Strandbad Alberssee in Lippstadt

Very nice beach resort; the beach is clean, there are loungers and umbrellas, and pedal boats are available. The food and drinks are good, and the prices are reasonable for the location. There's plenty of parking, and the costs are completely reasonable. I'm currently in Bad Waldliesborn, and it's very easy to reach by bike from there. I'd love to come back.

That's what I thought as I stood on the shore of Lake Albers, the large body of water on the eastern edge of the city of Lippstadt, which – like so many lakes of our time – is not a work of nature alone, but a testament to human intervention and human responsibility. The lake was named after the entrepreneur Josef Albers, whose name remains linked to the original mining area. It was he who created this lake – lifted from the earth, as it were – for the industrial age. But its story doesn't end with the exploitation. In 1985, the city of Lippstadt decided to acquire the approximately 25-hectare site – a bold step that demonstrates how economics can once again become ecology. After six years of careful planning, redesign, and landscape restoration, the excavation pit was transformed into a local recreation area in 1991 – a lake with a sandy beach so vast and bright that one is almost tempted to speak of a South Sea feeling. The shores are gentle, the water inviting – and on balmy summer evenings, a hint of distance wafts across the waves, even though one is standing in the heart of Westphalia. It is a place that demonstrates what is possible when cities are more than mere functional associations – when they create spaces where people not only linger, but also breathe a sigh of relief. The Lippstadt-Ost local recreation area is such a space. And yet – despite all the enthusiasm – reality must also be considered here: On hot weekends, the idyll transforms into a haven of overcrowding. Where once peace and space reigned, heat and density stress take their place. The southern part of the lake, with its popular lido, can become an arena of urban exhaustion—a microcosm of the great restlessness we call leisure. But those seeking quiet hours—the morning mist over the water, the golden twilight, the chirping at the edge of the forest—will find them here. Perhaps not at midday in July, but certainly in late May or on a September morning when summer is already retreating a little. Alberssee is an example of how even industrial reasons can create living spaces—when courage, planning, and a love of nature come together. But it is also a reminder: leisure should be guided, not driven.

For small orders, there's an extra €0.20 for card payments. However, card payments are less work for both parties, as there's no rummaging around and counting change.

The Alberssee lido enhances the quality of life in Lippstadt. Thanks to the city of Lippstadt for this wonderful summer leisure opportunity. However, during hot weekend weather, the lake, or rather the parking lot, reaches its limits, so access sometimes has to be closed. Visitors from out of town are better off choosing a larger bathing lake on such days.

Total überteuert. Abzocke am Kunden. Afri Cola 0,33 /3,80€ Cappuccino ebenfalls zu teuer und schmeckt nicht. Und dann kommt noch dazu, dass die Stadt die Parkfläche verpachtet und mit teuren Parktickets belegt. Bäh…

Great atmosphere by the lake with snacks

We really enjoyed it there. We were at the campsite across the street, which was also great, by the way. The lake had beautiful clear water, a sandy beach, pedal boat rentals, SUP rentals, and good food.

Mega good swimming lake, good water quality, great beaches

Whenever possible, I go to the lido several times a week. Everything is really good. The restrooms, in particular, which are crucial for me, are always very clean, and the two older ladies are really nice and always very polite. I enjoy chatting with them. I really can't say anything negative about the restrooms. Keep it up. And stay healthy so the restrooms stay clean. 😃

The toilet attendant is an absolute disaster. The money-making scheme in the parking lot is just as bad. That should be addressed. I'll forgo relaxing after-work drinks here in the future.

Beautiful beach with a nice, large lake. You do have to be a bit patient for food, but you can also self-cater and just pack a little. Always happy to come back.

I really enjoy going to this lake, but one thing bothers me every time – and that's the women in front of the restroom. Yes, it says "50 cents," but that's not a mandatory fee – especially not when it comes to a basic human need like using the toilet. Nevertheless, you're denied access if you don't have change on you. And that's simply not right. I've witnessed several times how people have to argue just to be allowed to use the restroom – it's just sad. Even worse: For the amount of money they charge per person, you'd expect at least clean restrooms – but that's not the case here at all. It's really unhygienic in places, and I don't even want to get started on decent toilet paper. If you're going to charge, at least the standard should be up to scratch. The way things are going now is just annoying, outrageous, and completely out of date.

A beautiful lake with a holiday atmosphere. We love coming here. Unfortunately, every year we have a new negative experience with the elderly ladies in front of the restroom. Although I regularly use the restaurant, which by law should give me access to the restroom, I am repeatedly asked to pay in a very rude, almost bossy manner. And not with a smile, but in a condescending manner. I am happy to pay for clean restrooms and friendly service, but neither is provided here. On top of that, you don't always have cash on you these days. Anyone who doesn't meet this requirement is literally humiliated by these two. Unfortunately, I have also often observed people being refused access to the restroom if they cannot pay. Even women who are obviously pregnant! This is no longer about money, but about dignity and humanity, which these two completely lack.

A nice day trip destination in the surrounding area. Ideal for children.

You can relax there very well, I sometimes feel sorry for the snack bar employees when the weather is very warm, it's a hard job, but still friendly and the toilets are always very clean, the two ladies do a great job 😃 so it's worth going there and where else can you get it without an entrance fee, the parking fee is OK too!!

Food was okay overall, the fries were good and more than you would have expected for the money but that doesn't mean they were cheap

The Alberssee lido is an absolute insider tip! The atmosphere here is relaxed and perfect for a relaxing day by the water. The lake is clean and ideal for swimming, and there is enough space on the lawns to enjoy the sun. I particularly liked the well-kept facility and the friendly staff. Also ideal for families as there are playgrounds and shallow water areas. The kiosk offers delicious snacks and drinks at fair prices. All in all, a wonderful place to leave everyday life behind. Always happy – clear 5 stars!

It's a really beautiful lake. The snack bar has great things, but it's self-service, which isn't a bad thing. The people at the kiosk are fun to serve and it's really quick.

The lake itself is very beautiful. An e-bike charging station would be nice. I've been there twice now for a bike ride. I was served twice at the snack bar by the gentleman with the painted eyes. Twice was dismissive and very decisive, it makes you feel unwanted. It's a shame actually. Food is a little more expensive, but since you can go to the lake for free, that's bearable.

Beautiful and clean lake with good snacks. At the lake itself there are only parking fees of €4 per vehicle; entry itself is free. The snack is really great. Manta plate cost €7.79, but it was really tasty.

The Alberssee is large and has a large sandy beach and large meadows. Here you can swim and pedal boats. There is also a snack bar with lots of seating options. There is a very nice atmosphere here, especially in the evening. You can sit here and relax with a glass of cocktail, even without going swimming.

There used to be loungers and umbrellas. There isn't even enough sand today... Sad... In the snack bar behind the counter.... How should I put this in a politically correct way.... Average age is around 70 years. There was a young girl there, but she was completely lost, completely confused and slower than a snail... It's VERY unfortunate. Sad.......

The terrace restaurant is very nice and even has a bit of holiday flair. It's best to always come after 5 or 6 p.m. because the parking lot at €4 is a disaster.

Hello, I used to go to Lake Albert very often. Been here again for the first time in 25 years. It was super nice. I can only recommend it. For anyone who is interested, I won't reveal much, just that it's worth it. So that you can also discover something 😉

It was just a fast food place but it is very tasty and the ambience is right. Nice. Of course it will be very crowded there in the summer, we will go there again

Bottles of drink have expired and have mildew (mold) on the label. When asked, this was signposted somewhere in the restaurant (not at the serving point and clearly marked) which would justify the low price of €2.50. No exchange was offered. When we asked what the restaurant was called, they didn't even give us a name. Apparently out of fear. Seems very dubious and not very customer oriented. Regarding the beach section, you can say that dog poop or duck poop was more common on the water section. No longer what the Alberssee once was.

The service is a complete disaster. May 26th, one person serves 46 waiting customers at a snail's pace, which would therefore have to be paid with 3 euros. I long for times before Corona... different owner, top service.

Very beautiful lake that invites you to relax or do sports. Gastronomy in a really great location right on the lake with a great view. I can't contribute anything to the food because I only drank a non-alcoholic shandy. If I lived nearby I would be here more often. Parking spaces are available and cost 4 euros.

A very relaxed place to eat and drink. You can go here in a casual outfit. The staff is friendly and relaxed. You have to order the food at the counter and pick it up.

Ein wunderschöner See wo man vieles machen kann. Auch für das Leibliche Wohl wird gesorgt. Es gibt Pommes und Chicken und vieles mehr zum Essen. Auch zum Kaffee gibt es leckere Waffeln. Schön für ein Tagesausflug

Abends auf nen Weizen am See dagewesen. Nach ner Radtour ein schöner Abschluss.

Der Strand ist richtig toll, schöner Sand, Urlaubsfeeling, auch bei kälterem Wetter. Alles sauber und große Tretboote. Wir haben leider nichts dort gegessen, deshalb kann ich auch über das Essen nichts sagen.

Es ist immer wieder schön ,dort zu sein. Was ich seit neustem leider bemängeln muss, ist der Preis für die 2 Liegen mit Schirm. Es war nicht möglich, nur eine Liege zu bezahlen. Es kann nur komplett gebucht werden. Was macht man als Einzelperson ,oder wenn man zu dritt anreist? Das war in vergangenen Jahren anders gehandhabt worden. Alle Komponenten konnte man einzeln bezahlen, so wie man es brauchte. Es wäre vielleicht nochmal zu überdenken, ob das so sinnvoll ist.

Milchshakes sind geschmacklich ein Desaster und kosten ca 4-5 Euro. Vorbestelltes Rührei wurde , ich weiss nicht wenn keine Eier da sind, irgendwie zusammengebraten. So sahen sie auch aus. Ich hab für vieles Verständnis, wenn aber Produkte fehlen und dadurch die Qualität leidet, ist das ein logistisches Problem. Weitere Ausführung erspare ich mir. Positiv ist der Frühstück-Sahnejoguhrt mit Früchten. Sehr lecker und mächtig. Ich hoffe es hilft den Betreiber seine Qualität zu steigern durch ein klares offenes Feedback das jeder lesen kann. Dienen kommt vor dem Verdienen.

Zum Schwimmen da gewesen - sehr gut. Andrang am Bistro war groß-also scheinbar gut. Portionen erscheinen auch üppig

Ein Super See mit schönen Ambiente. Wir kommen oft dort hin , das mit den Parkgebühren ist völlig ok . Was mir immer wieder auffällt ist das die Gäste immer wieder Kronkorken und kippen im Sand stecken , dieses finde ich sehr gefährlich. Vielleicht mal ein Schild hin machen mit SAUBER HALTEN hin stellen .Wünsche dem Team noch einen schönen Sommer ..

Coole Leute…. Am besten ist, man kann weit raus schwimmen ohne das ein blödes Gepfeife einsetzt…. Still und ruhig kann man seine Schwimmzüge weitläufig genießen. Dann verschwindet auch das Gequatsche am Strand. Man hat die Wahl zwischen Rasen unter Bäumen und Sand in der Sonne…,

Für einen Kiosk mit Selbstbedienung ist es nicht gerade günstig, Dafür sah das Essen ganz gut aus, konnten wir allerdings aus Zeitmangel nicht probieren, aber beim nächsten Besuch auf jeden Fall

Man kann da super sitzen, bei schönem Wetter. Kinder können unweit im Sand spielen oder schwimmen. Toilette ist da.

Ein toller Ausblick auf dem See. Es kostet allerdings vier Euro Parkgebühr auch wenn man nur etwas isst und trinkt.

mittlerweile nicht mehr supergünstig, aber für die Lage völlig ok. Service und Personal ist erstklassig. Auch bei top Wetter und hoher Frequentierung guter Kaffee und gutes Essen.

Schöner Badestrand mit Gastronomie.

Leider waren wir von der Gastronomie sehr enttäuscht. Es gibt nicht viele Orte in Lippstadt, an denen man am Wasser sitzen kann, weswegen es schade ist, dass dieser Ort nicht maximal genutzt wird. Ich empfehle den Pächtern mal bei Gelegenheit einen Besuch am Tuttenbrocksee. Sicherlich bietet diese Gastronomie sehr viel mehr Platz, aber vielleicht kann man sich hier trotzdem mal inspirieren lassen Für einen Tiefkühl Flammkuchen oder einer überteuerte Mantaplatte würde ich hier nicht nochmal hinfahren. Das Personal wirkte total überfordert. Als wir das Signal bekamen, dass das Essen fertig ist und man an der Essensausgabe ankam, war das Essen bei Zweien von uns leider schon kalt und das Personal wusste gar nicht, welches Essen zu welchem Pieper gehört. Wir hatten zum Beispiel eine große Portion Pommes bestellt und der Herr wollte uns eine Kleine geben und behauptete auch noch, dass das die große Portion sei, als wir nachfragten. Erst als andere Gäste neben uns dasselbe ansprachen, gab er die richtigen Portionen raus. Was soll das? Wie wäre es mit etwas Musik? Einer schöneren Bestuhlung? Mehr Kreativität bei der Getränke-Karte? Einen Flammkuchen oder eine Pizza kann ich mir auch Zuhause in den Ofen schieben. Es wirkt irgendwie alles sehr lieblos und leider nicht viel besser als eine Pommesbude..

Nach dem Pächer oder Eigentümerwechsel haben wir gestern das erste Mal in diesem Jahr das Strandbad am Alberssee wieder besucht. Das Glas Wein war deutlich teurer als die ganze Flasche im Einkauf (oder bei der Qualität viel zu teuer eingekauft) und kostete soviel wie ein gutes Glas in einem Restaurant. Für 5,50 € bekamen wir eine Bratwurst mit Senf, eine Scheibe Toastbrot und eine mäßig gefüllte Schale Pommes mit Mayonnaise im Self Service. Das möge jeder selbst für sich bewerten. Kritik an der Preisgestaltung auf anderen Portalen wird mit der Erhöhung des Mindestlohnes um 0,35 €/h und einer Lohnerhöhung im öffentlichen Dienst um 8% verteidigt. Hier passen Leistung und Preis garnicht zueinander. Obwohl gestern gutes Wetter war leerten sich die Reihen doch recht schnell. Offensichtlich war ich mit meiner Meinung nicht alleine. Schade das dieser schöne Ort jetzt verwaisen wird.
