STEG 32 - Restaurant & Lounge in Herrsching a.Ammersee

A very delicious restaurant with a fantastic lakeside location. Prices are on the high side, but if you want to spend a special evening, it's definitely worth it. We've enjoyed coming here for years. Unfortunately, service is a bit slow at the moment due to staff changes. But that will surely improve over time.

Excellent food, a bit pricey, but the quality is good. Very good service. Highly recommended.

We were lucky enough to be able to celebrate our civil wedding at Steg32 and had a truly fantastic day! From the wonderful champagne reception right on the lake with exceptional drinks, to the exquisite food (highlights: beef tartare, pistachio risotto, and char with sweet potato), to the very attentive service, everything was just perfect. We felt very well looked after and were able to enjoy the day to the fullest 🫶🏼 Insider tip: a few meters down the promenade, you can rent rowboats, a great way to overcome your food coma 😊🙆🏼‍♂️

The Wiener Schnitzel was delicious. However, the service was very stressed. The restaurant was completely booked. Reservations are definitely recommended. Finding a parking space, however, is a matter of pure luck. The most annoying thing, however, was the fact that the card reader didn't work on the outdoor terrace. The process had to be repeated four times. An absolute no-go.

We were there for breakfast. The terrace was lovely, overlooking the lake. €32 for a mediocre, standard hotel breakfast is simply too much.

We ate at Steg32 for the first time today and were absolutely thrilled with the fantastic location, the super friendly staff, and the delicious food. The pistachio risotto was very special, and the veal steak was very tender. We're really looking forward to our wedding at Steg32 in three weeks!

One of our favorite lakeside restaurants!

The service was very attentive, but there were a few hiccups here and there. The order was mixed up, for example, but it was quickly rectified. The aperitif arrived after the starter. Oh well. The food was, as always, very tasty and of high quality. The wines were also excellent. The view from the terrace is special.

We've given this restaurant a higher rating before. Back then, however, the price-to-quality ratio was appropriate. With a new service crew and a new kitchen, it seems like a lot of things aren't working together yet. Furthermore, the food prices are too high for the quality. We won't be back until the prices and drink selection (aperitifs like Prosecco and Crémant were missing) have reached a reasonable level.

I've never seen so many dogs, from small to giant, with so much dog hair on the lounge chairs as on your beautiful terrace, and hotel guests lounging on the chairs with bare feet. It was quite disgusting and unappetizing to enjoy your commendably good cake and coffee next door at 4:00 p.m. on August 6, 2025. What a shame.

We celebrated a wedding there. The food was incredibly delicious and the staff was super friendly. Andy, in particular, was so nice to work with. You could tell he loves his job.

This restaurant has truly missed people like Marina. Sorry if I misspelled the name. The service is always of the highest standard – you can immediately tell that Marina speaks from the heart to her guests. It's absolutely no problem for me to tip €30 when I feel like I'm not just a customer, but a guest who is being given time and attention. You're not being pushed into old, slow-selling items – I feel like I'm among good friends here.

Higher prices and food with minor flaws. The menu is creative and varied. The flavors are excellent. I'm always surprised when no one asks how well cooked a piece of meat (roast beef and veal steak) should be. Both came medium and were very good. Fresh vegetables should also be used for more demanding dishes (the chanterelles were pickled and the green beans were frozen). The Niçoise salad unfortunately came without egg. The beef tartare and bouillabaisse are highly recommended.

I return to this restaurant from time to time, and I have to say, I've had much better experiences. I was tempted to give it only three stars, but that would be too general. The service was generally okay. The summer salad for starters was a completely unimaginative little mixed (side) salad. My risotto tasted okay. But we couldn't bring ourselves to have dessert, even though we would have had room after the rather modest portions of the previous courses. The restaurant still has room to improve to reach its previous level.

All in all, it was a disappointing experience for us. Let's start with the positive. Service and communication. This is top-notch. From the reservation request by phone to the reception and service during the meal, everything was excellent. The staff are super friendly, professional, and engaging. It was a pleasure. Location: The location and interior are, of course, sensational. Food: We were a bit shocked here. We had reserved a table for 8:00 p.m. by phone. When we ordered at 8:10 p.m., the waiter informed us that he would like to bring the starter and main course together, as the kitchen closes at 8:30 p.m. That really surprised us. On a Friday in the season, the kitchen closes at this rather early hour in Herrsching (?). I can understand if the reason could be a staff shortage. That's fine, too. What's a no-go, however, is that at 8:30 p.m., the staff were already clattering away the unused tables in the dining room. We felt like we had to finish our food quickly so that the evening could be called a night. I think that's inappropriate for a restaurant of this standard. We would have liked to have at least been informed when we made our reservation for 8:00 p.m. that the kitchen closes at 8:30 p.m. Then I could have decided in advance whether to arrive earlier or reschedule our meal for another day. If I'm spending around €120 here for two people, I honestly expect a relaxed dinner. As for the food itself, unfortunately, it wasn't anything special that evening. My Wiener schnitzel (small portion for €27) was really small, the meat wasn't tender, and the breading was greasy rather than fluffy. The two stars are for the smiling, super-friendly, young staff and the location.

A convenient and beautiful spot on the lakeshore, where you can get something to eat and drink, and the harbor is nearby. We took a boat trip from here, which was also cool.

Best location, very comfortable, upscale

The location is unique, and the lounge is a must-visit, especially at sunset. Presumably, there was a change of tenant, because the lounge's menu has been drastically reduced – there's currywurst (nicely served) and truffle fries (but they're just fries), as well as a variety of tarte flambée and sausage/cheese. Last year's excellent dishes (bouillabaisse, Caesar salad, vitello tonnato, steak tartare, etc.) have all been discontinued. The prices of the Spritz variations (sundowners) have risen significantly to €12.50 each – only €9 in 2024. Cocktails are no longer available.

The ambiance was lovely, the food was delicious, but the service was unfortunately disastrous. It all started with the aperitif, with drinks being mixed up at the table: alcoholic cocktails were mixed up with non-alcoholic ones (unfortunately, a breastfeeding mother was also affected!)! The wrong main course was served, meaning the remaining three people at the table had to wait for the fourth dish to arrive. The dressing was forgotten for a salad. Empty glasses and bottles weren't cleared away the entire evening – but dessert was cleared away even though everyone hadn't finished it. To top it all off, the waiter rolled their eyes when they pointed out the wrong/missing food and asked about allergens in the food. Originally, one person in the group wanted to choose the location for their wedding – but based on their experience, that's no longer the case!

Disastrous service, cold food, and we even had to wait so long for the bill that we ended up going in ourselves to pay. Even a personal conversation with the manager was disappointing.

What wasted potential. This terrace could be a real highlight – the location is good, the view acceptable, and the ambiance promises a lot at first glance. But then the first encounter with the service comes, and everything turns sour. The waiters seem overwhelmed, haphazard, and simply untrained. You get the feeling you're sitting in a temporary station for summer interns rather than in a professionally run business. Orders take forever, are forgotten, or brought incorrectly – and all without any sense of hospitality. The drinks? A tragedy. Watery cocktails without any refinement, carelessly served, tasting somewhere between "so-so" and "please don't order again." A disgrace for the prices. Overall, the only feeling left is that much more could be achieved here – if someone would make a serious effort. But as things are currently going, this terrace is unfortunately just a missed opportunity with a beautiful view.

Great spot but what terrible service. The waiter who self proclaimed he was the manager (waiter number from receipt = 3576) was so rude, over charged us and then denied by trying to cover up his errors. His body language was threatening to us when we questioned his mistakes. I hope his superior reads this and sends him on a customer training course.

The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was simply perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant! The great selection of dishes and the friendly service are particularly noteworthy. We'll be happy to come back!

The pistachio risotto for €30 tasted good, but was more like an appetizer. Unfortunately, it wasn't filling. When I pointed out that the portion was very small, the staff didn't respond with a discount or a small gesture like a free espresso. Overall, it was disappointing – the value for money was just as poor as the service.

The trip there was a Father's/Mother's Day gift for our parents. The ambiance is beautiful, and the view of the lake is fantastic, even on cloudy days. Unfortunately, our server wasn't the most attentive. No matter what was running out—water, beer, or wine—she didn't even bother to ask if we wanted or needed anything else, or if everything was okay. I'll add that the restaurant wasn't full, and she had some help. The fabulous food helped to alleviate some of that unpleasantness. After we paid, there was a change of service, and then a sharp and attentive young man came over and asked if everything was okay and if we needed anything else (that's how it should have been before). We thanked him and said we'd already paid and were leaving. Well, that's how it goes. Thanks to this performance, Steg 32 gets another chance to serve very good food, and with outstanding service. Amazing location, amazing food, amazing prices 😁 There were six of us there, and we got a good overview of the menu – everything was delicious, homemade, and lovingly presented. The location is also very nice, right on the lake, with plenty of outdoor seating. A bit pricey, but worth it.

We have been customers of Steg32 for many years. Unfortunately, we have to recognize a significant decline in quality and, above all, service from year to year. We were there on April 12th. during a sunny "pre-season phase" again in our local restaurant on Ammersee. The well-known male service staff were present. The question about an ashtray took 3 attempts until it was cleaned from the neighboring table and brought to our table. It took 2 people to order the food (male permanent staff, and 1x temporary help (always trying) Then, after a long wait, the food from the neighboring table was served. Bad to no go: After the error was discovered, the food that had already been opened was removed and served to the neighboring table. (WKD?) While the expensive but manageable meal was being eaten, the male server helped himself to the cutlery and glasses on our table for four without being asked and set the table for the neighbor. The question of a little more shade from the pergola/awning was answered flippantly. (Could almost have been a Viennese) In summary: Food: Taste and quality: 1A Price-performance: From year to year: quantity decreases Service: Regular staff: Inattentive, rude, snooty Service: Temporary help: Friendly, tried very hard, but unfortunately unsuccessful. Our conclusion: After so many years at Steg32, it is time for an alternative, better gastronomy. It's a shame...but pride comes before a fall.

Very fine and upscale restaurant. The service is accordingly courteous. The food is very selected and fine in detail. If you have a window seat, you get a wonderful view over the lake, with a fantastic sunset in the evening.

Steg 32 is a very pleasant restaurant with a very nice outdoor area to enjoy a cocktail by the lake. Highly recommended. Service is also nice and quite quick. However, parking can be quite complicated on weekends

Not very friendly to Chinese people

We were at Steg 32 for a family celebration. Although something went wrong with the menus, they responded quickly and apologized several times. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was also very delicious, especially the steak tartare as a starter. The only downside was the rump steak, which was unfortunately quite tough. However, the dessert was a great addition.

I came today with my boyfriend for an early dinner. The food was very good and the service is something that stood out to us! We felt very well looked after! The setting was also amazing, with great views of the lake. Due to the amazing service, we guarantee that we will be back! The manager is definitely handling things correctly, because it is rare to find great service nowadays.

We had breakfast there, and the quality of the food was generally decent. However, considering the price, there were a few negative points. Breakfast is served until 11 a.m. We were there shortly after 9:30 a.m., and the buffet was half empty. Okay, hotel guests probably eat breakfast more often, but if I'm offering breakfast to outsiders until 11 a.m. for €32 per person, I expect a full selection even at 9:30 a.m. The limited selection that was available was, as I said, of good quality, but nothing special or outstanding enough to justify the price. We probably won't go there again.

Professional courteous service 3 course enjoyment menu excellent I haven't eaten such tender rump steak in a long time. Prices more for the discerning audience.

Very nice hotel, well maintained right on the beach, service is great, the lounge is also very nice, at the reception, the ladies are very friendly, but unfortunately everything is very overpriced!!

We were guests at lunchtime. The food is excellent and well worth the high price. Unfortunately, the performance of the service staff does not match the price point and the quality of the food. With one exception, unfortunately inattentive and unprofessional. Unfortunately the picture is not round. Please work on this point, then it is definitely worth a second visit for us as locals.

We were pampered in a very rare way by extremely loving and friendly service. Our wishes were fulfilled unobtrusively and attentively at all times. The ambience by the lake and the discreetly presented music at Café del Mare left nothing open except to enjoy even more of the fine cocktails and the excellent food. In my opinion one of the most beautiful and best restaurants in Herrsching. The location right on the lake with the terrace is beautiful. The food is regional and very good. Portion size is for good hunger. Price performance is therefore very good. We'll definitely be back. The drinks deserve special mention, they are creative and also excellent.

NEVER AGAIN Ammersee Hotel or Steg32! For our wedding we received a voucher for the Ammersee Hotel and Restaurant Steg32 worth €500 from our family. The issue date was October 2018. Due to the pandemic and our family situation, we were unable to redeem the voucher in a timely manner. It was our own fault that we overlooked that the voucher is valid for 3 years. We only noticed this when we dug out the voucher to redeem it. We called the Ammersee Hotel or Steg32 to find out what we could do now and described our family situation, as well as the obstacle caused by Corona, and we were told that the voucher's deadline had long since expired and we could no longer redeem it could. We asked for the director's contact details and contacted her via email with our concerns. The manager of the hotel also informed us in writing that a voucher was valid for 3 years. In general, the hotel/restaurant is very generous, but a 5-year-old voucher would no longer be redeemable. It was argued that Corona was the last closure in 2021 and that Corona had no longer been relevant for restrictions or other impairments since the beginning of 2022 at the latest. Accommodation would not be possible. We should have contacted you by telephone within the deadline or at least within a "reasonable time window", then an extension or transfer would have been possible if necessary. The “appropriate time window” is probably a very subjective time indication. Our question as to what disadvantage or damage the hotel would suffer if the voucher was redeemed late was not answered. We cannot understand why exactly a call asking for an extension would have changed anything, as it is just a bureaucratic act that does not change the fact that €500 was paid to the hotel. The hotel/restaurant took the money and did not provide any service in return. Our comment that we were open to writing a review was taken as a threat by the director. She would now have the buck without having made a mistake. In our opinion, the disadvantage lies more with those who paid €500 without receiving any benefit. We find this lack of goodwill and accommodation for such a large sum more than questionable and quite shocking! Unfortunately, the €500 was not a wedding present for us, but rather a gift for the Ammersee Hotel/Steg32. Really sad! (If there are any doubts about the accuracy of the statement of facts, this can be easily verified through the email conversation.)

Very nice and upscale restaurant. The food is really high quality and good. No homeopathic doses either, just decent portions. A little more expensive but absolutely okay for the quality.

The best place in Herrsching am Ammersee!!!

Please invest in People! Lot of money was invested in deco and the place looks really great, but service is appauling. 2h for only one dish despite arrival at 6pm on a monday. Place was busy, one server was running everywhere, another one was barely doing something (placing people on table and chatting), an another one was basically standing and waiting (despite plenty to do) while chewing his gum (what is an awful behavior). Two other server were around not giving any help... Kitchen was also understaffed. So very decieving experience despite good food... Never again.

Just wow! We love the food and the service was an absolute dream. Very warm and attentive, which is unfortunately very rare these days. We were on holiday in Herrsching for a week and we spent almost every evening at Steg32. We will definitely book the Ammersee Hotel again on our next Ammersee vacation. The sunset is indescribably beautiful. With us you have gained new regular guests.
