keep up the good work. We'll be back, of course. Best wishes

Wow! Great food with wonderful, attentive service! Despite the cold temperatures outside, it was nicely heated inside. The beef with vegetables and the grilled vegetable platter were delicious and very plentiful. It's worth the relatively high prices. We don't treat ourselves to something like this often, but we'd love to again!

The food was good, but we were bothered by the fact that a barking dog was tolerated in the restaurant.

What a great experience! They know how to work a barbecue and the service people are just lovely. I recommend a reservation beforehand since the place seems to be quite popular among the locals.

Great ambience and delicious food

Unfortunately, we had to leave the table after 1.5 hours because it was reserved again. What a pity.

The food was excellent. The smoked meat was easy to pull off. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We've been to the Strandhaus am See many times in the past (with my wife, clients, or work colleagues). I haven't been to the location for a while, and unfortunately, the food wasn't as good as it used to be. Perhaps we just caught a bad day. In general, I found the old menu much better – it was much more varied, and you could look forward to the different meats in advance. Additionally, we had to pick up the food ourselves at the counter – this was very disconcerting at first. We paid €85 for two people, and I don't think the system with a "buzzer" on the table is very appropriate. We'll definitely try the Strandhaus again and see if we just caught a bad day.

We passed by the Strandhaus last night on our way to Lindau and, thanks to the excellent reviews, spontaneously decided to make a reservation today. Our spontaneity was rewarded; the Strandhaus absolutely deserves its ratings! Very friendly staff, truly delicious food (I've rarely had such a good veggie burger), a beautiful location, and all at a great price! We'll definitely be back.

We visited your restaurant for the first time—and certainly not the last! The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the beef ribs are simply outstanding. It would be great if you opened another restaurant in Vorarlberg (perhaps in Bregenz) 😉

I ordered the mixed platter with ribs, chicken, brisket, pulled pork, mango chutney, and fries at the Strandhaus in Lindau. Everything was fine, but unfortunately, not something I'd order again. The flavor of the platter was rather bland and uninspiring. The ribs, in particular, still had the silver skin on them, which significantly detracted from the enjoyment. The service was friendly, but even pointed out that they were understaffed – which was unfortunately noticeable. All in all, I would give it 3 out of 5 stars. You can eat here, but it probably won't be an option for my next visit to Lindau.

Go there, feel good, eat well and delicious food, and enjoy the good atmosphere and ambiance—that's how the day can end. When we return to Lake Constance, it's at the top of our list of places to go again. Thanks for the evening.

It was our first time there, and the first impression was great. We loved the tables and chairs, and the service was very friendly and pleasant. The prices are OK, but sometimes too expensive... for our liking... About the food: It's all a matter of taste, and everyone has a different one... Now, we've been to the USA many times... with BBQ food, of course... Some of our food was far from that... The coleslaw was, sorry, but really awful... The fries were so different sizes that they couldn't get crispy, and there was no salt... Totally tasteless... The ribs were fatty and lacked flavor... I think you can buy sauce to go with them... It was inedible, and I would definitely not go there again or recommend it... I'm sorry... But I don't want to waste my money on that.

When you read the boss's replies to the reviews, you hardly dare write any! I think it's a shame how they deal with criticism here and don't try to improve the feedback. When I read replies like that, it's a reason for me not to go there at all! I'll say that up front! Our men went to the BBQ buffet yesterday and unfortunately none of the three were happy. I have to say that all three are great grillers and smokers at home and really know what they're doing! The salmon was dry, the BBQ sauce tasted strange, brisket was the only thing they liked, the pulled pork was watery and the price for the buffet was really high, 45 euros per person! Even if people say you can eat as much as you want, you can't eat more than you would if you ordered normally! But yes, it was busy and as we all know, tastes differ!

We had made a reservation for dinner. We were here two years ago and were very satisfied. This year, things turned out a bit differently. We were assigned a table in the tent section and at a table with other people. We hadn't been asked about this, even when we made the reservation. The people at the table were also surprised that we were sitting with them. It's a bit awkward to eat when you're sitting at a table with strangers and you don't speak each other's language. At least we speak and hear German well, but they obviously don't speak Dutch. The menu was inspired by BBQ dishes. The food was good, but the awkwardness remained, and that didn't improve the atmosphere. The atmosphere inside is much better, and I'm not sure why we hadn't asked about that when we made the reservation, which we had made well in advance. What was also unusual was that after our order, we received a beep, and once it was ready, you could pick up your food at the counter. It felt a bit like an imbis, but with the lack of staff, I understand the choice. There was also supposed to be live music. The flyer said it would arrive at 8:30 PM. We were already there at 5:30 PM. I don't know if anyone stays that long, but it's usually over after two hours of dining. All in all, a much worse experience than back then.

We got into the beach house with a gift voucher and were delighted by the delicious food. The seating is nice, the staff is very friendly… the whole concept is fantastic. Be sure to make a reservation in advance, as they're usually fully booked, which is a very good sign.

It's changed you a lot. You have to pick up your own food. The vegetables are made from 40% canned corn. The brownie dessert was hard and cold. Service was very friendly. The menu was limited. We were last there a year ago, and everything was so much better. This is probably the last time we'll eat here. It used to be a real experience, but now it's just expensive and average. Unfortunately!

And today's barbecue buffet was worth it, too. 45 euros for such incredibly good food that you can eat as much as you want. We were really excited because of the many positive experiences, but unfortunately we were disappointed. Self-service food, high prices when you add up the whole meal. If money is no object, you might feel well looked after here, but for us, it was simply disappointing. It's a shame to have this experience on vacation 😕😕😕

I came here for the first time today by chance, and what can I say? I got the best and most amazing spare ribs with homemade sauce I've ever eaten. The staff is really relaxed and cool, so I hope I'll be back in the area soon because I definitely want to come back. A very beautiful and idyllic restaurant on Lake Constance with a beach atmosphere. It's located in front of a campsite entrance. Parking is available in front. The food was delicious, served in an open kitchen. Highly recommended! For grill fans, there's also a grilling course that you can book.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service. The two of us shared a mixed meat platter. The meat was quite good, though a bit too salty for my taste and not enough for the price (€27 without sides). The sour cream is highly recommended; it tasted excellent.

We're always looking for gluten-free food. Unfortunately, my wife isn't allowed to eat gluten for health reasons. Even the term "celiac disease" was familiar, and my wife says she felt like a normal person while eating. I didn't notice any difference in the taste of the gluten-free food. Highly recommended, in any case.

If you love barbecue, this is the place for you! Incredibly delicious food, great homemade sauces, and a consistently varied menu. The beach house is beautifully decorated; the atmosphere is just right! The service is very friendly and attentive, accommodating to all requests. Great grill, delicious food, good quality. Staff very, very friendly, but too much self-service, which is understandable in this day and age (staff shortages). The lake is nearby, but unfortunately, you're not actually at the lake, which would be great, but it's just a campsite in between. Parking is difficult.

We made a reservation for 6:00 PM, which was a good thing. I think the chef welcomed us 🤓 The food was excellent, the service... I've rarely been served so friendly and without stress, etc. 6 out of 5 stars, definitely... oh yeah, and in case anyone complains about having to pick up their own food at the counter... firstly, every course makes you slim, and secondly, there's no need for additional staff, which would make the food more expensive, as we say here... everything was good and we'd love to see you again. Super delicious as always. Unfortunately, we haven't been to the winter place in a while :-) but it's been summer. But the quality is still top, top, top. Staff very friendly and quick. We simply have to come back more often. It's worth the 75 km drive from Memmingen.

Haben nach 1 1/2 Jahren mal wieder das Strandhaus besucht, waren davor regelmäßig Gäste im Restaurant. Das Essen ist immer noch super und von toller Qualität nur enttäuscht hat uns das Ganz rund herum. Das Speisenangebot hat merklich abgenommen, man bekommt nun einen Piepser zum Selberabholen des Essens. Die guten Schorle vom Lindauer Saft gibt es leider auch nicht mehr, und als Dessert gibt es lediglich einen Schokobrownie oder eben Eis aus dem Supermarkt. Da sind wir noch was ganz anderes gewohnt, wenn man an die mega lecken und toll angerichteten Desserts von vor einigen Jahren sich zurück erinnert. Da wir gerade eben in der Gegend waren, fanden wir den Besuch im Strandhaus ok aber im Großen und Ganzen waren wir einfach enttäuscht und würden nun nicht, wie die Jahre davor, extra nach Lindau fahren um dort Essen zu gehen.

Wir haben einen schönen Abend anlässlich unseres Hochzeitstages genossen, zu dem sogar unser Tisch zur Feier des Tages etwas besonderer eingedeckt wurde. Das Essen vom Grill/Smoker hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt, die Preise empfinden wir als angemessen für die qualitativ guten, regionalen Produkte und der Service ist absolut freundlich und schnell. Ein sehr nettes Restaurant mit hervorragender Küche. Das Essen kam relativ schnell und hat sehr gut geschmeckt - Lachs aus dem Smoker. Die Atmosphäre ist entspannt, das Personal nett und freundlich und der Service ist gut. Wenn wir wieder in Lindau, werden wir definitiv hier wieder essen gehen.

We didn't have a reservation, but we were lucky that something just became available. The next people were less fortunate, so a reservation is always better. We sat directly across from the chef and were able to watch him prepare the food. That was one of the highlights of the evening. We had pulled pork, and it was simply delicious. I went for a "boys' night" with my three grown sons! The grill platter for four people we ordered, complete with side dishes and vegetables, was absolutely amazing! My favorite was definitely the spare ribs! The server was super friendly and very attentive! We'd love to come back!
