The food is very good; we come regularly for "Ribs Satt." Unfortunately, they take quite a while to refill the ribs, perhaps waiting until you're full 😡 I recommend ordering a new round immediately after receiving your order; it takes longer anyway... It shouldn't be that bad, the ribs are already ready anyway. It's an unpleasant practice, but the service is otherwise excellent.

A lovely, long-established restaurant with consistently excellent food quality. Parking is difficult in Kiel, as in every major German city, but here there's a parking garage just a few meters away, where there are almost always spaces available. Back to the restaurant: The rustic ambiance invites you to linger—in fact, you just want to sit and chat. I only gave the service four stars because it took about 10 minutes to get the menu, and then another 10 minutes to take our order. Maybe it was just too busy, lunchtime. Everything else was professional and friendly. We'll definitely be back.

During our vacation we went to the Steakhouse Essen twice. The quality of the food was very good ---- highly recommended. The staff was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Ambiance, there is a nice place to be found for everyone. We will definitely be guests there again next year.

We were planning on going somewhere else, but then we spontaneously walked into this place. The food and service were great, thank you very much.

It started with the staff. They are very unfriendly, especially the woman with glasses and dark hair. The food is a disaster. Once the rump steak and the flank steak weren't medium, they were already well done, but that wasn't the worst. A couple of hours later I had stomach cramps and felt sick. Apparently the meat had been refrigerated incorrectly. My girlfriend isn't well at all. She has a sensitive stomach and is now in hospital in Neumünster. This will be reported. This kind of thing shouldn't happen.

The staff is super friendly and very flexible, and they make (almost) anything possible for their guests. We felt very comfortable, and the food was amazing. If we're ever in Kiel again, we'll definitely eat here 😊.

So, the food was "in itself" quite okay, but for the taste and service you get there, it was waaaaaar too expensive. I ordered a medium ribeye, and what came out was a ribeye that was almost on the edge of a shoe sole, plus the fried potatoes that came with it were more like potatoes that had been on the sunbed too long and were dripping in fat or oil. My companion then wanted to pack her food and take it with her, as she was already full. She then expected us to pack the ordered food into a cardboard box with a fork. As guests, we felt like we were helping out ourselves, and we had to pay €67 for something like that. With all due respect, there was practically nothing going on in the place; you'd expect more effort in the kitchen and better service. Definitely not a recommendation; there are much better and more affordable places in Kiel than the Schuppen.

We were there on a Monday with seven people! Three men had spare ribs and loved them (only available on Mondays or Wednesdays)! The others had fillet steak or flank steak and were also delighted! The service was very friendly! Overall, very good! ☺️

Very nice ambiance, very friendly and competent staff. First, we had tapas. Then we had three steaks of varying degrees of doneness. All were excellent. The value for money was as expected for a steakhouse. All in all, a successful evening. And that's how it should be. Update June 16, 2025. We had a very delicious lunch today (fish or beef strips), the service was very attentive, and we felt completely at home.

We had a very nice evening here, everything went well. Unfortunately, with a heavy heart I have to deduct a point from the meal because I ordered my sirloin steak medium and unfortunately it didn't arrive. The waiter wanted to bring me a new one, which was very nice, but I declined so that the animal wouldn't die in vain. 2x lunch to pick up. Asparagus/potato/ham/starter soup. It was pre-ordered by phone. A pickup in 15 minutes was agreed. Picked up food after 12 minutes. For a small (max. 180g) additional grilled turkey steak, an additional charge of €9 was charged. I think it's peppery with a lunch price per dish of €14.50. The food was on the plate at home a maximum of 5 minutes later, if at all (I live opposite). Unfortunately, the asparagus was cold and mushy and the potato (whole potato with peel) was only lukewarm inside. If I had received the food at the table on the spot, it would have been returned immediately. Very unfortunate. The starter soup (champion) was no longer quite hot, but still within reasonable limits and tasted excellent.

The food was delicious, but given the price we expected much more from the ambience and service. The shop was completely empty, there were 3 service staff there, but we were neither asked for a second drink nor for a dessert. We then had to go to the front to pay because no one came to us for that either. Really a shame.

We ate at the steakhouse on Friday evening. The ambiance in the old building was showing its age. The food consisted mostly of convenience foods. Mushrooms from a can, bread from a package, not from the bakery, and the salad dressing was also a ready-made sauce. With the senior citizens' plate, you had to search for the meat on the plate. When we asked the waitress, they smiled and replied, "We've heard that several times." So, there's no way to combine service with good food. Not to mention the prices....

We recently visited this restaurant and were disappointed with the food. Unfortunately, the burgers we ordered didn't impress us in terms of taste. Both patties were very salty and the meat was tough, dry and seemed rather processed and made from sausage meat... and it also tasted strongly of liver. I suspect that the patties are made from all the leftover meat and (so that it won't be noticeable) made into sausage meat instead of minced meat. The taste was also definitely reminiscent of industrial instead of fresh, homemade burgers. That was a real shame. When the waitress asked me whether it was tasty while clearing it, I replied immediately but in a friendly manner that it wasn't. Unfortunately, her reaction to this was disappointing - she left without a word with the cleared plate, without any interest or asking what the problem was. Of course I understand that the waitress can't do anything about the food from the kitchen, but why ask if you're not interested in the answer? I don't recommend burgers! At least there is a plus point for the fact that the food came out of the kitchen quickly.

On April 14, 2025, I experienced what it was like to eat in this restaurant for the first and last time. As soon as you walked in, the atmosphere was disappointing - the staff were extremely unfriendly and seemed to have little interest in the guests. The wait for food was far too long, which made the entire evening even more unpleasant. What particularly bothered me was the behavior of the staff. After collecting customers, they immediately grabbed the top of the cutlery and served it to us. In my opinion, that's not possible at all, especially in times when hygiene plays such an important role. But that wasn't all: the chef blew his nose with Zewa, and then, without disinfecting or washing his hands, he simply reached into the salad. Something like that is simply unimaginable and absolutely unhygienic! Unfortunately the steak was also a failure. It was tough, so I chewed on one piece for minutes without being able to eat it properly. The price was way too high for the quality of the food - it definitely wasn't worth it. All in all a very disappointing experience. I definitely won't eat here again.

We've been here several times now and I have to say, I've never had such a bad experience. You basically have to be lucky to get the cooking level that was ordered. Of course we let you know that our medium steak was well done and not medium. Then all you could hear was complaining in the open kitchen (it was the waiter). When he was asked whether he had to be so loud, all he said was "you should order something else if you have no idea". He continued to mess around in the open kitchen. At least there was a nice young waitress there who apologized for his behavior. If you want to rely on good food, I don't recommend this restaurant.

A very nice restaurant. From the entrance to the left I found it to be an “old part” to the right as more modern. We didn't have a reservation, but we were lucky and got a table straight away. We were seated opposite the open kitchen. Since I come from the catering industry, I know the rather rough tone in a kitchen. I have rarely experienced such a harmonious, calm kitchen crew 👍🏽 The service, very attentive, friendly, simply pleasant. It was my first time using a Flank Iron and I can only recommend it to everyone. Super juicy, super tender and strong in taste. Sorry but we'll be back.

We've been going there when we're craving steak for 25 years. The steak is very good, as is the salad and bread. The long-standing service staff in the old part of the restaurant are very attentive and friendly. The last few times we were seated in the new part of the restaurant. The young service staff who served us there were a disgrace. If you don't feel like doing this job, you should do another job. The tone is mushy and unfriendly. A visit to a restaurant in the evening is no fun, despite the delicious steak.

I really like this steakhouse. The menu offers an excellent selection of very good steak cuts and good side dishes. The flank steak is excellent. The service team is very attentive and will find a solution even when the house is full if you want to eat there without having reserved a table. I strongly recommend this steakhouse.

Alles war wunderbar. Die Bedienung war vielleicht etwas langsam, aber das war nicht wichtig. Mein Hüftsteak war genau richtig. Meine Pommes waren knackig, schmeckten gut, und eine richtig große Portion. Der Salat vorneweg war lecker, der Salat nebenbei noch besser. Das Steakhousebrot und die Kräuterbutter waren sehr lecker wie immer. Biere waren groß und kalt. Wir hatten ein tolles Essen.

Gehen nun schon seid Jahren ins Steakhouse. Auch an Weihnachten wo echt viel los ist, haben wir uns sehr gut bedient gefühlt! Essen Top …wie immer. Weiter so … Nur zu empfehlen! Grüße

Hallo zusammen... ich hatte hier wie jedes Jahr mit meinem Sohn unser Weihnachtsessen. Wie letztes Jahr haben wir uns für das Kagoshima Wagyu Steak entschieden. Es war geschmacklich wieder echt zart und super lecker, allerdings dieses Mal sehr fettreich. Beim Service war ich etwas irritiert. Die Tischkerze wurde leider nicht angezündet und der Wein nicht vorgeschenkt. Habe ich so hier noch nie gehabt. Wir werden trotzdem weiterhin unserem Stammhaus treu bleiben.

We are visiting from Denmark with our Goldendoodle puppy (7 months). We asked if she could come in and the answer was: "of course", said with the biggest smile on her face. We got a nice little booth with room for two, where she could lie under the table and follow along in the kitchen. They even gave her water and treats. The food was really good. We got from their Christmas menu. A steak menu and a leg of goose with side dishes. It was just a really good experience

The service was always courteous and attentive. You didn't have to wait too long for your orders and it was always possible to reorder something quickly. The steaks are a bit small and dry for my taste and the amount paid. The fries and salad were the finest cream. In conclusion, you can eat there with a clear conscience, but in my opinion there are better alternatives.

Monday is Spare Ribs All You Can Eat. Very tasty sauce. You can choose the starting side dish, then there are all you can eat fries. Unfortunately the staff is not very attentive when it comes to refilling, but is always friendly. The atmosphere is rustic and, in my opinion, cozy. We'd love to come back!

The dishes are always of high quality and so is the meat. Portions are also absolutely reasonable for the price. We are regular customers here and always enjoy coming here. The lunch menu is also really good and you get a lot to eat for a small price. Staff is very friendly and works very professionally.

I had the senior plate and looked for the steak in vain. It was so small if it even weighed 50 grams it would be a miracle. The fries tasted like old frying fat 🤮, the 5 champions too! The salad was so full of vinegar that it was not edible. After a complaint, fat-swimming fried potatoes were added. My conclusion: Despite the nice service, never again!!!!

Es war das beste Restaurant in dem wir seit langem waren. In jeglicher Hinsicht hat dieses Restaurant überzeugt. Die Reservierung- Sehr einfach, bequem und schnell. Außerdem gab es ein Kommentarfeld in dem man Sonderwünsche oder Anmerkungen schreiben konnte bevor man zu Besuch kommt. Unser Anlass war ein Geburtstag. Fangen wir mal mit der Ankunft an: es gibt ein Parkhaus in unmittelbarer Nähe- ca. 50m vom Restaurant Eingang entfernt. Nicht das schönste Parkhaus, aber sicher und günstig für die Kieler Innenstadt. Als wir dann im Restaurant angekommen waren, wurden wir super nett und höflich empfangen und durften uns auch direkt an den Reservierten Tisch setzen. (obwohl wir etwas zu früh dort waren) Die Bedienung kam schnell und was mich sehr gefreut hatte, dass diese Bescheid wusste dass es einen Geburtstag gibt. Wir wurden auf ein Geburtstagssekt des Hauses eingeladen. Sehr zuvorkommend und höflich! Das macht einen super Service aus!! wirklich klasse 👍🏼 Das Essen war der Hammer 🤩 eine 100/10 es hat alles geschmeckt und die Wartezeit hielt sich mit 30-40 Minuten wirklich im absoluten Traum Bereich . Preislich war es wirklich überragend, wir haben für 3 Personen ca 80€ gezahlt. All in All kommen wir auf jeden Fall wieder und empfehlen das Restaurant mit Stolz gerne weiter! Da wir zu früh waren wurde uns ein Platz an der Bar offeriert. Dort genossen wir einen kurzen und gemütlichen Augenblick und schon war der Tisch bereit. Danke an den tollen Service aller Mitarbeiter. Das Essen ist sehr gut. Sowohl Fleisch als auch Genüsse und Pommes sind ausgezeichnet. Der Salat hat noch ein wenig (!) Verbesserungspotential.

Price-performance no longer matches. The meat was great, but unfortunately the surroundings were not. Dry bread, boring potatoes, salad with ready-made dressing. It's a shame, but then it's better to spend 50 euros for a steak somewhere else.
